Riu Flamingos: Great resort perfect for families

Was a great place to stay , not one issue with this resort . Would definitely recommend this place for people with kids. Staff was great friendly and service was above average. Food was fantastic choices were abundant

Riu Palace Antillas: Beautiful beach!

The hotel was alright, nothing spectacular.Food was good, whatever people didn’t eat I found the food got “recycled” into another dish the following day. Hotel staff was amazing, although the room was really outdated, it was extremely clean and the fridge was restocked 1-2 times a day. The beach was beautiful. A lot of room and staff made it easy to locate an ideal spot. No comment regarding the pool as we spent everyday on the beach. FYI - STEAK HOUSE A++++

Riu Guanacaste: Nice resort

The dining for Al a cart restaurants was poor. You had to line up for at least a half hour before hand. And no guarantee that you can get in, No opportunity to reserve ahead of time. The hotel is set back quite a bit from the ocean.. don’t waste your time and pay extra for ocean view as the garden view are actually closer to the ocean anyway. I paid for ocean view and got a room that had a solid cement wall instead of railing. Therefore no view unless you stand up near the wall. [... read more] If you sit down on the balcony chairs you only see cement and no view at all. As well no view of ocean from inside the room only could see cement.

Riu Republica: Riu Republica

Grounds We were at the Riu Republica for 7 days starting from the 2nd, Jan 2020. Our first impression of the entrance was; “wow, modern “The grounds were well kept and constantly being maintained by gardeners. The grounds were very clean. I would give the rating of the grounds a 4 + from 1-5 with 1 being the lowest.it would have gotten a 5 star if they had a tennis court and less smoking in the area. There was smoking pretty much everywhere, including the beach.The only place there wasn’t smoking were in the restaurants, the Ala cart that we visited and the buffet area. Rooms They rooms were clean, modern and well maintained. For dining I would have to rate in different categories. 1st. lets start with the Negative’s. There were over 5 Ala Cart restaurants on the grounds and we only went to two, reason being was that the 1st one we went to was a buffet style and the food wasn’t the greatest. I would not have expected that they would have buffet style setting at an Italian restaurant. 2nd. we went to another restaurant and we were disappointed because the restaurant was closed when we went. Actually the had two of the same restaurant in different locations and both were closed. We were able to get in that restaurant the day before we left and the food wasn’t great at all. The presentation was great but quality food wasn’t what we expect. Our best food experience was at the Main buffet area. Breakfast was great, we had so much options to choose from. And everyday we had something good to eat. Lunch was great as well, there is always something to choose from. Dinner was great. I forgot to mention that they had a Jerk Chicken Hut on the grounds and the chicken was very good. I would give the buffet section of this resort a 5 star based on quality of food, options of food. There was Wifi throughout the whole resort. Which was great. At times you would get signal while on the beach. There were no tennis court. This resort is smaller than it looks on the site. But in my opinion I think it’s geared for younger adults that would want to drink, party and just hang around the pool side to socialize. And that are not interested in doing anything but that. The entertainment was really good. And music was great. The beaches were crowded and the water was extremely rough. I watch a gentleman try to get on his parasailing board for over half an hour and could not get on due to the rough waves on the beach.

Riu Palace Costa Mujeres: Recommend

It was very good service, clean, staff were nice and on top of things.but one thing never agree on zero level hotel rooms cause all restaurants are on first floor, every time a chair is moved you hear it till morning. Our first night was a nightmare, but then we asked for different room , the ride from airport to hotel was 1 hour the agent told me 20 minutes only!!!. And make sure check the weather....also no privacy when taking shower.

Riu Guanacaste: Great place, worth the price

Beautiful hotel Great pool area Great service Trips offered should have more information about dangers ie: Cement Slide Restaurants: should be able to make reservations in morning instead of standing in line for an hour waiting to get in

Riu Palace Costa Rica: Great Family Memories

The Riu Palace was a a great resort to take our family on a memorable vacation. We wanted to take them to a place that would have something that we could all enjoy plus cater to a gluten free diet. The hotel itself was kept very clean. The rooms were spacious with good resort, ocean and mountain view from a balcony. The barbeque pool side every afternoon was awesome as was the buffet. We enjoyed the lobby cafe as well but the late night snack bar could of had better selection. There was enough to do to entertain us all for the week. Had a great time around the pools waterpark and ocean. The foam pool party was the best fun! The monkeys and iguanas were enjoyable to see. The monkey bar was was worth the walk, they made a great BlackBerry daiquiri! A ten minute walk from the resort in the forest. Between all of us we went horseback riding, atvs, seadoos and ziplining. The hour massage for $30. on the beach was good as well! Great family memories!

Riu Montego Bay: Awesome place to enjoy

The wife and I had an amazing stay here, very nice rooms with mini bar restocked as you like, pool is huge and greatly designed, great entertainment, awesome beach.. definitely on everyone’s bucket list... thank you

Riu Guanacaste: Amazing location - loud resort!

