Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Great beach/friendly staff

The overall resort was nice but a little TLC and repairs are needed. Chipped tiles in the pool, peeling paint (normal wear and tear items). The food was good - we were always able to find something to eat and the staff were so kind. The beach was the best we’ve been to in Cuba - soft white sand, clean and calm crystal water. Our room was well cared for and cleaned daily, we requested a king bed (as a married couple) but received 2 doubles - not ideal. Great big shower in bathroom. Loved the  [... read more]coffee shop on site. The only negative was that some areas/bars/food were advertised as 24 hrs but it was not and staff didn’t seem to care (despite it being listed on all of their paperwork). Not a lot of children (we had a baby with us) which was ok for us and not a place for young adults to party. More of a relaxing vacation spot.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Good experience!

An overall good experience. The resort staff is amazing. The plus wad the internet available in the room( 7 hours included) Make internet included! But I recommend for the resort management to take bold action toward maintenance. For now is good( the room are for example excellent) but without maintenance in two years this hotel could became two star hotel. The food was very good( but repetitive 80%)

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Great Resort!

The hotel was great! This was my first time at this resort but my third time in Cuba. This was by far the best hotel. I would absolutly recommend this resort to anyone traveling to Cuba. The location was also ideal.

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Beauty and calm

The hotel was amazing. The personnel was polite, present for us at anytime of the day and welcoming. The site was really clean and the beach too. The beach was one of the most beautiful at Cuba, and we went 12 times. The room was spacious with working AC.

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: The rooms have screens!

I loved the fact these rooms had screens! As we do not use A/C, we were so excited that the rooms had working screens that even locked. We slept with the wonderful tropical breeze coming in and woke up to the chirping of birds. The beach was wonderful - except that the music blared all day. Would have been great if the loud music was left to the pool area. Food was good although we were highly discouraged from eating outdoors (doors leading out to the patio were locked). We really enjoyed our stay. Amazing beach, good pool, friendly staff and fantastic coffee. We loved being able to eat at the al a cartes every night because it kept the buffet from getting too repetitive.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Relaxing and Very Clean

Having a butler to cater to your needs is one of a kind. We were lucky to have Alexis and Javier as our butlers- making sure we were well taken cared of. Thanks Alexis for the surprise birthday treat for both my husband and our friend👍! The beach is gorgeous as well as the pool. The rooms are well kept, other than problems with the patio door. The restaurants are average, not enough on the menu to choose from. Sunset patio restaurant can offer more food choices. We barely enjoyed our lobste [... read more]r dinner as the mosquitos had a feast on US😩! Most hotels have buffets while Royalton only had 3 restaurants to choose from. Well manicured landscape/ garden and very clean. Employees can be warmer and friendly. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and experience at Royalton Cayo Santa Maria.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Awesome Resort

The Starfish Resort is for you if you want to experience the Cuban architecture. The rooms are clean and the maid service is exceptional. All staff at the resort are amazing. I would have no issues recommending the Starfish Resort in Cayo Santa Maria, Cuba. This is my fourth time at this resort and the staff treats me like family.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Good value, fabulous beach

The beach is nice, 2km of fine sand and ocean bottom is clean compact sand, no seaweed, no rocks. We had no problem finding lounge chairs each day at various times. The room is not 4 star but a/c worked superbly to the exact 22degC we wanted, the shower stall is spacious with strong hot water perfect for a clean up after an ocean swim. Leidy was great serving us espresso or cappuccino at breakfast time. There are meat grill station, pasta station and stir fry station. Mike’s Cafe has the best variety of coffee. We had cappuccino, cappuccino frozen, strawberry smoothie, etc each day. Joel provided excellent service, sending us off with a large bottle of cold water and running back with plastic cups! Lobby bar downstairs is popular with goog selection of drinks. The ping pong table is about to fall apart with tattered net, but we managed to enjoy playing beside the lobby bar one hour twice a day. It is not under the hot sun and wind was seldom a factor. Osvany, a good player played with us everyday. He would surely miss our level of play using our real ping pong bats with real rubber, unlike the bare bats and 1star ball. Ala carte restaurants which we went 5 times are substandard by Cuban standards, no buns, minimal selection. My best choice was spicy goat in Compay Cuban restaurant.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: AMAZING RESORT!

