Melia Buenavista: Amazing Resort

The hotel is small and quiet, beautiful grounds, excellent butler service, friendly staff,limited food choices for dinner, premium drinks, very long bus ride from the airport, no butler service on the beach

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Disappointed

Everything was good, just three main minuses: 1 A lots of mosquito, no one spay can help, was eaten alive 2 No buffet, only one restaurant with only two chooses of meal (the menu is really bad, plus one evening we get juice completely fermented). 3 Big cockroaches in the room, which is very disgusting (they live besides the wood bad frame)

Sol Cayo Santa Maria: Sol Cayo Santa Maria

Amazing place. You got three pools to jump into plus the beach not too far. Diversity of foods is awesome. There's markets around for you to go browse some souvernirs. The staff is really nice and helpful.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: First Family trip in Cuba

Hotel: Good as described for lodging; much less mosquitoes than other resorts. Playas: nice beaches, very calm seas, good for kids. Food: below average in the first few days (before the WE); good after, since there were travel groups from Canada. Ambiance: average to good; lots of latinos from Argentina, Chili ...; rude and noisy, not orderly (cigarettes butts on the floor, near the pools, on the beaches, garbage and empty cups in trees, bushes ...). Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Great staff at Grand Memories Buffet

The vacation was a very difficult one at the end of it all. I am disabled with a walking aid and we were put on the second floor to include 2 flights of stairs. I had asked on our arrival and I was told no and 2 days later as they saw I was struggling with the stairs , they offered to move us to first floor which was still one flight of stairs. I declined as we had already unpacked and it would be too difficult for me to manage packing all over again. Other than that, the staff were very frie [... read more]ndly. We put in 3 wake up calls and the only one we recieved was the morning we left, as I told them if we did not make the plane, it would be at their expense, as there was no alarm clocks in the room. Also sometimes it took 3 times to have a pick up by their shuttle service. The sliding door in our room was very difficult to open (seemed like the wheels on the door were worn out) and I reported it with no one coming to repair. The cable to the TV was broken and our tv was very limited due to the with not being connected properly. The maid service was excellent and they were extremely grateful for the gifts we had brought for the staff daily with their tip. The only dining room that I could manage the food was the Grand Memories Buffet and the service was excellent! I kept to a very simple diet and my husband who sampled all of the food, became very ill on the 5th day. Once home he was diagnosed with ECOLI (very serious). Our waiter, Rubin was the best! He would go the extra mile to help us and made sure his service was the best! Entertainment was very good when they had it. Some nights were just cancelled, as well as some of the excursions. One excursion we were able to do was the Catermeran and it was excellent! The crew were the best and we had a wonderful time. I would highly recommend that excursion! The entertainment staff were second to none! They were the best! We found Cuban people very friendly and appreciative. We did make some friends from Cuba and other countries. Our trip home was not pleasant with my husband sick and then the took my walker away when we went through clearance. (any other trip to include our trip to Cuba I had my walker until I loaded the plane. ) This added to our struggles. Then lastly, we had paid for VIP on our return, but with everything going wrong during this vacation, I could not find my receipt. Instead of contacting Sunwing to verify our payment, we were kicked out of the VIP Lounge. We could not find a seat close by and had to walk to the very back of the waiting area to sit. (with my husband having to run to the washroom and my self with our my walking aid.) We can not say this was the best holiday with so many issues. We have place a large complaint with Sunwing. Valentin Perla Blanca: Disappointed

The Resort Valentin Perla Blanca is quietly amazing when you see at first time but the disappointment started at day 2 until the ongoing days staying in the resort. At the snack bar, the staff is not welcoming. No smile and no greetings, the service is very slow considering is not that busy. The food is not great at all they serve food as same always for those days we stayed. No good towels and bed sheet, even it's brand new towels it has bad smells. The worst is so much mosquitos. You c [... read more]an't stay long outside and worried that you will collect mosquito bites. And lastly the night staying someone stole a pair of my swim wear and some clothes that I hang out at the balcony. I just felt that you can't trust the surroundings in the resort.

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Incredible resort

Our stay was amazing can't say enough good things. Food was much better then my past Cuba trips, service was great always fast and very friendly. Are room was a welcome place to come back to after our day cozy and relaxing. Great sleeps every night we had one minor electrical issue and it was fixed in minutes. Happened to be fixed by one of our Cuban friends we met earlier in the week and he was just as happy to see us as we were him. Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: I will never return to this hotel again !

