Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Beautiful place!

This was our 8th time in Cuba and first time at Playa Cayo Santa Maria. We loved everything about this place. Bus driver told us that it is 100% owned by Cubans and we were impressed. Beech looks unreal, heavenly (14 km long) and the garden around the bungalows is the most beautiful we've seen so far in Cuba. Place is very well maintained and very clean. Food was the best we had in Cuba so far and people are amazing, warm, friendly, proud and humble. Melia Buenavista: Hidden Gem

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Good resort

I had a wonderful time at Dhawa, the resort is well kept especially the grounds with lots of different flowers. The food is ok with different variety. The staff is very helpful and always with a smile.

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Okay for the price

got an awsome price so we took 2 weeks. We are a family of 4 with 2 young children. Hotel location and landscape : 8.5/10 Beach: 9/10 Service : 8/10 Amneties: 6/10 most are run down or non functioning. Room: 5/10 Average cleaning Old beds. Nasty pillows. Bathroom below average Nice view good insonorisation Food: 6.5/10 repetitive with good choice of fresh fruit at breakfast entertainment: 6/10

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Comfortable place

The area was very well maintained. Very clean. Good service and food was as expected in Cuba. Rooms were ok. Messed up our room with one bed instead of two. Next room that we moved to had bed bugs. Beach was great and pools were good.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Amazing resort!

Outstanding service from time of arrival to time of departure. The food was great and plentiful. The resort was well maintained and our bungalow was only a few minutes away from the beach. The maids did a fabulous job every day and all the staff were very friendly.

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Amazing Beach and Sand!!!!

Concerning the resort, here is the low down: Pros - Beach was absolutely amazing! We had one day when it was rough waters, but we were still able to get in. Other than that crystal clear! We went out on the catamaran and I asked the guy how deep the water was and he said about 4-6 m, I was still able to see the bottom. Had WiFi available throughout the resort. Food was pretty decent - repetitive though. Stir fry, pizza, noodles, grill available for lunch and dinner. 24 h snack bar [... read more] was really good, but wait is a bit long. They have a seafood, Italian, and Asian restaurant as well. Didn't eat at the seafood one, but the others were really good. Ok - We were at the resort 7 years ago and noted that not much had changed. Rooms were the exact same as when we went years ago, but still a bit more modern then some of the older hotels. Cons - MOSQUITOES! We were perfectly fine until Thursday and then they just kept swarming us when not on the beach. For some reason they weren't fumigating like they used to, not sure why. Service - It was good don't get me wrong, but noticed that they didn't know how to speak English very well, especially in the buffet area. We would say something to them, good or bad, and all they would do is just nod yes. My mom was telling them about a dirty spoon and the waiter kept nodding yes. She was like I want a clean one and he was like yes you have a spoon. I just noticed that they weren't as wanting to help out as they did before. There was a waitress at the lobby bar in the morning - wouldn't do anything. Asked for a latte, she said go to the coffee bar. I said they're coffee was better and then she was like the machine is broken just as another waitress was bringing one out from the back. I looked at her and then she was like I can't leave the front and there isn't anybody else to cover the front. Unfortunately with this waitress, it wasn't the first time she tried this, but a few. Otherwise, all was good! I would forget about all of the other things just to have the nice, calm beaches again - with no mosquitoes!

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Very nice looking resort

Traveled Jun 12 -23 via Sunwing. This a fairly new resort rooms and all hotel area are nice. Beach area is great lots white sand and crystal blue water with bar service near. The only problem with beach was 15-20 min walk to nearest washroom and no food service near beach.Restaurants ok not much selection.Buffet was good at breakfast but was daily repeat for lunch and dinner.No pork very limited seafood what they had was gone first 5 min of open They had a beef grill that serve steak like  [... read more]shoe leather. We ended up eating a lot of pasta. Near the end of our 10 day stay we asked if they had pig roast like many other resorts in Cuba. We got a chuckle from what seemed to be management staff. Main bar was managed by Yetzy her and staff fantastic getting to know customers needs keep up the good work Yetzy. Our biggest problem was with Sunwing rescheduling our return flight lost a full day and thanks to some other passengers who notified us of changes 10: 30 pm departure next day turned into a 6:15 am departure plus a stop over in cayo coco.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Needs renovation

Room decor was tired, fridge was grungy, only soft drinks supplied were cola & orange, the gardeners appreciated them. Hot water always available, shower worked although the spray was erratic. Toilet flushed but frequently did not clear. Room was equipped with a kettle & tea bags. Upon request we got a coffee maker & coffee. Bars ran out of Sprite early on, soda water was usually available on a hit & miss basis. Buffet had a reasonable variety, pretty much what we expected although we did not  [... read more]expect a seemingly never ending supply of smoked salmon. That was a definite plus for us. Snack bar was as it has been on our previous visits, basic fare, nicely cooked & cheerfully presented. Beach grill ditto. Specialty restaurants were another story. The Japanese was OK, although fake something was substituted for shrimp. The other two, no fish, no shrimp, no humus, tempura vegetables were not! Simply cold, naked vegetables. The Millefeuille Potatoes turned out to be cold mashed squash. Simply put, the dishes bore little or no resemblance to the descriptions on the menus.

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Could be better

Hotel is definitely not luxurious. Pool area had moldy, smelly puddles that were not being cleaned properly. People smoked in the pool regardless of whether babies were there or not. Food is ok. Staff is amazing

Roc Lagunas del Mar: Amazing beaches

Went to Labranda for a week. Beautiful beaches. Nice resort. Food was edible. Staff was extremely nice. Ala cartes were ok. Lots of nice pools. Swim up bar. Fresh bottled water pop n beer stocked daily in room. Beach bar was excellent. Good service.

