Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Great hotel and service

We came back 2 days ago from Cuba We, me and my husband had a great time in this hotel Iberostar Bella Vista Varadero. The room was clean and with enough space to move around with all the necessary things. The entertainment at the beach and the swimming pool was fun The Lobby bar tenders guys was service minded and very Cham, the amazing coctel ready at anytime all around the hotel .I will recommended the hotel to others The food is an issue

Grand Memories Varadero: Worth the money

Beautiful and clean beach and pool, food was good but not so much variety which is understandable because of all the global shortages. The only thing that needs to be changed is the Mattresses in the bedrooms. They are extremely old and uncomfortable to the point that I was better off sleeping on the floor

Sol Varadero Beach: Absolutely Amazing

When we booked this originally. It was based on old pictures. They have recently updated the resort. We weren't sure what to expect when getting there. This resort was absolutely incredible. Beautiful updated rooms. Beach was one of a kind. There was quite a bit of selection for the buffet food. Also the 24 hour snack bar was on point. I don't think there was anything negative about this resort. Side note. 90% of the resort was French Canadian. Not that anything is wrong with that, just as a c [... read more]ouple that only speaks English it was limited in finding good conversations. Maybe just coincidence. Service was amazing as usual for Cuba.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Great time!

I have been to Cuba several times and this was a great resort. All the staff are so friendly and accommodating and the beach is beautiful. The food is made very well despite all the restrictions. Would go again! The only thing - I wish the pools had more shade but the beach had plenty!

Paradisus Varadero: Opportunity for improvement

This hotel has good bones but has been allowed to get run down Beautiful water pools in the main lobby should be filled with water lilies and tropical plants. Not the case - one pool does have carp and a turtle but the others are polluted. Bad first impression The beach is beautiful as are the pools. Food is not what we have been used to at a 5 star resort but [... read more] for most people there is always something to eat. They still struggle with running out of some products. For example ran out of eggs, sliced bread for tart 2 days out of 14; no butter. At dinner they always served the same thing - para, chicken quesidiela or grilled chicken. Like I said however most people where able to find something to enjoy for dinner Disappointing that they closed 2 of the speciality restaurants with no compensation for the client. I have to question how they tach Taff to wash floors. On more than one occasion I witnessed he maids taking water to wash the floors from the polluted water in the pools. Then they threw the dirty water back in the same pool. You could see the bristles from the brush floating in the water. Rooms were basic but kept clean. Beds comfortable. Bathroom design was terrible in 3524 a wheelchair accessible room. There was no way to have a shower without flooding th floor - a disaster waiting to happen The outside lighting entering into our room was burned out. I reported the problem the first morning after we got there. It looked like the tried to fix it but were unsuccessful and didn't come back in the 14 days of our stay. It is dangerous to try and navigate a wheelchair ramp in the dark. I did trip a few times on the paver and almost fell. Good thing I had travel insurance. When we booked our trip, I requested wheelchair service at the airport - no issues, a great help. I also requested a room on the first floor as there are no elevators at the resort On arrival, they had my husband and I in a room on the third floor. It took the rest of the day to find us accommodations. House staff denied that I made a request and tried to blame TripCentral for not submitting my request. The next morning they admitted that they did have the request. There is a lot of potential to improve this resort. I understand that they have a new manager who just arrived from Spain so perhaps he will get things shipshape again. As far as COVID - good spacing in the main dining hall; some staff wore masks No restrictions in tour buses but tourists wore masks. Hope you find this review helpful.

Memories Jibacoa: A great vacation

We just returned from a week at Memories Jibacoa and are happy with our choice of resort. The location is beautiful with the resort nestled between mountains and the sea. Everything was super clean and maintained, the staff were friendly and helpful, the entertainment was enjoyable and the food was good. The resort is relatively small so everything is close. Our ocean view room was definitely worth the extra charge. No complaints at all with the resort. Travel with Sunwing was frustrating t [... read more]o say the least. We endured a 6 hour delay going and a 2 hour delay coming home. The 6 hour delay was due to a concern with the plane. We ended up moving to a new plane and got to the resort at 3 am. Coming home the delay was due to several crew members calling in sick and having to round up replacements. I don't recommend Sunwing but I do recommend Memories Jibacoa.

