Oldie but goodie

The hotel is old but it's in a great spot. The employees are good and friendly. The food is good for Cuba. New years eve had plentifully great food. The everyday food was the same but we always found something to eat.

Amazing Resort

This Hotel was very nice, the staff are very polite, humble and look after your needs with care and they are all so very efficient and happy daily. The food is not bad, but that's not too important for me on my vacation, My room and view makes my Holiday. The front desk staff did her best to get us this room #1410 We had an amazing view. There was no shrimp or lobster through out our stay. Breakfast was great, the eggs taste so much better than what we have in North America. Glenda and Yasmany at the Lobby Bar are the very BEST. The maid and the staff in the dining are try their best to get you everything you need. The maid of course did such a great job making us animal designs everyday when we get to our room. We paid cheap and got more than what we paid for.

Good value.

The resort is well-maintained and very clean. Staff is very helpful. While the resort is not on the beach, it is easy to get to with golf cart transportation. There could be a greater variety of food at the buffet but what was there was satisfactory,

Great resort

We just got back from our trip and it just seemed to short. We had a great time at Melia Marina. Everyone was great and willing to serve us. The food in Cuba resorts are pretty much the same. We were talking to a server and they are taught we Canadians are fussy eaters... Not too much salt or spice or etc. So if the food is blah it's because of the complainers. This is a great resort and we do plan on coming back.

Unfortunately not as good as the add!

People in Cuba are very nice, always. We enjoyed the room which was clean but the balcony’s door didn’t close properly and the screen wasn’t working. The wifi didn’t work even though we bought a card with the password. And the food choice was terrible.

Will Never Stay There again or Recommend

We stayed at The Melia Marina Varadero from Nov 3.2018 to Nov 10.2018. My review will be in point form: - I liked the main lobby - the staff were friendly - if you want good service and good food book Levels for thos resort - our balcony door did not close so our room had to be changed - there was mold anf rusting in the rooms they have poor ventilation added to the fact that the shower area has no door to close it leaves the bathroom foggy and sweaty - this hotel was 5 years old in Aug [... read more]ust 2018 it looks like 15 years - there is poor lighting outside of the property my friend tripped on the step down to the pool there is no lighting at all and on our way back another vacationer fell flat on her face - the hotel has roaches and termites thankfully not in our room hut some fellow travellers we sat beside on the transfer back FINALLY - the food is horrible the sane food itemz repeated 3x a day - breakfast had sardines out of a tin...flies are all over the food - when you're ordering something from the grill ie. Pancakes or eggs or seafood you can see broken cracked tile in the kitchen huge turnoff I almost forgot....they brought a bottle of champagne to our room on Nov 7th. We enquired who was in our room after the maid left and no one told us. While the gesture was nice someone being around our items without notice is unnerving. Also they gave us a room to change on our last day after checkout the bedskirt had dirt on it the water settled while showering and didn't drain.. Gross. The people get a 4 but the hotel gets a 2.8

Great place

The hotel was perfect. It was always clean. The personal were very polite, profesional and friendly. I enjoyed the shows beach and swimming pool and music. I will highly recommend this hotel to friends.

Amazing Beaches

Where do I begin?? Flight was fine and on time and transportation to and from the hotel was great! The staff at the hotel were gracious and kind.The hotel looks good however there were some serious deficiencies The food at the buffet was always cold, never hot even when we were first in line for any given meal.The mystery meat was limited and always cold. Our room was adequate with extremely firm beds but lots and lots of hot water.The mini fridge was stocked daily as promised and the maid kept it clean enough for our standards.The hotel looks shabby for a 5 year old build with lots of chipped and broken tiles, towels bars that fall off of the wall etc The pools were warm enough to swim in as was the ocean so we spent hours floating around and taking in the warm sunshine Being off season, there was plenty of space except on the weekend when the locals come to stay.Don't misunderstand me, everyone is entitled to a vacation but the hotel clearly didn't plan on the numbers for food.They ran out of most stuff 1/2 hour into the lunch. We were traveling with our young grandson and he had a wonderful time.We felt safe letting him out of our sight and he charmed everyone he met.The Cubans are very family oriented and grateful for Canadian tourism Never were we pressed for tips and the service remained the same whether we did or not. The public washrooms were always clean and there was plenty of toilet tissue and soap The weather was perfect the entire week.

Good resort

Overall, Melia Marina is a pretty good resort, except for customer service is pretty bad. 80% of the employees working there has no smile and never greet, not even Hola. Needs a big improvement in their customer service. Some of the dish served in the buffet is way too salty. The ala carte restaurants in the evening are pretty good. The lounge in the level provides the best service. Rooms are clean.

Amazing resort!

