Impressive resort run by impressive staff

Just returned from 8 days at Chic Punta Cana. We had an amazing time while there, mostly due to the amazing service from the friendly staff at Chic. They are genuine in their desire to make your experience a memorable one for the right reasons. The few issues we had at the start of our stay were quickly remedied. The staff work hard to ensure you have all you need but mostly that you are really enjoying yourself. It's all about the customer experience and it shows. We were approached and asked if we wanted to partake in a presentation once, declined and we're not approached again. You politely decline and they politely accept. It did not once overshadow the wonderful time we spent at this resort. The food was top notch and the variety of restaurants was great. Special shout out to our butler Jose in building 4 for his undying attention as well as our beach servers Maribi and Yafresi who went beyond when Bob celebrated a birthday while there. The front desk manager Gustavo Lora took a personal interest to ensure our stay was comfortable. Amazing warm, friendly and genuine staff!

As advertised

Great service, clean facility, great food. Spent lots of time on the beach with drink service. Lots of neighborinng beaches for nice walks. Would definitely go back. Ignore the sales pitch for the loyalty club.

Excellent Trip

We stayed at the Chic Punta Cana February 19th to the 25th. The hotel is beautiful and grounds well kept. The rooms are very spacious and modern. The staff of the hotel are the best I have ever seen. Luis, Frank, Ray and Valeria were especially kind and they took excellent care of us. The food was excellent in all restaurants, especially the steak house. We had a couple of issues in the room. One day no water, air conditioning went off a couple of times. However, all of these were fixed  [... read more]very promptly, within minutes and did not put any damper on the trip. The entertainment every night was excellent, fire show on the beach and a cirque de soleil act was very entertaining. The bubble machine at the pool was so much fun. All in all, a wonderful time at the Chic. I would return again and I would recommend this hotel.

Just a nice looking resort, not much else.

Well, we just got back from the Chic Punta Cana........ The review we read before booking the trip is way over the top of what we actually experienced. First disappointment was where were the waterslides I saw on the website! You need to be a Diamond Club member and the shuttle takes you there. That "perk" should never have been displayed. The same goes for the Mermaid pool! Need to be a DIAMOND CLUB MEMBER! Where are the fancy looking desserts? Probably at the other restaurant you need to pay [... read more] to get in. So much for ALL INCLUSIVE! Was there anything good? Not crowded, no KIDS, lots of loungers, activities put on by staff to engage vacationers. All staff members were super in looking after our needs. Noticed, I did not mention the food, I really don't want to talk about it, had way better for a lot less. The Luxury room is as pictured, very clean, bright and the bed was very comfortable for a good night sleep. Just a day before leaving, our butler told us we can get the Diamond Club next time we come for free. All we need to do is listen to the presentation. So, Ok we start walking towards the Travel Smart office, I said to the butler (suddenly he's a salesman) I've already been there, its a TIME SHARE. We sit down and the "Pit Bull" tries to get us to buy. He lost. Be careful, these type of people can cost you your life's savings. I'm surprised the Royalton name was associated with this "scam" Weather was good for most part, rain in the morning then HOT! The beach was clean, but the surf's to big for safe swimming. The pools were cleaned daily, but a bit chilly in the morning, until later the afternoon when the sun warmed the water then people ventured into the pool.

RELAXING RESORT

NICE ROOMS CLEAN , GROUNDS KEPT CLEAN, RESORT NOT OVER CROWDED,STAFF FRIENDLY. FOOD IS PRETTY STANDARD GOOD SELECTION .ENTERTAINMENT IS AVERAGE SAME BASIC THEME EACH NIGHT. BEACH IS NICE NO PROBLEM TO GET A CHAIR TO SUN AND LOUNGE. POOL IS NOT OVERCROWDED LOTS OF PLACES TO SIT. LOTS OF STAFF TO WAIT ON YOU.GREAT RESORT IF YOU WANT TO RELAX AND HAVE QUIET TIME. AL A CARTE VENUES OKAY LIMITED WITH THEIR SELECTIONS FOOD OKAY.