Melia Internacional: Very nice resort - some observations of note

Here are a few observations from my recent trip at the end of March 2023 - WIFI - was spotty, keeps dropping as you move around, and fastest speed I saw was 15MPS - not very reliable or fast - Coffee - the usual fulsome Cuban coffee of the past is no more - seems watered down - Food - Meh. I am not a foodie at all and can eat most anything - but the buffet selection became a bit tiresome. Good way to save paper for menus. - Cuban cigars are available at a deep discount to shop prices...ask around but only if you are comfortable taking a bit of risk - Resort is a bit 2-Tier - if you are a "Level" guest you have access to certain restaurants, a quiet pool, prime beach chairs, etc; I paid enough that I didn't want to be reminded of this daily - would be better if Level guests had their own private area that was not interspersed - While we were there, there was entertainment every night not just during the 945pm big show advertised, but also (unadvertised) were very good smaller acts (guitar, sax, singers, etc) at the red or blue bars nightly - 630pm to about 930pm - Hotel is walking distance to the edge of Varadero town - can walk all the way to the artisan market leisurely in about an hour, then a cab or 3-wheeler back to the hotel - Was pleased to see that entertainment was more Cuban/Spanish than earlier visits to Cuba where there was too much "Western" influence - ie hated seeing talented Cubans doing Michael Jackson impressions - Instead of bus pickup to the airport 4 hours before the flight, we took a cab 2 hours before and got there in plenty of time to check in and clear customs - Hotel rooms had full body pillows - loved them!

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Excellent experience, good value for money

I was very happy with my overall stay. My room had been well maintained and there were no issues. The only thing I noticed but did not let it affect my overall experience was that the cleaning staff did not clean the room daily. It appeared as if they just made the beds. There had been hair - my hair, that was never swept for the 4 days I was there. There was some dirt in between the bed and the couch which said that they did not really clean the room. Towels were not changed for clean on [... read more]es. When you go to Cuba, you do not go with high expectation of standards and you will be happy. Food was really not that bad but for Cuban standards. The place was always happening with lots of activities/ entertainment during the day and night. Great place if you want to party and enjoy loud music. I was actually looking for something quieter but I was happy to get the sun, sea and sand! Pools were amazing, beach was heavenly, except that many of the beach beds were broken. Service was excellent !!! overall facilities were the best!

Paradisus Varadero: Beautiful resort

The resort was as beautiful as the photos on the website. The rooms were immaculate and decorated beautifully. The resort staff were friendly and helpful. The pools were huge and lots of chairs were always available. Highly recommend

Hotel Bella Costa: Nice resort

We had a great few days at the Iberostar. We stayed on the 5th floor in an ocean front suite. We knew going into the vacation that the hotel was going to be out dated. We came prepared with extras like wash clothes, beach towel, extra toilet paper, hot sauce, ketchup, peanut butter, chips, candies, chocolate... lol The sheets were not fitted or white but we didn't care as long as they were clean. The beach is beautiful and the staff here were very friendly and helpful. The food was fine here [... read more]. We liked the daily barbeque of chicken, pork or beef for lunch. A lot of the same food presented at each buffet but or hot sauce spiced it up. :) Just keep in mind that Cubans do not make very much money for all the hours they work so tipping and bringing little gifts go a long way. We would go back here in the future. We like the smaller not so busy resorts plus this one is the closest one to the beach. We stayed at the Melia Internacional in January. The resort is beautiful and the rooms are new and lovely but they ran out of so many basic things. It's a much larger resort with hundreds of people. We would much rather stay here any day. Just keep in mind this is not Barbados so don't expect things to be any where near a vacation like that. We loved our 6 day trip here and would recommend this resort but please just keep an open mind. You are getting what you pay for. Enjoy!

