Barcelo Maya Colonial: Enjoyment

Enjoyed our 10 day stay immensely with the caveat… this is a HUGE resort with NO transportation for people like me that do not walk distances well using a cane. Also, if you have mobility issues I would recommend asking if there is a room with a walk-in shower. Ours had a rather high sided tub making entrance and exit somewhat difficult.The only transportation is from lobby to lobby via double decker buses but nothing (as for example golf carts) to move people internally. Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Royalton Hideaway

Great customer service with Beth from Trip Central and Sunwing Airline. The hotel is secluded, you must take taxi to get anywhere. I will highlight what we thought were positive and what was negative about the hotel POSITIVE: - The employees at the hotel, always courteous and respectful - The food excellent (our least favourite was the Caribbean where the coconut shrimps were overdone and the jerk chicken was not authentic at all, our meal at Hunter steak house had a good taste but eve [... read more]rything was cold). - The drinks, great selection and always tasty - no réservation required at restaurant except the Japanese - No towel cards required, ok to take more than one towel(not so good for the environment when guests exaggerate and take more towels than needed) - no kids zone at the hideaway - special section for hideaway guests at the main buffet - great entertainment - hotel clean, modern and comfortable - loungers comfortable, padded covers on all chairs - coffee/ice cream station in lobby excellent - nice modern gym - fridge well stocked - a la carte breakfast, lunch and dinner at Dorado for Hideaway guests only - mimosas in the morning - pool at Hideaway best design with steps around people where people would sit and socialize - food truck around property - BBQ set up at lunch near Hideaway pool but be careful, burger are often served undercooked - Hideaway reception, good sandwiches and drinks, best air conditioned room in the entire resort NEGATIVE - beach, lots of seaweed (improved at the end of our stay), water murky - no smoking not enforced, people smoking and vaping at pool, beach and common areas - not enough loungers, must reserve a chair no later than 6:30-7am - was told by worker to pay pool attendant to get a chair - pool attendant telling us we had to register with her to stay at the pool - saw attendant putting items on chair and then offering those chairs to guests for a tip - resort too big for my taste, too many people, glad we were at Hideaway - rooms facing mangrove are terrible, there is a strong sewage smell that prevents you from enjoying your balcony, we were able to change room after 3 days - not enough bartenders at pool or beach bar

Grand Riviera Princess: Large Resort with Lots to Do

We are very happy that we selected this resort for our Family Vacation (kids 11/14) It offered lots of activities, had a variety of pools and a nice beach. The resort was clean, had a lush jungle feel with all the trees and the rooms (Junior suite) were good. (We didn't spend much time in our room - so we didn't need or expect it to be extravagant.) The staff were always cleaning the main areas, walkways, grassy areas and buffets. We saw many wildlife during our visit: Monkeys (occasionally), quati (always-everywhere), deer (occasionally), croc (fenced in by restaurant), iguanas (daily), Agouti (occasionally), cats (always). The only area of the resort we found needed further attention during the daytime were the pools. Every pool needed to be skimmed/cleaned. Collection of leaves, grass, dirt was in each pool bottom or floating in water that we visited (3) The only main downfall I found was that the resort was almost too big. The walk from lobby to rooms or rooms to ocean or rooms to restaurants was always a hike. (I guess it was helpful in walking off all the meals/drinks...) Overall we would recommend this resort to friends

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Grand Sirinis Riviera Maya, Mexico

We were there for the long weekend. 3 nights 4 days. Mar 28th/24 to Mar 31/24. The rooms are dated. The main pool is an accident waiting to happen due to the different levels within the pool. Very disappointing. The food was great! Enough of a variety to suit many culinary needs. Evening activities were available. The “disco” was very far away. This explains the minimal attendance. Not a 5 star in its current state. The staff in particular throughout the resort was amazing!!!

