Costa Club Punta Arena: Don't go there!

We have just recently checked into this hotel. Overall not a bad place if you're not a luxury traveller, however, what nobody tells you is that there are 2 construction zones going on right now to the same time; one from the hotel itselfs renovating three guest floors and another one between the hotel and the beach, where they are piece by piece tearing down a ruine of a hotel. This means two sources of noise from Monday til Friday morning to evening. It was so bad that we had to transfer to a  [... read more]different hotel. And as this wasnt enough AC had lost our luggage plus we were charged to stay at a different hotel and were charged for a hotel we never stayed at! Last time that we booked with TripCentral or AirCanadaVacations.

Friendly Fun Vallarta: Friendly staff

Reasonable and satisfactory. Rate it fair. Food is ok. Enjoyed evening entertainment. Location is great. Rooms are clean. Bathrooms seem old and in need of updating. Furniture in rooms are dirty.

Villa Del Mar: Awesome Resort!

They hotel was a very nice place, lots of time share residents and a quiet resort which was good for us. ( Not a party atmosphere) Clean, well maintained, service and food was absolutely amazing!!!!!!

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Always Terrific

The RDC is consistently terrific and an all round solid resort experience. From the rooms, food, drinks, entertainment, staff, pools, beach and village of Bucerias, there are few resorts in Mexico that do all of these things as well as the RDC.

Riu Palace Pacifico: Great resort and staff, very clean

The resort ,food and staff are great from the breakfast guy Antonio and Thomas to all the people from lunch to dinner... try the special coffee after dinner you will love it❤. Very clean resort. Wish I would have up graded room though. Do not get 3031 as it is right next to service area. Seems they like to fix things in the middle of the night. All good. 1 bad thing is the beds, never had a good sleep in 14 days. Pillows and beds no good. In saying that.... didn't come to Mexico to sleep. Iberostar Selection Playa Mita: The best resort we stayed at

Very well maintained and clean resort. Staff is very friendly and service oriented. Food had great selection and was excellent. Many fun activities to choose from on the grounds - surrounded by a really good golf course where we could go for a walk/run every day. We brought 2 couples with us and they loved it too - we will return for sure.

Grand Palladium Vallarta: GP Vallarta

We recently stayed at the Grand Palladium Vallarta. The facilities are lovely. It is a bit removed from PV, maybe 3/4 hour drive from the airport. If you want to do anything or go anywhere, it's a taxi or bus ride. We especially enjoyed the adult pool, and the Beach. We also liked the quietness of the salt water pool. The lunches, that we participated in, put on at the beach daily, were wonderful. not the same old cold burger and fries. The Zentropia spa is very lovely. truly enjoyed my [... read more] massage from Alma. The one thing I didn't understand, was why people were made to line up at the buffet doors, had to give room numbers. then when we got to the buffet, it's not like they were full. The Buffet food was good. Not really crazy about booking through an app for a la carts. when were first told this, I thought it was a great idea, no standing in line everyday at a concierge to book your restaurants! But in fact it was a bit more cumbersome. You don't book for THIS evening, you are actually booking 24hrs ahead. so we missed out on a few a la carts because of this misunderstanding. With this said, there is wifi everywhere, which is nice. I was also slightly disappointed with the balconies. very very small. we had an ocean view room, but 2 people on the balcony was very tight. The staff were all very friendly and very accommodating, really a pleasure. one more thing, the check in process seemed so long, and they had plenty of staff on to accommodate the bus load of people, but it seemed to take longer than it needed to. A turn off was the sales push to buy into their travel club. All in all though, a nice resort.

Grand Sirenis Matlali Hills: In the jungle, The mighty jungle!

