Good resort

The resort is clean and the staff is friendly. The resort lacks a lot of food options . The beach is damaged due to a storm the hit the island about a month ago so it's not the same anymore. Hopefully the resort will fix the beach soon. The area is known for mosquitoes so take precautions before you arrive.

Great Resort

Great Hotel especially when you look at quality price.. I would go back anyday. One of the best beaches i have seen in Cuba. The personnel were ALL outstanding and helpful. Hotel extremly clean..Enjoyed very much the coffee at the lobby bar. The only small problem since we were in the rainy season some nights there were many mosquitos so bring bug spray.

Great resort

Great resort very clean. Staff were great family pool Orlanda and Ebert took good care of us. They were smiles and laughter for them everyday. We were already taking about going back. We all enjoyed ourselves

Very clean, the staff was amazingly friendly.. would recommend a stay at this hotel.

First of all big shout out to Orlando the bartender at the family pool. he was so great. Friendly, helpful and a lot of fun. There was some food not available but what they did have was very good. The beach was fabulous. Long stretch for walking and the water had a sandy bottom that was kind on the feet. A very good resort.

Beautiful resort

Hotel clean and new. Beach beautiful with white sand and clear warm water. Staff are amazing, friendly and always with a warm smile. Food is good lots to eat,staff make do with what they have. Drinks are good if your are not picky always something to drink. Some shortages as it is Cuba but not that noticeable. Take alot of bug repellent with deet as the resort is by swamps and lots of flies and mosquitoes. We keep them at bay. All in all best resort we've been to in Cuba.

BEAUTIFUL RESORT BUT NEED BETTER STAFF !!!!!

Hotel is new and beautiful but service is not good !!! Baby crib was not in the room and we went two nights with out it !!!! Water in the room you should get every day we did not get it for two days !!! Sunwing is terrible are transfer from hotel to airport was late 2 hours and nobody did anything to help us !!!!!Staff at the front desk just told us that is not are problem call taxi!!!!SUNWING TERRIBLE COMUNICATION TRAVEL AGENT DONT DO HIS JOB !!!!! NEVER AGAIN TRAVEL WITH SUNWING!!!!!!

Relaxing week at the Grand Ashton

This was our first time in Cayo Paredon. The Grand Ashton Hotel is fairly new, our room had a nice view of the main pool and ocean. This is the nicest room we have had in Cuba and was kept clean. Very impressed by the level of cleaning of the grounds, lobby, bathrooms, etc. All the staff are very friendly and ready to help, we felt welcomed and appriciated. The food was good and plentyful, meals were pretty much the same everyday but always felt satisfied with what I had. Very nice [... read more] pools for every type of person...party, quiet, family, etc. The beach is amazing and clean. Plenty of palapas and chairs. You will not see seaweed like in Mexico and Punta Cana...Seaweed here is almost zero. For the nightly entertainment, there are no amphiteatre and have limited shows in the lobby area. FYI...you will not have soft drinks on the resort because of availability and no Mojito's nor Pina Colada. As reference, the hotel is about a 30 minute bus ride from the airport. We will be going back to this hotel.

Nice new clean resort

The hotel itself is super clean, our room was cleaned daily to our satisfaction. Towels in the room and for the beach were no problem. The beach was beautiful, very little debris, eg seaweed garbage etc. The four specialty restaurants were mostly good, Brazilian being our best because of the way the meat was cooked, more similar to home. The buffet wa [... read more]s far from great, if I were a fussy eater I would have basically starved. Dish after dish of “stuff” that looked not very appetizing and unidentifiable for the most part. Our first two days the flies were unbelievable, on the tables everywhere and around and in the food as well, totally disgusting! Then the buffet closed for two days for “renovations” when it reopened the flies situation was better (less of them) the food selection however remained the same. It’s my understanding that the Cuban economy depend heavily on tourism, for the life of me I can’t understand why the food and the way it’s prepared can’t be more appealing to Canadians IF they want us to visit their country. I think if the food situation were to be improved tons more people would visit that country. We felt the hotel lacked evening entertainment as well. What little there was is pretty good but really short time wise. Pretty much half an hour and that was it for the whole evening. Too bad the outdoor theatre isn’t utilized, especially for the kids show and leave the lobby bar for adults. The piano was covered up and never played. We travel south for the beach, hopefully good food and nightly entertainment like a show on a stage in a theatre and some lobby entertainment, piano, singer etc. We have agreed this will be our last trip to Cuba.

Great resort

The hotel is new and so are all the rooms and amenities. Due to shortages in Cuba, simple things like onions, tomatoes or soda were not available. Beach and pools were super clean. The staff were polite too.

Nice resort

The resort is beautiful, new & modern, very little entertainment & boring , Beach is amazing, shallow waters, lots of seating. Staff is okay, they speak very little English, there’s a few that is really nice & others not so much, front desk staff isn’t accommodating. Food is horrible (which is expected for Cuba). This was my second time going to Cuba & I don’t plan on returning because of the food unfortunately.

Awesome Resort

I loved this newish resort. The staff was always kind and friendly. The rooms were cleaned every day. You get new bottled water and bathroom towels daily. Leave them tips in the form of CAD and USD notes. The public restrooms were some of the cleanest I have seen anywhere. There are many bars and food places located at the beachfront and swimming pool areas. The workers are super friendly and welcoming. Download some TV shows or movies to watch when you wind down the day. The TV channels are mostly in Spanish. There are lots of flies because of the heat and salty air from the ocean. Overall, I enjoyed my week-long stay here, and I would definitely come back for a two-week stay. If any resort workers see this message, i would love to stay thank you so much for everything you guys did. You all work so hard and deserve all the praise.

