Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Spectacular Service

The rooms were wonderful , spacious and modern. Decor was stylish and appealing. Ease of getting a cool drink was amazing because there was a cafe or bar close at hand!! This was defintely my best resort experience in terms of accommodation and service. Loved it!!!!

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Becoming ordinary

When we arrived the air conditioner wasn't working and there was water on the floor. A good thing they put a towel down to absorb the water. We called for service and it was fixed within a few hours. We have been here 3 times previous this was the first bad experience we have had. They have made some changes now Coba and Tulum are their lower class resort and they are making Akumal and Sian Ka'an their Luxury Resort. So staying at Coba you can no longer go to Akumal or Sian Ka'an beach bar or be [... read more]ach area. The internet that was provided was 1 hour per day, but once you accessed it the hour started and expired 60 minutes later even if you stopped access. The food was great, no issues, the room was well cleaned, and staff is friendly. The beach was cared for daily, as well as the pool.

Tesoro Ixtapa: deffinitely Sunny.

small resort; good staff. over all ok (was "supposed" to be a 4 star), we had a good time, but the beds were not comfortable.. by the way we travelled in Feb 2014. pros: weather - sun all the way thru; good food; good entertainment program; Cons: beds not so comfortable; average beach not good for swimming;

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Relaxing Holiday w/ amazing food/drinks

We just returned from the Barceló Maya Beach. Travelled with 4 adults and a 9 month old. The hotel recently went though major renovations as everything looked new. BOOKED: Krysti Coronios helped us. She was absolutely amazing and went above AND beyond my expectations. Will be calling her again and recommend her service. (Thank you again!!) BEACH: Gorgeous beach. The area is experiencing a MAJOR SEA WEED issue. We were assured the staff cleans this regularly. NOT the case. As the fresh stuff comes in you can see the other older piles that have shriveled up and clearly were lying around for days. Once you get past the first couple of meters the ocean is super clean and nice. So it’s a small inconvenience BUT not a huge problem. Bring water shoes. ROOM: We stuck with a standard room and I am glad we did as there are no ocean views here; just pool views with a sliver of an ocean from a distance. Unless you are planning on spending a lot of time in your room, save you money. The water pressure is amazing, bath tubs are standard with two shower heads and the plumbing works perfectly. The king size bed, in an actual king size (not 2 beds put together). Room equipped with a flat screen TV and a mini fridge with various coke products, nuts and beer (replenished daily. DAY ENTERTAINMENT: Surf riding lessons are available for $15-20 US per hour. Super fun. Your muscles will be hurting the next day. Husband wiped out bad and got whip lash. Be careful but try it. Kayaks, paddle boarding, catamarans are free just need to get a time slot (open until 4:30pm). They have a dolphin pool. Same prices as everywhere else to swim with the dolphins, but you don’t lose a day commuting as the pool is within the Barcelo complex. NIGHT ENTERTAINMENT: There are 2 theaters super close to each other. If you don't like what one has, just walk over to the other. There are 2 clubs. Jaguar and One. Both are huge and had very little people dancing in there, but were super nice. FOOD: Seriously amazing. If you are a huge sea food person, they have a sea food night with full size lobsters and lobster tails - all you can eat. Went to the Mayan many times, never seen this at the buffet. Needless to say, don't book a la carte on sea food night! Tokyo A La Carte = amazing. La Fuente A La Carte = great. Mecico Lindo A La Carte =to die for Steak House A La Carte =ok. For an additional $20 US/person you can use the restaurants at the Palace. Make a reservation at the Brasserie (French restaurant). Won't regret it!! Breakfast and Lunch Buffet were the same every day. Huge selection, but food was just ok. MALL: Yup, they have a huge mall with free wi-fii from 10am-noon. Lots of shops from bikinis, to bath bombs, trinkets and everything else you can think of. They have the same trinkets at the airport, but for ½ the price so purchase here. Riu Cancun: This hotel is perfect!

