Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: First time at Grand Muthu

This resort is amazing. The grounds are well kept. Rooms are modern and clean. 3 pools. just beautiful. Staff friendly and helpful. The beach is a little walk but hey on vacation, a little exercise does not hurt. A la carte restaurant very very good. The only negative is the buffet. Not much choice, food cold. I'm not fussy but had trouble finding food that I could eat. Bellmen are prompt and efficient Reception number one. Big shout out to Yuri and the staff at reception. Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Shortage of food!!!!

The resort itself is amazing , most of the staff in the restaurant with you don't give them a tips they will never give smile not even to greet you. The foods are the worst !!! I NO MANY OPTION ,NO ENTERTAINMENT ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY NO ACTIVITIES DURING THE DAY MAYBE BECAUSE ONLY FEW PEOPLE IN THE RESORT .. the internet it's amazing the signal is excellent !!!! bit they give you only 3hrs ,but you can sign in just to go to the front desk they unlock you .. Melia Costa Rey: Best Cuba trip yet

The hotel and staff were awesome! There were a couple things not available but no big deal, food was incredible, beach was beautiful, staff and guests were so nice. I would definitely go back but never again with air Canada. That was hugely disappointing.

Cuba is doing it right where Covid is concerned. I had huge reservations about travelling again and quickly realized that there were many protocols in place to protect from the spread of Covid. All staff wore masks anywhere there was there was interaction with guests. Where masks were mandatory the staff were not shy about reminding guest of the requirements to not only mask but to where it properly. There was no shortage of food or selections of food. Beach is absolutely beautiful, well maintained. Beach and boat staff were always friendly and helpful. Bar staff were clearly not happy. There was never enough staff to keep up with clearing tables. You were always required to stand at bar and order and transport drinks yourself. It was truly a hit and a miss for you to feel either welcome or as an inconvenience. Coffee ordered on one side of bar and everything else on the other side, resulting in the necessity to line up twice and somehow get it back to your table. Selection of drinks was good just the process not so much. Check in was extremely slow, staff were not friendly. We have been to Cuba many times and the friendly staff is what brings us back, Covid May have resulted in many new untrained staff in key areas, simply not enough staff in some areas to handle the work load. I emailed the Pullman resort two weeks before our arrival requesting an al-a-carte for my husbands birthday and never heard back. This is a lovely resort they just need more staff to eliminate the workload required. Keep in mind this is not the busy season.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Spare yourself the disappointment and stay somewhere else.

Pool and beach were the high point everything else was bad. The screwed me out of a room with a queen bed and gave me 2 doubles.. then threaten me with a no ocean view room without compensation for the change. Customer service staff are useless. Maids either replaced our towels with dirty ones or merely picked the towels off the floor still wet and hung them back up hoping we wouldn’t notice. One day they left us with no toilet paper and when I asked for a roll at the front desk they handed me [... read more] a little waded up bundle and told me I would have to wait for the maids to come in later in the day. There are thousands of flies in the buffet area all over the food constantly I felt like I was in an episode of lord of the flies, enjoy eating the fly excrement with every bit you eat. I watched kitchen staff at the snack bar wipe noses and sweat off heads with bare hands and returned to prep food without washing… on one occasion I saw a completely naked Cuban gent walk right be the prep station at the snack bar and I can only imagine that they have a shower back there but REALLY. Service sucked hotel managerial staff were not helpful and actually were very rude. The area is nice but not worth the disappointment avoid at all cost or stay and don’t eat there… if you come back with Covid it’s likely the staff not adhering to safety protocols. I generally don’t give bad reviews but from the sunwing rep on-site to just about every element of the vacations this one completely deserves it,with the exception of the pool and the beach everything else was just sad. For a large portion of the vacation the only drinks they had were beer, wine and rum, the had no vodka, tequila, whiskey, or red wine… was happy to get out of there.. book elsewhere and I will be contacting sunwing to discuss the lack of assistance from there rep and hotel staff in resolving our room issue… 🤦🏽

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Very clean resort!

