Roc Lagunas del Mar: Terrible Experience

The hotel is beautiful however most of the staff are horrible! We had to switch rooms 4 times due to leaks, room doors not locking, dirty beds, and putting us in a worse room then I originally booked. We had multiple things stolen from our room; such as underwear, bras, dresses, sunglasses, and headphones. When we talked to manegment they told us they couldn’t do anything about it. The food wasn’t the worst and the people at the buffe and snack bar were very nice and efficient. The one down side was when the chef at the meat station dropped his tongs that he used for the meat, picked it up from the ground, and continued to use it! Gross! The people at the lobby front desk were the worst of all! They tell you things just to get you to leave and talk to you with a horrible attitude! One of the ladies was even yelling and putting her hand in my boyfriends face is which is very unprofessional! In conclusion, do not go to this hotel unless you want your things stolen, have disrespectful staff, and terrible rooms. The only good thing was the beautiful beach but you could find that any where else in Cuba. I personally do not recommend this hotel for anyone.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: The staff were amazing at this resort !!!!

Getting there from YYZ : We flew out on May 4,2019. The original flight was for 615am but we were pushed back to 9am due to the closure of the Santa Clara airport in Cuba. We were re directed to land in Cayo Coco, Cuba. The transport to and from YYZ, provided by Red Carpet Car service was excellent. The 3 hour flight was uneventful....Thank You Air Transat. Upon landing in Cayo Coco : The promised 3 .5 hour transport to Caya Santa Maria was in fact a 6 hour bus ride on a bus with a broken bath [... read more]room. We had to stop 3 x for bathroom breaks. On the bus we were offered overpriced warm beer for purchase....when in fact this should have been offered free of charge. Luckily I had some Cuban pesos from a previous trip.....I bought ice cold cans of beer from shops, for half of the price offered on the bus, that we stopped at for our bathroom breaks. I could tell that the transport team was NOT happy about this....but hey, this is Cuba !!! The Royalton,Cayo Santa Maria : 12 hours after we were ORIGINALLY supposed to arrive....we finally arrived! The check in was smooth and painless.We were given room 0504 which was awesome. The room was close to every amenity. We were in fact treated like royalty by the Royalton staff for our entire stay. The grounds were breathtakingly beautiful!!! The beach was fantastic !!! The downsides : There were food shortages. Some days no pizza....other days no quesadillas, beef, chicken , bread etc. The house wines were sub par and this was forwarded to management and discussed on my Tripadvisor review also. We ordered some wines from the a la carte menus for some meals. Also, although the Royalton is only 5 years old....rooms need refreshing. In summary : The biggest turn off to this vacation was the lost 12 hour on Saturday May 4, 2019 .We arrived at the resort just in time to go to bed. Not the vacation we planned at all. Many folks complained out this and informed me that they would be seeking compensation from their various tour suppliers. eg Sunwing. Would I go to the Royalton again? For sure. I feel like we were treated like family. However....on the next visit I want to be on the beach shortly after 12 noon.

Grand Memories Santa Maria: sanctuary Success

We have been down 3x now and love the people love the service. We stay at the sanctuary grand memories. The hotel itself is getting tired . Need a refresh ,but the food is great for cuba ! The beach is like no other. the people are amazing! Wifi is available, the Butler's and bartenders are great the entertainment team is amazing. The Bartenders in the lobby Yordany and Yohandy are amazing and so sweet we will be going again next year

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Great Vacation

I went to Cuba with my 17 & 19 year old and stayed at Casa del Mar. We thought it was a great resort. Rooms were nice. Pools were great and the food was good. The service was incredible. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this resort and be going back again

Valentin Perla Blanca: Great Trip

We stayed here the second week of May, the weather was fantastic the whole week. The resort was lovely - clean, safe, AMAZING beach, and great amenities. The food was the best I’ve had in my 4 trips to Cuba (though you won’t regret bringing some good hot sauce). The rooms were a bit out of order - our shower didn’t work properly, many of the lights in the room were out, and despite tipping well, there were two days we didn’t receive mini bar or cleaning. For a great price (790$) we couldn’t have asked for more.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Swimmers Paradise