The good..... The employees were absolutely great. The setting was awesome(in the jungle). The facilities are rustic but cool. Lots of walking around the resort with steep grades or you can choose to ride the carts. Shuttle to the beach every half hour. Beach has nice sand with good swimming in the ocean. Nice resort if you want quiet and be laid back. I did not feel old and I am 56. 98% Canadians.There is only a couple hundred people at the resort. The not so good...... The beach faciliti [... read more]es are a 1 out of 5 at best. The concierges did nothing but hassle us when we were trying to book el la cartes about becoming a member(but they didn't hassle everyone). They would tell us the el le cartes were not available when others we knew went in right after us and were able to book meals. Entertainment was subpar. In the room we had zero soap, conditioner, shampoo, but eleven bottles of body lotion. We had towels and at the end we started getting hand towels and even got a facecloth. Some people couldn't get towels at all. We had to ask for drinking water a few times and only had to wait an hour or so. The fridge was always stocked but with the wrong things, for example if you drank the coke or beer in the fridge they would restock it with Sprite or Fanta. The rooms have no sound barriers so you could hold a conversation with your neighbors through the wall. Something I ate at the resort did not agree with me(Montezuma's revenge) and I was down and out for a day and felt rough for another two days. Also a guy was saying he had a couple hundred US dollars stolen from his room but they left his passport, which he should have had in his safe. The resort has a lot of potential and is unique and the employees are the best you will find, but the little things seemed to take their toll after awhile. Management is either being misdirected by the ownership on their vision or management should be fired for not doing their jobs very well. I would still recommend this resort solely on the fact that it is in the jungle and it is very quiet, but it struggles to be a four star resort.

Vamar Vallarta: Location location

Beautiful grounds, excellent service. Centrally located near the marina but a short stroll to the malacon, shopping and great restaurants. We did not eat much at the hotel but explored the nearby areas.

Hilton Vallarta Riviera Resort: not the best

We were looking forward to this vacation but were very disappointed in the food. Spoke to the manager and was told to go to the steak house but we had to pay? We enjoy the ocean but unfortunately it was too rough to go in but the beach was too rocky for us to enjoy our walks. Would not recommend this hotel

Sunset Plaza Beach Resort & Spa: Sunset Plaza is Very Great

Service was Excellent. Food was outstanding. Love the idea that it's a smaller resort and that we were not bothered by people "partying" it up etc. Very clean resort. the staff are so very professional and friendly. I can't think of one thing that we did not like.

Friendly Fun Vallarta: Awesome Friendly Resort

The employees were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean. The grounds and the pools were kept in very good shape. The dining and meals were very good. The shows and activities were very entertaining. We had a wonderful experience.

Costa Club Punta Arena: Satisfactory

we have been to PV around 30 times . At this resort app. 5 times . We book at this resort if price is attractive compared to our favourite resorts that are 1-2 stars higher ,and their price is much higher when booking. Rooms are clean,staff friendly and accomidating.Food is not as good as other places we stay,but we pay a lot less. Jan/2018..old resort in front of Costa being demolished with very noisy jackhammers going all day .Excellent location to walk downtown.

Costa Club Punta Arena: Great stay

We had the great opportunity to be staying at Costa Club Punta arena for 1 week. It is a clean comfortable small hotel with very caring staff, making it feel very safe and a home like atmosphere. The location in regards to getting down town to the malecon is great and very close to the marina as well. Catching taxis and local buses is very easy. Rooms were very large and clean, we were in the older section and they were just fine. This is not a luxury hotel , but a comfortable clean small hotel. The food at the buffet is catered to Mexican tastes, but then again ....I guess you are in Mexico. You should never go hungry and you can always go out for dinner. Currently there is a lot of noise from the tearing down of an old building in front of the hotel, this is not the hotels fault.

Grand Sirenis Matlali Hills: Best of both worlds

Beautiful resort in the mountain/jungle with a shuttle to a nice beach area. Great place if you enjoy nature, lots of walking, beautiful water features and areas and a wonderful selection of food considering the size of the resort. Would go back again

Iberostar Selection Playa Mita: Amazing resort!

This resort was so wonderful and so well kept. Everyone was so happy and pleasant. Food was incredible for an all inclusive and never a shortage of anything. Our room was really great, nice sized and beds are sooo comfy which is not the norm in Mexico.

