Casa Marina Reef Resort: Mostly Good

The grounds, beach and pool are amazing! Booked what we thought was Reef but ended up on the Beach side, no biggie except it was the non renovated side, so it was old and dated. Room was minimal, nothing fancy at all. The house keeper gave us the bare minimum for cleaning, there was hair on the bathroom floor that was there for 3 days until we cleaned it out selves. She only swept, no mopping the whole time we were there. Bartenders were not the friendliest, never spoke to me ever, just looked a [... read more]t me when I ordered drinks and the only way I got anything out of them was if there was a tip involved. When the staff switched on the weekend it was much better. The food at the buffet was the same the whole week, so by the end of 7 days it was enough.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: You get what you pay for

I do not generally write reviews, and relise everyone has their on opion but I feel people need to be aware of this resorts star rating. Blue Bay Villas would have been a excellent resort at some point. The resort is a far cry from any other 4.5/4 star resorts we have been to. Though the staff is friendly, I would not say exceptional. The facilities themselves are very well laid out, the beach is fine and the rooms are big enough. HOWEVER, apon arival we were given a very dark, dirty well worn r [... read more]oom I would expect from a 2 star resort. We had to pay $140 cash to upgrade to a room I felt comfortable enough in to unpack, but once again maybe 3 star worthy. The pool for me was the biggest disappointment. It was Dirty, we are not talking a few leaves dirty we are talking clumps of hair, white goo that sticks to your swim suit, greasy build up that sits on the water and makes you need to drink more in order to get into it. The food was nothing to write home and the selection was lacking (very little variety between day to day) however was a notch above cuba and no one got sick or gained weight! The entire resort needs a good renovation. The pool is missing alot of tiles, pool deck is in bad repair with lots of broken or tiles popping up when you walk on them. The room furniture is what you expect from a well worn motel and the general cleaniness just seems to be lacking. BUT, you get what you pay for and this was a cheap vacation. I do highly suggest the star rating for this hotel be reviewed.

Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: Ver nice resort

Hi I just returned from a 1 week vacation at Emotions resort in Playa Dorada, and had a very nice time. The resort itself is quite pristine,the beach is exquisite, and I felt very safe walking from end to end which is about 3 kilometers. The room was very nice, the bed amazing and the towel situation was good. The people who work for this hotel are extremely polite, friendly and helpful. Kudos to Jose Martinez in the main buffet and Erica who greets you at the entrance both made my visits en [... read more]joyable, kudos also to Karen on the front desk, Lucia in the adults only bar, and last but not least Maria at the beach bar. The downfall for me was the food mediocre at best . In summation good value for money 3.5 star facility

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great place

The hotel was very clean employees are very friendly food was fantastic . beach was clean. Over all great place. Entertainment was bad no real show's it was all people from the crowd who put on the show on

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Nice Resort

I think it was a pleasent experience staying at the Iberastar Costa Dorada Resort. To give context to my review I will have to add that we were a total of 8 adults 5 children travelling to this Resort. Upon arrival I was pleased to see how clean and beautiful the Resort was. The staff were very freindly, welcoming and helpful. They tried their best to accomodate us all close to each other, as we were four families in total. However, we had to wait three plus hours to be able to finally get rooms [... read more]. The room we got a had beautiful ocean view. The room was very clean and on the most part, modern. I will have to add that we asked for a crib for our little girl and when it arrived we noticed a small roach inside of it. We decided to not use it, obviously and let our daughter sleep with us instead. I did not see anymore insects inside our room however, in my sisters room next door they had found two on the wall. During the course of our stay, there were occasions that I saw a man walking around the building with spraying equiptment. I’m assuming he was going into the rooms that had roaches and insects in them. I think its also important to note that the noise level was very umcomfortabl at night and not easy to sleep with. From my room I could hear loud music and in the morning I would get woken up from the kitchn trollies that were being moved around to different parts of the hotel with many plates and glasses in them.The peacokes were beautiful watch as they are let to roam around the hotel but were very noisy, specailly early in the morning. So I would advise that you bring ear plugs. The food was alright, a bit repetative I think. But I would advice you stay away from the sea food. On the last night we had reservations for the greek restaurant which is the snack bar during the day and they served a lot of sea food which caused most of the family to experience stomach problems afterwards. Then again, it could be that we are not used to eating that much sea food and not so much the way they cook it. The highlight of the trip was probably the Japanese restaurant which had a small kitchen for each table and you are able to watc the chef cool you food. The sushi starters were amazingly delicious. The pool was large and I enjoyed that they had a shallow and a deep end (deep meaning it would go as high as my neck when standing on my tipy toes, Im short too). They also had a kitty pool which I would have used more for my daughter but it had no shaded areas and the sun would blare down on us. So we stayed away from that and used the big pool and stayed close to the edges for the shaded areas. The beach was not the greatest. There was a lot of green stuff by the shore and it was not pleasent to swim in. On, the positive side the staff were great as I said and go above and beyond to accomodate you. The place is very well maintained.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: VH Gran Ventana, Puerto Plata

