Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Not the vacation we expected

This was our first time in Cuba and will be our last. We did research, read lots of reviews, talked to friends & family so we didn’t go with very high expectations. We were not prepared for what we walked into, the bugs were so bad, we were swarmed every time we left the room. We finished 2 full bottles of bug spray but it didn’t seem to work. They only did one “smoke” treatment that I saw during the full 7 days. We were eaten alive by the mosquitoes in the halls, in the elevator, the bu [... read more]ffet, the pool, the beach, the lobby. The only safe place was the room after you killed the ones that got in while you were running into the room. The second big issue was the food, I was prepared for bland food and same food options everyday but I was not prepared for the whole family to be sick after each meal. By the end of the trip we started skipping meals just to avoid being sick. The buffet was filled with bugs on the food and stains all over the chairs. We got home 2 days ago and we are still recovering. The staff was OK but mostly seemed like they didn’t want to be there or help. We were supposed to get 3 restaurant dinners but they said only one restaurant was available for one day. Only 2 waters delivered per day for a room with a family of 4 so we would have to go to the bar and hope they had water. We were ready to go home within 3 days and actually booked our next trip while we were there because we didn’t feel like it was a vacation at all. Very disappointed.

The beach was amazing! Great service, and staff was friendly especially Elizabeth Barabara who made it more memorable stay. 😎☀️🌻🐠🏖️ Food is ok for me, I brought my own ketchup and chilli sauce so it was good for me. The grounds were beautiful. The 24 hour snack bar was actually open 24 for 24 hours with good food. Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Really Enjoyed Our Stay

The hotel itself was beautiful. The bathrooms near the lobby could use a little maintenance. We really like the staff especially the entertainment staff Angel and Jason were amazing throughout our stay. Luis at the lobby bar was of great service always had a smile on. We really enjoyed the turquoise water at the beach, we miss it already. Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Beautiful resort and beach

We really like this resort, it’s not as big as others but it has one of the best beaches we have ever been and all the personal working there were so friendly and nice. The shows at night were great. The food wasn’t so good but a la carte was good

Great hotel, beach is paradise, people are so wonderful, very helpful and friendly. On the down size food is so lacking in quality and the wifi is such a pain ! Anyway ,we had a great stay ! I hope one day I will go back !

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Hotel is Good, Food and Medical not so much

Stayed at the Grand Sirenis Cayo Santa Maria for 11 days, overall we made it the best of it despite some issues. The resort itself is nice, with a couple nice pools, well stocked gym, and mostly friendly staff. However the food was extremely lacking, very few fruits and vegetables, we only got pasta a couple times (which makes no sense as it's so easy) and rarely got any meat that wasn't fish. Also I got a terrible ear infection second day and the "doctor" on the resort who barely spoke 3 words  [... read more]of English told me "no infection, no infection" not because I didn't have one but because he had no medicine to give me, I had to get antibiotics from another guest who was a nurse. Lack of ability to communicate with the staff was an issue alot of the time if you didn't speak Spanish, especially in key areas like the snack bar and the doctor. Also I was quite disappointed in the gift shop/store as they didn't even have basic essentials like Advil, and told me I'd have to drive 45 min into town to get some. I understand this is a very poor country and resources are limited but as a resort catering to foreigners it should be a bit better supplied and staffed.

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Amazing Beach Resort

I would have given 5 Star but curtain came off but didn't get fix and also the reading light was loose and was never fix. 2 days our coffee wasn't re-stocked the only provide 2 coffee capsules per day which is okay cause the lobby bar is open 24/7 BUT if you are not on the main Building then it's not good. There's only 1 pillow per person. But I will go back there again the Staff and Beach are Superb.

Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: Ok resort

Ok resort beautiful grounds ok food service 3/10 not much entertainment I wouldn't go back or reccomend. Beach was beautiful. The al la carts were not that good on Japanese. Drinks ok weather amazing.

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Fantastic resort

The resort was beautiful.We really enjoyed our stay.The food was fantastic .The grounds were beautiful,and the staff were very friendly.The monkeys were so fun to watch.Would definitely recommend this resort

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Didn't disappoint!!

This was our first trip to Mexico and we were very impressed with the resort. Although it's big and there is a lot of walking we didn't mind because there was always wild life to see. The staff was friendly and helpful. Warren ended up having a medical problem and the security staff stayed with us until the medic had transported us to the clinic on the resort. Unfortunately Warren had to go the hospital for over night. We didn't use the beach because of the seaweed/smell was strong. The choice of pools were great. The food was awesome, buffet had lots of choices. we were allowed 4 A la Carte's, Steak House, Italian, Brazilian and Japanese. They were all delicious. My only complaint was the Spa. The service we had was awesome but the price we had agreed upon changed 3 times. ended up being $50 more then the agreed upon price. It is definitely a resort we will visit again.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Grand Sirenis

Hotel and grounds were excellent. Employees always greeting you. Food was always good both buffet and a al carte. The spa was overpriced as well the prices differed between the spa and the front desk. Would go there again but not use the spa.

Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: Great family resort!

Beautiful grounds, mostly friendly staff. Fun activities with entertainment staff during the day and great shows at night. Food was good especially at a la carte restaurants which were very easy to book. Rooms could use a bit of tlc but we weren't bothered by it too much. This is definitely not a luxury resort but was great for what we were looking for. Had an amazing,memorable vacation.

