Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: What can I say...

What can I say?? We love Bahia resorts and as a 9 time guest we were quite excited to be going back to Punta Cana. This however, turned out to be our least favorite experience. We had issues at check-in, a crappy bed, and the food was just mediocre. We understand that some things may be affected by the COVID times however our trip was slightly disappointing to us. We have come to expect a higher standard from Bahia. Nothing that we experienced (or didn't experience) was enough to ruin our v [... read more]acation however it may make us reconsider which Bahia location we travel to next, if at all. The beach, grounds and pools are beautiful no matter what.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Great food, good staff, safe & clean

Great staff, amazing food selection,clean spacious room. Grounds are beautifully kept. Pool got very busy and not enough chairs. Music too loud at pool & main lobby. Nice beach. It was great having access to the other resorts, especially when the pool got so busy & loud.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: It use to be better

I wish I could say I got what excepted ,base on my last time I visited ,unfortunately, I did not . The food verity is limited a lot of pork in the buffet ,I was looking for beef(stake) but it was offered only 2 days in my week stay. And in the buffet they run out of food fast for example ( grilled mussels was done so fast and when I asked for it, they say sorry finished,we don't have anymore ) . We had few a la Carter restaurant to reserve for dinner and ,U couldn't reserve a in most of it  [... read more] . We only could do 3 . And the meat restaurant was not that good . My cell was stolen the last day before check out . And when I contact them when I went home , they said I should have contact the police before leaving the country ! Honestly ,I don't belive it I should delay my flight to look for my cell . Before ,the servers use to approach u more often to ask u what do u want! Now u where lucky if one passes u and asks .none on the peach . Overall, it was way better before.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Beautiful Resort

Spent a beautiful week here. Excellent updated facility, service was great overall, and everything clean and Covid protocols respected. Food was not quite up to our expectations however but was still very good. We would go back in a heartbeat and recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Girls trip

The grounds were well kept . The buildings ( rooms) and bathroom s could use a little bit of work . The staff is exceptional . Food was excellent . More light on walkways would improve the walk home from the bar and restaurant s .

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Post Covid-19 Trip

First of all we got the wrong room category. The next day they sort of fixed it after a lot of arguing. The food and drinks were great. The wait staff was great. The front desk not so much. The entertainment was fantastic along with the entertainment staff. Adrian in particular. Room service was fine. The resort was full and was only the second week after re-opening. Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Good Vacation

Was there for 12 days. Not a bad vacation. Food was mostly luke warm at the buffets unless cooked fresh for you. Only went to 3 ala cartes, Limbo (1x), Portofino (2x) and MEAT (3x). Enjoyed Portofino the best. The ribeye at MEAT was good but they add butter after cooked making a tad greasy. Beach buffet pretty much the same every day. After 12 days, did get bored with the food. I recommend Miami vice and chocolate monkey. Room, no issues other than freezing and for me the bed was like a rock. Room service, although quick, good luck getting everything you order. Toast for 2 was 2 slices of bread. Black coffee came with a jug of milk. Coffee shop. Good coffee. If you intend to buy vanilla, pick up there. $6.00 for a white and dark bottle. Now the sports bar. The food was great, nice and hot. Wings, fabulous. Service outside, looked good and never heard complaints. Inside service, the worst. On one visit, we had to go to the waitress who was hiding at the bar, to give our order. Never cleared our table or offered another drink. Other staff did her job for her. We were not the only one to experience this. Butler, couldn’t get a hold of anyone so stopped trying. No big deal. Housekeeping took care of us. Swim ups-please remember, at midnight when you are out there with music playing loudly and having a party, the walls are thin and you might want to think of someone other then yourselves. Be respectful because the hotel doesn’t enforce the 9pm rule. Lounge chairs-we noticed when certain groups arrived, chairs were saved and on more than one occasion, not even used after being held all day. The hotel was told (not me)about 8 chairs being held with orange pop and did nothing. This is an issue at the hotel. Another rule they don’t enforce. Overall, besides the food not always being hot and somewhat boring (lack of options I imagine due to Covid), the hotel provided a great vacation. We had a great time. Very relaxing.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Awesome resort!

