Tryp Cayo Coco: Big Changes

Big Changes....are NEEDED! This resort stinks lkke a sewer because of the fetid ditch running under its lobby. This needs to addressed even the buffet reaks like a sewer. The 1st day was not bad but theb the locals moved in.....the real guests(Canadians) got garbage for food and any real liquor came off the shelves. Beer shortages everyday the locals were there. Lots of " we're sorry senor " but nothing to address the issues. Not ever returning to this resort. Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Good vibes by the ocean

We had a very relaxing holiday at this hotel. The service is excellent. A big THANK YOU to all the people that made our vacation special. We have been to Cuba 11 times and we love this kind of place. Not too big and not too complicated. Awesome entertainment team. We really enjoyed Cuban Day Barbecue in between the pool and beach at lunch and the Barbecue dinner at the pool side with saxophone player plus 3 nights à la carte restaurant (Cuban, Italian and Spanish). Hotel Playa Paraiso: I would never return, even if it was free

This was my first trip to Cuba and want to start by saying the beach was absolutely beautiful. The only good thing about this resort. The food was horrendous (and completely unavailable at times). Cockroaches in the buffet and most food was inedible. The service for the most part was non-existent. I was told "no lady" multiple times a day. At one point there was no bread at the snack bar which was the only area open for food. Stale cold fries were the only food in the resort for 3 hours. As for  [... read more]the drinks, we were welcomed our first night with warm mix and beer. Asked for tequila and was told no lady. Our room was dingy to say the least. Only a top and bottom sheet were provided. Our toilet wouldn't flush properly and it was never fixed. Housekeeping needed to be chased down for water almost daily. The shower doubles as a bath tub and the three foot step down made it difficult to get in and out. The shower was like a pressure washer. The nightly entertainment was sub par most evenings. By the end of the week I was accustomed to being told no and not at all surprised when I was. I would give this resort 1 star and that was only for the beautiful beach. Most people that I spoke to at the resort shared our opinion, that it was dirty, poorly run and unsanitary. I wouldn't return even if it was free.

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: New Resort with marvelous Beach!

The hotel has very friendly and helpful staff. The beach surrounding the hotel stretches along the coastline in both directions. The rooms are very spacious, I had the junior suite and it had a large bath area, with separate tub and shower, two double beds, table/2chairs, comfy chair and ottoman, small deck facing ocean. There are 3 specialty restaurants, all good. Buffet restaurant and a 24 hr snack bar with great pizzas anytime, and good lattes. Melia Cayo Coco: Nice small resort - April 2022

The resort is small, older and has nice foliage, and is well maintained. The staff is friendly, polite, and provided good service. Food was OK for Cuba. Rooms are kept clean, and the air conditioner worked well, but the room decor is a bit dated. Beach is beautiful and kept clean with a sufficient # of loungers available. Some experiences, the weather was a bit on the windy side for days sand blowing and choppy waves, no rain. Experienced two short power outages (30-45mins) around dinner time. A couple of times, going to the buffet later for breakfast (30 mins before close) staff wouldn't provide any service as they were too busy cleaning up. A minor issue was a shortage of Pina Coladas and draft beer at times, substituted with can beers. In early April, spots around the Lagoon rooms were starting to fill in with plant/algae growth in a few spots had a bit of an odor. April is getting into the early summer weather in Cuba, which is very hot (30+ degrees) On the whole, This being our first time back in Cuba in a couple of years I'm a bit torn on the cost and value of going to this resort (at a premium) compared to other Melia-operated resorts in other parts of Cuba.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: The beach

The only reason yo go to this hotel is the beach . It has one of the best beaches in cuba other than that the rooms are falling apart , the buffet is too small for the amount of people . My bed was missing a leg -5 unsuccessfull attempts to fix it,safe broken . Room keys would only work once then they were toast . Staff were great but they are great everywhere in cuba

Gran Muthu Imperial: Still needs some improvement

The resort itself was beautiful and the staff very friendly. We were alarmed at the lack of hand sanitizer throughout the resort. Soap dispensers were empty in many washrooms too. Food at the buffet was limited, but the ala carte restaurants were good. Beach was very disappointing. We had to walk a fair distance to get to the sandy part of the beach as the ocean directly behind the resort was rocky.

Melia Costa Rey: Awesome, can’t wait to go back - Two thumbs up

Everything was amazing, food was first class, staff was perfect, Grounds were well kept. Ocean was warm. Pools were clean. Entertainment was first class. The only stain on an otherwise perfect vacation was that I dealt with Sunwing and will never do so again. I had to make two changes and was charged both times. One agent told me I had to buy more insurance and another said I didn’t. Free cancellation waiver is a joke. I paid $262 for the first cancellation and $149 for the second [... read more]. Never again will I use Sunwing and I will warn my friends and family not to use them either.

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Great Spot

We just came back from a week's vacation at this new resort. The rooms were spacious, very comfortable and well appointed. This resort is a great size if you're looking for an adults only quiet vacation on a small resort. The layout is perfect with all buildings within a short stroll to each other and to the beach. Most of the staff are quite young and are still learning some of the intricacies of the hospitality industry but are VERY polite and eager to please. They all wear masks and still pr [... read more]actice sound COVID protocols. We enjoyed the food and all the a-la-carte restaurants. We're already talking of a return trip.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: First trip post COVID

I was pleasantly surprised as I kind of expected less. After hotel closure for almost two years and very little tourist traffic, everything was operational, and safety precautions taken to very reasonable extend (not overdone, not underdone). We had a good stay, perfect weather and water and beach and Pina Colada. Works for me.

Gran Muthu Imperial: I loved it!!