Resort was clean, most of the staff was nice, overall a decent experience, rooms where new and nice, food was decent for Cuba but you can’t go with high expectations, didn’t notice any shortages untill our last day, it was off season so not everything was operating 100% but didn’t effect us much, entertainment is good, and the beach here is 10/10, you can’t go to Cuba expecting everything to be perfect all the time, it’s very safe as resorts are 30 mins from towns, overall it’s a gre [... read more]at budget vacation and I would recommend 100%

Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: Good resort

We were a group of 21 people . Reservations in the restaurants were done always requested tables for all of us. Italian restaurant was not flexible with our accommodations even that we had a birthday to be celebrated . Overall service at the main loby bar was awful from the point of you didnt want to order any drink because of attitude of ladies working there. I have very good time, Beach beautiful, clean and service very friendly .I have very good experience, and recommend to my friends and family this resort. I had amazing time in this resort. Food good and excellent variety.

Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: An overall ok experience

There's much to like about Grand Sirenis. The grounds are well maintained and quite beautiful. The beach is awesome, with lots of reef to explore and swim in. The pool area is great. Our family suite room setup was well laid out. The wifi is great throughout the resort. There is ample access to food (even if that food is not always the greatest). However, our stay was marred by a few key areas: 1) Our check-in was miserable. We arrived around 30 minutes before rooms were to be ready (no p [... read more]roblem!) so we walked around the grounds a little bit and then came back. We then waited in line for 30 minutes more because several large groups had arrived and there was insufficient staffing to help us. The very friendly lady at the check-in called housekeeping to check about our room and eventually we got our room. The room itself is nice! The AC and fans worked well. But our beds were NOT made up. I had no indication whether they had just not finished, or whether they were from previous guests, so we did not use them. It took us over 6 (SIX) hours and several phone calls and front desk visits before they finally made up our room. We had been up since 4am and it was now 9:45pm and we were exhausted and miserable. Not a good start. 2) Connected to the above, housekeeping did not stay on top of replenishing our water and towels. It was hit or miss whether we would even get water. The towels we can manage, but water? Not so much. It just seems like they were not well-equipped for everyone. 3) The food is ample, but some of the prepared dishes were not great. The A La Carte restaurants were...fine. It felt like they did a sub-par job of approximating that style of food. Sometimes they just made odd choices. Canned tuna in sushi?! In the "Route 66" American-style restaurant, their onion rings were quite good, but came with a flavourless and liquidy "sauce" - I think they meant to make an aioli or something? It was weird. 4) Lastly, the waterpark is in desperate need of a makeover. The staff were often borderline sleeping on the job and some of the slides were closed, and others seemed honestly a bit unsafe. The paint on some of them is chipping off. The stairs to the slides seem a little unsteady. Truly we still had a great week away, even in spite of these issues. It was our daughter's first big trip and she had a blast and does not really care about or notice these things. But I'm not sure I'd go again.

I recently stayed at this resort and unfortunately, I cannot recommend it. The lack of basic necessities such as water and toilet paper was frustrating and made the stay uncomfortable. Additionally, the lack of food options was disappointing and not what I expected from a resort of this caliber. The substitution of alcohol with other alternatives was not a suitable replacement and detracted from the overall experience. The bug situation was also a major issue. However, I must acknowledge that the beaches were beautiful and the people were wonderful. The natural beauty of the area was truly stunning and the locals were welcoming and friendly. Overall, while the location and people were lovely, the lack of basic necessities and bug situation made for an unpleasant experience. I hope that the resort management can address these issues to improve the experience for future guests

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Perfect resort

This resort has everything you need, from amazing coffee, great food, spaced out pool areas with lots of shade to good shows and large rooms! We were so impressed with this resort and can’t wait to rebook. The only downfall was the rooms were on a programmed temperature so it was always too warm. We wish we would have be able to adjust it to the temperature we would have liked.

Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: Would not recommend

Our stay at this hotel was honestly not the best. On our first night they had given us 2 double beds and instead of the king we had requested. We finally got our room at 1am. We found a cockroach in our room as well in the washroom of the hotel by the pool bar. They had not soaps the first day. Although the resort is kid friendly they do not allow kids to play recreation activities. such as beach volleyball or water volleyball as they said it was a risk to play with adults. My daughter is 12. 5â [... read more]€4 and plays rep volleyball. There were many complaints about this as this is the reason we chose this resort. Another downside to this resort is the pressure to biting the VIP package. They will call you and if you don’t answer will show up at your door trying to get u to come to breakfast to discuss the pro large with VIP I will say the beach, pool and al a cart restaurants were wonderful.

Grand Sirenis in Cayo Santa Maria is the place to be if you want to be treated like royalty. The Hotel Director "Patchy" is an absolute Gentleman and will do anything to make sure you are enjoying your stay and that you have everything you need, The Customer Service Representative "Pedro" I can't say enough good things about this Young Man. He is Mature, respectful and an extremely hard worker. We were there for 8 days and he was there everyday straight. We enjoyed a beautiful Ocean view room with a King-size bed, a personal walk in shower and a separate water closet. A coffee maker and safe in the room. The cleaning staff are excellent the rooms were done everyday before noon and always a special designed towel at the foot of the bed. The food I have to say was better this year than 2022, we ate healthy everyday and enjoyed the food , we did bring our own condiments which did help-you won't starve but if you are a foody don't go to Cuba. It is Cuban cuisine and consider it lucky that they are able to do what they can with so little to work with. This Country is suffering so the more people that go there will most definitely help their economy. If you can, bring clothes and shoes. Personal items, tylenol, vitamins, toothpaste, shampoo things like that. They literally can't buy it there. One of the waitresses told me if she needs a new a shirt it costs her 6 weeks wages. The Government provides them with a bag of rice and a bag of beans a month and it doesn't always get to who needs it. It's heartbreaking. So go to Cuba, enjoy the most Beautiful Beach and turquoise water that I have ever seen, get pampered by the staff eat the food they provide and be KIND!
