Everything about the Platinum Yucatan Princess was exquisite. Much thanks and appreciation to Pedro in Housekeeping, Abner at the Sports Bar, Saul at the Rodeo Grill and the lovely Janet at the Yucatan Buffet. These and so many more go above and beyond in looking after their guests. The resort has lovely grounds and pools. It is spread out quite a bit. The walk from building 1 to the beach is about 10 minutes. The Sports Park is 10 minutes in the other direction. Not a complaint, you'll need [... read more]the exercise after the delicious food! The beach is not fabulous but if you head to the right and enter the water in front of the Grand Princess it's much better. What are you waiting for? Book it!!!

Best restaurants we’ve seen so far on an all inclusive
Service: we were impressed with how friendly the staff constantly was.
Buffets: food was excellent and high end options like tbone steaks cooked to order were common. Drip Coffee was good.
A la cartes: no reservation needed at any of the 4 locations. Every location was excellent both in quality and service. The food was the caliber of high end restaurants in North America. Presentation of plates was excellent.
Pools: were really uncrowded and did not need to reserve chairs. Cement sid[... read more]ewalks are rough... the top layer is disentagrating. There was a quiet pool and a party one. Chairs were of high quality. Some cushioned canopy beds are available at certain locations and easy to find one without reserving.
Beach: it has been hit hard by a hurricane and not a great place to swim. The beach is extremely long however and can be walked. Chairs are abondant. Little grill by the beach has great food options and the cook was great and friendly. Lots of birds around which is a little annoying.
Entertainment: there’s always something going on. We didn’t attend much of the nightly stuff. We found some of the entertainment annoying at the party pool but it’s not hard to go somewhere else.
Lunch: kind of limited. I wished they had a larger option at the Rodeo grill location. The regular buffet is pretty good. We also tried the lunch buffet at the Princess Riviera resort next door and that was large with lots of options but service was poor.
Grounds: gorgeous and extremely clean and well maintained. Built in 2013.
Maintenance: prompt to fix problems.
Our room was upgraded upon arrival to a king bed with jacousi on balcony room in building 3. Gorgeous!
We would have no issue returning to this location. We were sad to leave.

Excellent resort
Very nice resort. Would definitely go back. Excellent food and quality alcohol brands. Very hard working staff and very friendly. Tightly contained site so not too far to walk to any amenity or restaurant or beach or pool. Only complaint is the Internet reception was spotty in our hotel room.

Beautiful Resort
The Resort was well laid out, the swim up pool is the way to go. More nightly entertainment would have been nice and maybe starting around 8pm. The al la carte restaurants were amazing, the buffet was good however temperature of food could have been hotter! The Spa was one of the best I have been to!

Great Resort!
We upgraded to a platinum suite, and ended up with a swim up suite, which was fantastic. Service at the beach and at our room by the pool was fantastic! Room service was quick and great, small selection, but good for what when we missed a meal. Food was average, wait staff was excellent, the ocean is very rocky and has lots of coral (water shoes a must). Very quiet resort in the 5000 section, a little more energy by the main pool and of course next door at Grand Sunset which you also have a[... read more]ccess to. Entertainment at night at the main area was good, often brief, but the then continued at the theatre indoors. We only saw the Grease show, which was great (lipsyncing to the main movie parts, they were spot on!). Some of your stock photos are inaccurate however, there weren't any chairs like the above photo near the beach, just palapas and lounge chairs (in abundance).