This hotel was very well priced. The grounds are beautiful and clean. Lots of food at the buffet. Our room was kept very clean, no shortage of fresh towels. Pizza at the beach is amazing. Not sure why they didn't have churros at the resort this time. This is our 5th time at this resort. I really like this resort because its not too big. It has the most amazing beach in all of Cayo Coco. The tide goes out during the day and its spectacular. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I will  [... read more]return to this resort again.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Disappointing

Tryp Hotel I had a trip booked from May 4-11/22. After 2 days we moved to another resort. We had to move rooms 3 times and even on the 3 move the floor was wet from the faulty air conditioner. The rooms are very old and in need of makeovers Food and beverages were hard to come by and what we did get wasn’t very nice. Wine wasn’t available as listed on line. Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Lovely time

We enjoyed our time at the Esmeralda, the staff was lovely, they made a cake for my husband’s birthday and we’re so very kind and helpful. There were a few small issues that were quickly resolved. We enjoyed our Cuban night meal the most. The food was lovely, despite the challenges of supplies. I wouldn’t rate this as a North American 5 star but a solid 3.5which was lovely.

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Trip- Central and others are Misrepresenting the Public

Good Afternoon Karol: Let me first start off by saying that my wife and I enjoyed our vacation ( a vacation is what one makes the best of it , regardless ) inlight of the many issues / concerns listed here, and thus it is obvious that Canadian Travel Companies including tripcentral are out of touch with what is really happening We booked at the Colonial Resort in Cayo Coco; however the travel company changed it to the El Mojito Resort ( apparently at 3.5 to 4 star Rating. During our wal [... read more]kon the beach, we found out that the Colonial has been closed for a couple of months, yet it is still offered. El Mojito did not provide the type of room per our reservation ( balcony ) . This did get sorted out at extant cost to us. The El Mojito clientele is made up of about 85% local Cubas and 15% International, with only about 30 percent of the facility open. The El Mojito has serious food shortages of all types, including bread, butter, (attached photos show typical available foods throughout our stay. We have been all over Cuba about 30 times over a 25 years period and can say without exaggeration the food issue here was the second worst. The rating for the Mojito should be closer to 2.5 Star. Sometimes there was no wheat flour for bread or pizzas. Breakfasts typically included beans, mashed potatoes, watery scrambled eggs, hardboiled eggs, cabbage. Usually there were two omelette stations with excessively long lines. Bread and butter were virtually always unavailable as many Cubanans " Hoarded the Bread & Butter '' ( many individuals piled stacks of bread & butter ( each person would have about 6-8 slabs of butter and 6-8 bread buns) to the point there would not be any left....in the staff would only replenish about every 20-30 minutes. Desserts / Sweets ( same reason as the Bread & Butter) Fresh fruit was available, but lacking. Not a 4 star place. Lunch and Dinner offerings were not much different from the breakfasts. The Bread & Butter issue the same. The Offering for vegetables was minimal, but we did have rice. With respect to meat, there was usually some type of chicken or pork stew. The meat Grill Stations were difficult due to the Hoarding by Locals. Typically individuals would pile 10-15 pieces of grilled meat onto one plate and then leave nothing for others. Evening entertainment was almost non existent except for" Kids" night. The Representative from Sunwing / Air Transit only showed up about 2 times over the 14 day period. Following our group meeting ( indepth) with Management the "A La Carte" dining was made available for Breakfast for Canadians . We did make the best of it, as the staff were wonderful. However we would NOT recommend this place to anyone unless there were changes In closing Trip- Central and others are Misrepresenting the Public in their Offerings of what is truly available and they are " Out of Touch" of what is likely happening everywhere in Cuba. Hotel Playa Paraiso: Great Week April 29 - May 7

Myself and my daughter visited this resort April 29th to May 7. What an amazing week we had. We met so many great people from visitors like ourselves and staff. Can’t say enough about the staff, friendly helpful kind …the list goes on. Drinks were great food was fine, we don’t go to cuba for the food we go for the awesome people and beaches amd this beach is just gorgeous, lots chairs no need to get up early. Only thing that could use some upgrading is the A/C in the buffet, it’s hot in there, can’t imagine what the staff feels like cooking and serving. Other then that we really enjoyed our stay. 3 years past due. Thank for a great week away! We will likely go back.