We have been to this resort 2 times and both trips have been amazing. The resort is clean and well taken care of. The staff are friendly and their customer service they take great pride in. The food is amazing, lots of choices and you will come home gaining weight if you are not able to resist yourself. I did and I am a very pick eater. The beaches are clean and beautiful as well. We will try to return again in the future for sure.

Playabachata Hotel: Beautiful resort

Very scenic resort, landscaping exceptional awesome beach, excellent food, friendly staff very clean lacking good evening entertainment no shopping area small gift shop good view of cruise ships leaving Maimon bay rooms clean and spacious all round I give this resort 8 out of 10

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Great Time

Had a really good time. Staff very friendly and helpful. We had perfect weather for the week we stayed so we really lucked out there. The delux rooms are nice, comfortable and clean. The food was good, especially the chicken in the snack bar at lunch. Had bacon at breakfast couple days so that was nice. Solid 3.5 stars.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great family resort

The hotel is great. The grounds and public spaces were beautiful. The people were friendly and accommodated. The food was delicious, although sometimes repetitive but the seasoning was so good. The best a la carte restaurant was the Japanese one. However it also had its downs. To start, checking in took awhile. We were waiting in the reception area until past 4pm and we got to the hotel at 11 am. In addition, we asked for a playpen for my 11 month old and we found a small cockroach on it so we d [... read more]ecided to sleep with her in our bed. The third thing was a leaking on the washroom that it was due to turning off our AC according to the people at the reception. And lastly, the beach area was full of algae due to the season we went I am guessing.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great Family Resort

This hotel is beautiful. The rooms are very clean and the Housekeeping Staff are second to none. The food was excellent and the wait staff were exceptional. The grounds are beautiful with a large pool and the ocean to play in!! People were snorkeling close to shore to see beautiful coloured fish.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Great people!

What really made this trip memorable was the amazing people. The employees At BlueBlay were so friendly and always a smile on their faces. From nightly shows to general pool games and entertainment, they really made our vacation that much more fun. Also, the staff in the buffet were welcoming and remembered our faces every time we walked in for a meal.

Exceptionally clean resort. The staff was always friendly. Pools and beach were clean and welcoming. GREAT snorkeling right on our beach. Food was very good, with a large selection. Cozy resort, without ever feeling like it was too small.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: A great place to stay!

The resort is a perfect place to call home for the week. It’s small size is a bonus to avoid the crowds. Lots of great dinning options. We managed to try them all and enjoyed every meal. The amnesia rooms are nice and the staff did a great job keeping it clean. The beach area is nice and the beach bar and restaurant are both great as well. Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Great value for your money

This is my third time to this resort in 5 years. I come back to this resort because I think it is good value for the money, however, you need to set your expectations, as it's really more like a 3 star resort in my opinion. Pros: beach is clean & you can walk a long way, food is decent...lots of selection, resort is small so you can walk everywhere & it's easy to meet new people, 3 pools 1 being a quiet pool. Staff are hardworking & friendly. Cons: this resort is dated & needs some mai [... read more]ntenance, but it's clean. There is a lobby bar but it's a cash bar. Everyone complains about this, but they don't change it. No one wants to pay for booze at an all inclusive. Improvements: you can now get wifi in a couple of spots on the resort, but it seems to be word of mouth thing to get the password. The Circle One timeshare people were far less aggressive then they have been in the past. What to bring: box of Kleenex and your own hangers, they have some but limited dressers. I will definitely return to this resort.