Simply put, a wonderful resort. All features of the hotel were impeccable. The staff courteous, professional and friendly. The location was excellent. Food was very good. In particular, the specialty restaurants were delightful. I definitely recommend a stay here.

Not what we expected - needs maintenance work.

Room was not as expected. Sink in bathroom was cracked. Food was not what we would expect from a resort of this category. It left a lot to be desired. Location might be good, but not the best. Staff was not as welcoming as other places we have been, so bad that we requested a transfer from Air Canada Vacations personnel.

Superb Resort!

Great for first timers! Brought my parents and parents-in-laws for the very first time in Cuba. We all had an amazing experience, from food, rooms, and beach. Although, the resort has still a lot of potential to be improved, our stay was still super fun & memorable indeed. Kudos to Monika of Trip Central for a job well done in booking all our reservations and for a very good attitude towards new travellers like me & my fam :)

Bad Resort

I sick now...the food is very bad..The same food every day...Hotel need clean up..rooms very bad....I travel before Mexico and Dominica Republic ..this is real vacation...I afraid when lunch time...Cuba for me done!Melia Marina Varadero if trip central give me 7 days free this hotel I say noooooooooooooo!

Beautiful location and resort

Buffet is great for the morning. Evening buffet offers usually the same food however, the hotel has very nice restaurants, gorgeous location and beach. Service is excellent as they aim to please. Great entertainment every night.

terrible so many local cuban lot of party noice no food at all they eat all they so laud I can not sleep rest at all , many prostitutes in side hotel Hotel was full of cuban fiesta they drink and make only problems !!!! i was scare to go out of my room !

Must Go! You won't be disappointed

What an amazing Place. Upon check-in because we arrived early our room was not ready nobody to blame but our flight arrivals for that at 4 p.m. because they saw we had waited so long they upgraded our room to a marina View and what have you it was. This hotel has everything you need and more. Louis our favorite door man. It was a honor meeting him. The lobby was nice in the lobby bar and Patio was the place to be the nightclub was closed because we were there during Cuba's national morning which was absolutely understandable. On the resort there is a few restaurants to choose from that are ala carte and if you walk down the boardwalk along the marina you'll meet a few other restaurants and a nightclub as well as many shops it's almost like it has its own town. That's where we got to the Argentinian Steakhouse and you'll be blessed to meet Daniel the waiter Who services something I have never experienced before it's a must go and you will be paying out of pocket but the prices are very reasonable. If it's the party life you want head down into Varadero and the reviews are right Calle 62 is The Happening spot. And check out the beach at Calle 30.. it's out of this world. A taxi will cost you 15 Cuc. Change your money at the hotel but Bring cash. Not all cards work. There's two pools one mainly for children and the other for anyone it's not an adults-only Resort but the amount of kids is very little. Yes Cuban food isn't the tastiest at the main Buffet but you'll find some good picks. Jet skiing is a 5 Cuc cab ride away. There were a lot of great people at this Resort and fond memories were made I would definitely recommend it and it's a close five star if not four and a half for sure thank you so much trip Central and especially Monica for all your help

Amazing Experience!

My wife and I were fortunate to have a fifth floor suite on the east corner facing the pool. It was an amazing view and from the moment we got there all the staff was helpful and welcoming and made us feel very comfortable. The short walk or ride with “Ricco “ you have the Beautiful beach right there with all the same services as the hotel has. It was a beautiful amazing experience in Cuba and we will be visiting there again.

Still Good but not on the first floor

This was the 3rd time we went to Melia Marina Varadero. We have young kids (age 6 and 8) and each time they have had a great time. The food was good as always and the staff was great. Don't get a room on the first floor - we found a large cockroach in our room. The screen door didn't close properly and that could be how it got in. Anyway, after it was disposed of the front desk staff were quick in giving us another room on the 3rd floor. Relaxing Resort

The Melia Marina in Varadero was very nice compared to other hotels. The food was good with lots of choices at the buffet but the 24 hour pool restaurant was another story. Don't go there if your hungry because it takes a long time to get your order. Rooms weren't horrible. The beds are hard and the pillows are thin but they were clean. There wasn't really a whole lot to do there unless you were going out on excursions. Entertainment was good but didn't start till 9:30 at night and only la [... read more]sted about 1/2 hour. Plumbing wasn't very good in the lobby and pool area washrooms. Always plugged and out of paper. Other than that we did what we went to do and that was relax in the sun.

Melia Marina is a beautiful Resort

I stayed at this Melia Marina resort and Spa in Varadero Cuba. The resort is lovely, the food wasn't that bad. I was told in advance that the food at Cuban resorts isn't that good, so I was pleasantly surprised when I was able to finds things to eat for breakfast, Lunch and dinner. Most of the staff was friendly although there were a few stand out bad attitudes from the waiting staff in the buffet and Snack Bar. Overall I had a relaxing time.