Melia Costa Rey: love this resort

Travelled to Pullman several times and never dissappointed. There for a few weeks in April. Staff wear masks at all times and we found maintaining distance easy. There are 5 restaurants and a few buffets as well Beach bars. Large pools.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Overall a Great vacation!

We stayed at memories Flamenco for 4 nights and had a wonderful time overall. Our room was clean and we had hot water(although pressure wasn’t the best). We stayed in building 6 which was very close to the beach and the swimming pool. There are about 11 buildings in total. Food wasn't the best which shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. They lacked basic things such as salt, pepper, sugar, bread, etc. some days were better than others. Sweets were pretty good. We had A la carte dinner and the bes [... read more]t one was Italian. Asian was the worst, the sushi was a joke, and we left half way. Alcohol selection was limited, and only a few options to choose from. Also during the day there are not many food options except hotdogs and burgers by the snack bar and usually they come without a bun. The beach was amazing, so beautiful and magical. Not so busy and we always had seats available. A few things to remember to take with you: Make sure u have first aid kit such as bandage and polysporin, also medication such as Advil or Tylenol. It is impossible to find any there. Terry at the buffet really went above and beyond to ensure we have a great experience, thank you Terry! Manuel from Air canada was also very helpful and knowledgable. Overall we had a great time, thank you Memories Flamenco ❤️

Tryp Cayo Coco: Honest Review

I will never go back to this resort. The hotel is OLD, run down, it was over run by Cuban tourists who overtook the hotel. We could not walk around, get a pop or coffee at the beach bar or lounge bar, buffet was a nightmare. The guests would step in front of us and get service first even though we had been waiting in line. They would order MASS quantities of food and not even eat it which was sickening knowing that there are people on that island that are in such poverty. My mother had her  [... read more]sandals stolen from the room, we were approached by three other Canadian guests at the hotel who had their cell phones and other personal belongings stolen at the beach and pool. The pool attendant saw who it was and the police were called. They searched the suspects room (who were Cuban) and some of the items were returned to the victims but the thieves were allowed to stay at the hotel until they checked out two days later. We felt completely unsafe there. The hotel manager called and invited us to a lunch which i completely regretted bcs it wasted 2.5 hours of our day and I got sick after eating the chicken. We have been to Cayo Coco four times at different resorts and I have never felt so unsafe and un welcome. I understand that the resort cannot control if other guest steal but they can train their staff to serve the guest that was standing in line first and to cut off guests that are severely inebriated. The pools were filthy, old, broken in certain areas which I can understand but this should be listed on their website to let people know what the resort REALLY looks like. It looks nothing like the pictures on your website. The rooms were disgusting, mattresses SO old and absolutely filthy. In the town of Moron, we got haggled by thugs wanting a bag of clothes in our jeep during the safari. They were asking for money. It was just sick. Yet they are wearing designer clothes that not even I have at home. I have been given a truly different perception of Cuba and I will not travel there again.

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Great resort

Enjoyed our stay here. Rooms were lovely. Beach was soft white and went on forever. Staff was fabulous. Food was good for Cuba. Pastries were fantastic. Cigar lounge was fun. All in all a great trip. (tends to be windy here so be prepared)