Just returned from a sunny, hot week at the Melia Cayo Santa Maria and found it a very well run resort and really have very view complaints. I had asked for and received an ocean view room on the 2nd floor near the beach which was clean, spacious and bright. I go mainly to enjoy the beach and swimming and was not disappointed, the water was truly amazing especially the last 3 days when the ocean was so calm. There were hundreds of colorful fish in shallow waters. I enjoy Cuba as I always feel safe and know the local people work hard to maintain a decent lifestyle for their families. The grounds on the resort are lovely and there was a chorus of bird songs in the morning on the way to the dining hall. The pools are clean and well maintained. I found there was some walking to do to get around which I did not mind but would possibly be hard for someone with mobility issues. The food was adequate, lots of fresh bread and pastry like treats... I enjoyed the restaurant down by the beach with a grill and found the food was well prepared and the service excellent. Sunwing flights and pick up times were right on. It was a lovely week.

Roc Lagunas del Mar: A Cuban Paradise

Beautiful grounds, pool & people. Room was great, mattresses could use an upgrade for sure but the rest was great! Lobby was wonderful, resort areas were clean and well kept..Most staff was helpful & friendly. Beach was amazing.Food was typical for what people expect for Cuba. Valentin Perla Blanca: Disappointed

Dining: Probably, the worst food selection I’ve had at a resort. For the first 2 days, there was no bread. So, the snack bar was serving hamburgers with no buns and as a side, it was banana chips. The snack bar serves chicken fingers normally, but these weren’t available all week. The snack bar is open for a la carte breakfast for privilege guests but did not have bacon or sausage and then closed down half way through our week for no reason. The buffet virtually had the same offerings ev [... read more]ery day. Salad consisted of cabbage and cucumber. I seen chicken once or twice in the week. There was pork and beef on most days but was tough. The worst part of the buffet and the snack bar was the disgusting amount of house flies. They were everywhere. You were continually swatting at your food to keep the flies off. The room was ok. AC worked fine. Twice I had to track the housekeeper down as she didn’t give me any facecloths. Having the fridge stocked was hit and miss as it would only get filled if I was in the room. Staff, for the most part were helpful. We ended up walking out of the French restaurant because the service was so bad. Lots of little things turned us off: snack bar running out of beer, running out of ice, juice, plastic cups. I feel bad for the staff because it seems as though the resort’s management does not understand how much inventory to keep on hand. All in all, it was very disappointing.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Good Resort!! Amazing beach!!

My husband and myself spent a week in May at the Valentin Perla Blanca. Great service, clean rooms, amazing ground and the most important is the amazing beach with the cristal clear water and white sand. The beach is huge and has lots of private areas. The resort is a bit too far from airport (it took 2 hours to get there because people on the bus from 3 different resorts and we were last). Please take some antihistamine pills with you in case you attacked by jellyfish. We did not see any jel [... read more]lyfish until last day when both of us got it standing in the water together :) - It was NOT a fun. Thanks a lady on the beach who provided us with the pills and eucalyptus oil.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Beautiful

The resort grounds, rooms and amenities were all beautiful and well kept. Service was amazing and food was good for Cuban standards. I recommend doing the privilege package as the perks are worth the cost

Valentin Perla Blanca: Amazing staff!