Hotel resort only customers service not to good only two people working to serve 50 peoples not to quick for service always to busy but my card for my room did not work for 5 time I phone in for help couldn't help me add to go in front my self to fixed it 5 times

The resort is well kept with beautiful gardens, very modern rooms with a spectacular beach!! Staff are very courteous and friendly. We booked with the privilege package, our butler Arley was very attentive to our needs and very friendly. Once Arley found out it was our Anniversary, he made special arrangements for a beautiful dinner for me and my family.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Love this Resort

Love staying here. It is very clean and well kept. Gardeners are always outside maintaining the grounds, and they are very friendly. Staff my favourite was Elizabeth and Arley, they always made me feel welcome and made sure my family and i had everything we needed. Front desk though needs work. When you call them they tell you they will come and help no problem but do not show up. Some buildings are more up to date then others. But every room is always clean. On arrival you might not alw [... read more]ays have your bar fridge stocked i find if you arrive on a later flight, but will always be stocked the next day. Beach is AMAZING!!! if you are a beach person this is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Crystal clear and you can go snorkelling in shallow waters and see some pretty cool fish without having to go deep sea diving. Service in the buffet is amazing once you find your server they will make sure to take care of you the rest of the week and will always look out for you. Privilege is also good service. Food is always made fresh and yummy! (Menu consists of mostly eggs) fruit is fresh and so is the juice. All around i love coming to Oceans i’ve now been three times and have no complaints.

Roc Lagunas del Mar: 3/5

My partner and I travel to Cayo Santa Maria every year and go to different resorts. Out of every resort we have been to this was the worst. The service wasn’t good, the food came late (i didn’t realize it takes 30 mins to grill 1 small hotdog), the wasn’t a good variety of food choices, the a la carte gave us food poisoning, and the servers weren’t the kindest. The only good part about this hotel was the maid and the beach. Our room was cleaned every day and styled nicely.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Best Beach in Cuba: Ensenachos

Ensenachos beach is gorgeous, best beach in Cuba. Service was great and the staff is friendly. Hotel grounds are well maintained. Rooms were decent and the food was ok. Great value for a family getaway.

Melia Las Dunas: Best Vacation Yet

The beaches are the nicest in the world, the staff are exceptional and appreciate tips, the food was good. Catamaran fantastic! We went in July and really enjoyed our stay! Thanks Melia Las Dunas and thank you Trip Central! Cheers..... With Love Dianne & Mark

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Dated Resort

This resort is rather dated. Although the price for the resort was reasonable and people would argue that you get what you pay for, there were still some issues with the resort that no one should have to tolerate. Our room safe would not lock and repeated calls to have it fixed went unheeded. Some of the floor tiles in the room were cracked and the shower head struggled to provide an adequate supply of water. Having said that, the room was always kept clean by the cleaning staff every day. The [... read more] pool area around the swim up bar had what appeared to be black mould on the walls and the water in the two main pools was often quite murky. The pool staff would often ask everyone to leave the pools while they shocked them with large buckets of chemicals, then walk away and not monitor the pool. People would come off the beach and jump into the pool seconds after the chemicals had been applied. The rinse showers beside the pools closest to the beach were broken so people would often rinse off the sand on their feet in the pool.. Food at the buffet was poor with minimal variety and often cold. However the a la carts were quite good (Asian, Italian and Seafood / Romantico ) and the service was excellent and very friendly. The beach is second to none and the water was beautiful with a sandy bottom with no foot surprises. Having been to Cuba over fifteen times, we would say Santa Maria has the best beach, but unfortunately the same cannot be said for the Playa Santa Maria resort. I would not recommend this resort to our friends.

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Don't go There!

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I would give it a 1 star only because of the beautiful beach. The hotel is not maintained and needs a lot of upgrades. The a/c was not working in my first room. It took 2 days to fix a broken toilet. We found a cockroach in buffet area beside food and at the bathroom sink in the a la carte restaurant. The electrical outlets were hanging off the walls. The stair banisters were loose and safety bar in shower. There was lights out in some floor  [... read more]and it was very dark & a safety issue. The public bathrooms had no toilet paper &/or soap. The grounds smelled like a sewer after a rainfall. The sliding patio door had a broken lock and spaces at bottom where moths & mosquitos came in room at night - we had to put towels down to prevent this. Stained pillow cases and bedding in first room. We spent 5 days going back and forth to hotel lobby to get issues fixed. We were supposed to have 2 adjoining rooms and were given our 2 room numbers on tuesday and told to come back at 5pm for keys. We went back and 1 room was given to someone else. We were told we had to wait until thursday if we wanted the 2 side by side rooms until new people moved out. Buffet was not great. Tv in first room did not work. Tv in second room worked but no converter and started to sizzle and smelled like it was burning after 1/2 an hour. Phone did not work in 1st room - no phone in second room

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Excellent location but poor services

We were impressed by the beaches and chef Luciano's gourmet food served daily at the buffet. The spark of these excellent marks was diminished by the lack of consistency in services, the fact that room service is ending at 5 pm and if you need an extra bottle of water they refuse to give it to you. We have to use the same beach towels for 4 days because nobody knew when they'll be able to provide fresh ones. The public toilets run out of toilet paper plus they were in a desperate need of repairs [... read more]. I found crouches running on my chair in the Japanese restaurant so our appetite just disappeared and we left the restaurant. The sofas and chairs in the main hallway need a very good cleaning and overall a good cleaning may help the hole resort. I will give a 5* for food and beaches and a 3.5* for services
