Barcelo Solymar: Somewhat disappointed.

Where we upgraded to a superior room, I was hoping that the Barcelo would have had a better hotel room. I mean for Cuba standards it is ok, only that the pillows have a strange odour and bathrooms are in dire need of an upgrade. At meal time it would be nice to not have pork 4 days in a row as main dish and to fluctuate different meat groups. My husband and I both have welts on our legs so we are not sure what bit us while we were there. Beach is gorgeous. Staff are awesome. Waitress, Moira (no [... read more]t sure I am spelling her name right) and other servers very friendly and efficient. Bartenders made great drinks. Overall a bit disappointed. but still enjoy our time in the sun.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Great Resort and Beach

This resort was great. Most impressed by the spacious beach and plentiful chairs. The pool area was crowded, and all lounge chairs occupied. Buffet provided choice of foods, only one a la carte which we did not try.

Barcelo Gran Faro Los Cabos: A 3 star hotel advertising as a 5 star!

I have never written a negative review and I am about to do so. Let me start with the positive: The staff ( with the exception of a couple at the front desk). Everyone was very welcoming, helpful and just lovely. Activities by the pool seemed entertaining. Now,, the disappointment : upon our arrival, we were told that we had to pay WiFi per each needed item ( the description of our package mentions WiFi included). Then , we had booked a superior room with Ocean view and were given a very [... read more] basic room with view on the pool ( bathroom had blood stains on the ground). After complaining about the room we were literally told “ room with ocean view meant partial view to the ocean”. I fully disagreed and the partial view also meant to bend sideways on the balcony to see a very small part on the Ocean. We were then proposed $1,000 to upgrade to front view and with one bed ( we were 2 friends traveling together ), which we declined. After many complaints and harassing their front desk ( not something I really enjoyed) for 2 days, we were finally moved to a basic room but with both a pool and ocean view. Food was mediocre with great service. This hotel needs a design revamp and can’t be considered a 5 star hotel. It is no more than a 3 stars.

Barcelo Solymar: Great resort

I’ve been to Cuba many many times this resort I could say eight out of 10 I really enjoyed it the only problem the activities group were the most laziest people that I’ve ever met in any any resort . The people in the service they were very very friendly I would go back to solmar. Especially the location which is right on the strip

Barcelo Gran Faro Los Cabos: Great resort with some minor issues.

At first I wasn't sure about the hotel. On arrival they didn't have my reservation and there was no water or beverages available on arrival. When our reservation was finally confirmed, our luggage was taken to a "check in" area while we awaited our room. We were never offered a place to freshen up or change from our flight. When we finally got our room, I was happy to discover that we got king bed and a view of the ocean as requested. The bed was comfortable and the fridge was well stocked. T [... read more]he room had some issues that could easily be fixed, the bathroom grout was dirty and the air conditioner was really loud. Maid service each day was good and the hotel grounds were kept really clean. The proximity to San Jose was nice and there were quite a few restaurants available within walking distance. I have to say that the food at the buffet was not very good. The service during the morning buffet was amazing and the buffet ok. The dinner service and dinner buffets were not good at all. We lost one alacarte as we were told that the seafood restaurant would be open on Tuesday and they cancelled it and it was my last night. Had I known I would have done at a different restaurant. I was disappointed that you had to pay for internet. They didn't even have a customer computer that you could use with free internet. I think the thing that made this vacation was the service in the morning, the size of the resort, how clean it was kept, although a little more maintenance should be done just to keep it fresh. The people we met were very friendly. Would I go back, yes.