Sol Palmeras: Good resort

Although the beach was short, it had plenty of parasols for shade and the sand was nice. It also had activities like paddleboat, kayak, catamaran, volleyball, exercises/stretching... The food was ok for Cuba (papaya, agave, canned pears, canned peaches, watermelon, pineapple, bananas), eggs/omelet for breakfast, pasta bar, pizza, fish station, pork... They were accommodating for the last day. We were given a room to go change and shower before going to eat and leave for the airport.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Wonderful Holiday

The hotel is dated, but you don’t go for the rooms. Everything is clean. Only issue with our room is that the patio door did not lock well. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Not all drinks available at all bars, so what. Take what’s available you will enjoy it. The pools are great, beach is great, weather is great, people are great. The buffet is ok, some days better than others, you won’t starve. They try their best with what they have available, which changes every day. Melia Internacional: Above expectations

Beautiful resort, only 3 yrs old It is massive so if you are looking for intimacy this is not the resort for you. The place is immaculate as evidenced by the public washrooms Buffets and bars have outdoor seating so you can enjoy the warm climate. All rooms have ocean views so you needn't pay the extra premium for ocean views. Sitting on a narrow peninsula rooms on the so called garden views actually have views of the ocean on the other side of the peninsula. Smokers will be thrilled as s [... read more]moking is allowed virtually everywhere ie outdoor patios and balconies. Suspect this is done to promote Cuban cigars. All currencies are acceptable ie Canadian, American and Cuban Pesos. There is a bank on site where you can purchase all of them. Suggest you avoid pesos, you can't sell them and the rate fluctuates depending on who you are buying from Beach is beautiful, clean, you can walk for miles in either direction and the ocean bottom is sandy and firm. Water is warm.

Melia Las Antillas: Great Vacation!

We just got back from a fabulous and relaxing week at this resort. This was our 8th time in Cuba, so we knew what to expect concerning the hotels and food. This resort is tired and needs updating, especially the rooms and bathrooms, but it's clean, and the staff is friendly. I must say I was very impressed with the food and the buffet restaurant. The pool is clean, and the beach is stunning. The entertainment is ok, and the pool show is nicely done. Colon and Raul at the pool bar are excellent and so friendly. Wendy, Ana, Laura, Marilyn, Pavel and Cachito at the buffet were amazing. Lyonel at the front desk was great, checking us in and ensuring we were happy with our room. Robert, Ramon and the ladies at the outdoor lobby bar were outstanding. The animation team was a lot of fun. Canadians were hosted to appetizers and drinks the night before we left, which was very nice. We did find the beach lacked music. Most of the action happened around the pool. There was a shortage of wine, cava, and one day milk, but it's a problem at all Cuban resorts. Management does their best to accommodate you and are all very friendly. Overall it's excellent value, and remember you're in Cuba.

Brisas Del Caribe: Amazing resort

Everything was amazing after covid felt so safe, room cleaned everyday. Aida hairstylist is amazing, Jorge the amazing egg man can’t ask for a better omelet,,Julio best waiter in resort. Pool entertainment is amazing. Clean beach . Lots to eat. Wonderful shows every night at 10 pm lots for kids to do

Blau Varadero: Blau Varadero - a very, very nice resort!

The grounds of the Blau are beautiful & well-maintained. The inside of the building is lovely as well and the bar area, activity area & upper floor restaurant are very nice and spacious. My room was terrific. The staff were all very nice & helpful. And the activities were lots of fun. The food & drinks were very good, especially at the Palma Real restaurant - extra special.

Melia Marina Varadero: Very Nice Property

We hadn't been back to Cuba in about 12 years because of the food, no improvement here. There were shortages of menu items and even Coke due to covid. The hotel itself was very nice, the rooms were as nice as any we've stayed in (4+ * in DR or Cancun). The beach was less than expected compared to Cayo Santa Maria. The service was pretty good but the hotel was only about 25% filled. The location is interesting with an empty marina and condos surrounding the property. Other issues WIFI not g [... read more]reat, we had no hot water for 3 days, it rained heavily 3 straight nights and there was a smell of sewage from the marina and swim up bar. We had a clogged drain in our room but it was attended to immediately. Beyond that better beer and rum than DR or Mexico. Basically was all we were expecting from post covid Cuba.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Amazing Resort

As first timers this was an amazing experience. The food was not great but we always found something to eat. Everything else was exceptional including the staff. Everyone was so welcoming. I will be back

Starfish Jibacoa: Nice resort

Clean resort beach wasn't good lots of sea weed and rocks pool was nice food was ok been to cuba lots of times so it is what it is I enjoyed my time and I will return staff are amazing everything was good

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Great resort AMAZING staff

Exterior could use some TLC but overall clean. Buffet could use a change from the repetitive food especially at the grill. The gentlemen that worked at the front were wonderful especially Marcos and Alex. The ladies in the buffet are amazing friendly
