Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Lovely well kept small resort

Blue Bay Doradas in Puerto Plata D.R. is a lovely, small resort that still has 3 pools, entertainment every night and a beautiful large well kept beach. It is an older resort but very well maintained. The grounds are groomed and are very attractive. Our room was kept very clean and when they changed the sheets they changed the mattress cover too! No problem getting towels, face cloths etc and plumbing worked fine. Lots of hot water and good water pressure. The food was over cooked most times a [... read more]nd after a few days it all tasted the same. They did get 2 new chefs in there for 2 days near the end of our vacation and boy what an improvement! So the only thing not up to par was the food. Specialty restaurants were better. But only 3 of them. We were there for 14 days and I was bored. Ten days and I was ready for home. The Playa Dorada mall is only a five minute, safe walk but very lacking and run down after covid. If you are looking for a quiet vacation this is the place. People were all very friendly and mostly Canadians. You can book excursions right at the resort. Our flight was with Air Transat and very good other than my video player didn't work so they gave me extra snacks etc on the trip down. Bus rides were good to and from the resort. Good vacation and glad to be home again.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Disappointed Returning Guest Room 3254

After having a good trip here in Feb2024 this time we started our stay in a room without a functioning toilet and a shower that leaked because the tub was cracked. This led to the entire floor being wet most of the day creating a slippery and dangerous situation. This room should never have been sold. Management are aware of it and I am certain they continued to put people in this room after they moved 3 days into our stay. Each day I pleaded to get toilet repaired and each day was disappointed [... read more]. We also heard other people with similar issues. A functioning toilet is a necessity and an expectation when you spend so much money. Stay improved after that but damage was done by that point and we will not be back.

Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: Great resort

We went a family of 4 with two teenagers. We had a great time at this resort. The lazy river was fun, bring your own floaties though. Food was pretty good, but we aren’t picky. The beach was beautiful and the drinks were delicious. They workers are the resort were fantastic and cheerful. I would definitely recommend.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Great Family Vacation!

We had a great time at the Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana! Our room was awesome for the 5 of us! A family with three daughters needs two bathrooms! The resort was clean and well kept. The food was pretty good. The Indian A la carte restaurant (Thali) was our favourite!!! The entire staff was friendly and the entertainment was excellent! A great time enjoyed by all!

Ocean Blue and Sand: great resort

hotel was great easy to navigate. rooms were very good . ala carteecomfortable beds bathroom was a great size walk in shower was huge with all the goods you would need and more. buffet restaurants were very good with lots to choose from.a la carte restaurants were good all very close to everything.

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Nice fun resort

Enjoyed our stay at this resort. Buffet was outstanding. Ala carte restaurants were very difficult to book due to the fact there were only 14 restaurants to accommodate this massive chain of resorts. Other than that, rooms were very nice. Next visit will be the Ambar at Bahia principe. Right on the beach and best for activities and entertainment.

Occidental Punta Cana: Fantastic time

We had an absolute fantastic time at the Occidental punta cana. Rooms were huge and updated, pools were beautiful, beach and ocean spectacular, food amazing. If you don't want to be bombarded by usa university students ide suggest you don't go in March though. Lolol.

Royalton Splash Punta Cana: Amazing Resort, Beach, Staff, and Food - Highly Recommend

We loved our vacation! I took my 9yo son who immediately made loads of vacation friends and was living his best life between the waterpark and the beach. You get to use the Splash and the Royalton Punta Cana Resort. Its a BIG place, but the little trolley runs all the time and you never wait longer than 5min for a trolley. Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Catalonia bavaro

Needs a refresh. Most bathrooms are rough. Buffet mediocre. Main buffet is terrible. Service is non existent. Staff pretty good at beach buffet and specialty restaurants. Our service got better when they realized we were tipping well for every meal. Beautiful beach. Most privilege advantages not available. 9 hole Golf finally worked after negotiating fora better price. 200$ for 9 rounds instead of 60$ per round.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Not what we expected for a resort with a 4.5 star rating

Our expectations for this resort was much higher. The food was average at best and was never hot. The beach bar was always staffed with one person which made for very long lines waiting to get a drink. Not sure how this resort holds a 4.5 star rating. Would not go back.

Catalonia Royal Bavaro: Relaxing Resort

Stayed at Catalonia Royal Bavaro. All the staff were great, especially the front desk and the pool servers! Resort is on the more quiet side, but if you wanted more activity you could just walk next door to the family resort. The pool was great and warm! Restaurants were wonderful. Royalton Splash Punta Cana: An Honest Review

We recently embarked on a week-long journey to Royalton Splash Punta Cana. The staff exhibited a commendable level of friendliness, and the resort maintained a satisfactory level of cleanliness. Furthermore, we encountered challenges in securing reservations for à la carte dining, as availability was consistently limited. Despite our efforts to set alarms to access the booking app promptly, we often found ourselves unsuccessful and had to seek assistance from guest services. They were able to help us secure a reservation at the Japanese restaurant, which proved to be quite delightful. Aside from these two issues, we genuinely enjoyed our stay.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: great family resort, ideal for children

Loved that the main pool (which is very large and has a number of different areas with different water levels) is right close to the beach. We were able to secure our spot in the morning and go back and forth between the beach and the pool, keeping our "home base" that we can virtually see from either spot. The only thing that would make it nicer is if the ocean was "clear"....

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Amazing resort!