Barcelo Maya Grand Resort: Beautiful Resort

This was the largest resort we have stayed at however the layout was really well planed. The distance from our room to the beach or restaurants was not far. No need for trolley buses you find at other resorts although they actually do have a double decker bus that makes the rounds between all the resorts in the complex. Lots of activities to do, from snorkelling, jet skis, hobby cats, they have dolphin swimming on the site. Beach was clean lots of palm trees for shade, lots of chairs, the usual problems with sea weed but nothing over the top, staff was very friendly, special shout-out to “Brian the Myan “. All in all very nice resort, we would return there.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Beautiful hotel wildlife is amazing

Pros - Animals on the resort are beautiful actually had monkeys coming to our patio - no reservations required for restaurants - Great staff -Good food Cons -They have a motorized gondola that goes through the resort you’re not allowed on it?? apparently it’s from the other resort next door we get to watch it go through our resort but can’t get on? They do have one for us but not the same it only goes up and down a short distance with a guy pushing it with a stick - we [... read more] brought teenagers that like to play pool but unfortunately were not allowed in the area where the pool tables are?? In the past when I’ve been to different hotels they normally turn the bar into a bar after a certain time?? - not enough Pool chairs Or beach chairs very hard to find one that’s not been claimed in the mornings honestly been to numerous hotels never had this bad of an issue:( Looking at it you would think it’s almost a lazy river going through the resort but every deceiving the bridges are blocked underneath so you can’t swim under you have to get out of the water to go over to Pool bar because of the dividers between pools -

Barcelo Huatulco: Fantastic!

I can't say enough good about this resort, and that might be why this is our 3rd stay here. The updated rooms are wonderful, the food always has many variations and the chefs are obviously talented. We will be back as time permits.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Amazing resort

This hotel was beautiful. Lots of wildlife. Monkeys swinging in the trees, aquanas, deer, birds....pools were great lots of pool side service. Food was good, best steak is at the Italian restaurant... I would say the one disappointing thing would be the gondola, there is a small one that does about 100 feet but a motorized one that goes through the resort, but it’s for a different hotel and you can’t ride it. Also some of the people in our group ended up with no balconies even though we p [... read more]aid for this and had to switch rooms 2 days into our vacation. But overall I would recommend this resort.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Amazing resort!!!!

When my girlfriend and I arrived, we were greeted with friendly smiles and hellos. Check-in was fast and we were escorted by a staff member to our building(19). Our luggage showed up 10 min later and we were off to explore this beautiful resort. Everything from lounging at the pool/ beach to the delicious food was nothing short of amazing. I can’t wait to come back. This resort is a gem!!

Occidental Cozumel: Nice Resort

Occidental Cozumal is a beautiful resort. The staff are very friendly and hard working, rooms are nice and spacious and fridge was always stocked. However the food needs some work. Two of the nights it was a Chinese concept, 4 days apart. Also had 3 nights of severe severe diarrhea.

Barcelo Solymar: Sun and fun

Have been to Cuba 13x love the people and country. This hotel was nicer then some i have stayed in clean well laid out. Was surprised to be able to use facilities at hotel next door but was not as impressed with that hotel felt mine was better. Location to town was great. Beach was well kept I was very happy with everything at this hotel and would definitely return here again Thanks for a great vacation

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Barcelo Maya Caribe

I thought the grounds were impeccably clean and very well maintained. The buffets could use more Mexican food, but the service from all of the staff was very good. Drinks were good, it was a little out dated and could use a bit of a refresh but I had a very enjoyable time.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Amazing Resort ! 6 out of 5 Stars !

