Barcelo Maya Grand Resort: Just ok resort

The beach wasn't the best. Very rocky. A ton of seaweed. Room and pool was great!! Food was ok, no beach bar or BBQ. A la carte restaurants just average. Tokyo was awesome!!! Seen turtles off of the palace beach.

Palma Real: Location is key!

I was very pleased with this resort. When I arrived, I was greeted with a smile and was able to get access to my room right away (got the at 11 am). The rooms are a good size. There were minimal food options, but when in Cuba!! It is only about a 5 minute walk from the Beatles bar which is exactly what I wanted.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Nicest resort ever!

Absolutely beautiful. Very nicely located, amazingly built in the jungle and you get to see monkeys! I visited with my daughter, son in law and my grandchildren. My grandchildren didn't want to leave, They had so much fun in the ocean and the swimming pools. Highly recommend to families.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Absolutely paradise

We love everything about this resort. Food is great, staff is friendly, rooms are clean, beach is stunning...and I could go on and on. We've been to countless others, but have decided that this is the only one we will return to again and again.

Allegro Cozumel: Great resort!

The grounds were kept so well and the rooms are nicely decorated. We loved the premium section with the amenities in the clubhouse. Continental breakfast every morning was just right! Our chamber maid kept our room very well and always made us feel special. The only downside was the pool table needs to be refelted and only one cue is not broken.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Loved every minute of my trip

This resort was excellent. The only thing about this resort I did not like was that there are 2 sections of the resort (pools and resturants) that you can not use unless your apart of their vacation club that costs like 18 000 usd or more. That part is like a time share. And you will need asked to sit thru a 90 min presentation which ends up being 2. 5 hrs. Now on to the good stuff. Our breakfast and lunch waiter William was fantastic. The show didn't start till 9:30 which was late for me. I go for the sun so I am up early. Xcaret park next door is so worth the $200 unlimited access cost. We are already planning another trip there next year. So much wildlife. Fantastic time. Food was excellent, the room had great AC and the beds were very comfortable

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Our Dream Vacation!

This resort was a dream from start to finish. If I have to put it in a few words, its eye candy, the wildlife is amazing and felt like home. The rooms were large and fresh, modern and updated, the buffet and a la carte restaurants were always busy and food was tasty. The beach is small but perfect (does need more chairs - so get up before 7am and get yours!) and the snorkelling was such a treat for our son. The salt water pools were refreshing. Barcelo Maya Colonial: Loved this amazing resort

Room was great and cleaned. Dinning room were excellent Grounds were very nice and very well kept. I thought it was a very beautiful resort. I also thought it was a huge resort. Some things were very expensive

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Amazing resort to stay

The hotel was amazing, I would recommend to anyone who likes nature and adventure. There is so much to do on the resort alone and if you get access to the park, it gives you unlimited things to do without even leaving the resort. The staff on the resort are very nice and friendly, willing to answer any question you might have. Rooms and food are good too.

The resort was absolutely gorgeous and very big. Lots of space to relax and the food was delisious. It is located with in the jungle, which is great for seeing new wild life! The staff and service were outstanding.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Great for kids

We just returned from a week stay at Occidental Xcaret. It’s a beautiful resort with many activities. Rooms: spacious and clean. We requested adjoining rooms when we booked six months ahead of time, it was completely ignored until we checked in. This is the first time we haven’t had the request filled by a resort. They said that we were close enough because we were in the same building. They ended up moving one room on day 2 and the second room on day 3. A huge headache of a but we reall [... read more]y need adjoining rooms for our family since we had young kids in different rooms. Food: okay, lots of variety, but always cold or lukewarm. Even when a fresh tray was put out from the back it was cold. We stuck to the live cooking areas to make sure we had something hot to eat. The fillet at the steak restaurant was amazing. Xcaret experience: did not receive a VIP check in. Make sure you print off the voucher that has the discounts listed. The resort didn’t know about them or the Xcaret office that applies your arm band. We ended up showing the vouchers to Xcaret Park itself to receive the proper credit. There’s a boat that is supposed to go every 10 minutes. We waited for about 40 minutes getting frustrated as we were told we must go by boat the first time. Finally a gardener felt bad for us and told us it wasn’t running because the weather was poor that day and we could walk there. It was maybe a three minute walk to the gate, no boat required. Also, you must use the main entrance your first visit not the beach entrance. Staff: very friendly, love Paula from entertainment crew. On a rainy day they set up lots of activities in the theatre so that no one got bored and always invited us to activities. Some of them get very pushy asking for reviews and want you to do it in front of them and even bribe with t shirts if you show them it. They waste about 10 min at the end of activities like aqua aerobics to keep asking for a review. Very annoying. Beach: our highlight. It is not for people that like a long walk, but perfect for young kids as it is calm and small enough to keep your eyes on them. The water was so clear that you could see every fish around you. Even if the main flags were red, the calm little cove was green and great to swim in. Wildlife: lots around. Love the flamingos and macaws. The monkeys seemed awesome the first couple of days as they visited our balcony in the third floor. By the end of the week we realized people have over fed them. One got very aggressive with my husband who was just sitting outside reading a book. Another was trying to open our patio door so we had to hold it closed. Accessibility: the golf carts are great to shuttle around, especially in the heat of the day. It was tricky going around with a stroller. There is a lot of uneven ground and bridges and stairs everywhere that would be hard for anyone with poor or limited mobility. Overall: we enjoyed our stay. Don’t miss the pool party on Saturday afternoons. It was fun!