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: A Great Resort with a Few Issues

This resort really is a hidden gem. The direct, walk in access to Xcaret is amazing and well worth the money. Pools are sprawling and warm. The wildlife throughout the ground also great. The beach cove was so perfect for toddlers and the net system does a good job of keeping the seaweed under control. We travelled in the last two weeks of March and the resort was full to capacity. Overall, there was a sense of being short staffed. The biggest issue, and the one I couldn’t get over, is that th [... read more]e resort required you to line up each day at 7AM to get a reservation at the ala carts. Every single freaking day. The lines were long and slow and if you didn’t get there until 8/8:30 there were no reservations left. If you have little children or large parties this system is totally unfair. We didn’t get to try a single ala cart and the buffet food was pretty inconsistent - some nights pretty terrible. We actually went into Playa a few nights because none of us could face another buffet night. Also some general issues with the room - AC wouldn’t cool below 24 etc. the room was just tired and the cleaning was a bit subpar. staff were really great to deal with and genuinely tried to set things right but there wasn’t much they could do. In all, I would definitely stay here again, but only if I was staying at the Royal Level so the food thing wasn’t an issue.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: 1st time at this resort it was amazing!!

Everything was excellent, service from employees, the food, activities, always accommodating . Employees always working to keep the grounds clean . Never waited long for the trolleys. Oecial thanks to Delmar who made our experience comforting .

Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya: BEAUTIFUL , CALM AMZING RESORT

GROUNDS ARE BEAUTIFUL AND CLEAN only thing we pay alot to go to the resort !!! You have to pay for a cabana , you have to pay for a massage which I don't mind but the hotel prices are crazy ! employees are great!!! Also It's insulting when you just check in and try to sell time shares !! WE JUST WANT TO BE ON HOLIDAYS WITHOUT INTERUPTIONS

El Dorado Seaside Suites: This is a beautiful well groomed romantic resort!

This resort is undergoing a change of management and lots of processess and procedures are relativly new to the staff, it will take some time for them to adjust or abolish some of the changes. If you are expecting a large lavish buffett its not there! A small buffett awaits you with only breakfast and dinner, lunch is offered at other restaurants and BBQ beach area, this gives you the opportunity to explore and experience the cuisine and lovely staff. Night life is limited to a rather quiet somber tone as the resort is transforming into an exclusive spa/wedding venue. The pools are very clean and lots of places to bask in the sunshine. The beach is not the best for swimming and snorkel but hey nothing will stop you from taking dip in the pristine waters and clean sand. The bars are limited to a few international drinks but the very knowlegable bartenders will knock your socks with some tasty mezcalitos! Overall the resort has well groomed grounds, golfcart rides, great places for photograpy, scenic and very relaxing.

Breathless Riviera Cancun: Amazing resort!

This resort is fantastic! I can't say enough good things about it. I usually stay at Secrets resorts, but Breathless is just as amazing. The staff, starting with Andrea who made check-in a breeze, were all so friendly and helpful. Pascual, Cesar and Giovani at the buffet were particularly polite and kind, and the guys at the pool bar, Ciro, Daniel, Melqui were incredible. The entertainment team, including Omar, David, and Julietta, were wonderful. The cleanliness of the resort was top-notch, although there was some seaweed on the beach for the first couple of days due to the weather, but the staff worked hard to keep it clean. the beach became fantastic when the weather improved, with no seaweed in sight. Overall, I highly recommend this resort and will definitely be returning!

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Hit & miss type of resort

So, this place was booked last minute as I had some time pop up unexpectedly in my schedule. The booking was advertised as $1859/pp based on double occupancy including taxes. Knowing there would be a single supplement fee wasn't a big problem as I’ve done this many times before. I certainly wasn’t expecting over $1000 extra as a fee, not to mention the new booking wasn’t ’privileged’ as advertised on my original request through Tripcentral. $2963 was my total, not a great start, and even  [... read more]less impressed to realize it wasn’t a ‘privileged’ package which is annoyingly important at this specific resort. Resort itself was mediocre, although food was good and service was 8/10. Trying to book restaurants is ridiculous, and you’ll hear everyone at the resort complaining about it. Pools weren’t great, entertainment was ok, beaches are really non existent although my intent was solely for the snorkelling on site which was pretty good, although a bit less impressive than I hoped. Theft here was brutal, and it’s particularly bad due to the fact I was travelling alone. You’re definitely being watched. Starting on day # 1 and ending on day #4, I had the following things stolen: my towel (2x), shirt, new sandals, Adidas hat, new travel mug, diving fins, diving knife, underwater camera, small roll of tipping $$. This has NEVER been such a problem in the past, and I’ve been to 36 all-inclusives since 2001. Literally dropping things on a beach chair and going into the ocean for a dive and coming back to having your stuff gone. Speaking with other guests at “customer services” (complete joke btw) mine was not an isolated incident, and the other guests that had similar issues were also travelling solo, although this did occur with some guests travelling in groups. Of course all these guests were in the water at the same time of their incidents. Reporting is pointless, they just direct you to ‘lost & found’. Having my diving gear stolen and not being able to trust leaving things around really turned this trip sour as the focal point of the trip was snorkelling. Leaving was another matter. They charged me the taxes to leave the country and added room fees (which were higher than the receipts I had) and demanded it be paid in cash, claiming their card machine was having ‘technical issues’. Surprisingly, the atm just downstairs had no issue with transactions?? Very sketchy considering they WOULD NOT provide a final receipt, and they got extremely upset when I started videoing their request and filming them at the front counter.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Sandos Caracol Eco Resort