Nice resort

all in all nice and good place but no evening entertainment buffet same all week very small resort if your not in diamond club your not very respected I find and if you are you get blasted with music ok

Staff are excellent

we just returned from a week at CHIC Punta Cana, Jan 23-30. The hotel was clean, well organized, and friendly. The staff were friendly, very good with English, and helpful. service was fast and thorough. rarely an empty cup, glass, or plate. We liked the 'no reservation' policy in the a la cartes. It worked well. The food was very good. Mind the floor in the buffett, as it can get slippery. Servers and bartenders are steady and fast. My new best friend is LUIS in the pool bar. We stayed in t [... read more]he 6000 block and did not get the diamond club. We didn't miss it, and many guests that had it, didn't see the extra value. but that is heresay. The swim-up rooms are an extra to the diamond club, and they sure looked nice, but the sacrifice is privacy. Saurel [Mr. Solution] was ready to fix any concerns. The resort is small, so everything was close by. I didn't find the peddlars too pushy, but stay clear of getting roped into the timeshare corral. It is a PITA, but everybody has to have a job, I guess. The entertainment staff was good and kept things from getting too quiet. The bracelet/ room key item worked great. Never seen that before, and what a great idea. This was our 4th trip to the DR, and 2nd to Punta Cana. Uvero beach was nice, and a stretch of newer resorts along there. beach was clean, and swimming in the ocean wasn't to rough. ocean bottom was sandy, so not much snorkeling at the hotel. All in all a beautiful resort, a few little things but nothing that was of concern. I would recommend CHIC to anyone looking for a nice clean resort, without too much partying. Amazing Resort

Lovely, elegant resort. Room was lovely. We were upgraded by the staff to the Diamond Club. Not sure why but it was a nice surprise. A few extra perks in the diamond club. Service in some areas could be improved but overall it was great. The buffet was fabulous. More than you could possibly want. Only went to the Steakhouse restaurant. I enjoyed it, my husband did not. But he also had a fabulous steak cooked fresh in front of him at the buffet which was to die for! We were not disappointed!

Beautiful modern resort

Overall we had a fantastic stay Would recommend to couples, solos and friends who like a more lively and up beat resort. If you are looking for a quiet relaxing resort I would not recommend. (although they do have down time during the day from the music and entertainment) Resort: Resort was very modern and very well maintained. Entertainment: Big shout out to Luis, Silvia and Fifi who made our stay amazing. They work very hard to entertain you during the day and the night. People often neglect to tip entertainers, remember just because they aren't pouring booze down your throats does not mean they are not working hard to entertain you. So please keep this in mind. The foam party was the best by far. If you love night life this place has great parties after 10PM. Drinks: Overall the drinks were what you would expect at an all inclusive. They do take their time in making them so please be patient. The best drinks served were at night while waiting for your meal in the sitting area outside of the restaurants as well as the main bar in the middle of the main entrance. Negative points: I do find some of the staff a little pushy trying to up sell you when you are walking to your room. I understand they are there to help you, but once you start talking they want to try and get you into a presentation that takes 2-3 hrs (from what I was told). Although you do get 100USD towards spa, or cabana etc. Other than that we had a great time and great experience at this very modern resort. I also want to thank Jonathon (hotel manager) for taking time during the day to walk around the pool and discuss and concerns that guests may have. Very professional.

Honeymoon

Chic punta cams was an amazing resort to take your honeymoon at. We upgraded to diamond club and highly recommended it above the regular rooms as you get an amazing buttler who surprised us with a romantic bubble bath with champagne and orchestrated a beautiful dinner in a candle lit room with one of the best steak dinners. Lots of fun activities going on all day like foam parties in the pool and blow up obstinate courses in the pool which is fun to watch or participate.

Fantastic Resor!

We loved this resort for a number of reasons. Firstly, the size...it was a nice, compact resort with everything within walking distance. Secondly, the facilities. We made extensive use of the gym which was great (though needs more treadmills) and we were happy with the layout and availability of food, coffee, drinks etc. Lastly, the service. On [... read more] the downside, New Year's Eve dinner was a bit of a disaster...long wait, cold/no food. It was very disorganized but it didn't detract from the overall enjoyment.

Great resort

The resort was all we could have hoped for. Looking forward to go again. The restaurants were great, staff very helpful, premises very clean. Activities around the pools, and nightly entertainment were quite good

Highs and lows

Overall I would give the resort a four star. Beach was good but my preference is Bavaro Beach. (Just prefer the whiter sand). The day and night entertainment was very very good. Francisco & company were very funny guys ( Sorry I forgot a name there, but he looks like Marcus Stroman who pitches for the Blue Jays) Rooms were excellent. The only wa [... read more]y to get a decent Glass of wine is to buy a bottle. We have been to many many resorts and don't always get the best wine but this doesn't even qualify to be wine. I am also very confident in saying that the alcohol was cheap brands, and the recognizable ones were watered down. The premium brands that they mention in their advertising can only be obtained by purchasing separately or in an upgrade package. As far as the staff goes, they were very good overall. Special mention for Carlo, Eduaro (looks like Edwin Encarnacion/Blue Jays) and Raphael in the buffet area and who also work in the specialty restaurants. They work long hard days and always manage to keep smiling and are always checking on us to see if everything is OK. Also Basillio who works the pool bar and lobby bar. And a very special mention to Yordelena who served us drinks in several of the areas. And also to Rosanna who waitresses the pool area in the daytime.

