Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Great resort

Resort was very clean in general, sadly tourist dont help it. Good room, great people, funny, always ready to help. food was good but buffet are boring at one point... activities sold at the hotel are not that expensive, but REALLY fun!

It was our first all inclusive resort experience and we were very pleased with the place and everything! Rooms are ok, bed sheets and towels are clean, excellent room service, really great pool and good looking resort! Sea is a bit wavy but overall it was a great week !! ☺️ We did had some trouble with the food but I think we just have fragile stomach... I know the tap water isn’t good there but I’m sure there are better ways to reduce the plastic waste a bit at least!

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Sun Getaway

My best friend and I spent a week at the Senator. Grounds: Very pretty, manicured. Great pools. Beach is also wonderful, but sand is grey and rough. It was enjoyable to lay by the pool when the entertainment was not in full swing. Once it got rowdy, we hit the beach (personal preference). Water so warm and clear! Employees are SUPER nice and welcoming. Absolutely no complaints. We stayed in a Jr suite which was very basic, but comfortable and always clean. Food is totally average. They do tr [... read more]y to appeal, but I think they would be more successful if they served local foods. We ate at the steak restaurant 3 times, and twice was delicious. Sushi restaurant is basically a bad version of Beni-Hana, but the staff is so friendly. Buffet always has something passable. Enjoyed the breakfasts very much. All mixed drinks and wines are not good, which I didn't think was possible. Overall, we had a wonderful relaxing week, but will try somewhere else in the future.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Very Good

I read lots of negative reviews about Casa Marina Reef, i thought I should check it out myself, and I am glad I did, we stayed in the renovated area, it was very nice the beds are comfortable, staff are amazing, our housekeeping (Anna) was amazing, Bell Boy (Ray) was very helpful, food was great we enjoyed all our a la Carte except the Mexican was not as good as the other, and also the International $ was AMAZING. Activities and Shows staff very professional. front desk very helpful. the only d [... read more]isappointment we had is the Beach, if you like to go for a walk on the beach that is not the place for you because it is a very small and very rough from the waves hitting the large Rocks. we enjoyed lounging by the pool but they lack some umbrellas, they only have 4 Umbrellas at Pool #2. I am glad I experienced the resort myself, I will go back again for sure.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Bon rapport qualité/prix!

Bon choix de resort ! La nourriture est très bonne et variée. Les restaurants à la carte Rodizio (brésilien), l'Indochine (asiatique) et le Trapiche (mexicain) sont excellents ! Les piscines sont nombreuses et entretenues. La végétation est superbe. Les chambres régulières pourraient être rafraîchies. Les marches sont un enjeu pour les personnes à mobilité réduite. Bon choix en général.

Playabachata Hotel: Love this place

Have been many times, always friendly and completely stress free. Beach is wonderful ,staff always available and helpful. Would really like ten day vacations to be offered. The two story villas are charming , painted in beautiful colours and surrounded by pretty well cared for gardens.The rooms are adequate but need a little modernizing ,even a couple of pictures would brighten the space.Lots of choices at meal times ,nicely presented. Playabachata Hotel: Very good resort.

Very good resort and grate grounds,beach everything clean. Good food in general some improvement and variety requires. Senator resort is a big improvement .The mature trees on the beach are wonderful is a grate place and spacious you don't have to fight for space.

The hôtel is very clean, there is always someone cleaning, washing the floors...everywhere, in every corner, and the toilets, washrooms were kept cleaned at all time. Staff is welcoming and friendly. The beach is extra clean, a little wavy but very nice and warm and lots of chairs. We spent everyday laying in the sun. The buildings are very well maintained, very clean. We had a lock for the safe, which was appreciated, my wife had a hair dryer and we had a large closet.. Our bedroom had a bar, and it was always full of liquor, pop and water. The food was very good, lots of choices every meal, everyday. The A la Carte was not impressive, I went to different resorts before, and the A la Carte was a step higher in quality than the buffet, but not there;... we prefered the buffet. I am not a smoker so i thought it was hard to find a place where there was no smoke....