This hotel is absolutely amazing! From the grounds to the staff.Food was amazing best I've had in Cuba 9.5/10 Beach 10/10 I will be back! Best hotel in Cuba! If your thinking of going to Cuba I highly recommend this place. You will not be disappointed.

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Bate's Motel

The hotel grounds and public area were beautiful and the beach was fantastic. But that's where it starts and stops!! When we arrived, it took more than an hour to get checked in as the lady was busy cleaning her fingernails with a pair of scissors....it was after 11 p.m.... we get to our room to discover that there are no towels, no toilet paper, no pillows, the balcony door didn't lock and we were on the main floor, the tv converter didn't work, and the air conditioning kept cutting in and out [... read more]. It took forever for hotel maintenance to come and fix the lock on the room so we could go to sleep. The bed was hard as a rock. The mosquitoes were a nightmare. The food was atrocious, and I found a long, grey hair in my fruit from the buffet. I made reservations at the Italian restaurant and when they opened the doors 20 minutes late they announced they had no Italian food, only chicken and salmon. I broke a glass in the foyer and the shards of glass stayed on the floor for almost 2 hours before they were cleaned up. All in all, the staff were very friendly, but I would not recommend this place nor will I ever go back to this hotel or this area.

L hotel a été vendu a des chinois a ce qu on ma dit le 1er avril 2019 ,nous sommes arrivée le 5 avril bel hotel ,bon service,propre ,pas beaucoup de monde .En arrivant ils nous ont proposé la section adulte mais notre chambre était dans la bloc 2 pres de tout la section adulte était plus pres de la plage avec un buffet privé une piscine avec annimation tout cela pour 200dollars de plus par personne .Les resto a la carte était tres bien ,grill sur la plage avec service, et grill a la pisc [... read more]ine principale mais je n y ai pas mangé.Le buffet tres pauvre des morceaux de macreaux mariné pas du tout apptissant jamais de pain frais n y gateaux pas de frites pas de pizza,quelques fois du riz frit mais c était la fille d attente.Pour les végan c était tres décevant tres peu de choix et répétitif.Pas beaucoup de fruit en parlant avec une préposée elle nous a fournie des mangue de chez son voisin tres apprécié.Plusieurs personnes sont passé chez le voisin je ne sais pas par ou il y allait c était le Dawa et la c était parfait du pain des gateaux des légumes et fruits a volonté .Un soir ils ont fait circuler un feuillet d appréciation et je me suis plaint qu ils n y avait meme pas d ollives et le l endemain par miracle ils en ont servi au buffet c est dire qu ils il avait probablement autre chose et qu ils avait probablement instruction d attendre le passage de la possession du nouveau proprio qui lui est responsable de 49% du complexe.La plage magnifique beaucoup d ombre et d autres complexe en constructions.L eau est tres belle mais le fond de sable est vaseux pas vraiment agréable pour moi !Nous avons eu une journée de pluie et le lendemain il y avait un Baracuda de 4 pieds qui se baladait sur le bord de la plage parmis les touristes qui tentait de le prendre en photo il n a jamais attaqué et le samedi il avait disparu , c est tres sauvage beaucoup de choix pour la plongée en surface.Annimation bien, un concert pop un soir a la piscine un autre avec une chanteuse tres agréable au lobby au théatre un passage pour les tout petits un spectable pour général a 9heurespm.

Melia Las Dunas: 3 rd time and still amazing

grounds were beautifully kept. quiet pool and family pool very good. Beach is breathtaking. room was allways made very well. food good..lots of choices. wonderful place and the staff is really what makes it special

Memories Paraiso: OK resort

Need a bit of the investment to deserve those stars . I have bin every where to Cuba for last 25 years min three time per year , every year getting more and more poor and poorer . Santa Maria is one of the best you can get in Cuba . People/staff are nice and polite , love them , trying to work with what they got . I well be back for sure meany more times !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Gorgeous place with some minor concerns

