Melia Las Dunas: Good for the price.
Lack of soft drinks in rooms and rooms need to be checked before guest arrival. Sink drain plugged solid, tv remote didn’t work and hairdryer didn’t work. Only thing fixed was drain. Service in the buffet was excellent and food was good. Was our fifth time at this resort and they had very little live music compared to past.
Melia Marina Varadero: The magnificent Melia Marina
A dream vacation on a pristine resort. First class food, perfect pools and a beauty beach make for a quality experience. The rooms were tastefully decorated and very comfortable, thanks Tripcentral and Melia Marina!!
Sol Cayo Santa Maria: Run down resort desperate for renos
staff was very friendly and helpful, always smiling and genuine. the beach was great, quiet (no annoying music by the water) and really enjoyed the nudist side. beyond that, everything else is a bummer. many things broken in the room (outlets popping out of the wall, sink not draining, sheets with holes, moldy smell) and all around the resort (none of the fountains work, planks missing from the boardwalk, half the resort cut off with sheet metal fencing...). food was ok during lunch bbq, b [... read more]
Melia Peninsula Varadero: Fantastic resort
The staff were all fantastic, the grounds well cared for and the beach amazing. Not overcrowded easy to get around the resort. We felt as though our trip was important to them. Exceeded my expectations for Cuba by far. The food was not my favorite in the Caribbean, but we always found something to eat we certainly did not go hungry. I went to Cuba saying it would be a one time only trip, I would definitely return.
Melia Peninsula Varadero: Fantastic time at the Melia Peninsula Varadero
Great place, especially our waitress at the buffet. Maria was always attentive and so sweet. Water was plentiful despite other online reviews. Rooms were good. Food was plentiful. Check in /lobby desk was frustrating, they didn't understand some of the questions and requests as well as other staff but overall we didn't have too much trouble. Customer service office and phone office were only sporadically staffed which was tested our patience but being on holidays we tried to take it all [... read more]
Melia Las Dunas: Good resort but hot water issues
This resort is very large - a bit too large for our taste but it is nice but needs some TLC. We were told the Cuban gov't has now partneured with the Melia chain of Cuban resorts. This is probably why the hot water is on timers - no hot water before 5:00 pm every day for the 2 weeks we were there - and we weren't the only ones complaining. The buffet food was mediocre. We have stayed at 13 resorts in Cuba ( including 2 Melia's in Varadero) and this is the first time we had trouble finding [... read more]
Sol Cayo Coco: Loved this Resort
We had a wonderful time at Sol Cayo Coco Resort. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The customer service people were around everyday to see if we needed anything. Also they wanted to know any suggestions that we would have to make our stay better and I felt like they genuinely wanted to listen to our suggestions and make any changes they could. The facility was very clean. Our room was nice and the house keeper always there asking if our room was good and if we needed anything. The [... read more]
Hotel Vigia: Mixed feelings
The hotel left a mixed impression. On one hand the room was good-airy, high ceiling, no mould, no mosquitoes, excellent water pressure on the second floor. People working there are really nice. On the other hand the food was one of the worst in quality and selection until the last day, then it suddenly was quite good! The cocktails and coffee were good. The speciality restaurant was not easy to book but 2 meals there and the service were quite good. The grounds are a little abandoned and delipit [... read more]
Melia Las Americas: Great resort
First time in Cuba and my friends have been there before. Entertainment, people and food was good. Service exceptional! My only recommendation is to have larger patio outside of lobby. It was normally full at night because of wonderful violinists that would play. Would be great if more outdoor night time seating in general. But otherwise, I'd go back again, for sure!
Paradisus Rio De Oro: Good Resort
It is an aging Resort with very good food for Cuba and great staff. We stayed at an ocean view junior suite with a good view of ocean through some trees. Beach is good after you pass the rocky front and it is great for snorkelling. When busy time the repeaters got better treatment. Make sure when booking your Japanese restaurant to ask for the table show.
Hotel Camino del Mar: Home away from home
My husband and I have gone to this resort 7 times, sometimes with children and other times by ourselves. This trip was for 3 weeks from Jan 18 - Feb 8, 2020. We had a wonderful, relaxing time. We did not have an issue with water or air conditioning. There is a block of rooms that don't have air but travellers are not put into these rooms as they are closed until the issue is fixed. The beach is clean and beautiful. The pool is clean and inviting. The gardens are beautiful. The food is plentifu [... read more]
Melia Jardines del Rey: Nice resort
The week we went to cayo coco they had rations as in shortages...drinking water pop juice etc ... we were a group of 8 ladies that went ..there was no hot water for showers for most of the week ... It's a nice resort..the staff was awesome and did there best with what they had...overall could use an upgrade in the facilities as toilets.. water temperature etc. It asks if I would recommend this hotel to friends ..probably not right now ..maybe if they fix the problems and do some upgrades
Melia Jardines del Rey: Great Vacation Again
We stayed here end of January for one week. This was our 5th visit over the years and have noticed some changes. Hotel was full and this at times overwhelmed staff. Additional Trumped up embargo's are definitely effecting the people of Cuba and also tourist areas. No soap for two days, food assortment is more limited. Food, however was well prepared, presented, and hot. Never hungry! Buffet staff seemed new and inexperienced. Lack of supervision and direction, noticeable change from previous v [... read more]
Tryp Cayo Coco: Amazing Resort and Staff
The Staff, Grounds, Room and food were all amazing. This was my 2nd time at this resort and we are already planning to go back again next year!!! One of the guests with us was 2 years old and he got sick. The doctor showed up the morning after to see how he was doing and then while walking to the buffet from the store the Manager of Guest services popped her head out the window to ask us how he was doing. Truly amazing Customer Service!
Melia Varadero: Loved it!
The beach is amazing, and the rooms are comfortable. The buffet was huge and even a picky eater can find something to eat. The a la cart restaurants are amazing! Our favourites were the international and the Italian. Christobal at the piano bar makes the most AMAZING mojitos. We will definitely go back.
Paradisus Varadero: Great location
Very nice resort; some things need improvement, but their staff is willing to do whatever they can to make our stay enjoyable. I would mention Jonathan from customer service and Dennis from the main restaurant.
Melia Internacional: Great resort
Great modern hotel ..amazing entertainment. Amazing beach. Wish there was a disco on the premises. Great food for cuba..so many good things that I would have loved to have finished eating except way too much salt. CUBAN resorts need to work on the food . Overall a great week
Paradisus Rio De Oro: Another great week at Paradisus!
We thoroughly enjoyed our tenth stay at this beautiful resort. We were upgraded to a room with an outdoor shower which is so enjoyable. Although this resort is a little gem, we have definitely noticed the rooms are in need of upgrading. As well, the lighting around the pathways at night was poor. Many of the boxes had burnt out bulbs. The pathway to our room was black and we had to use our phones in order to see. We reported this to the desk but nothing was done. Otherwise great resort, great en [... read more]
Melia Jardines del Rey: Dont go :(
Please don't go to this property. It is not 3.6☆ I have been to Cuba 8 times. The people are lovely, the service was good at check in and with Air Canada, but the resort is in need of renovations. Our first room was a 20 minute walk from the lobby, the property is huge..too big. We moved rooms but we had two small single beds, filthy curtains, toilet didn't flush, no hot water, dark..little lighting if any.very old. I have a breathing problem, COPD, and a sleep apnea Cpap machine so I co [... read more]
Melia Jardines del Rey: Well done!
Our second time staying here and it was great! Food was fantastic! Staff wonderful and super accommodating. Definitely come back to enjoy the beauty and loveliness! Amazing beach, white sand! Awesome seashells too!