We enjoyed our stay at VPB but we found the resort too large (sprawled out) for our liking. That and the 2h bus ride. But we made the best of our 2 week stay. We enjoyed the sun and met some wonderful people (staff and tourists alike). Our room was situated close to the lobby (Block 29 - Room 2901) and the party pool. Loungers around the party pool were minimal during our stay. We found it easier to find a lounger at the Relax pool. And there were no extra loungers on the beach other than [... read more] the ones under the palapas that people would reserve early each morning but are not supposed to - signs everywhere too. Plain ignorance. And there was not an extra stack of loungers to draw from on the beach so people were laying on their towels on the sand. That didn't impress us at all as I am a huge beach person. We never spent one day at the beach which was incredibly disappointing. Food at the buffet was not good and this was our 12th time to Cuba so we didn't have high expectations. Sadly Cuba (not just this resort) is in a flour shortage so bread was hit and miss. Ketchup was hit and miss. One day the tables would all be supplied with ketchup, salt, pepper, sometimes mustard. The next day we would go to the same snack bar and they would have no ketchup at all. We found areas of the resort somewhat understaffed and the staff were lacking basic supplies to get through the day. i.e., no spoons; the lobby bar [staff were amazing!!!] would constantly run out of glasses so staff had to frequently take off to find some more even though other workers were bringing them clean ones when they could. A heads up too because they use many glasses there are pieces of broken glass throughout the resort/walkways so don't walk around barefoot. They have small, squishy plastic cups at the swim up bars (but they often run out of plastic too). No they don't serve glass in the pools. Your best bet is to bring your own thermal mug. They did run out of beer-on-tap a few times and served cans. They also ran out of liquors too. They have to wait for supplies to be brought in to refresh their stock. There is a VERY small shop at the resort in the lobby (the size of a closet) so don't expect to do much shopping there. They have liquor, cigars, trinkets, and things out of site that you may possibly need (i.e., disposable BIC razors). If you are in a pinch for something, just ask as they could have it tucked away. We did not venture off resort to any markets but understand there are 2 near by. We did the Sunset/Romantic cruise. Loved it but wish the boat ride was longer. Dolphin show was nice but the lobster/chicken dinner afterwards wasn't impressive. Both were VERY tough so not enjoyable. I am spoiled by our Atlantic lobster. Our room was always cleaned when we wanted it done (we didn't want it done daily). Fridge was well stocked with whatever we requested by Yosmey (spelling?). He took very good care of us and was such a pleasure! We were sad to see him move to another block towards the end of our stay. Beach towels were in our rooms when we arrived and we didn't have a problem changing them at the towel huts (one at each pool). Just don't wait until the end of the day to try to get a clean towel. Their laundry is done off-site, in another town far away. We came home 3 days before the tornado hit the Santa Clara airport so we were very thankful we left when we did. Otherwise we would have been facing a much longer drive to another airport to return home. Just remember, it is Cuba and the staff do their absolute best to work with what they are given. Beaches are gorgeous, people are adorable! We LOVE Cuba and will always return but probably not to this part of the island due to it's distance from the airport.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Not a 5 star resort

Amazing beach, beautiful grounds and good service. The food is absolutely terrible and yes I know it's Cuba! Limited drinks because of mix shortages. Expected better based on reading reviews prior to booking. No need to visit other properties that you have access to, very poor quality.

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Great resort

Great resort. Amazing staff. Food at the a la carte restaurants was very good. The buffet was hit and miss, but the staff was amazing. Absolutely amazing clown for the kids show at night! FYI, if anyone is going down, she says that good face paint is hard to come by, cheep stuff is easy to get but not good stuff. Great entertainment staff for the adults at night and in the pools during the day. The beaches are amazing! I will be going back, just bringing more food from home for my 5 year old.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Amazing Vacation

My partner and I recently stayed for one week at Iberostar Ensenachos. It was our second time visiting this resort and this time was even better than the last. We were greeted upon arrival, check in was smooth and our room was ready in keeping with the requests we had made.in terms of location,etc. The grounds were beautifully kept and we were amazed at the abundance of beautiful flowers and lush greenery. Both beaches were stunning and we enjoyed spending time at both Ensenachos and Megano beaches. They were two of the nicest beaches we have ever seen! The people were friendly, especially the wait staff in the buffet. The food was not spectacular but was certainly plentiful and there were lots of choices at every meal. We really enjoyed the Mediterranean restaurant. We also enjoyed the services of the spa. Overall it was a wonderful vacation and we would return to this resort again!

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Great Beach!

Beach is amazing!! Pool area is well kept and great bartenders Carlos and Rey. Rooms could use freshening up but are kept nice and clean, the maids work hard. Decent enough food at buffets/beach&pool grills. But the a la carte is where's it's at for dinner! Overall had a good stay despite a few issues with smells around the resort and no bottles of alcohol in the room as advertised.

Memories Paraiso: Grand Memories! Incredible time

This resort is great if you are looking for a calm but fun week to let loose and make great new friends! we were scheduled for the neighbouring resort paradiso however got relocated to grand memories! It was a blessing in disguise as we got to meet so many incredible people, the service was fantastic and the food was delightful as well! This was my first trip to Cuba and I can say it definitely will not be my last!!!

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: The Right Resort

Iberostar Ensenachos has two of the best beaches anywhere. The resort is just the right size, not too big not too small, with an adult area (Spa) separate from the family area. It's a little quiet but provides a very relaxing vacation environment. Always a reasonable selection of food at the buffets (it's Cuba) and they are well staffed with polite and friendly waiters and attendants. Rooms are spacious and maid service is very good. We've been here twice and plan to return!
