Sol Turquesa Beach: Not Great

Not only was the food bad but they ran out of bread, eggs, French Fries and other items. I’m covered in bug bites which I’m sure are bed bug bites. We paid extra for the Diamond Club rooms that were supposed to be refurbished but they were the same as all the rooms. We were supposed to get beer in our fridge every night but most days it was not replenished.

Playa Costa Verde: Get what you pay for..

Decent rooms for an older resort, problems with the shower pressure/the and toilet not flushing. Pool was nice and clean with lots of space to sit. Great poolside bar tenders. Alcohol was watered down and food was not great, we ate the same thing all week. However the Japanese a la carte was fantastic! The beach was super rocky and came home with multiple sand flea bite. Small amount of choice for excursions. Overall decent weather, grounds and staff.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Perfect week !

Superb beach, clean hotel and the staff deserves nothing less than 2 thumbs up ! Riding horses on the beach under a perfect blue sky - what more can you ask ? Will be going back next year for sure :-)

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Crowded Resort

Formerly Blau Costa Verde, this Hotel recently added a few hundred rooms but unfortunately did not increase the dining facilities or staff to accommodate so many added guests. The a-la-carte restaurants (Asian, Cuban, Italian, and Mexican) no longer require reservations but are now on a first come first serve basis causing frequent lineups and wait times. The Buffet restaurant added some production but food quality and variety was at times impressive and other times disappointing. Brisas Covarrubias: Awesome Resort

Just returned from Brisas Covarrubias after enjoying 2 wonderful weeks(22 February- 8 March). The flight down with Sunwing was great and on time. We were very happy with transfer from Holguin airport to the Brisas Covarrubias. Check in was smooth and got into the block we had requested by email. The resort was clean and the grounds we're well kept. The food in the buffet was very good and our servers ( Raquel & Ricardo ) were the best. The beach was incredible and once again clean. Snorkeling wa [... read more]s just great as well. Kendry at the Nautica center was great and passed on great information about the area. Nunia, Raymond, and Xiamarra at reception were in St so helpful during our stay answered all our questions and requests. Julio and Horacio at the pool bar we're great and Louisa at the Lobby Bar made incredible Spanish coffees. Isela the towel Girl was very helpful and looked after our needs. Yane and Maria our house keepers were extremely thorough and had our room done before lunch every day. My wife and I are totally pleased with our stay at Brisas Covarrubias and plan to return next year.

Playa Costa Verde: Nice hotel

We enjoyed our stay and had an overall get time there. The grounds were kept clean, the pool was great but the only down side to it were the small ceramic tiles on the floor of it were coming off so we worries about cutting our feet. The long walk to the beach with the swamp on the sides of the bridge was our least favourite part of it. The food overall was good the Japanese restaurant was our favourite forsure. They kept telling us they couldn’t accommodate 2 people and eventually gave us a spot for 1 and added a Seat..

Sol Turquesa Beach: great resort

The hotel staff service was always friendly and efficient, The resort pools are the highlight, beach was great ,good beach bar ,grounds clean ,well kept, There was some supply issues ,not the hotels fault, ,overall great trip will be returning

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: A resort to consider

The nature is fantastic, but the service is down. It is obvious that the management and the capital spending on some activities are not adequate. Activities (billiard, tennis, water sports …) are not well supported, bars are cheap, lifeguards by the pools were not adequate and it almost caused a tragedy. My personal vacation was great; nevertheless, I know this place for more than a decade and can say that this place had much better times.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Quiet resort

The hotel and surroundings were beautiful but the rooms were quite dated. Upon arrival we were directed to our room but we promptly turned around and refused to stay in it as it was very dark and smelt like mold. We were given another room which initially seemed much better but after a day or two we realized that it was also very damp and our bed sheets needed changed everyday as they felt wet. The staff are very lovely and accommodating. This resort is quiet and we were in bed most nights by 10pm. There’s nowhere close by to go to apart from Guardalavarca which is a waste of time as it’s basically a bunch of vendor stalls in the middle of nowhere selling the same stuff they sell at the hotel. I would recommend that it’s best to request an upper floor room as they may not be so damp.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Good bang for your buck....

It's my 2nd time at this resort. 1st one was 10 years ago. I kinda knew what to expect, so nothing was a surprise to me. To keep it short, it's good decent hotel, obviously it's not a 5 star hotel, so if you expect to be pampered, don't. However, if you there to get away from everyday rat race and soak up the sun, you'll find it satisfactory. The main point is you going to get a good bang for your buck.

Iberostar Selection Holguin: Great Resort in Cuba!

We just returned on March 9/19 after staying at Iberostar Holgian for 7 days. Resort grounds are spread out with golf carts routinely traveling around from the main lobby, beach and pool areas. Although, the Iberostar beach wasn't usable as dredging work was being done we were able to use the beach at Playa Presquero (resort next to Iberostar). Our rooms were amazing with comfortable beds, etc. Staff and food were great too.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Love this resort

Wonderful staff, love the martin bar, Josie is so informative and so nice. Odalis at the buffet, a gem. So many of the staff so helpful and I can not mention them all. They have a wonderful memory and remember you from the last time, don't know how they do that. The grounds are beautifully kept. Rooms clean and well maintain. Clean sheets and towels everyday if requested. I hear people complain about the food, but you will never go hungry. If you want McDonalds stay home. lol. The only complaint [... read more] I have is there is not enough shade around the Villa Pool, and to many visitors are still marking the chairs at the beach and then not using them. Wish they could do something about that.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Enjoyed our stay