Great resort and lots of options. Love that Akumal let us visit all the other sister resorts nearby. Rooms were clean and the team even joined our double beds together and added a mattress so it felt like a king size bed in the end. Coffee shop was a favorite daily visit. Activities and staff were super fun. Shuttle service to room could be a wee bit better. We felt like we always missed the shuttle or never had luck getting it to our room, but the walk wasn't too far and we enjoyed walking so n [... read more]ot a big deal. Food was top notch and again great options. I like that it let you book online. PCR was the only item that could be better. Hotel booked us at 11am and seems like they booked everyone around that time and so the line up and process took 3+ hours altogether. If organized better, it could be a 15 min process. Definitely suggest a review to improve coordination as a fight broke out at the PCR station between travelers, probably because they were frustrated and wanted to go to the beach! All in all a great experience for us.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: 5th Time at Esmeralda

Resort is still gorgeous. COVID testing two days before you leave went very smoothly. A la carte restaurants have a QR code to scan at the entrance which contains the menu - very cool and safe - nothing to touch or disinfect.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Great place

We go to bahia resorts and they never fail. Great foods the staff are wonderful and talented. The rooms are impeccable. Even with all the restrictions still around there was lots to do. Three a la cart and buffets were great as well

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: great vacation with some restrictions

Had a great vacation , havn't been away for 2 years , wasn't full which even made it better , not everything at full running but the staff and the resort were amazing and really tried to make everyone happy , I will be looking at this resort again in the future . There are a few minor hiccups with travel that you must do but would I do it again , yes in a heartbeat . Glad to see that people and buisness are getting back to a normal .

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Very beautiful and nice place

This resort was really good and very clean. All tables and chairs were cleaning after any use. Specially I would like to thank my agent from tripcenteral.ca ( Susan Snider) that sent me lots of information from beginning till end of my vacation. DG.

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Didn't stay at Aquamarine, it was Esmeralda

Hotel was okay, seaweed seems to be an issue people complain about, but they were out every morning to cleanup. Ala Carts were great!! Favorite was Indian!! Our only big issue is people do not like to wear masks and no enforcement.😷😔

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Great resort and wonderful beach

Fortunate to have been at this resort two times before when staying at Bahia Ambar adult only resort next door. We were located in building 21 on the main floor which is one of the best locations at the resort near the beach and pool. This is one of the best beaches in Dominican Republic. Beautiful grounds and lobbies. Great food especially at the Indian and Italian restaurants. They hand out gloves for the buffet which are somewhat useless as they are difficult to use and stop the spread of p [... read more]otential surface contamination. Excellent maid service and friendly staff throughout the resort. Some of the negatives would be poor room service and other tourists at the resort. It is full of Russians as it is one of the few places they can go with their Russian vaccine. Many tourists around the bars outside were not distancing or wearing masks properly when required. This made us very uncomfortable with people being in our personal space many times a day. The other issue is terrible bar service. Because of Covid bar service is limited and you need to line up to get a drink. Beach and pool bars at pool level and many restaurants were closed. This is a 4 star resort and very large with hundreds if not thousands of rooms. The resort requires upgrading and maintenance in certain areas. Three train services run regularly. Like I mentioned earlier we got lucky with our room location. I would never book this resort but I won the trip paying for taxes(half the cost). It was only 50 percent full while we were there due to Covid and being off season. That is changing and at the end of our week it was getting busier. PCR tests went okay and cost $82 US each. There is a lot of red tape travelling, QR codes and APPS etc. so you need to be very organized. We were searched by narcotics officers and drug sniffing dogs at the airport. If you are booking this resort you should have a wonderful vacation, just be prepared for red tape and other potential safety issues. Bahia does what they can to make the trip enjoyable and safe. We had a great vacation as we are experienced travellers and were familiar with the location and knew what to expect. 31 and sunny every day😎

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Resort was okay

The pools were nice. The ocean floor was all rock so you couldn't swim in the ocean. It was a bad experience for me. I arrived in Cancun and there was no shuttle. I contacted the resort and told to take a taxi and would be reimbursed the $225 US which they denied at the resort. Then I was charged an additional $200 US for some mystery tax that no one else had to pay that I met. My third and last trip to Mexico and 1st and last trip with tripcentral and Air Canada. Very disappointed.