Annual Girls Trip 2017 Edition
First and foremost, I will start by saying that the resort is beautifully decorated and the staff are wonderful. (except for our Sunwing Rep Berniece who was exceptionally rude). My issue with this resort is that we paid extra for a"Platinum room". which mean that yes you are closer to the beach but who cares when the beach is so awful. You cannot swim without water shoes and /or tripping over massive rocks in the water. Just be aware that when you are booking "Platinum" at this resort, you will[... read more] not be getting the lovely beach beds or additional "Platinum only" lounge amenities that are available at other Princess resorts. The quiet pool needs some attention and there were MINIMUM 5 people with cut feet and injuries because it needs maintenance. The food is very good. The drinks are very good. My biggest issue is that when I book PLATINUM i expect it to be the best of the best on the resort. I did not feel that my comments were taken seriously by the front desk staff and the Sunwing "Rep" (she is not a good reflection on your customer service BTW Sunwing) and when I asked about upgrading to a double swim out, they wanted to charge me upwards of $500 CAD BUT then said that the resort was over booked and no rooms would be available until 2 days later. This was simply not true as we were told by several staff that the resort was quiet and many rooms on our floor were empty. Look, the resort is beautiful if you have never been to a true platinum quality resort, but when you have expectations of getting platinum amenities and get lipstick on a pig, its more than a little disappointing. I work hard for my vacations and I have come back feeling very disappointed. I will never stay on a Princess resort again and will likely never book with Sunwing again, even though I have travelled with both many times. Again, the property is nice, food is good, staff is amazing, but if you go on a hot vacation to enjoy the beach, this is not the place for you.

Incredible service!
This is a beautiful resort with top notch service! The ala cartes are fantastic. We went to Aroma twice because we loved it so much. The room service was excellent as well as the bartenders and servers at pool and beach. My only complaints were that our pool was FREEZING! And the beach does have coral ! Bring water shoes!!

Service was Great
We had a nice week Nov. 12-19 2017. We stayed in the Deluxe side of the Platinum Yucatan Princess nice rooms, only problem are the drunks screaming and yelling from the swim up bar when we got back to the room about 5pm hard to enjoy a beer on the balcony but it was entertaining watching them trying to walk back to there rooms at 5:45 as they stop serving at that time. Then it quiets down.
The hotel is very nice and the service is great. The food was very good and we liked that you don't need[... read more] a reservation.
Scuba shop is in front of the sister resort at the beach look for the sail boats and jet skies. $95 usd for two tank dives and the dive boat picks you up at the dive shop 9am back by noon. I had my own gear but the rental gear looked in good condition. You can book your dives at the beach bar-grill on the Platinum side booth is beside the beach bar-grill. Dive masters are good and safe we had small groups 4 - 5 divers. Reef is in good condition saw at least two turtles and a ray on every dive lots of fish. bottom time was based on air consumption not a set time.
Yes if you are beach people like us and you like to swim in the ocean you will have to have beach shoes on to get in and out of the water. The Platinum side beach is nice but the reef is exposed do to erosion you will need beach shoes. We had shoes and enjoyed the ocean swim once you get in far enough. This would not stop us from returning to this hotel as most of the Mayan hotels have the same problem.

Well worth the price
With the exception of the beach, the resort is very good for the price. Throughout most of that area, it is common for the beaches to be a sun tan area only.
Service at the pool bar was exceptional, housekeeping was fair and the resturants were very good.

A Great Holliday
We thought this was the best resort we have been to . The rooms were very clean and well decorated . The food was first class. The service was fantastic . They did everything they could to help us enjoy our stay . We were alliwed to check in right away . They sent us champagne the first night . We loved the beach . We loved the restaurants . We also had a special dinner in their Skylights restaurant . It cost us extra that night but it was our choice . Great holliday .

Great Resort
We stayed on the adults side of the Platinum Princess (Yucatan side). We had a deluxe swim up room. I wouldn't say this is a 5 star but the price is right. Rooms and resort were clean.
Food was AMAZING on the Yucatan side. This resort is quite large and not the best layout. The food on the Princess side was not as good.
Beach was beautiful and the staff were extremely friendly.
One thing that was slightly frustrating was some of the disorganization. Some things were difficult to book[... read more] and it took some time to do. I have stated at other resorts where everything was much more organized.
All in all in was a great resort for the price.

Nice vacation but not a five stars
This hotel was nice and clean but the pool needs some maintenance. Bedroom size is perfect.
Food was pretty good in general, especially Aroma, Rodeo Grill and bruschetta a la carte restaurant. Service was also good in overall hotel, both at restaurants and bars.
They don't have premium alcohol such as Baileys or Bombay gin. That was disappointing. Their shots are no good either.
There is a foam party on Saturday starting at 3 pm and resort feels more like being in Cancun. Would suggest [... read more]these parties be reserved more for Cancun than Mayan Riviera.
I would say this resort is between a 4 and 4.5 stars. Would not return, even doubting I would go to any Princess again.