Resort has gone downhill since last year. Food was cold and very little variety (buffet) Could NOT make reservations for any restaurant as the were booked and could not book anything that was available later unless i stood in a line several days later. Resort has excellent walking paths through the greenery.

Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen: Nice place

Nice hotel, great service. Employees are really nice. Bedroom are nice with good mattress. Great sushi restaurant.Downside no beach and not enough seating place around the pool and general area. I would go back.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Awesome resort

Very friendly staff. If resorts are your vibe this is definitely a great spot to bring your family. The food is decent as far as resorts go. Tons of activities and lots of great amenities. We had a great time!

It's a very clean resort. The grounds were well kept and maintained. The bathrooms and dining were very clean. We enjoyed all the facilities at the resort. The staff members were polite, pleasant, warm and very friendly. The staff members were very pleasant. The kids club was amazing and the entertainment team was amazing.

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo: Loved the resort

The buffet was terrific—wonderful food The kids club for our grandchildren, 2 seven year olds and one five year old, was great, they loved going and often didn’t want to leave A very well organized resort— they responded immediately to any requests All in all, a wonderful time had by all And Air Transat’s flight, pick up and delivery were excellent, far superior to Air Canada Vacations last year

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Nice resort

This resort is very large and required a lot of walking. The grounds were very nice and well kept. The room was large and clean, fridge was restocked daily and the towels were replenished however we were never given face clothes. The buffet had a good variety of food. The pools were very nice and clean although they were missing tiles on the bottom.

Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya: Amazing Amazing !

We loved Everything about our stay at Secrets in Akumal. The service was TOP NOTCH. The food was great. The grounds were clean and gorgeous. Our room was perfect. Entertainment was good. Did NOT like the 'time share' presentation. They were very very pushy, extremely 'high pressured' and it affected our happy mood (but we got over it)

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Fantastic resort

We loved our stay here and would recommend. The lazy river is fantastic and a great way to move around the resort. The staff were friendly. The pools were clean and we didn’t see any algae which is hard to do with hot weather. We went to 6 of the restaurants and loved the Peruvian and Mexican restos. The ceviche was incredible at the Peruvian. Our room was lovely and we had an amazing view of the ocean. No complaints at all. Nadia the concierge was fantastic in helping us out last minute. Just [... read more] don’t do the timeshare presentation. It is isn’t a deal at all. On a high note, we saw the dolphin show and it was very educational and entertaining. What a fun week. Bring your snorkel because you can snorkel right at the beach.

Dreams Puerto Morelos Resort and Spa: Hyatt Ziva

Rooms and resort was very clean ! Rooms were massive and clean, comfortable beds . The staff was was friendly, but I found they were lacking staff. The wait times for dinner were about 2 hours . Felt like they didn’t have enough staff for service, the staff they did have worked so hard and running around like crazy , I felt bad for them . The chair situation by the pools were a bummer cause if you didn’t wake up at 6 am to claim a spot you were screwed for the day . Oh and the beach sucked , you [... read more] couldn’t even go in , was so rocky and tons of seed weed . My 10 year old said it was the best trip ever! It’s a very family friendly resort, he really enjoyed the water park. Oh ya 1 more to add, maybe for the coffee shop you guys should set up a grab and go self serve station with coffee. I waited 30 mins in line each day for a regular cup of coffee in the morning.

Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun: Disappointing trip.

The hotel grounds and pools were lovely. Our kids 12 and 8 loved the water park. Unfortunately these were overshadowed by the poor customer service and terrible food. We couldn’t get into most of the a la carte restaurants, or had to wait 90+ minutes on a table. When we did get in the food was awful. My daughter was served a raw burger in the steakhouse.