WE had a great time and actually liked this resort more than where we were last year - Fantasia. There was more to do, lots of choices for food and lots of pool space with 5 pools. Not having to get up early and save a space at the pool was amazing. The beach is always the best. We upgraded to the beach villas that were recently renovated. They were lovely. My son loved the surf pool but it is not covered in the price of the resort. Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Lovely Stay

My trip was Dec 29-Jan 5/25, along with my two nieces. The complex is huge but there are always golf carts to take you to wherever you want on resort grounds. Food was great, whether it was buffet or a la carte. My niece has fish allergies but she was her own advocate and had a Spanish note to provide each food manager - each manager was prepared and on the ball! Lots of shops to poke about and buy trinkets/souvenirs. Room was dated but the fan and a/c worked all week. Maid service was ade [... read more]quate. We helped ourselves to clean towels from the linen room on our floor. The beach walks were the best! Our resort had a postage stamp area allocated for loungers. Not that wide but deep. It was quite crammed which isn't my style but hey, the weather was great and the beer was cold so it was all good! Catamaran excursion is definitely worth it and an afternoon visit to Chez Nicole is a must!

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Perfect holiday

This is our fourth trip to Catalonia. Three times on the family side and one time on the adult side we are already looking into rebooking for this October on the adult side and once again with our entire family next February as well on the outside. Our trip was amazing and everyone had a fantastic time. I have no complaints whatsoever about anything at this resort. Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Our second home!

Honestly, I don't know where to start. But I guess let's start with the best part, the staff. From the moment you check in to the moment you leave, you are treated with the utmost respect, such kindness and a feeling of belonging. I start my day off with the best coffee in the court yard, In my opinion, Yara makes the best! then onto breakfast, where we were greeted every day by amazing staff! A big thank you to generoso, he made sure we never left without a smile. A big thank you to Pina Colada, Lil weyne, ninga, Road Runner, Smiley, and Rambo. You guys are amazing! The resort is small and just what we like. The rooms are good and clean with friendly cleaning staff our room was always clean and well stocked with drinks. Do I think the resort is the most stunning? No, but it's the sweetest, well-kept, and absolutely feels like home. One last think I definitely cant forget, if you ever need assistance with anything gust related find Manuel he is amazing!! We were returning guests, and I can't wait to rebook for next February! A must visit in my books

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Needs improvement

I am writing to give feedback on my recent stay at Viva Heavens Wyndham in Puerto Plata DR from Feb 26 - March 6. I travelled with my boyfriend and one other couple. I found the hotel room to be adequate however, was lacking in some of the finishing details. The spacers to lay tiles in the bathroom were cemented into the floor instead of being removed before grouting. There were numerous spots where paint drippings dried onto the walls. The locking mechanism for the patio door was not very s [... read more]ecure. On at least 3 separate occasions during the week, we had to have our room keys reprogrammed as they would not work. Our friends in room 4305 had to have the entire door handle mechanism replaced after 3 consecutive days of it not working. Seems like details were not a priority. The alcoholic drinks were lacking. Beer and wine was ok, however the sparking white champagne tastes like apple cider, not sparkling wine. It was difficult to get some drinks made at the bar ie Chunky Monkey (no chocolate), no Frappuccino at coffee bar (no chocolate). No cranberry juice one day, no mint for a mojito another day. Not acceptable to be running out of staple items for a bar. The premium brands of alcohol were reserved for Wyndham members only which was disappointing. The pool area was very nice however was lacking sufficient chairs and shade. More umbrellas or a roofed sunshade is required. The most disturbing thing that happened, happened near the pool. An elderly lady was walking out of the pool. She slipped and fell and went down very hard on the edge of the pool. A couple of guests came to her rescue. She sustained a very large bruise and deep cut from the edge of the pool. One guest ran to the towel station at the pool and asked for a first aid kit, which they gave to them. The first aid kit was not very well equipped, and alcohol had leaked out of the first aid kit, so the contents were not sterile anymore. The two guests provided first aid to the lady and then took her to the front desk to report the accident. At no time, despite there being several bartenders at the pool bar and the person at the towel bar who handed the first aid kit over, came to the person’s aid or inquire about if she was OK. No hotel staff came to their aid at all. We sampled all of the a la carte restaurants except for the Dominican one. All were very good. No complaints at all. The buffet was adequate but repetitive and not a lot of variety. We had to ask the staff at the omelette station for bacon and several days he said it was not available? Again, why was it not available and why was it hidden and had to be asked for? The beach restaurant was again repetitive and not a lot of variety. The beach at this resort was lovely. Lots of shade and lounge chairs. It was a pleasurable vacation but I would not recommend or revisit this same resort. The resort staff and management need to be more attentive and pay attention to detail in order to be considered to be offering a 4 or 5 star experience.

Grand Palladium Punta Cana: Simply Amazing

We arrived in the evening of February 19, and we're greated smiles and lots of help with our luggage. Our check in went smooth with no problems on the language side. We were taken to our room which was not far from the front lobby, which made us a little uneasy as we thought it could a little noisy, but our fears were eliminated when we closed the door. Ocean Blue and Sand: Great Caribbean Resort

The staff were great, rooms were clean, completely updated shower. The two pools were great also, for children and adults. The buffet was great a wonderful selection of food and no shortage. The al-carte restaurants mostly good. The Mexican restaurant needs some work with service, organization, both at front door, and busying of tables,, food was very average, but tasty, you left hungry. When you arrived you heard I have a reservation I thought no reservation allowed. You look in the restaurant it was almost empty no room available had to come back at a different time that they reserved for you. Another question. But all in all resort is what you expect for a Caribbean resort. A crowd please not at the top of my list as a five star. Having all that I would return to this resort. P.S. Take private transportation 1.5 hours after air travel to get to resort.