We just come back from 7 days allinclusive stay at Riu Cancun (September 2015) and this hotel is perfect :-) Newly renovated, clean and modern with a breathtaking oceanview (on the 8th floor) on the white sandy beaches, four oceanview pools, four restaurant and two buffets, excellent food, drinks, four elevators, nice peoples everywhere, serving drinks on the beach. Secrets Playa Mujeres: Great resort for adult groups

We arrived Sept 5-12/15 as a group of 12. We had a 35 minute ride from the airport and were greeted with a cool towel and champagne. We then had to wait for check in which took 45 minutes. Not sure why check in so complicated and time consuming. Their was only one other couple checking in at the time. They appeared overwhelmed and not happy. We were the only couple who didn't get their requested building and floor. I was the organizer of the trip and had previously been to Secrets Capri, Secrets Maroma and Secrets Huatulco . We were so disappointed. We had building 2-looking out over the construction site. Not a great reward for a repeating customer. After discussions with the front desk and finally a manager we were checked into building 4 first floor to be promised a room change on the Wed.to building 3-4'th floor. This did happen but I still believe it could have been avoided. For the most part this is a beautiful resort with a different layout. Once the plant life matures it will be beautiful. We didn't mind the shuttles especially as we had a very warm week and the transportation to the restaurants, sports bar, doctor etc was appreciated. You never had to wait and the drivers always pleasant. Travelling with a larger group some resorts will not accommodate requests to dine together such as the Excellance .. Secrets has no problem with setting up tables even if it was in groups of 6 beside each other. There is no reservations required. We had a great time at Portofino, Bordeaux, Japanese Himitsu- hibachi, Oceana. Yes, long pants are required but that happens at any 5 * adults only we have experienced and we have been to many. The one thing that has been mentioned in other reviews is the lack of air conditioning and or no fans in the out door venues like Oceana and Sea Side Grill. We had an exceptionally warm week however that needs to be addressed. Yes their are mosquitoes but the resort has spray available at the front lobby if requested and the restaurants also have it for your use. The service was always great and although the food varied in quality we all enjoyed our meals. For a casual lunch we went to the Bare foot Grill or the BBQ at the beach. Casual dress code. If you wanted variety the Market Cafe buffet was a great option for lunch. Breakfast was also great-well thought out in the planning of the layout of the buffet so it looks smaller but still able to offer all that you would need. Thursday the buffet was open at night for dinner-surf and turf. What is missing is lobster. It wasn't available at any restaurant which is a first for us at any 5* adults only. That was disappointing. Nice touch at Secrets is the Coco Café for coffees and desserts-they change through out the day. Staff very friendly. Perhaps adding an ice cream venue would be appreciated although one day they did have a portable popsicle station available. We never had a problem finding chairs at the pool or at the beach. Plenty of towels but no place to put used towels. The beach offered a breeze. The sea weed was removed quickly each morning. It was never an issue getting into the warm ocean. The one area that could be addressed here is washrooms being closer. You have to walk back to the pool area so plan ahead. Bars-All I can say on that is most of the bar tenders are pleasant. However unless you watch them make your drink you will get the cheaper liquors. We did enjoy the wines offered and attended the wine tasting. We did hope to try the Mexican wines that they have offered at other Secrets with this activity but they focused more on how to drink the wines and we tasted the house wines. The nice thing we enjoyed was no flimsy cups-the glasses matched your drinks. We did many of the activities. The activity team is very up beat and engaging whether pool side or at the beach. We went on the bicycle tour. Although very hot by 10:00 am in the morning. It was fun and informative. It would be great if it was at 9:00-slightly cooler. It was disappointing that they were not available for personal use after the tour as we have experienced at other resorts. We also as a group played Bingo-enjoyable with the exception when it was organized by we believe Diana-who is called Sergeant-painting on our arms etc. if we didn't obey the rules of the games. It wasn't fun. Some guests left the activity as they didn't like the atmosphere. It felt very demeaning. My husband and another friend went diving twice through out the week-both two tank dives. They went with Solo Buceo-they have a kiosk on the beach, My husband has dove with this organization in the past and feels it is one of the better dive operators in the Cancun area.. The gym was clean, new equipment and great hours. They do have a functional trainer which was appreciated but unusual for a resort gym. Victor was always available to help you with your work out. There has been allot of mention about falls and tripping-more so at night. It is an issue as there are allot of elevations to watch for that are not well marked. I was trying to be careful due to warnings on trip advisor but I missed an elevation change at the ramp going into the Portofina restaurant and the 2 " wood deck and I fell. I ended up seeing the Doctor for stitches and as soon as I got home I was in emergency for a broken foot I didn't address the foot with the Doctor as I thought I had just sprained it. The Doctora Cecelia is available on site 24 hours a day. That is a great feature of this resort. We wish her well in her future. Thank you for your care. During the dinner at Portofino my friends watched 8 others also fall or stumble in the same area over a 2 hour period. I wasn't alone as we saw a girl with a broken arm and another in a wheelchair with a leg injury. Better lighting or finishing the ramps so they slope on the sides not just drop off would really help. As a group we had a great time. Would I go back-probable not as their are so many other resorts to go to. We had many places at this hotel to gather and relax with a drink after dinner. Our favorite was the Piano bar. We didn't get to any night entertainment as we ate later in the evening. There was live music through out the day and into the evening that was appreciated. This resort is open to groups-if you are looking for a couples format this Secrets might not be a good match for you. Also until the Dreams resort is built behind building 2 you may want to request another building. The construction will only increase as presently they are preparing the site and they do have large lights recently erected around the construction site that suggest working through after sunset might happen soon. Go and enjoy. It is still a great venue that will get better with time.