-Staff is rude not helpful at all . -Rooms are dirty our maid never changed our towels , our mini bar was never stocked it was a hassle just to get bottled water in the room also had the same situation with the toilet paper . We had to move rooms bc we had a cockroach in our room the first night . The pool area was dirty plastic cups everywhere even in the pool no staff was ever bothered to pick anything up . The supposed snack bar they call it only served ham cheese sandwich and they would always run out of the fries . The only good thing about this trip was the beach. Do yourself a favour save your money and go some where else. I will never return to this hotel that’s how bad this experience was.

Melia Buenavista: Another wonderful stay

My partner and I traveled to the Melia the week of June 9 and were rewarded once again with beautiful weather and an awesome experience with the staff at this hotel. We would like to thank our butlers Edel and Lili for perfect service and making each day comfortable and pleasant. Our dinner reservations were made for us, a lovely snack plate delivered to our room everyday and of course wonderful conversations were had with both of them. The restaurants were well equipped and the food was wond [... read more]erfully prepared each day from breakfast at the Beach Grill to lunch poolside where they make the best pizza and hamburgers to dinners at one of the two off menu restaurants. The wine, mostly from Spain, was good, the "house" was fine but we received coupons for bottles of wine that were better quality. The serving staff were great, Lauren, Yanislei and Eliney were such friendly and thoughtful ladies, who made going to dinner that much more enjoyable. Lianny took care of our room and it was spotless and towels etc were replaced at least twice a day if needed. The bar staff at all the bars were top notch, Lester, Lauren at the pool bar were great fun. Notes about the resort: - small intimate and very quiet - evening entertainment was usually local music performed in the 24 hour bar by the main pool - exercise was done once a day in the pool and the volleyball net was set up if guests requested. - we stayed here during the off season, so the hotel was only at maybe 50% capacity so very low key - snorkeling is available off both beaches - the water is clear and the beaches are beautiful and clean, no rocks going into the water - the rooms are spacious (all suites) and each building only has 4 suites - the resort has only a total of 104 rooms, all have outdoor showers and Jacuzzi tubs - drinks are well made with good quality alcohol - water is provided in the rooms, do not drink the water from the tap, it is safe for teeth brushing etc but drink the bottled water provided. - mini fridge in the room is stocked daily with pop and beer and water. - the sunset beach has music and wine each day at sundown (nice touch and very beautiful photo opportunity) - all rooms have balconies, some are ocean view - wifi is available in almost all areas of the resort, including the beaches and rooms. You will be provided a login and password unique to each guest. - the hotel is located about 1 1/2 hours from the airport but the ride is lovely through the towns and across the causeway. Once again thank you all at the Melia Buenavista for another (our 4th) wonderful stay at your resort.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: average resort

We enjoyed our stay in this resort but this is not a 5 start resort more like 3/2 star the service was not the greatest we always had to get the waiters attention to be served. We liked the room we stayed in I have to say very clean, the food was very bad in the buffet I have to say we only liked the food that you had to reserve a night before for the restaurants. that had menu. Would I be back? maybe not even though I like Cuba very much maybe in a couple of years but I'll try a different resort. My next trip is Panama or Costa Rica I can't wait!

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Nice Accommodations & Beach BUT....

My husband, children and I have been going to Cuba for past 20 years love the people, beaches and never had any issues with our stays throughout the country. Dhawa is a modern, well kept hotel with beautiful grounds and one of the best beaches I have been to in Cuba. The week of June 8-15 not sure what happened with the food as there was none. The problem at this hotel was the lack of food. No meat grill station all week, only fish. Half the hot plates of buffet was filled and the only food they had for lunch and dinner every night was rice, green beans, pork, stew with sausage, potatoes, squash, maybe a chicken stew and pre-made pasta. Some salad, cheese and ham in cut in 10 different ways. I never eat pasta in Cuba as there is always a variety food to choose from, last week that is the only thing I ate from the made to order pasta bar. No Grill and carving station causes a problem for my husband's diet he ate a plate of pork for entire week at each meal that is it. There was no Cristal beer and they ran out of dark rum several times - for a higher class hotel the food and drinks was very disappointing. We had a beautiful Ocean View room, beds comfortable, loved the water fall shower and most employees were helpful and pleasant. Beach is to die for, pool area was nice but we lived at the beach. Over the weekend there were a lot of Cuban people vacationing which i am very happy they can now come and have a holiday as well. Problem is even though not a lot of people in resort you lined up for a long time for anything because the Cuban vacationers took half of what little food there was and filled multiple grocery bags full of food. We explored and went to see several other hotels in area and in Santa Maria. Those hotels seemed to have all the regular food items and some even had the Cristal beer. I know this is low season but what was served was below even the standards of a lower season as far as quantity of food that was available. This disappointed me very much and honestly if this had been my first time to Cuba I probably would of had a bad impression believed the stereo type of their food and not gone back to the country. Luckily I know better and will be going back again later this year but not to this hotel. I am glad I experienced it as place itself was nice but felt this week the management may have cut a few too many corners on being the lower season. Many other tourists from Canada vocally voiced their opinion on site to Management and was not happy at all. We focused on the positives and just enjoyed what we had. I would also suggest to change up the pre-show entertainment in the lobby the same 2 singers singing the same songs night after night gets a little boring. Cuba is my family's second home but this trip was a little disappointing. Even though it is low season, prices are cheaper we should still get most of what is advertised and what we pay for. Hubby and I had a great much needed relaxing week - but needed to voice my thoughts in hopes that Management can understand why people were disappointed and frustrated this past week. Beautiful place do not let its reputation go down into the dumps that would be a real shame and I really hope last week was an exception and this is not how it is all the time. Sandra & Alan