My wife and I stayed at the Barcelo Bavaro Beach ( Adult Only ) Resort in Punta Cana, Dominican during the week of March 18th, 2019 and we absolutely loved everything about it. The weather was perfect ( 29 degrees and sunny every day ) and the resort even more perfect. We have been to many resorts in Cuba and Mexico over many years and this was our first time to the Dominican and we have declared this resort our 2nd home away from home. The warmth and friendliness of the entire staff was so welcoming. Everything about this resort exceeded our expectations from the super friendly staff ( which by the way, the amount of staff blew us away.) There were more than plenty of staff there to serve and assist and there was never a line up at the bars, or the lunch buffets etc. The food was absolutely amazing and I found it better than the Mexican Resorts that we had been to in the past. There were plenty of choices of restaurants to choose from and we thoroughly enjoyed every restaurant we ate at. This resort has the best of both worlds. It is 2 resorts in 1. The Adult Only Beach Resort is part of the Barcelo Palace Resort which is a much bigger resort and caters to families for the most part. We stayed on the Adult Only Beach Resort which is a much smaller size resort that has the nice small size resort feel that my wife and I enjoy and the rooms are all right there on the beach and we have our own pool, pool side bar, and several restaurants and buffet. But, we had access as well to all the Palace side of the resort has to offer as well such as their casino, bowling alley and arcade, restaurants, upscale shopping mall, water park that includes water slides and a wave pool, mini golf and one of the other deciding factors as to why we chose this resort was they have their own golf course on the resort as well and we were able to get a few rounds in during our stay. Such a nice enjoyable relaxing vacation. We will be back next year, and the next year and the.........

Occidental Punta Cana: Nice

Nice green grounds, nice blue swimming pools, nice restaurants. Some Canadians, Some ethnic Italians and French. Over 50 % Russians but no large groups. Mostly polite couples. Standard Superior Rooms do not get international drinks except wine. Only domestic drinks at regular standard bars. They are not good. The worse mohito drink I ever tasted. Water nor clear because of Sand in the water. Yellow flags most days.

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Lovely resort

This resort is the best. The grounds are beautiful and spacious. The pools are huge and the lap pools are such a bonus. The rooms are clean. The staff is super friendly and helpful. We had an issue with our room but it was dealt with very professionally and timely and to our satisfaction. The food is super and lots of variety.

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Good Resort

Friendly staff; ground floor rooms were noisy after 11 pm at night since the revelers were getting back; washrooms were dirty (restaurants and towel service areas) and could use a system similar to Ontario, Canada whereby the cleaner signs a sheet located inside the washroom every hour (i.e. that the washroom has been serviced);

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Amazing resort

Loved everything about this resort. Friendly staff amazing beach! Lots of shopping and things to do! We swam with dolphins right on the resort. We had an amazing seven day trip and plan to take the family back in the future.

Occidental Cozumel: Beautiful Resort

The resort contained beautiful well maintained gardens and grounds which housed an array of wildlife such as iquanas, gekos and birds (if you're not an animal lover don't worry they will not approach you). The rooms were clean and spacious with lots of hot water and adequate air conditioning. Lots of choices at the buffet and food handling was of high standard. Adult pool was lovely and we enjoyed the daily visits by the iguanas but you had to select your pool chairs early in the morning if you wanted a spot. Beach was nice and contained a childerns pool nearby. I can’t say enough about the hotel staff they made every effort to make your stay enjoyable especially the food and bar servers. We also enjoyed the pizza at night and the nightly shows are of good quality. We arrived around 8:30pm at the Cozumel airport, ignore the sales people in the airport lobby (they make you think they're your hotel reps) and go directly through to meet your ride to the hotel which is ~20 min drive. Once at the hotel checkin took 10-15 min and then we were driven to our room. Even at 9pm the buffet area was open, also pizza was available upstairs in the open patio. We purchased the island tour package which was good but too long and snorkling (Charra- ch?? the bigger boat with a bathroom) which was fantastic, we saw turtles and a lot of fish, crew was great too. We recommend downloading your airline app on a cell phone to checkin to your flight prior to as it will eliminate standing in the very long checkin line at the airport. You receive 1hr free internet, there were 2 computers onsite I assume for flight checkin. Extra internet access can be purchased for a fee.

Barcelo Puerto Vallarta: Great Resort

Everything was perfect except the nightly shows. They would have been great if not of the over sexualized costumes of the women. I chalked it up to Mexico being behind the times. I especially enjoyed the rooms, clean and comfortable. Snack Bar was great. Staff was kind and helpful.