The grounds of this resort were stunning and the location was perfect. The food and drinks were fairly good and the hotel was very clean and the staff were always friendly and helpful. The water park and pool were perfect for the kids and the local wildlife was amazing (sea turtles, monkeys, birds, iguanas). One issue was the noise in the evening from the bar/club. It was SO loud. Riu Guanacaste: Beautiful resort

We stayed at the Riu Guanacaste in early January 2020 . The staff were all exceptionally friendly and co-operative . The food choices in the buffets were plentiful and always fresh and hot . The grounds were kept amazingly clean , with picture perfect gardens and landscaping . The nightly entertainment was pleasantly appealing to all . We missed both Friday night special theme nights but based on all the staging I'm sure they would have been a blast . A few cons we discovered were having to p [... read more]ay for drinks in the disco and not being able to book a la carte restaurants ( they are on a first come first serve basis and always had long wait times) . The all night sports bar definitely needs updating and food service added to its services ( all that is available is a cooler with cold hamburgers and hot dogs and sandwiches ) There is nothing else open after 11PM (other than the disco). Overall a great vacation and a beautiful country . Would return for sure .

Riu Playa Blanca: Good resort for the price we paid!

This resort, although definitely not a five star, met most of our needs. Rooms were fine. Food and drinks were okay.The beach was nice, but could be a little cleaner as we found several peices of thick wire in the sand. Boat taxi to Santa Clara Beach was fun and we enjoyed a couple of great beach front restaurants...great lobster and passion fruit margaritas. Good value for 1680 pp during high season.

Riu Republica: Great Resort, Fun Times

The Riu Republica was an excellent resort. The rooms, service, grounds and ambiance was all top notch. The beach area and the pools were very good. They had a different theme each night for entertainment which was a nice change.

Riu Palace Costa Rica: Excellent Location

My family returned to this lovely resort over New Years and it was as good as I remembered it to be two years earlier. Would highly recommend. It was excellent for multi-generational group, lovely walking beach and spacious pool side area. The staff are friendly and very good.

Riu Playa Blanca: Rid Playa Blanca...... amazing resort and facilities

The hotel and grounds were amazing. 4 restaurants, various cuisines. Always somewhere to eat or get snacks. Only downside we found was after the rooms had been cleaned we didn’t always get face cloths and hand towels replaced, when you called the reception desk about this issue it was not rectified until the next day ( it’s like these 2 items were in short supply)

Riu Flamingos: Great Beach!

We went there as a family of 5 the first week of January. It was a busy time at the resort but everything run smoothly and was perfect. A bit noisy at time where our suite was located but our suite itself for family was just what we were looking for so we do not complaint. The beach was perfect and the sea was warmer than the pool. Buffet was good but speciality restaurant were not worth it though. I would still recommend the Riu Jalisco, for the quality-price, it is certainly the best.

Riu Playa Blanca: Great vacation!!

Hotel was great! 10 min from airport. People were nice, beach was awesome, lots of good food and choices, hotel super clean. I focused too much on the bad reviews and glad I got to see it for myself. Would definately go back!

Riu Palace Costa Rica: Fantastic Family Vacation

I would highly recommend this resort - we were a three generation group of nine and had a great time. Check in and checkout were both quickly and efficiently done with helpful and polite staff. Service overall very good as was the wide variety of food, I would have preferred a different system for booking at the specialty restaurants but our group went twice - the Italian and the Japanese (grandkids preferred the Italian). The grounds were well kept, steps from the ocean where they br [... read more]ought loungers and drinks, numerous pools to choose from (some did have missing tiles but were very clean) and a lot of loungers available for all. The rooms were a bit tired and a few items missing from housekeeping one day but quickly remedied with a call to reception and followed up twice later to ensure we had everything. A "shout out" must go to their photography staff who took some family pictures for us and also some candid ones of the kids at the pool - both pictures and prices were exceptional. I would rate the resort as a nine out of ten overall. We did a few excursions and the highlight was the day trip to Borinquen with ziplines, horseback riding, waterfalls and even a mud bath; we hired a private guide and Ira was very knowledgeable and personable. It was truly a memorable holiday in a beautiful Country.

Riu Emerald Bay: Great resort

Food was good only wished they had more variety of stuff to eat after 10:30 (when the buffet closes)only choice is the food at the sports sports bar which was hot dogs hamburgers burritos & nachos (microwaved).. also keep in mind that this resort takes Canadian money so no need to get usd currency.

Riu Republica: Truly An Amazing Resort!

This resort is unlike anything I have ever seen! The rooms were spacious, very clean and also had liquor dispensers with vodka, rum, gin and whiskey which made this hotel standout from the others! Their breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet food were delicious. As well as their a la carte restaurants, although a bit of a wait some days it was well worth it. The waiters and waitresses were extremely friendly and had a great sense of humor, as well as the chefs who made it a priority to interact with [... read more] the guests on a daily bases, which was lovely. There were many pools and pool bars located directly inside of the pool which I found unique! The beach was amazing with a view to die for and the customer service provided at the beach bars were very memorable. There were daily activities on and off of the resort, performances at their theaters, as well as a very entertaining night life, from the night club to the beach parties. It was truly an amazing experience and I cannot wait to go back!