This is an amazing hotel with gorgeous grounds and one of the best beaches. Honestly I don't understand reviewers who behave like queens. Taking to account the price that is asked I would definitely come here again and recommend it to others. If you come here to relax and enjoy the place you will be really surprised but if you come here with an "inspection" it is better to stay at some other place in a different country and for a different price. There are areas that need some maintenance - Food...depends on the day - great variety (not always) with lots of good imported ingredients however the cook is really bad as all dishes are tasteless and meat dishes are like a shoe sole - Entertainment is quite boring - songs and Cuban dances every night

Paradisus Los Cayos: Paradisus Los Cayos, Santa Clara

OUR TRAVELS We travelled to Paradisus Los Cayos with Air Transat Holidays and our tour operator was Hola Sun. From the beginning our flight was delayed around 7 hours and then we lost another 2 hours on the Tarmac due to operational issue. Upon arrival to Santa Clara airport we technically lost a day of our holidays because of the inconvenience of the plane issues. I feel that the tour operators could be more organized. We where directed to the wrong coach bus with our two small children and  [... read more]had to run around in the rain to try to find out where is the correct coach bus travelling to our location. Initially the driver of the initial bus we were on was not caring to assist us, however he ended up helping after. THE HOTEL The hotel is stunning, it's a beautiful property located on a gorgeous turquoise beach. We really enjoyed our family concierge room it was a apartment style living area it had a queen roll out and a king bed in the other room. There was a dining area along with two washrooms and a jet tub, the special touches with the décor are on point throughout. The only issue I would like to mention is the chambermaid service. Our bed was turned down every day and the sheets where sometimes changed. However the place wasn't ever really cleaned. The floors weren't swept, nor washed and the towels where dirty. We even tipped with hope that they would, but unfortunately nothing happened. Later on I came back to my room and she just finished "cleaning it", and lifted her shirt to show me that she was pregnant and that she had a child at home. I kind of figured she wanted me to give her some money or gifts but didn't act on it. We had mentioned to the front reception that the room wasn't being cleaned, but nothing was ever changed. We had a Oceanview room and it was super close to they're 24 hour snack bar which was super convenient. The hotel grounds are immaculate always maintained and the foliage is mature in a sense, so you get a lot of nice flowers and palms as well as banana trees. The concierge check in lounge is very modern and light you can really tell they put a little extra oomph into this resort. There is a kids zone with a pirate ship slide as well as a area for the children where they keep them busy all day long every day its amazing! There is a good amount of a la carte restaurants as well as a smoothie bar with the best coconut ice cream. DINING AND FOOD There is a kids side buffet and an adults side buffet I have been to many hotels in Cuba being a consistent traveller and I personally think this hotel is however one step ahead from any in Cuba in the sense that they have more variety and the food is very well kept. The sanitization standards are high and the waiters and chefs are constantly bringing in new fresh cold food from the back so it's consistent. The expectations of the GM Moad, are very high, the result shows because the food is in tip-top condition and you will always find something yummy for everyone in the family. I would suggest maybe possibly doing a kids menu, although there was plenty to choose from, a lot of kids that are picky eaters so it would help if there was a few more things that were more versatile to those who are. 24 HOUR SNACK BAR We really enjoyed lunch and even dinnertime here, the Supervisor Mercedes along with a few of other hard workers here are amazing, always serve with a smile. The food is delicious and the service here is top notch. They have delicious pizzas here as well as burgers. Our favorites where blue cheese pizza (Quattro Queso) and Paradisus burgers. They also serve really yummy drinks just ask for a Miami Vice :) ENTERTAINMENT For the kids- there is a kids zone, with a pirate ship and slides into the water, lots of playgrounds for the children. They have a kids club that I may say is so amazingly organized. The ladies there are so loving and the kids never want to leave. They have a full day schedule going for the full duration of your trip. The organizers of this hotel really put a lot of love into this section of the hotel and it's evident. For anyone travelling with children, go and experience what the kids zone has to offer because you will not be disappointed. One thing to make note of is that if they don't have anyone to babysit some of them proactively go on the beach and entertain the kids so the adults can enjoy their time more. LATE NIGHT ENTERTAINMENT- In the buffet there are singers and people that play instrumentals to all your latest top 40 music. These people are so talented! Every time we passed by I got goosebumps they have such beautiful voices and are ultra talented with they're instruments! kudos! The central entertainment was super fun as well, they put a lot of effort into the choreography of the night entertainments and the performers always did an amazing job. The bar upstairs (Sky Bar) is super nice as well playing new age music you can kick your feet up in a palapa and enjoy the nights breeze, with company BEACH The beach is gorgeous, It has an ample amount of umbrellas that are placed in your desired location, wherever you want to sit, the gentlemen which work there will personally install the umbrella beside your sun chairs. There is amazing service on the beach whatever you want to drink or eat they will bring for you, and they always do circles just to check if you need anything else. The last two days the water was a little choppy but there was a storm coming. Nevertheless people where still jumping around in the waves. On all other days the water was still and tranquil you could even see the little fishies swimming around. Absolutely beautiful! Never an issue with finding sun chairs always lots of shelters. Special Thanks to Moad, Mercedes and Oswaldo amongst others Moad GM- Thank you for organizing the amazing langouste dinner in the comfort of our room along with the birthday cake for our little one, it was a beautiful touch and we really enjoyed our private dinner. You have made this trip very personal and enjoyable and for that we thank you! You are very needed in this resort keep up the great work! Mercedes- I can't thank you enough for looking after us throughout our trip, you are fantastic! Oswaldo- Super hard working and the kids always enjoyed your Donald Duck voice and your drinks are always top notch quality!