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Incredible!

The grounds were stunning and so well kept...the people - The nicest I've ever had on a vacation ever! The food was a nice variety and sea life incredible - I've never snorkeled like this before in my life. Absolutely stunning!

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Awesome resort!!

The ride to the hotel only 30 mins! The hotel is very clean, excellent entertainment, everyone so nice and helpful. Kids loved the Kids Club , they had video games, arts and crafts, games, Max and Ruby, pool games, etc. Ricardo and Roberto at the Kid's pool were awesome!! The food is AMAZING!! The only thing that was disappointing was the beach- SEAWEED everywhere, cannot go in the water at all. Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Best Resort Ever

Wonderful staff! Beautiful beaches, bars, and pools. This resort has all the facilities you will need. Food was pretty good too. Smoking areas are really nice if you are a smoker. I can't really complain about anything except for the doctor at their hospital! She was not very helpful. Also, if you want to buy gifts, the gift shop at the hotel is much cheaper than the street sellers.

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Maya Suites: Perfect getaway

Everything about the Iberostar Paraiso Maya is fantastic. Great, large and fresh clean rooms, incredible food, amazing beaches and stunning pools, but the best is the attentive and dedicated staff. Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Great trip

Our family vacation to Riviera Maya was a good trip overall. Stayed at Barcelo Maya Beach- fantastic staff from reception to everyone we encountered! Everyone tried their best, thank you all! Facility: room - building uxmal room 3314 very average, bathroom needs an upgrade sheets always had some type of stain. Barcy club- no activities really for children from 7-12, no teen activities. There was no entertainment for kids between 7 and 12 yrs of age. Pirate Island- fun for a day be very careful a [... read more]s kids can get hurt on the slides - bumping the back of their head while lying down and sliding through some of the slides. If planning to try surfing there be aware of the great water pressure- it will throw you up against the padded walls, and it will hurt! Restaurants: tried Mexican - not thoroughly impressed we went to Xel Ha natural water park and had the most impressive Mexican food there! This is a fantastic excursion, I booked it directly with the park! Spanish was great - especially with the Spanish coffee demonstration for us! French- fantastic Italian- not impressed at all Japanese- very entertaining and good food The grounds are very well kept, resort collection is huge, and makes for a good walk to burn all the calories! however there is no sense of connection to the place or people. Food: much variety, good quality however we were not impressed with the deserts! Beach: even though the beach front of the Beach Resort is the best, at the time of our visit the beach was unsettled with lots of seaweed and a mushy and smelly ocean front (for a few 1-2 meters in) once in it was clear and more pleasant. Other: Coupons: We did not see the value in them at all! Mosquitos: a real problem so make sure to have mosquito repellants with you. Mall - over rated and expensive, the Mexican mall further down is much more authentic and offers better deals. overall at the time of our visit we felt this resort had a great potential of being a 5star but felt it was 3.5 at best due to room accommodations and lack of entertainment.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Great vacation and great resort!

