Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: FANTASTIC
We were at the resort for nine days. The weather, the beach and pools were truly awesome. The daily buffets were well planned and very good. The ala carte restaurants were very good. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room was cleaned very well and was comfortable. The only downside was the plumbing, the toilet would not flush properly, but it was quickly fixed by staff.

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: We liked this resort so much, we returned for the second time.
As stated, this was a return trip, having gone to the Aquamarine in 2019. The only difference was the carrier. A special shoutout to Hector in reception who handled our request for a room change closer to the lobby and buffet so that my wife did not have to walk far on her bad knees. Our room was great, the bed was comfortable. Great food at the buffets. The only drawback to this resort is the availability of the a la cartes. This might be that this resort is so popular.Checkout was seamless. If [... read more]we wanted to go to the beach, theatre, or other places, reception made a trolley readily available. Great resort !!!!

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Very nice resort
Our trip started off a sour note, we had a single female friend travelling with us and had requested adjoining or rooms side by side.
They had my wife and I and our single female friend in different buildings. We complained to our check in person named Gala,
She got us in the same building but different floors( as good as it was going to be)
As for the resort, the restaurants and food was very good, the restaurant staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean, butler service wa[... read more]s excellent. The pools and beach were very clean and not too crowded

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Beautiful resort, well maintained.
This resort could easily move up to a 5 star rating with just a couple of improvements. In the opinion of everyone in our group, there is a problem with smoking. There are too many areas for inconsiderate smokers to do their harm. The smoking is allowed in the lobby, on the beach, all around the pool, and other areas as well. It looks to me like the resort is trying to improve, but they still have a long way to go. Smokers light up around babies, toddlers, children, and just about anywhere th[... read more]ey want. Their cigarette butts are thrown all over the resort, and look very unsightly...a real problem esp.aroung the pool area. There should be non-smoking throughout the resort, with just a few smoking sections allowed.
The only other complaint was: too many mosquitos on the resort. We all felt there should have been more spraying to help control the mosquito problem. We had mosquitos in our room every night, (we think the cleaning staff open up the patio doors every day while they clean)...and had to try and kill the mosquitos every night before going to sleep, - we didn't always succeed in getting them all. We came away with horrible, multiple mosquito bites.

Bahia Principe Grand Samana Roulette: Two words ... Fantastic Trip!
I booked this trip a bit last minute to surprise my husband for his 40th birthday. The roulette option was very unconventional for me, but I reviewed both Bahia hotels and figured I'd be happy with whichever resort we ended up at. We were fortunate to get the Cayacoa. Our gardeview room was upgraded to a view of the pool and ocean. The views from anywhere on the resort are spectacular. It's a quick walk in to town and the causeway along the ocean is also an amazing option. The bartender (R[... read more]aul) at the main pool was awesome. The entertainment staff including Flo and Jeffrey were so friendly. They remembered my husband by name! But were not pushy in the least. You could tell they truly enjoyed their job. The dancing lessons around the pool were fun, aqua aerobics were entertaining and volleyball in the pool was a not to be missed event! There was a pretty good selection of food and no issues with the a la carte restaurants. We had issues with our door which required them to change the handle which afterwards caused issues with our keys, but we thoroughly enjoyed our vacation none the least. We were fortunate to have other amazing guests at the hotel the week we were there. We would most definitely recommend this resort.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Amazing Hotel
The beach was fantastic - always room under the palapas. The food was great at all a la carte restaurants except Brasilian where the meat was not cooked properly - too tough.
The room was great as well as cleaning staff. Everyone was always ready to help.
Restaurant reservations were easy to make from the app of the hotel, either on your phone or on the screens in the lobby.
Fantastic 14 day holiday.

Bahia Principe Grand Samana Roulette: Beautiful Beach
I enjoyed my trip. The resort was better than my trip last year to Mexico. There are a few things about the resort in DR that I didn’t like. The lobby bar closed at 11pm. You HAD to go to the disco if you wanted a drink after that. There was no place to get snacks. Chips. Nuts. Crackers. Cookies. The room was beautiful. The view was amazing! I would definitely go back to DR. The roulette was pretty cool. If you’re flexible...that’s definitely the way to go! Saved us some big bucks!