Grand Sirenis Matlali Hills: Beautiful, quiet, secluded resort

Such a pretty setting for this resort, nestled in a valley on the slope of a mountain above La Cruz de Huanacaxtle. The beach club has a restaurant for anyone doing the all-inclusive. There are plenty of chairs and umbrellas. The view from your chair is awesome. The swimming was chilly in January but there were no jellyfish and the wave action wasn't too scary. We went in everyday. Forget about snorkelling at this location...the water isn't clear enough and there isn't an abundance of fish  [... read more]to view. The free shuttle runs from the resort to the beach numerous times throughout the day, beginning at 10:00am. We didn't mind the 10 min. ride back and forth...we never tried to walk it. The food was excellent in the specialty restaurants and only so-so at the buffets at dinner. We ate at the beach club everyday so we don't know what lunch was like at the resort. Breakfasts were very good. Housekeeping was a bit of an issue for our room and our friend's room. They didn't come until 5:00pm (ish), so that was so inconvenient for getting ready for dinner or just for relaxing after a day at the beach. Also, they have this funny habit of snatching every towel, hand towel, bath mat they can find in your room and not having enough to replace them, so on 2 days we were left with 1 towel for the two of us!! And they didn't bother to come later to replace them. And we had hung up our towers for re-using and they still didn't get the message. I tried hiding them, but they found them and took those too! We heard this same story from other guests as well. Just a glitch that needs attention. All in all, very nice resort...mostly Canadian and British guests. Hardly an American to be found. Very few kids. Hiking around the resort, because it is on a hillside, was not problematic. We needed the exercise after all that eating and lounging around. But there was almost always a shuttle available if we wanted. Puerto Vallarta is about a 40 minute bus ride down the highway, for 10 pesos. Lots of people took this as a day trip.

Las Palmas by the Sea: Wonderful experience

This hotel was excellent. It was clean, lively and beautiful. The food was good and choices were amazing. The pools and grounds were clean, well kept and neat. Our room and bed was very comfortable. The maids, bartenders, porters and other hotel staff were friendly and very helpful. I found the adult pool relaxing and very warm. My husband preferred the kids pool and we spend our time between the two. There was always a place to sit in the shade. I found the kids pool music and constant [... read more] screaming by the game coordinator too loud and the music not to many peoples taste. Indeed the only time people seemed to come alive was the one hour of old rock and roll. Why do young people in their 20's assume that all people want to hear their music? The prizes at Bingo were lame and we stopped playing after the first day. This is a very small criticism because overall we had an excellent time. We did not indulge in much of your entertainment as we preferred to go into town, to eat out and listen to Mariachi music. When we returned, there were many drunk people who were still being given drinks and were rather obnoxious. Perhaps the bartender could have refused to serve the drunks. (That's what they do in Canada). We appreciated the attention and help from Alehandro and Martin and the maids. Martin directed us to see a Mariachi band that was outstanding and comprised of his family members. It is worthwhile for Las Palmas to look into hiring them on a full-time basis. We will be returning again next year, though we would like a room with a window that opens, perhaps a balcony. Thanks.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Consistently great!