The hotel is awesome! Great food and service! I totally enjoyed my stay and would like to return one day. The beach was a bit small and shore was full of sea weeds, but pools were fantastic, so no complains.

Selection Riviera Cancun: Sensatori Azul Great time.Great staff.Great food.

Just returned after a fantastic one week stay. The resort is just the right size, keeping everything an easy walk to where ever you want to go. Food at Sienna, Le Chique, and Tapas were our hands down favourites. The resort is well maintained, with staff always working on touch ups, the fantastic gardens, or even tidying up after those guests that leave their mess everywhere. We were at this resort just over five years ago, and it really hasn't aged. This was our third time at a Karisma resort,  [... read more]and I must say the staff at the Sensatori Azul are even more attentive then previously. Need something? They are there to help. Special praise to Filemon who supplied us with drinks and snacks all day long, Lorena and Malaka who are two very special entertainment team members, Miguel at the front door, and Heidi who not only checked in all six of us (three couples), but took the time to walk us around the grounds and pointed out the key areas. More incredible, Heidi recognized members from our party by surname a few days into our stay. There is one issue, so a word of caution, and please don't let this sway your decision in choosing the Sensatori. Especially as the issue can be easily dealt with, just by saying no. The issue? Premier or prestige membership selling, as it really is timeshare. The selling process may start with your concierge. Of course, if you want to spend 90 minutes of your time providing what I consider private/personal information and listening to a smooth sales pitch, well then, what you decide to do is your choice. If you are wondering, we said no thanks, though not until after a smooth initial pitch. If you can, ask for an upper floor room, or the adult section, though that may cost more to be in the adult part. Overall, we all had a great time, enjoyed our favourite drinks, and never left the table hungry!

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Gains and losses

There is less emphasis on local culture and ecology now that the renovations have completed. The resort has the same feeling as your average Club Med (emphasis on fun, consumerism). I miss the old resort.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Good resort

Nice resort with a good variety of food, nice a la carte restaurants and great service. However I wouldn't give this place a five star because the nightly entertainment was the worst of any resort I've ever been too. The main location of the theatre is brutal and even if you're are lucky enough to get a decent seat you still can barely see the show. But overall a good experience... well minus all the mosquitos that is.

Paradisus Cancun: Wonderful stay

I just got back from a 5-day, all-inclusive stay at the Paradisus Cancun and I already want to go back. The resort was lovely and the staff was super friendly. The room was clean and well-maintained. The food was incredible!! The pool was big enough for all the different parties at the resort. Great resort and they really know how to pamper you!

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Second Time Around

Second time at this resort. Great location and amenities but a bit disappointed at the buffet food this time around. Relaxed and fun time for the whole family! We are already planing for the next trip, will try the Lindo in the beginning of next year.

Moon Palace Cancun: Good Resort with excellent facilities

Resort is in good shape with excellent facilities, clean and staff are all very accommodating and friendly, except for minor smell of sea water because of seaweeds thus swimming is basically limited to pool area only.

Riu Santa Fe: Great Resort

Very clean resort, nice rooms food was ok a lot to choose from. Barbq by the pool was excellent. Great entertainment staff. Spent most of our time at infinity pool. Staff does an excellent job shutting down party pools early to get drunks out and back to room. They are also quick in stopping rowdiness late at night. Would go back again. Sunwing very comfortable flight and champagne toast was a bonus you don't get anywhere else.

Riu Palace Pacifico: This is an amazing resort.

Excellent room , Master Suite 8066- great view for sunrise and sunset pictures. Woderfull staff, great food, daily and nightly entertainment. Great pool and beach. Spent two weeks with family. Will definitely go back for a 3rd time.