Melia Cayo Coco: Beautiful beach, friendly staff, good food

Room 3 star, rooms are old but clean. Broken toilet seat was repaired within 1/2 day. Twice we lost water pressure so we could not shower. Sliding doors were broken. Bed was very firm but good. Beach 4.5 star, beautiful sand. Beautiful bay 0.5km down beach. Catamaran's (hobie cat) are very old and broken, but usable. Cuban government doesnt maintain them. They desperately need fiberglass resin and any parts for a 15 foot hobie (jib sheets, sail repair kits, forestay, bridle wires, any cables [... read more] etc). Food: some deserts are very good, some cakes tend to be very dry and tasteless. Ice cream was good (dont expect regular vanilla). Any steak or beef is very tough and leather like. Chicken, pork, pasta and some vegtables are very good. Omelettes are excellent. Buffet restaurant had lots of variety, cuban restaurant beside beach was very good for lunch or dinner, international restaurant was very good. Staff are always friendly. Many staff speak good english, many dont understand english. People tend to give lots of tips and gifts to staff. So staff are wealthy compared to the average cuban resident. Tipping is best done in canadian bills. Loonies accepted but they try to sell them back to tourists for clean unmarked bills. They gratiously accept older unlocked cellphones that are in very good condition. They gratiously accept bathroom products like toothpaste, soap, kids tooth brushes etc. Covid. All staff wear masks. 2 of 4 in our group caught covid at the resort and felt symptoms on the last day there. Buffet is not self serve due to covid. Entertainment was ok. Cat lovers will love many free roaming cats on the premises that add a special atmosphere.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Incredible people and amazing beach

We have stayed at Memories Flamenco for 3 weeks (April 1-April 22, 2022!!! Yes, I know, sounds like a very extensive vacation:) it was long overdue, so we decided, why not?! We travelled as group of 4 (with 2 small kids under age of 7) and were later joined by 3 more family members, (they stayed for a shorter period of time). First of all, Cuba has been through very tough times due to Covid as traveling was significantly reduced + frequent hurricanes, so I think people need to be understanding  [... read more]that this country is still recovering from all the loses, hence, some things might not work as expected (e.g. very low water pressure in showers/ beach showers are broken or don’t exist - would be very handy to wash the sand off your feet, but you gotta do it in your room, etc) or have limited supply (there were days when there were no disposable cups at the beach bars, so we couldn’t get any water/drinks - suggest to bring your own reusable one). However, people were absolutely amazing at the resort and would go well far and beyond to make your vacation enjoyable. Wanted to say special ‘Thanks’ to staff at the buffet who were so caring and always remembered what we preferred to drink/eat. Thank you so much Juli (Juriannis Moreira Rodriguez and Jeni (Jennari Morales Villanueva), you made our stay very special! Also, special thanks to Enme, our Air Transat Rep, who, in spite of Hotel being overbooked (Sunwing had issues that week and people had to stay few extra days at the resort as thee were no flights back home) helped us to negotiate late checkout. Our flight home was late at night and without his help, we would’ve ended up burning on a sun all day long with 2 small kids, (my 2 year old also still naps during the day). Thankfully, Enme, was able to push the management and get our room extended all the way till departure. Beach was absolutely stunning with plenty of room for all; no need to rush early in the morning and get your chairs, beach area was very spacious, so you could always find a room… my 6 year old really enjoyed ‘Kids Club’. It was her most favourite place to be. She claimed it was more fun than swimming with dolphins… oh well, at least we tried:)) The only thing we found irritating was room keys that never seemed to work - had to bring them back to the lobby to fix every second day, which was frustrating. Please fix this.

Small beautiful resort ! Very nice beach . Impressive team from the gardener, servers up to general manager ( I met her at 6 am on the beach organizing beach chairs supplies when the hotel was full occupied) Excellent food and patisserie. I would return in a heartbeat!

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Lovely Resort

Nice, pleasant vacation spot. Easy size to access all the amenities, staff are very welcoming, pleasant and helpful. Rooms are ok, could use a bit of updating but due to current conditions it is difficult to get necessary materials in Cuba. This was my second visit to memories caribe and I would definitely return

We had such a great experience here and we'll definitely go back. The room was nice, clean and comfortable. The view was incredible. The beach, pools, grounds, everything was beautiful. Staff were super!

Gran Muthu Imperial: Disappointed in the staff

While the resort was very nice, clean and well kept, the staff in our opinion may want to remember that we are their guests and maybe remember that you have to acknowledge your guests. On NUMEROUS occasions we had to wait for any inter-reaction because they were so busy talking to each other … in the dining room trying to get a glass of water to go with our meal, or a drink at the bar.