Roc Lagunas del Mar: Buen hotel

Pasamos dias maravillosos, la suite muy buena, la comida varias y buena calidad, la playa y piscina magnificas y la atención especial, la única queja es para el restaurant especializado de comida caribeña, la comida buena, pero el personal no tiene idea de cómo tratar a los clientes, cuando se presta un servicio se hace con calidad y si no se puede mejor no lo ofrezcas, los clientes no tienen por qué cargar con las dificultades de ellos.

This was the absolute worst vacation I have ever been on. I have travelled to Cuba many times but after this week I will never ever go back. The hotel should never have been rated a 5*, it was disgusting, there was hardly any food selection - I lived off bread and butter for 7 days. No one could speak English. We asked for 3 days to change our room as they had us in a sketchy area and we weren’t comfortable, we were locked out of our room for 5 hours because they were “too busy” to send so [... read more]meone to help us. One of the servers asked us back to his place. At 10pm one night, a worker walked right into our room, no knocking or anything just walked right in to “fumigate”. The resort ran out of cups almost everyday, so if you didn’t have your own cup you were out of luck. We went to the snack bar for lunch one day, put our order in and sat down, a few minutes later about 5/6 other tables were seated. They got not only their 1st round of food, they got seconds as well as dessert before the waiter came over to ask us what we ordered (an hour and a half later) - I might add that all the other tables were Spanish people. Seems that if you didn’t speak Spanish at this resort, you didn’t exist. The service was absolutely terrible. I am furious that I not only wasted $1050, but also 5 hard earned vacation days to go on this nightmare trip. I even inquired about leaving 4 days early only to find out that it would cost $500. I will never recommend Sunwing or Cayo Santa Maria to anyone. Not even my worst enemy. We complained to the Sunwing rep at the hotel and all he did was get our room changed - which we had been trying to do since we arrived. I am very upset at how this situation was handled. It is not fair at all. I am only 27 years old, I work very hard for my money and to literally throw away $1050 is incredibly depressing. If I could give less than 1* I would.

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Wonderful Resort!

We were recommended this resort by two other friends. It did not disappoint!! Was very modern, clean and well represented The staff were lovely and we loved the food. It was low season so not very busy but we loved that Beach was awesome The only thing I would recommend for this hotel to stop doing is the loud announcing over the microphone at the pool in the afternoon music is fine but the non stop yelling over the mic is annoying We often left and went back to the quieter beach. Melia Buenavista: Just what the doctor ordered

Very well groomed property and clean facilities. Staff are friendly and attentive, especially the butler. Very quiet and low key, not a party place. Ala carte every night, 2 sister resorts to visit and book meals at (your butler will arrange it). Pool bar and pizza hut were the highlight of the resort!