Nice quaint resort, grounds well kept, rooms a bit outdated, very clean, management very eager to accomodate. Mr Guerro looked after us very well at front desk, beach was great, lots of shade, specialty restaurants good, could always find something to eat at buffet. Bartender Emmanual was very accommodating. Annamation crew fun and lots to do, Veronica was friendly and always interacting with us. Would definitely put on list for a return visit.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Small and Relaxing

Overall a great experience at this resort. Small so easy to get around. Animation team was great special shoutout to Poderosa who went out of her way to be kind. Recommend it for quiet week with friends. Could use a few upgrades here and there though

Paradise Playa Dorada: Good resort

Nice small resort easy to find your way around, grounds kept very nice, ocean view from the restaurant lovely, found the restaurant very noisy more like a canteen, staff not very attentive we left without drinks at breakfast and evening meals for some reason we were constantly overlooked, maybe the way to get attention is to tip first, we were a party of 4 ladies and not pushy rather go get our own coffee after meal than make a fuss. Maybe a good idea for this resort is to offer 2 alacart a week not 3 then everyone would get a fair chance, food was good always found something different I am a fussy eater. Bar staff fantastic very happy and friendly. Shows what you could see of them were good needs to have stage so people at back get a good view and enjoy to fullest. Rooms good although didnt get what requested even though followed up with email in the hopes of getting ground floor not a chance, beds really comfortable and nice clean. Pools kept nice clean, beach fabulous hard to get shade, lots chairs at pool and beach. On the whole nothing stands out, but nothing bad either. Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Cofresi Palm Beach Resort - Puerto Plata

The people at this resort are very friendly and helpful. The food was good. There are many stairs here for getting around and this is one of the negative things about this resort. There’s too much walking and climbing up and down the stairs. I had sore legs after only two days. You can take a shuttle van to save all the walking in this large resort. The beach was not good as there were bad smells coming from the sewers right onto the beach. This was most unhealthy for visitors coming to  [... read more]stay at this resort. I only went swimming once in the ocean as there was a huge amount of sea weed that covered me when trying to swim and it stayed on me until I came out of the water. I would suggest getting some of the workers to clean up the beach to make it more inviting for visitors to your resort. I don’t think we’d come back because of the many stairs to climb and the poor beach conditions.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Absolutely Fantastic!!

We stayed here April 2 - 9, 2019. We had an excellent time. Our trip was booked through tripcentral, and the travel was effortless (Moncton to Toronto to POP). The resort was not the largest, but amazing in all areas. Great food, room, stocked fridge, pool, beach, miles of beach to walk on, good snorkeling, grounds were meticulous, our room attendant (Lydia) did an amazing job, and she was very friendly. The buffet and dining room staff were excellent, as were all the staff we came into  [... read more]contact with. Very friendly bunch. The resort is a few minute walk to a local mall, and the mall has about 50 interesting stores with decent prices. If your adventurous, you could do what we did; walk to the main road, take the public bus (beat up minivans with no side doors - $1 pp each way) to downtown. There is a store called Jumbo, which is like a dominican walmart...only much cleaner and organized than our walmarts. The local bus will drop you right beside it (they pronounce it Yumbo). We were extremely satisfied with this resort, and we will definitely consider going back again.

Food was good lots of choices to choose from, Hotel was clean and nice view. Lots of entertainment and sports which I enjoyed for example tennis and volleyball and variety of drinks at the bars. Evening shows were nice especially Dominican shows and live music near the theatre.
