Barcelo Maya Colonial: Absolutely loved it!!

Barceló Colonial was excellent!!! The resort is super clean, loved all the pools and the beach. The employees are so helpful and friendly. The food in the buffets were great, something for everyone and the Ala Cartes were excellent. The theatres provided fun entertainment in the evenings. Our rooms were great and kept very nice!! Beautiful resort and so much to there. Will definitely be visiting again.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Not as advertised

This resort was probably a great place to vacation when it was built in 2006 but today it was pretty dissapointing. Starting with the good. The food was pretty good, especially the specialty restaurants. The staff were very nice and the grounds were beautiful. There were ample shuttles from the lobby to the beach/ pool areas. Now the not so good. The beach is unswimmable. Some years ago the beach was destroyed, probably due to heavy weather, so currently there are large sandbags and some dock st [... read more]ructures offshore. The result is the sargassum weeds become trapped in the swimming area and make for a brown murky mess. Most of the beaches in this area are the same. As for the rest of the resort, it's pretty tired and needs more than maintenance. Depending where you are walking on the resort there is an occasional wiff of sewage. The room needs help as well, tarnished mirrors, worn fixtures, sloppy patch jobs and paint on the walls and ceiling. We made many calls to the front desk for towels, water, a working clock radio, missing patio chair, etc. Having stayed at a few all inclusives over the years, getting loung chairs around the pools is always a challenge. But at Bluebay there are clearly nowhere near enough and plenty of empty space. We did not feel like getting up at 6am (literally) to "claim" the few loungers by placing towels on them so we chose to carry our patio chairs to the pool every day. Had we done our due diligence and read more reviews online we would not have chosen this resort.

Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun: Great resort

Very nice , definitely worth it. The check in process was the only thing I can complain about, they didn’t listen to our requests and had us moving around the next day even though it wasn’t still what we wanted.

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Disappointed in Accomodation … I would return but to a different hotel in the resort!

This is my second visit to this resort, the last time being in 2002. Naturally it has grown ++. We thought we were in heaven then & we’re very excited to return! We were assigned rooms in what seemed to be the oldest hotel in the resort - Barcelo Beach Hotel. Our room smelled of mold (visible in the bathroom on the bath mat, shower walls & shower ceiling. The a/c unit was extremely loud as well. We asked daily x 3 days to be moved to a different room, while being told we were “on the list” t [... read more]hen finally that we would not be moved as the hotel was “full”. Upon speaking with a manager, we were assigned another room - on the same floor as my parents & with a King bed, as originally requested … we were moved to a different floor, with 2 queen beds! The food was not as good as in the other hotels in the resort. The pool was lovely, the serving staff were great, the beach was wonderful.

Grand Oasis Riviera: Tulum

Hello. Let me start from thank you for the opportunity to share my thoughts about the trip. When I was booking a trip I was told that there would be environmental charges for 1.38 us per night, and that would come approximately 10us dollars. When we got to the hotel we were charged 78us. Almost 8 times more. Isn’t it nice? During our stay we tried desperately find sunwing representative. We never found anyone. Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Great stay at Blue Bay!

We really liked the resort. It has two tennis courts surrounded by trees (shade + no wind) so we played tennis almost every day. They have fun entertainment in the afternoon and dancing on the beach in the evening. The resort is a bit ran down but overall clean. The drinks are fantastic and the food quite good. The only thing that I would complain about is the Air Canada rep. He was not there when he was supposed to be there. He gave us his cell phone number but when we called we got "phone num [... read more]ber no longer valid". There was no information on the bus back to the airport so we had to figure it out ourselves and then the bus was 40 min late. So a long wait. Also, resort management, please buy more beach chairs! They are not that expensive but if you purchased another 50 or so, people would not have to book the chairs at 6:00 am.

Catalonia Yucatan: Great resort indeed !

Great value for money ! I really appreciate the resort grounds ,food and service. Excellent food ! And the fresh fruits delicious - I couldn’t stop eating ?! All the service personal was great , too bad I remember just Esther name , server in El Mercado restaurant - hard worker , great customer skills ! And , yes I have to mention here , the quality of the shows - very entertaining ! Great shows! Gratia a todos ! Gratias Catalonia Yucatan !

Royal Hideaway Playacar: Beautiful beach but some challenges

Beach was awesome however playing chair reserve every morning became tiresome. Hotel needs to invest in more chairs. Our concierge was never available and when he was he was very rude. Crowd was senior in ages and very snobby. A la carte restaurants were ok but not ideal for people with allergies or food sensitivities. Rooms are good but tired looking. Beds super comfortable. Not our cup of tea but made the most of it. Room service was great Check in was ridiculous. 2 hours. Not a good first impression. Will not be returning.

Dreams Jade Resort and Spa: Great family resort

This resort exceeded our expectations. While it is a 4-star resort, we have found it better value for money than some of the 5 stars we’ve experienced in Mexico. Recommended for families, couples will likely prefer adults only.

Dreams Sapphire Resort and Spa: Great Vacation Resort

Our family had a great vacation at Dreams Sapphire. The resort was great on all fronts. The resort is not huge, but there are sufficient restaurants for a week and lots of activities during the day and evening. The food was good and I appreciated not having to make reservations for dinner - the teppanyaki table was the only one that allows reservations and was definitely worth it. Rooms and public areas were very clean. Perhaps the best thing was the staff - they were all very friendly and [... read more] helpful. The only downside was that people got up early to reserve pool / beach chairs and trying to get towels - they seemed to be in short supply in the mornings. We learned to get fresh ones every afternoon for the next day.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: It all worked out in the end.