Nice resort

People’s are friendly,Resort was nice and cleaned also food was good too.They have to improved in drink and add more sport activity and swimming pool activities also night entertainment.this resort has not souvenir store so that’s missed in resor otherwise resort is good and nice view for sunrise.

Nice hotel

It’s a brand new hotel so it was clean. Staff is super friendly and always ready to make you happy. Food! Well it’s Cuba! There was a variety of choices but the same thing everyday at the buffet. We did a la carte and my favourite was the Mexican. Food was tasty and super nice waiters. The Asian was ok and I heard the Italian was not too good. The only shortage I found was toilet paper. The beach is absolutely stunning, no seaweed, nice bartenders and fresh churros, mangos and coconut. My only negative point about this hotel is they have no night entertainment. Very short half hour and more of a kid friendly entertainment. So if you don’t mingle with people at the bar in the lobby it’s boring. Thankfully we met amazing people and made our own fun.

Great Vacation

This hotel was very clean and the staff were attentive when there was an issue in the room. There was plenty of food and no bugs. Enjoyed the coffee and drinks. As with all places in CUBA there was some issue with food but there was plenty of options. Entertainment was good and everyone made you feel welcome from the front desk staff to the gardeners. Beautiful new resort

This resort is new, beautiful and very well maintained with all amenities in very good working conditions, no issues with AC, hot water, safe, toilets. The grounds are manicured by the hard working gardeners. The beach is raked every morning and there are plenty of chairs and shade for all. The only suggestion would be to bring water shoes as there are some areas with rocks when you enter the water. There was plenty of food and drinks, you just have to remember that you are in Cuba. The staff at the restaurants, bars, reception, room service are very friendly and they work very hard to please you and make you vacation as enjoyable as possible. The best thing we did is get late checkout on one of our rooms for $20CAN/hour which helped us enjoy our last day.

Amazing resort!

Best vacation ever. Everywhere clean and beautiful. I liked the food, service and the ground. Animators and performance where on high level! Great location! Very friendly people are working there. I will strongly recommend 👌

Good resorts

Resorts were good staffs were excellent.rooms are great however shortage of toilet paper dining wise went to 3 ala carte restaurant the Mexican was fair the Chinese Feng shut was bad however the brazillian was the worse can't even chew the lamb and the food is cold had another families from quebec who also walked out of the restaurant,the buffett was repetitive.However I gave kudos to the staffs they are the best they tried to do the best with what they have .The beach is beautiful will consi [... read more]der coming back to the resorts even with the shortfall.

One of Cuba's Best!

This hotel is amazing! Have never stayed, in our 13 stays in Cuba, in a more beautiful, clean, well serviced, elegant, and beautiful resort. 1. Amazing resort!

My husband, myself and my 2 children (aged 6 and 8) just returned from a week at this resort and we absolutely LOVED it! The beach had soft sand and the ocean was fantastic! I kept hearing about sargassum hitting many tropical areas this year but it did not hit Cayo Coco. The water was warm and even though the waves were rough at times, my family spent hours in the water and on the beach. It is shallow for a while as you walk out in the ocean and bring goggles! The seaweed that is present is raked into piles by a worker. There is also wait staff who take your drink order while we lounge on the beach and there was a worker who came with a wheelbarrow almost daily, filled with mangoes and coconuts. We were able to enjoy these delicious treats right on the beach! This resort is only 8 months old so everything is new and clean. Our room overlooked the ocean and we had no problems with our accommodations. There wasn't a huge variety of food but we didn't care as our children are picky eaters and they were able to find something they liked! They LOVED the scrambled eggs for breakfast and thin slices of pork for lunch. This was not going to be the time they expanded their pallete and my husband and I didn't mind. The transportation to and from the resort was smooth with no issues. I learned that the Sunwing desk doesn't open until 8am at the Cayo Coco airport so there was really no need for the bus to get us at the resort at 6:55am when it's a half hour drive to the airport. I would have liked to have breakfast at the resort before getting on the bus as our flight wasn't until 11am. We didn't try any of the a la carte restaurants as we were simply not interested to do so. The buffet, beach bar, snack bar and family pool bar suited our needs just fine. We enjoyed the kiddle pool and family pool and at times, had a plate of fries to eat as our snack. We looked forward to the buffet in the evenings as there was a waiter named Noe who made our experience enjoyable. He was always friendly, kind and attentive to our needs. He greeted us with a smile each day and my kids connected with him. I would have liked to see napkins at the buffet. Apparently, they were at the a la carte restaurants but there weren't any at the buffet. It became a nuisance after a while. This resort has WIFI access which worked perfectly in our room, buffet, lobby bar and check in desk area. It works at the beach as well but it is spotty. We had to keep reconnecting but we didn't mind. There was no wine when we went but we were able to enjoy other alcoholic beverages. As an aside, Cuba now has a digital entry form that EVERY passenger must have filled out before entering the country. Also, there is no longer a departure tax to exit the country. Overall, this was a relaxing vacation for my family.

Amazing Beach

Super friendly staff, super nice rooms and amazing beach. The best beach I've seen so far. We weren't missing food but the variety wasn't there. No pancakes in the morning, no chicken at the buffet and no French fries either at the buffet. A bit difficult for picky eaters. We try the Italian, Brasilian and the Mexican restaurant a la carte.