Great Resort

PROS: Grounds were well maintained. Beach had minimal seaweed, ocean was very wavy every day. Lots of free beach and pool chairs/beds. No towel cards, you could take as many towels as you like per day. Rooms were clean, well stocked. Entertainment during the day by the pool was good, Luis was amazing! Hard working man. Restaurants at night were amazing. Italian and steakhouse were the best! CONS: AC did not work well in rooms. Some staff were very pushy when it came to tours and excursio [... read more]ns which was very annoying. Buffet was standard, nothing special (would be nice if AC was turned on in the food area - beyond sliding doors). Entertainment at night was poor, very boring. Main pool would have been nice if there was a swim-up bar. (Only diamond club visitors had access to a swim-up bar).

3rd time in a year!!

Amazing trip! Rooms are beautiful, clean and all are located in a decent location to everything. Room tip - block 600-800 are right off the lobby. The staff at the poil bar were amazing. Special mention to Joel yossei and Manuel. Beach massages are the best. Ask for Yolanda. The trips just keep getting better. Be back soon!

Good resort

We enjoyed CHIC very much. Everything was top knotch. Our room was very nice but we found it slightly small. It would have been nice to have two sinks in the bathroom. We were in building 5, second floor. Our maid service was excellent, clean towels twice daily and turn down service. The Japanese restaurant and the morraccan restaurants were not very good. The steak house and Italian restaurants were great. Paradise!!

Chic by Royalton will not disappoint. If you're looking for a place to relax by the beach or listen to some music and have fun by the pool, this is the perfect hotel. It is an adult only resort and they make sure you feel the adult only vibe. Each night they have an event somewhere around the resort which is fun. The resort is small and cozy, walking distance from everything. The restaurants are amazing, we were amazed how good the food was. Since it's a Canadian owner , I feel you can feel the Canadian vibe throught the resort. The food is tasty and not fatty.(that's my personal opinion) I mean where else can you find grilled lobster in a buffet at lunch time. The beach : beautiful clear water , it is a bit rocky but if you walk abit more to the left there's a spot where it's calmer. My boyfriend and I are beach bums so anywhere with our toes in the sand near the beach we are content. Service; we took an upgrade once we got there which gave us access to the diamond club amenities but without a butler since we didn't feel we needed one.. Oh and I forgot to mention.. No need for reservations to eat at the restaurant and its unlimited so we ate everynight in a restaurant (we aren't big buffet fans) The service was outstanding from our à la Carte breakfast to our lunch on the beach , to our dinner at night. Our room: we had a regular room, it was very nice and modern. The only thing was when using the shower the water would leak on the floor of the washroom but there was a way to put the shower head so it wouldn't go all over. Our sink was a bit blocked but they fixed it right away. So no issues with that. Pool: We aren't much pool people, the main pool was very big and always have activities going on, they had a foam party which was fun. With our upgrade we had access to the mermaid pool which we really enjoyed. It is more quiet and less people and you have service there too. Gym: their gym was very nice , a lot of new equipment , they even had a section outside. We did yoga every morning overlooking the beach with some instructors that got invited there for the week from Toronto. That was amazing!!! It started our morning just right! Overall, we had an amazing week and I'm happy we got to experience an adult only resort, we really enjoyed it. I would recommend this resort to anyone who wants to rest and party a little, I do think this is perfect for people 20-40 years of age. But then again we met some older couples who enjoyed it as much as we did just doing different activities.

Better than I ever imagined!

The adult-only Chic, Punta Cana was the perfect combination of luxury accommodations, extraordinary dining options, delightful and charming staff, and wonderful entertainment. The beach was beautiful, although the waters were a tad rough at times. I can't wait to return to the Dominican Republic, and I won't consider any other resorts.

Fabulous!

The resort was really beautiful and clean. The food was amazing! Excellent selection at the buffet. The steak at the Steakhouse Restaurant was perfect. My mother-in-law is an Italian Chef and she said the Risotto at the Italian Restaurant was her favourite meal! The Spa was incredible-luxurious and relaxing.

Beautiful, clean and modern

Fantastic resort. Compact footprint so everything is relatively close and easy to navigate. Rooms were beautiful, mood lighting was cool. Food was very good. Loved that you could eat at the ala carte restaurants every night if you wanted to. Staff was amazing and the entertainment was great too. Late afternoon pool entertainment included live bands, foam parties, inflatable slide and obstacle course. Beach was nice, but the ocean here is pretty rough, so it's not really swimmable. But we didn't  [... read more]mind at all. Demographic was 35-40 average, adults only. Good mature crowd. Made some great friends there! We hope to return one day!