I’ll leave my hotel review for trip advisor and leave this space for Trip Central/Air Transat. Either the hotel, Transat or TC, tried to downgrade us to the Tropical section of the hotel. It took a lot of phone calls to all 3 entities, but I managed to get us back in to Maya Beach. Our rooms weren’t next to each other after the switchback, but that was a small comprise to get back to the section that we paid more for. It’s common in Trip Advisor reviews for people to get downgraded from Beach/Ca [... read more]ribe to Tropical/Colonial. This is my second time flying club class with Air Transat and it will be my last. Their seats have an odd, (and hard) curvature to them that are painful to sit for hours. And meal options are non-existant. Breakfast was a ham and cheese croissant or scrambled eggs. I tried to find a vegan option online and even called in advance to arrange a vegan meal but it’s just not possible. Air Canada will accommodate you. Coming home they offered a pasta dish stuffed with squash but no way to get it without cheese. Air Transat planes need a refurbish, and to update their meals. Considering the price of club class, it’s a bit of a joke.

Hyatt Vivid Playa Del Carmen: Just like paradise

We had an amazing stay at Hilton PDC. The staff is absolutely amazing. They are friendly, courteous, helpful & certainly pay attention to detail. The grounds are immaculate & so beautiful. The food choices are endless and so good. The rooms are extremely clean and well maintained. I would highly recommend this resort.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Alot of room for improvement

Not very clean rooms, long lineups for food, overcrowded feeling, same food every day. There's no beach left, disappointing. The Nexus rep for westjet was rude and completely unhelpful, couldn't be bothered. Would not book again

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Fantastic

We enjoyed everything about this resort. The staff looked after us always. The food was very good. We will return for sure. The night entertainment was great and we loved the silent disco. We felt very safe,as the security was very good.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Best resort I have stayed at!

The staff was amazing! The rooms and the hotel were so incredibly clean I feel like that's all they did all day was clean it. The abundance of restaurants to choose from was fantastic. I can't say enough about this resort. Usually I stay at a resort and then look for things in the local area to do but at this Resort there were so much to do on it that I only left for one day.

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Nice resort

Grounds are nice well taken care of Rooms need some updating outlets need to be working Light fixtures need to be clean Vents need to be dusted Buffay lotta times of food was not very hot and basically the same thing over and over the pool entertainment was excellent. etc. Carla Pepe Kevin DJ they were all great very respectful and very nice.Etc .

Dreams Jade Resort and Spa: Beautiful resort

Beautiful resort and grounds, super clean, great and helpful staff, Restaurants were very good but not great. Fantastic room service. I would recommend to stay in Preferred club at this resort as you will have an Adults only pool with a lot less noise and a sit down restaurant with full service for breakfast. The shows were not bad and the Fire show was excellent.. This resort has a very limited beach so better for pool people. Dreams Natura Resort and Spa: Extremely Disappointed

We were excited about staying at the Four Diamond Hyatt property and we spent considerable time choosing what we at the time thought would be an outstanding vacation. We could not have been more wrong. The room itself was beautiful; however, the housekeeping was so sporadic that I called the concierge to inquire whether or not the rooms were maintained daily. The food is not 5 star by any stretch of the imagination especially at the buffet. Very limited selection and poor execution. The rest [... read more]aurants were slightly better, if small portions, cold appetizers and small lukewarm entrées are considered “better”. The preferred club food sits out for hours and rarely replenished. Speaking of the preferred club, I would suggest that you do not spend the extra money if you’re travelling with small children. I struggled to see the benefits of it. We received far better service at the hotel concierge than we did in the preferred club. Apathetic service from the desk staff at best. They couldn’t care less about smiling or being pleasant. My wife asked the PC concierge about doing something special for my birthday. She was told the only thing they will do is sing happy birthday at the Italian restaurant, only to find a beautiful set up by the pool for someone else’s birthday. I have pics. Two of the three waterslides were out of service the entire trip. A large section of the pool deck was under construction as well. If we didn’t get up by 6am to put towels down on the chairs we wouldn’t have a place to sit for the remainder of the day. No families allowed in the preferred club area despite the construction. On two separate days, despite a huge section of the pool deck being closed off for repairs, they shut down most of the remaining space for a party and a wedding. Shocking. I had read that the hotel was a “wedding factory” but dismissed these reviews as overreactions. I was wrong. Weddings were constant and the noise was unbearable. The music echoed throughout our room to the point where we had to raise our voices to hear each other. Getting our 6 year old to sleep before 10pm was impossible. On our last night we had the unfortunate experience to have wedding guests screaming profanities into the DJs mic. Yes I complained. No, they didn’t do anything. We were also disappointed to find out that the hotel does not offer a shuttle service to Playa or Cancún, unless you want to spend time in a tequila shop and jewellery store. Don’t get sucked into the “information session” about the vacation club. It’s not an hour and it is a high pressure full court pitch despite what they say. We made the best of it and tried to stay positive, but we would never go back to this resort or any other Dream property.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Worth the Visit

The pools and atmosphere were incredible - the entertainment team truly makes your stay memorable. The beach was beautiful especially at sunrise and the pools were very well maintained. The bars were able to meet everyone's needs- although a little under staffed. Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Fantastic Resort

Great hotel. Very well maintained by a friendly staff, with very nice rooms. The grounds were spectacular with peacocks, flamingos, iguanas and coatis roaming around and entertaining us. The a la Carte restaurant food was great and the buffet was well above average. Lots of pool side entertainment and a great beach as well. You will stay in shape walking as it is a long way from lobby to pools and beach.