Bahia Principe Grand Samana Roulette: Amazing!!! Spectacular! Bahia Principe Cayacoa Roulette!
When we landed at Samana airport we went to the air canada rep and he told us we were going to the BPG Cayacoa. (Most reveiwes said that 99% of the roulette people end up here). The resort is 45 mins from the airport which was fine. Checkin was ok a little slow the whole bus was at our resort. (Its not like punta cana where there are 20 resorts in a row and they drop off people like bus stops).
Since we did the roulette we got whichever room was available. We got the room with 2 double beds. E[... read more]ven though when we booked the trip we had requested a king bed. It was so late by the time we checked in, ate a snack at the snack bar, we didnt care to bother with a room change. Felt like more of a hassle. So we ended up moving some furniture around and pushed the beds together, and it was fine.
This resort is not at all suitable for small children or people who are unable to walk too much. It is built on a hill and is ALL slopes and stairs. We stayed in bldg 21 and it took 116 stairs to get to the main buffet. U can call reception from your room and they will send a golf cart to come pick u up. But that could sometimes take up to 10-15 minutes of waiting. So we just walked. If there was a cart waiting to pick up someone else we would hop on. But we didnt wait.
We saw maybe 3 kids the whole week we were here. Bringing strollers will be a nightmare here!!! Unless u can get a room in the hotel building which has elevators and not the outside villas.
There is free wifi everywhere. Rooms, lobby, restaurants, pools, even spotty connection at the beach. Once you check in you can log on. You can book ala carte restaurants on the app. (We teied the Orcadea, amazing!)
We had an amazing week. Walking a lot. Food is great here. Lots of variety. We enjoyed everything and were not picky at all. Drinks were good too. We have been going to cuba the last few years so come back to DR was very refreshing!
The place is spectacular so green and grogeous. The most scenic views we have ever seen.
Extremely clean and well groomed.
Bathrooms by the pool and lobby are very clean. Servers and everyone working around the resort are very nice. A $1 tip and a smile can go a long way. They are Ready to serve and help at all times.
Beware of the bahia principe privilege guys in the lobby. They are vultures and will try and sell u time shares and upgrades. They are v annoying and persistant but if u say no to them 2-3 times they will leave u alone. Do not make eye contact with them and do not let them start up a conversation. U will waste 1-2 hrs of a good day just trying to get them to shut up! He will start of by offering u a necklace and then its down hill from there lol
The beach is very small, yiu ca the elevatorfeom the main poil area or u an walk down hundreda of steps on the other side. Water is merky. Sand is brown. So if u are expecting to see crystal blue water and white sand u will be disappointed.
Its very clean though. The far section of the beach is shared with the locals which was not a bother. Some reviewers complained that there were too many locals on the beach. We did not find that at all. We spent more time at the pools all week anyways.
Our block of villas (bldg 21) had its own pool and bar. Very quite...we hung out there on a cloudy day and were by ourselves the whole day which was brilliant.
Our room 2106 was great. Big. Clean. Bathroom also was great. Lots of good pressure hot water.
Too many mosquitos though! Bring mosquito repellant and keep the ac cranked in the room. Do not turn the ac off...or u will get invaded by mosquitos. Also leave the bathroom door open so the whole area is cold. It gets very cold at night. We ended up wearing socks to bed. But we didnt want to be bitten! So bring long pjs!
Walked into town one day which was nice. Its very safe. Theres a Bahia shopping village. Vendors will approach you a lot but will leave u alone if u say no thanks. DO NOT book any excursions with random vendors in town!!!
Walked on the "bridge to nowhere" a few times. Its a very long walk. We loved it. Dont walk it at night as its totally isolated and cut ofd from the hotel.
We did the National Park excusion which was excellent. I would highly recommend. Be sure to wear running shoes as you will be walking in caves etc. Alot of people wore flipflops and its very rocky and slippery.
All in all excellent resort and a wonderful week!!!