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Amazing Time after COVID lockdown

From the moment we arrived until we left, everything was exactly what we needed. Friendly people, lots of sunshine and delicious food. Mske sure to visit the beach bar and have some Appleton 12 year on the rocks while hearing interesting stories. Can't wait to return.

Bahia Principe Explore Legend: Wasted trip

My son got hand foot mouth disease and now my husband and I do too. I think that speaks for the “cleanliness” of the property which falls hand in hand with Covid safety measures that were concerning. Our room had a couple of items in the back of the drawers left by previous tenants. Cutlery in buffet was dirty on 2 occasions. Guests were getting up and serving themselves coffee with bare hands with the pitchers used by staff, if staff was delayed in serving coffee. Some drivers were assuring [... read more] each rider that got on had a mask but it was not consistent among drivers nor consistent on their own routes for each stop. The kicker: USED MASKS were floating in the pool. I appreciated the paperless Covid precautions but then for a day and a half I walked by a soiled diaper laying on the railing of the wheelchair ramp I used to bring my son on his stroller. Staff were always in masks and didn’t enter our rooms unless absolutely necessary. The actual process of the Covid testing was easy and convenient. Would not go back again. I’ve been going to punta Cana for over 10 years and this trip left a very bad taste in my mouth and I don’t know if I’ll ever be returning.

Hotel is nice. Has 4 different hotels on the territory. You dont have to walk there are little cars are coming to different locations. Rooms are clean. At buffet very good variety of food. Nice clean fabric tablecloth on the table. They give plastic glove to go to buffet and you have to wear mask. But at the table you take it off. Friendly staff. Only if you are coming from Canada change money to US $ at Canada. They dont want canadian $. You can change them only in pesos at the hotel not at US  [... read more]$. Take extra because covid test cost 120 US$ for each person location at the Tulum hotel or there is the option the lab can come to the room for 115$, antigen test cost 35$. All programs are running in full capacity. Kids club were you can send kids from 9-5 and enjoy kids free day. Program is free. At night kids show at 8pm, entertaiment show like circus, magic show, silent disco at 9pm. At 10pm live music and karaoke. Pools are clean they clean them each morning. Beach little bit far you need to take little car and 5min you are there. You will need water shoes for the beach a lots of rock in the water plus seaweed. Also there is a delfinarium on one the hotel (Tulum). Little bit expensive to swim with dolphins 159$. Also if kid want go no money back. You can go to the pool in all those 4 hotels. At Coba hotel there is kids slides I found little bit rough went myself. Bars make good drinks. Best bar for coffee and cocktails at the lobby. They clean all tables and chairs. At the beach you can take kayaky for free. Or there is katamaran if you know how to sail its free. With instructor it cost 45$. Parasailing 75$ per person. We mostly spend time at the pool, because beach has a lots of rocks. Water is warm at the beach and at the pools. Food was good and big variety of food. You always find what to eat. Deserts ware amazing! From airoport will take you 1.5 hour to hotel, bit far. They left surprise for the last day bottle of brut and stawberry covered in chocolate, which was very nice. Restaurans are open. Everything is open and running there. You can buy diffrent excursion at the hotel as well like excaret, xelha, chicheniza... Yes would recommend the hotel.

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Interesting Resort…Castle life

The hotel is absolutely beautiful, my room was fit for a queen, if I could I would transport it back to my house. The service was outstanding. The staff are above and beyond 10 star. They made you feel at home. My view was beautiful and tranquil. Chef we need to chat.

Bahia Principe Explore Legend: Not what I expected

Service was garbage and rude. Breakfast lunch and dinner was the same everyday. We went to the a la carte ended up going back to the buffet again. The room smelled like mildew. First time staying at the Bahia. Melia hotels ans serenis, RIU and the royalton grand memories so much better.