Clean, big rooms with nice pool, garden or ocean view, it doesn’t matter where you are on the resort sunrise and sunset is beautiful. Everything you need is near by so no need to walk lots except to get to the beach where it’s a five min. walk All the bars on the resort are awesome they make the best drinks…. over all I had a great experience at gran muthu imperial! Gran Muthu Rainbow Cayo Guillermo: great potential

The resort is beautiful, the grounds, beach and pool. The Cuban staff are amazing, friendly and helpful. They have no issue with the LGBT guests. As a resort devoted to LGTB, it is larger than I expected. Most of the guests were LGBT, there were also straight couples. It was very open and we felt very comfortable being a gay couple. Occupancy was low which I hope was due to Covid. On the less positive side, the hotel manager told us they consider this a party hotel. Unfortunately, this meant very loud parties at the pool until very late, up to about 1 AM. The volume of the music was accompanied by large flashing theatre lights. As the majority of the rooms are overlooking the pool you were subjected to the noise and lights which prevented sleep. There are other areas of the resort that would be much better for these parties. You can see this was a major issue on many of the reviews. We did complain and hopefully they will soon see this as a problem. If you want late night parties, this is your place. To be able to go to a resort this large and be completely open and at ease, this is a great resort. As it is very new, it has some room too to improve, but these are minor overall. Overall, I would recommend this resort.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: the beach is amazing

The beach was amazing, clear water, perfect for swimming. Cons: bad drinking water, have to ask for a bottle of water each time and explain why you drank the bottle of water which was given to you yesterday. And it was one bottle for three people. Dirty dishes, some were not even when with traces of food leftovers. Rooms are not cleaned, only Hart shaped towels. Wifi is only at the lobby and you have to request your access every day

Gran Muthu Imperial: Expected way better

Good: Beach, views from room, coffee and good service for the most part. A little strip mall just outside the resort to buy your souvenir's. Bad: Food, terrible, no bread, no bacon, no toaster to even toast your own. At the reservation restaurants: what was on the menu was not what they had to offer guests. i.e., ordered chicken breast, got leg, wanted beef got lamb, chicken was cut so weird making it hard to eat due to bones at every bite. just horrible food, the worst I ever had in C [... read more]uba, many shortages of everything. ugly: resort permitted smokers to smoke literally everywhere, no enforcement even as people were eating at the snack bar, people smoking, vaping, even cigars. Dress code for restaurants not enforced either, said long pants, saw many with shorts and sandals. Never stocked the fridge unless we called, one day, no bottled water at all. I called and they promised to bring, they never did. I had to beg them for everything we needed. don't ever expect beer in your fridge, they will never provide this unless you demand it. once a guy brought water which I was missing, he handed me the bottle, I waited, he didn't offer the beer, he had it, I had to ask before he handed over two cans, maybe he wanted to keep for himself. I don't appreciate the smell of insecticide every time I went to main buffet in morning. I have been to many resorts and never experienced this or it was done very discreetly, bugs(cockroaches) falling all over the place being swept up by servers. disgusting!!! This so turned me off of ever eating there again so I stuck to the outside snack bar for literally everything. this resort is NOT a ***** star, at most 1.5. I will never return to Cuba again. This was my third time and, I wasn't excepting miracles, it is Cuba after all , but I was hoping for what the other two resorts provided me , maybe I should have lowered my standards., I know Covid has affected all resorts in some degree.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Good times but a few hiccups!

As I’d previously read prior to going, the staff are generally very kind and helpful! The food was great and the views amazing! The few hiccups we encountered were that our room keys demagnetized EVERY day and randomly. As we were in building 9, it was a small trek to go grab new keys at all times of the day and night. The pool by the bar is quite gross and dirty. The nightly entertainment crew is fabulous and we enjoyed dancing afterwards with a DJ. The disco bar isn’t open and there was no [... read more] cave bar experience available on the Tuesday we were there. They did run out of certain foods fairly quickly and the buffet is only open during very specific times. Grab some snacks if you think you’ll be hungry during the times they aren’t open. The à la carte dinners were great and we had one offered for every evening we were there. They also run out of certain alcohol such as vodka early in the day and don’t have mojitos :( Overall we had a good time!

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Enjoyed our stay !

The beaches and the people of Cuba have always been our draw to that country. Although the buffet was small, it was always full of fresh foods and was delicious. The variety was not immense but the staff and service always made you feel at home. There was always a stir fry bar, a beef/ chicken/ pork bar, a pasta bar and another one full of cooked items. Melia Cayo Coco: Melia in Cayo Coco

If you want a quite resort withoutlarge crowds then this is the place. Our stay was 18 to 25 March 22. Weather was excellent, beach is among the best anywhere south. Even with limited personel on site (due to covid) service was excellent and food was equaly good. Like most places they ahve had a challenging few years also coupled with supply chain issues, be patient and be happy your getting to travel!!! I heard they have a very hard time getting milk, if you can manage it bring bags of powdered milk & baby formula along with just about anything else one uses daily. Bring CDN & US cash as tips, don't bother with their Pesos..

Gran Muthu Imperial: Very friendly and full-served resort

The hotel was pretty nice. Change of towels and bed covers was not regular, but not a big issue! It is far from Havana to visit, but good by itself. Had one day tour to Murun city in neighborhood. It was excellent

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Lovely resort

The resort is beautiful, very clean and very well kept. The staff go out of their way to help you and make your stay as pleasant as possible. There are shuttle busses to take you down to the beach or the restaurants down the hill. Almost all rooms have an ocean view and most have balconies. The restaurants try very hard to have what you want, but from time to time, some things may be in short supply. I always found plenty of delicious food to eat.