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Sprawling resort needs a better restaurant reservation system
My husband and I spent our Anniversary week at Luxury Bahia Akumal from February 23 to March 1, 2020. We booked this location because it offered adults only facilities, was expansive and it was right on the water. The beach and grounds were lovely and well kept. We stayed in an ocean front room in building 66 which the closest to the beach and the perfect location. The rooms had basic furnishings and amenities. Some aspects of the room showed wear (eg - there was rust in the bath around some of[... read more] the fixtures and the tie backs on the bed curtains were dirty). While I’d consider the grounds and common areas 4 stars, the rooms could only be considered 3. They have many restaurants from which to choose, which was another selling feature, but it’s almost impossible to get a reservation! It seems that you have to book prior to arrival in order to get seating. This was very disappointing. When we could get a reservation it was at 5:30 or 9:30 for dinner. Thankfully the buffets were very good with a lot of variety. The resort was full of Canadians and although they have a lovely sports bar, they couldn’t play the Leafs or Raptors games. I’ve been to other resorts in Mexico that had access to all the games. This was also disappointing. The alcohol was not top shelf and some options like Grand Marnier was an extra charge. I couldn’t recommend this resort to people who are accustomed to 4.5 to 5 star resorts as the rooms are basic and in poor repair and lack of restaurant choice. The beach and grounds are truly beautiful, but I would only book this resort again if it was a deep discount.
We enjoyed our stay at BP Luxury Esmeralda in January 2020. the food was good, service nice, and grounds were tidy and beautiful. The beach was clean, the pools were clean also. Booking with our agent Kathleen was the easiest part. I wouldn't book without her advice. We enjoyed the Dominican.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Wonderful Resort. Has Everything!
This resort has everything you want or need for an amazing holiday. The food is excellent, especially at the different restaurants. While it is a huge complex containing 7 different themed resorts, it is very efficiently run. Facilities and activities for all your vacation needs are all within the resort, including shopping. Quality entertainment shows every night. The pools are very clean, beach wonderful, although difficult to get seating in the shade at times. Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: HORRIBLE 3RD AND 4TH STAY !! LAST 2 OUT OF 4 VISITS DISGUSTING
From having to kill cochroaches in our room, to the tubs not working to the very loud screech every time we flushed our toilet to the filthy dirty halls with extremely badly soiled carpets throughout to dirty dishes being left on hall tables directly outside our room for 4 days at a time to drywall/plaster in the stairs we used multiple times every single day not being cleaned up until our 8th day was unacceptable. Took lots of pics including the roaches we were killing. We have stayed at this [... read more]resort multiple times. Every single time with issues. The first couple times the issues were handled/fixed immediately with great results. But the last 2 times not even close to our first couple experiences here. We go to Jamaica every year for our anniversary, this was our 25th anniversary. We arrived to a room that was just freshly used, bathroom not cleaned, the towels all used and wet, the bed soiled, the fridge completely empty. We immediately went back to the front desk and waited for what seemed an hr for a new room. This time we were taken to another building and the view was beautiful but the room was awful. We requested soooo many times for a room change and were told to report to the front desk after breakfast one morning for our new room keys and info, when we returned we were told they didn't have any notes with anything we mentioned. Feb. 14th our 25th anniversary, we go to get in the jacuzzi tub and it doesn't work in fact it starts spitting out gross grey water out of the button so we had to get right out of the tub. Last year the wires caught on fire and filled our room with a terrible smell and smoke, we had to go out on the balcony and wait for our room to clear. From our first visit to this visit the vacations have been night and day, 100 % complete opposites. To save and spend $10,000.00 at this resort is soooooo sad and disappointing and a complete rip off. After this visit I would only have negative things to say about this resort. Not to mention when we left last visit we left an entire suitcase filled with things for a local person that hung out on the beach. He never received our suitcase. The person, the resort employee, whom is still there NEVER gave our gift to this person. The employees that are selling time share or whatever they're doing are relentless and don't leave you alone, from the second you get there, it's unbelievable actually. Every time you leave your room they're at you trying to get you to have a meeting with them to sell you something, (guessing time share). Not to mention how rude they become when you stick with your "no thank you". The staff were told how important this vacation was to us and never even made an effort to make it special even though we were told they would. I'm sure there are many other things I can say but I'm sure you get the jest. If you want to waste10 GRAND of your hard earned money to stay in a room with cochroaches you have to keep killing, tubs that clearly don't work, toilets that are broken, and staff that 100% lie to your face and really don't care about your stay at all then this is the place for you ! We finally realized after multiple attempts going to the front desk to get anything done that staff are clearly told to lie to you just to get you to walk away from that counter, I have no other explanation for this other then that. As it was many different people we spoke with and each one said that they would make notes and not 1 single one of them did. Jamaica is such a beautiful place, don't waste your money on this place.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Repeat repeat guest
We always have a great vacation at the Bahia Principe Grand Tulum. This was my third visit and I had a great time.
Traveled with sister and relaxed the entire week. On several occasions we ordered in room service, a wonderful experience.
Our food arrived hot after a short waiting time, the server took the time to set the table for our meal, the service was immaculate.
Morning coffee service was delivered with pastries, yum. Looking forward to my next stay at this hotel.

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Excellent trip!
The resort was great and Air Transat offered very comfortable flights. This is my second trip to the Dominican Republic and to Bahia Principe and both times, I had a great time. I am definitely planning on returning.