This hotel is great for a 3 Star Cuban vacation. Staff are very friendly, lots of options for dinner and lots of places to walk or bike to. Beach is beautiful but not a lot of shade for sitting there. Had a great two week vacation here. Rooms are always clean, but some are very old and need some repair work. We enjoyed the pool near the bungalows the best as it is quieter.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: More Like Club "Buen Tiempo" Amigo

This is my second trip to Club Amigo. I went in 2011 and this year. I've been to Havana and Varedero in the past as well. The resort proper has improved considerably. We had a great time and would recommend it and go again. (We would not use the same tour package) It's a three and a half star resort (mostly because it is clean, safe and cheap). However, you get what you pay for so the food is passable but barely, the nightly entertainment is pretty good by half and the staff hit or miss. We  [... read more]had great maid service but passive aggressive bar service. It can be vice a versa so suck it up. What are you? Sinatra? The tipping will drive you up a wall as everyone has their hand out. Yes, it's how they make a living but still it can be annoying after seven days. You don't have to tip for every drink you get at the bar but you want the staff to see that you are appreciative for their service. So BE SEEN tipping or if you're making a night of it introduce yourself to the bartender and pass him a 10 spot for the night. You don't have to tip but you'll find it really screws with your karma. (Also the peso is now only in coin so unless you are willing to carry tons of change with you, you end up tipping the next currency up which is 3 pesos. Tricky. Figure on about 100 to 150 convertible pesos in tipping for the week.) The resort is clean (TIP your maid daily a peso or 2 and at the end) but the sink in our room leaked badly. Meh. We lived with it. The room isn't that important as you won't be in it much except for daily wardrobe changes and afternoon naps. (Oh, you'll nap.) If something should take five minutes to do, you can be assured the staff will find a way to to take 25 minutes. They pace themselves so you should too! Don't sweat the small stuff or you'll be miserable. The excursions through the resort are very good. Don't skip the "free" ones as they are often even better. They have fun stuff planned through the day (contests, games, dance lessons, exercise groups, etc.) but you have to be pro-active and most of it takes place in the main pool via the hotel. We rent a moped (rental office is off resort but nearby) and have a ball riding through Guardalavaca. Get it for 24 hours (it's the best value) and it will be safe in the resort over night. Walk the La Guanas Eco Nature Trail. It's 3 pesos for the most amazing views. Do the half day bus tour to Holguin with a tour guide. (You see and do more and you're home before it's too hot.) Don't give out "care packages" randomly or you will get swarmed and mobbed. It's not pleasant and things can get out of hand pretty fast. (If you're so inclined give to churches, schools and resort staff.) RESPECT the sun and worship responsibly or you can ruin your trip with hives, burns and sun flu. (The sun and free booze can be your friend or your worst nightmare. Juega seguro!) They have a lot of regulars at Club Amigo who swear by the resort and will be glad to fill you in on particulars and when the weather is perfect every day it's very hard not to enjoy yourself. Go to meals when they first open or the pickins will be sparse. (Check out the pizza place. It's not part of the resort but pizza is good and cheap! You'll wait an hour for it but it's worth it) Buy lots of bottled water for your room. Lots! The beach is gorgeous and the three pool areas are lovely. So like the song says, "Why don't you leave your cares and troubles behind and tell 'em your new address is where they stay up late and drink to their blind and fine but never the less their glad to see you in c-u-b-a"!

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Beautiful & Low Key

We had an amazing time! Great beaches amazing locals and never ending fun! It is not an upscale resort but that made it more palatable. Everyone was so friendly from the workers to the guests! Ashleys cafe makes the best coffees and they quickly leaned out orders. If I had one complaint it would be that the beds were hard- but with so much to do and so much beauty how much time will you want to spend in bed?

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Come for the sun, stay for the people

This was our first time down south, and the people at this resort were incredible! Every member of staff was amazingly friendly, and spoke to you as if you were family, not someone paying to be there.

Playa Pesquero: Super resort!

The beach is gorgeous. The food is delicious, all restaurants serve lobsters. At the lobby bar are plenty of international drinks. The staff is very friendly. There are lots of activities for all ages.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Beautiful Resort! We had an awesome time!

This is our second time to Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca. We brought our teenage daughters with us, and everyone had an amazing time. The resort is beautiful with all of the white sand and coral, and the grounds are well-maintained. The staff are very helpful, and polite for the most part. PROS: - Beautiful property. Shout-out to Leonel Mendoza, who was an excellent guide!! We actually went out with Leonel twice. - There is just an awesome vibe at Club Amigo - laid back. - The A La Carte restaurants - the food and service was always amazing! - They gave us a special dinner because we were returning guests! CONS: - The food at the buffets. There should be more of a selection. It is essentially the same food every day. We stayed at a resort in Varadero last year and the food was great. It shouldn't really be that different here. - The loud music until 2am at the local beach bar. - The resort is quite large, so it can be a fair walk from point A to B. That being said, the staff was always driving around in golf carts and picked you up if you wanted a lift.

Playa Pesquero: Beautiful Resort!

Recently returned home from a week's stay at this beautiful resort. Second visit to this resort in 4 years, some updates and changes, but overall still as peaceful as ever. Staff go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable and the best that it can possibly be. Resort is very well maintained, pool grounds are immaculate, and food is plentiful with lots of variety.