Beautiful Resort
All in all this was a great resort, especially for the price we paid. Most of the bartenders are fantastic (especially Gilbert at the 24hr bar!). The pools are the perfect temperature and kept very clean. We saw them being hand scrubbed!
The Dining is a bit hit or miss. The Yucatan buffet was quite expansive and the fresh grill section always delivered great food. The Tao restaurant's teppanyaki was hands down our favourite, so delicious and always entertaining. The other section is alright as[... read more] well as the sushi. The Rodeo grill was not impressive and left much to be desired for us. We were not impressed you had to pay extra for the outside tipi type things. We didn't even make it to the rest of the restaurants but I heard good things about the bruschetta.
The night life was a little disappointing while we were there but the resort in general wasn't very busy. You could go over to the next princess where the night club is - which we found odd since we were at the adults only section. We thought the club would be on our side but oh well. It was nice that we coukd go anywhere but only the Yucatan Platinum members were allowed in our area.
The beach is quite beautiful with plenty of chairs and shade to choose from. There is seaweed that is cleaned up daily but you can't fault the resort for that. As far as we can tell the entire coast from at least Cancun past playa del Carmen is plagued by the stuff. It is definitely windy but it keeps you at a nice temperature during the peak heat hours.
The staff were all around very helpful and friendly and clean. Beware the one lady that cleans the bathroom near the main bar, she will forcibly braid your hair and expect a tip!
The room was very fancy at first glance but shows some wear and tear on close inspection. Nothing major and we were still thrilled about the size and appearance of the room. The free necklace amulet was also a nice touch as well as welcome Champagne.
The location of the resort should also be mentioned as quite convenient. You are 15mins from playa and half hour from Cancun. So most excursions and tours (except for ruins) are quite close by and don't waste a lot of time on a bus or taxi. We went all over the place so we really appreciated the central location!
Overall we had a fantastic experience at this resort and would definitely come back in the future. Bring your own sunscreen though! You own believe what they charge for it there...

Nice Resort
The hotel was well kept and the staff were friendly! The food was so so, with the price we paid I was expecting better quality. The shows could have been better. The fact that you are in Playa del Carmen means that there is not much to do. It's not like downtown Cancun so for the most part be ready to stay on the resort

Loved it
Clean, quiet, #1 place to visit. The beach is not very good but all the hotel pools and spas make up for it. The staff made us feel at home. Please be careful of the very slippery floor on the outside swim up area.

Not for Beachlovers!!!
The Platinum Yucatan Princess All Suites resort is a lovely resort with great amenities. Dining , rooms, activities, pools and grounds are wonderful.
That being said, we were extremely disappointed with the beach which was the focal point of our trip as we are beach lovers. The beach is rocky, shallow, and entirely not swimmable. During the week we were there it was also very unappealing aesthetically, as it was full of seaweed and murky with none of the beautiful aqua blue that you would[... read more] expect at such a destination. Additionally, there was a foul smell ( sewage) that was constantly present. After day 2 we walked to the right to the beach to one of the sister properties. The beach was better there, but overrun with young families. Nothing wrong with children but we booked an adult vacation.
This was the eighth all inclusive that I have visited in the Mayan Riviera and it was the worst beach I have ever seen . Because of this feature only, we would not stay again, nor would we recommend it to our beach loving friends.
A word to the wise about snorkeling excursions. We booked ours though BD Travel, our West Jet rep. The 'Cancun Adventures" Tour group booked 9 catamarans full of people (30 each) , at 9 and again at 1. They took us all out on very turbulent seas, only to announce once we got to the reef , that it was too dangerous to snorkel. They should have cancelled the tour in advance . Instead they put the health and safety of their clients at risk in favour of the almighty dollar. We saw many young families with children embarking upon dangerous seas , knowing what was about to befall them as we had just experienced sea sickness, and people almost being bounced overboard. And nobody go to snorkel that day. This sort of thing gives Mexico a bad name.
Time for us to take a break from Mexico for awhile.