The grounds and pools are beautiful. Resort is very large. Beach is dirty. Buffet food is meh but a la cartes are great. No free wifi except in certain areas during certain hours. Upcharges for some premium drinks (Malibu Rum, Baileys, good tequila). Rooms were decent with comfy beds. Service was poor to ok

Allegro Cozumel: Great " family " resort

Nice small resort, easy to navigate around. Great for families with small children . Beach clean with lots of chairs. Dive shop on resort nice and convenient. Professional dive shop. Great experience. I'm a picky eater food okay but I didn't starve.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: beautiful resort

The Barcelo Colonial was a beautiful resort, very clean and the service was impeccable. The beaches are beautiful, they had a sea weed issue but it was due to high winds, can't control mother nature. It is a bit of a drive from the airport but well worth the stay.

Palma Real: Reasonably Decent for Cuba Standards

The grounds/gardens were lovely and maintained]\ The grounds, gardens, public areas were good, maintained. A little bit of a walk to the beach but I was fine with that as the beach was beautiful with the unfortunate exception of tourist littering despite plenty of garbage receptacles available. Room was okay for Cuba as I had to be reminded of that, very old and would have liked maid service to be of better quality. Dining was reasonable, managed to find enough to eat despite food allergies, kind of lacked variety from day to day. I would have preferred a commercial toaster as I had brought my own bread which needs to be toasted, so I was disappointed and surprised about that as they offered a variety of fresh breads/buns. Hospitality/service staff were great, friendly, accommodating, they even replaced my room fridge with one that worked which was needed due to food allergies. Parks, restaurants, bars, entertainment, shopping, etc all within walking distance.

Occidental Punta Cana: Beautiful resort - terrible food - spotty service - very annoying vendors.

Lovely grounds, beach is great, pools were great. Service was very spotty, but the food was absolutely terrible. We had heard that the food at all-inclusives was generally poor so we were prepared with low expectations but this was unbelievable. Also the main bar is in a massive lobby and is not a friendly environment - very bright, noisy, poor service. They run out of napkins and coffee cups in the buffet every morning. They run out of beach towels everyday.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Needs updating

Food was good ,buffets where repetitive and needed more variety, internet was poor and should not be limited to one small area, beach and pool chairs few and in poor shape,i found myself taking two damaged chairs to make one good chair and dragging it from one end of resort to another,actually witnessed guests fighting over chairs. First room had no working lock on patio doors had to pay for upgrade to make my wife feel safe,not anywhere close to other 4.5 stars we have stayed at. Staff at resta [... read more]urants and on grounds were excellent but guest services was terrible ,we had one day of rain and where going on excursions to playa Carmen and they couldnt get us a second umbrella because there was only one pre assigned per room and they couldnt get us another one ???? It was a simple request and they were absolutely useless.

Occidental Papagayo: Laidback vacation

We just came back from spending a week at this very quiet and relaxing resort. With being the dry season not a lot of green foliage but still the grounds were well kept. All the staff were very friendly and would go above and beyond to make are stay perfect. We booked a deluxe bay view room and we had the perfect view. We were in block 4 it was quiet and away from things. Definitely a lot of walking up and down hills to get around the resort so anyone with issues would have a difficult time. T [... read more]here are carts that you can call for pick ups or they will pick you up on their way. Top shelf alcohol just ask. We ate at all 3 restaurants and repeated the grill. The buffet was very small not a lot of choices same things every day this was probably the only disappointing thing. We enjoy seafood and there really wasn’t any. Other then that was fun watching the monkeys and again a great place to relax with a good book. If anyone is looking for night life don’t go here. The weather did not disappoint very very hot. Thanks to all the staff that made are stay very pleasant.

Allegro Cozumel: Amazing resort

This was one of the best family vacations we have had. The recreation staff was excellent none stop fun.... all staff was very friendly the resort was always clean. Food was great! I can’t say enough about this resort it’s a must stay for anyone. Thank you allergro Cozumel we will be back for sure !

Barcelo Solymar: Average resort

Barcello Solymar resort was a descent resort with it's ups and downs. The air conditioning worked well and in fact, had to turn it of some nights due to not having a thermostat to control the temperature. The bathroom is dated however the shower had plenty of pressure and the temp range was descent. Unfortunately, 2 days in a row, the power went out in several rooms, not resort wide. I approached reception and was asked to meet the repair man who is on his way to my room. I waited by my roo [... read more]m for over 30 minutes and no one came. I went back to reception and inquired what the hold up was as I did not want to wait in a dark room for the repair man. The guy at reception was angry and said that they are working on it. I asked why I was asked to wait for the repair man and that I waited over 30 minutes. He dismissed this and appeared more concerned with him counting money and was very dismissive. Not sure of his name but he appeared to be management of some kind. The food was descent at the buffet however repetitive. The burgers/bbq by the beach were my fav. The bartender staff seemed emotionless for the most part at the lobby bar. The beach was good with plenty of lounge chairs to enjoy the sun. Internet 1 hr cards appeared to last approximately 40 minutes until needing to be repurchased for 1 Peso per "hr" Water and beer were provided in the rooms daily.