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Overall great family vacation

We stayed at the Iberostar Ensenachos for a week second week of June. We travelled with the family, husband, wife and two kids aged 2 and 7. This was our second stay at this resort. We were here last year in June as well. This year we really enjoyed our stay. We had a nice spacious room (4023). The food was good with enough variety for the kids. Fresh fruit was delicious. These things are only important when you travel with kids. Otherwise, it’s a beautiful resort and an unforgettable beach. Kids loved it! Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Never again!

The pool area was not cleaned it was always littered with other plastic cups. We had a visitor one night.. a cockroach, issues with toilets in multiple rooms, our maid never changed our towels instead they were folded and put away. Sometimes placed on balcony to dry rather than replaced with new towels. The service was not great by no means was this a 5 star resort. The food was always the same thing. The disco was closed the mosquitoes were terrible some of the fans were not working ... etc etc

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Amazing staff, amazing resort!

Our stay was fantastic. The resort was very clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Only advice to future go hours, is to bring bug spray as the mosquitoes can get pretty bad at night but that was our only complaint

The staff are so friendly make you feel welcomed .when we went it was low season one of the lowest they told us..we had no night shows lobby was dead after 8 pm was around 125 people at the resort .no food variety, food was not very good and always repeated food ..very little choices..buffet breakfast and lunch ...had to go to a la cart for supper each night same place 3 choices that was kinda repeated each night .not very good the food there either..I wont let this judge weather I'll go back o [... read more]r not since it was so quiet this could be a very nice resort and we hit a bad weak ? Valentin Perla Blanca: Exceeded expectations

Clean, nice beach, good food, friendly staff, had a fun week with my girlfriend, and friends. Would recommend to families,and groups of friends looking for a good time. Bartenders make their drinks very well and the customer service is on point . Thanks for a great time.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Loved everything !!

I stayed at the Valentin Perla Blanca and it was honestly such a beautiful Resort. Half the resort was under renovation but you cannot even tell. The workers there were amazing and so kind, I thought the food was really good, something new everyday to eat. The beach was the most beautiful beach that I have been to for a long time. Everything about this resort was amazing and I would totally go back in a heartbeat!!

Playa Luxury Cayo Las Brujas: Love the service

We had a lot of difficulties with the Hotel. We changed room 5 times because the AC was not working, the food was basic, but the service, the people and the hotel itself was amazing!!! we are DEFINITELY coming back

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Amazing

This resort was very good, the bed was comfortable comparing to other resorts. The room had a whirlpool instead of just a plain bathtub which was good and it worked perfectly but we wished we would have had an actual shower head that is on the wall instead of a handheld. The room was very spacious and kept very clean by the maids, we really appreciated that, plus Yaritza (the maid) did an excellent job cleaning, she was very courteous and very friendly. The waiters/ waitresses went beyond to make us feel comfortable and relaxed. The a la carte were excellent which we had one every night. We had an excellent time!

Melia Las Dunas: Amazing as usual!

This was my 4th time coming back to this resort. I must say, this is my first time coming in june though. This time of year is very hot there and at times is muggy. Other than that, the resort as always is kept very clean at all times and everyone is very polite and welcoming. There is a variety of good food available at all times either at the buffet or other bars on the resort. The bartenders are very good at their jobs, so the drinks dont stop flowing!