I have several reviews on this resort. This is our 4th time back and will not be the last. In fact most of the folks there have been there far more than we have. Which really speaks to this location and hotel. We booked with Air Transat. We were happy with the size of plane and their customer service. As far as our expectation on a trip, we look for a nice beach, quiet area for mature adults, variety of food, and a clean hotel. We are seniors so our needs are not grand. This trip seem [... read more]ed to have more of the senior crowd. Not many younger adults, might not be the party place for them. This trip we returned for two weeks and were not disappointed. The hotel continues to be consistent. Very clean, same staff as the last few years which are truly courteous and work hard to please. The location is ideal for the adventurous folk as it is a short bus ride to several smaller towns and an interesting bus ride into the PV. They just upgraded the A/C in the rooms as well. The grounds are well cared for, everyday you can see the garden people trimming and caring for the property. When walking around the pools watch for the hummingbirds they are usually feeding on the flowers on the hedges. Iguana’s are all around the grounds, some very large ones and if you look up you can see them in the trees. This year they were a bit more active, and several were spoted fighting and some even fell into the pool. Staff were quick to respond and lift them out. The hotel is on a beautiful beach where you can walk for miles. They have lots of pools to choose from. There is a party area with games and such. We did not check that out this trip. It is never necessary to get up early to save a spot on the beach or at the pool. They discourage it but don’t seem to enforce it. We never had an issue finding a place to hang out. You do get a beach towel on check in; if you lose it you will be charged a fee. We heard a few folks complain that someone stole their towel and they were stuck with having to pay for one. Bring your own drinking cup, insulated works well for morning coffee and through the day drinks. Coffee is not available in the rooms but easy to get some fresh coffee at the bars. If you want Baileys bring your own they don’t really have that flavour in Mexico. The Buffets have theme nights so best to check them all out, BBQ night was really good and 70’s night was cool too with wings, burgers and such. Two buffets to choose from with different themes at each of them. Best to pay everything in peso even the tips. It is good to tip to show your appreciation; it does go into the general pot and shared with all the staff. Even when your trip does say gratuities are included we still tipped from time to time. You can get money at a better rate than the hotel up the hill with your bank card. Any purchases you make you get a better deal if you pay in peso’s. Get outside the resort it is safe and interesting to experience the Mexican culture. Try some of the local food carts in town and some of restaurants. Popular places are Fat Boys, Drunken Duck, Karen’s which is really short walk on the beach from the resort. They offer happy hour on the beach and a lot of folks go there in the afternoon. Sit up high so you are not bothered by the vendors. Lots of other fun places to explore. Wednesday afternoon they have a market in Bucerias with higher end items. Or you can go to La Cruz on Sunday for the big market. Lots of samples of local fare. fun market. At the end of the main road is the tourist market. Those with mobility might find it challenging to walk on the cobblestone road. Take your time and enjoy or walk on the beach to the market. Just about anything you want will be offered. Beware you need to barter your best price, except at the local market on Sunday those are set prices and really only set up for the locals. Massages are offered everywhere and also the fish pedicure. We have has massages in town in town and on beach, we think that the beach ones are a bit better. Average price is about $20 cdn. or about 250 to 300 peso. The hotel does offer massages but not sure about what the cost is with them. Activities – they offer bikes to ride around town, which we did every day. They have tennis court, soccer field, and basketball. For water, they have kayaks and take the sailboat out from time to time depending on the weather. They do offer boggie boards for some surf time. This trip the water was ok to play in and did not toss you around as much as it had in past trips. You should bring water shoes as there lot of stingrays in the bay and a few folks were stung. On this trip we did not really deal with too many bugs, the hotel does spray each month which make the grounds and your room comfortable and you can sit outside in the evening comfortably. Things they can improve on: The beds are firm and could be better. The pillows are really hard and I will be bringing my own for my next trip. They could offer a few more options on water activities, such as stand up paddleboards. And would be nice if they added a mini golf. Easy activity in the hot sun. Wifi is only available in the common areas. For us once a day is fine with us as we are on vacation, we feel we should be disconnected. We heard that they are slowing adding to each building wifi access. Now for our big issue: The hotel safe is not included and you have to pay 50P a day. Expensive for two weeks, if we did not have peso they asked us for $65 cdn. Luckily we had peso so worked out less. In our opinion it is not worth the risk to leave your passport and money out, even with the good security in the resort. So you have to pay. The lounge chairs are uncomfortable if you plan to read or lounge around for a longer time period. Bring a floater from the dollar store or you can usually get one from someone that is leaving, or you can purchase up the road for a few dollars. Highly recommend to get one. It would be nice if they added some chips and salsa or some type of snack in the bars. We were not keen to attend the evening show as it is late and we have already seen them. We much prefer to hang at the beach bar. Having a few chips or nuts would much improve the bar experience. We really like the location of this hotel and we will be back next year.

Riu Vallarta: Our Favourite

We have stayed at many resorts in Mexico ----over 20---- We like the Riu Vallarta a lot because of many things---probably the number one event that separates it from the other resorts is the Central Village concept that develops in the evening. The area consists of a large fountain---a fabulous square raised outdoor bar--the open air Entertainment area---access to a la carte restaurants and Huge Buffet all viewable from the 300 seat lobby bar.