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Good resort

Resort was pretty good, only thing I didn't like about it was that wifi was not available in the rooms. The food and the drinks were okay. Also the card keys were constantly malfunctioning so that was an annoyance.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Great Time

This resort is small and everything is very convenient to get to. Has 2 pools one quiet and one very active for those who dont like alot of noise. The food was awesome at the buffet and snack bars. Alacarts were good but found it not big enough meals. Rooms were clean and a good size. You can upgrade for more money but no need to as the rooms were same but you do get small pool to yourself and meals but not the variety you get at the buffet. Stay away from the fancy dressed guys at first they w [... read more]ant to sell you a membership which in my opinion is not worth it unless you are retired and travel alot. Not good for the once a year traveler. I would totally recommend this place and go back again.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Great vacation!

This is an older resort with a few upgrades. The room AC hardly worked and our shower leaked. The bed wasn't comfortable. The restaurants were beautiful especially The Grill. Food was amazing throughout the resort. Beach was incredible! The spa was gorgeous and well maintained. Although it's rated as a 4 star online, they self-rate it as a 3 star. Overall it was a wonderful vacation but we don't feel we'll come back to this resort.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Great Resort

This was one of the cleanest, well run resort that we have been too. Congratulations to the manager of the resort and his wonderfulstaff. Beautiful room with walk in shower and huge balcony. Gardens around the resort were amazing and appreciated that they included the names of the plants and flowers. The gardeners and ground staff kept it pristine. Although we didn't use the pools they looked very inviting. We enjoyed the buffet and trying the other restaurants. Food was very fresh. Our f [... read more]avourite place was the Coco Cafe the Cappucino was excellent as was all the fine pastries. The beach was stunning - good swimming and going for long walks on the beach. We hope to get back again next year.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Amazing Time

I can truly recommend this resort. Definetly best time spended with my fiance and 1.5 year old son :) you don't need leave resort and will be busy all the time. We will come back in future. Thanks for great service. Cheers

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Great getaway

Senator did not disappoint. We have been home 1 week today. We couldn’t have asked for a better week. Food was fantastic, we ate at steakhouse 3 times (every time cooked how we asked) and Japanese once. Both fantastic ! No sickness of any kind between the 6 of us. Loved the buffet breakfast, fresh made omelettes, pancakes and crepes every morning. My biggest concern going in was the a/c we were on ground floor of block 9 and we were comfortable. Never a problem finding a chair by the pool, if we were too hot and needed a shady location we just headed for the beach. Plenty of chairs and a tonne of trees for shade. Superman and Barbie were awesome during the week for poolside activities, they really made it a lot of fun. Sign up for the games, bocce ball on the beach, horseshoes, darts by the pool. It’s fun !!!! My personal preference was the more quiet pool with the waterfall, great to bring a floatie and float around in or a game of beer pong. (We brought our own) A tip for the beach is you can snag some bread from the buffet and go out about chest deep in the ocean and feed the fish, they will come right in to you. Bring a snorkel mask if you have one. The little coffee shop had some really great little treats and coffee with whatever you can imagine, iced coffee with caramel was my favourite and friends enjoyed iced coffee with baileys. We recommend checking out the shops near the cruise terminal. Bartering is the name of the game, have fun with it. My friend and I got massages at hut #16 (air conditioned) with Nancy / Maria. Awesome job ! $20 for half hour $30 for 1 hour. Sandra at shop #14 had rings made for our daughters in a specific size ready for next day pickup. The resort was very clean, it was hot, pool and beach both fantastic and the drinks were cold !! We would love to return one day 💙 Bram and Katia

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Disappointed

As my husband and I have been booking our vacations for the past six years with Tripcentral, we were very disappointed with the response of our problems with this resort, it was the first time we had any problems with our vacation and were expecting a quick response, but was only answered when we were back from our trip. This resort could be an okay vacation spot if problems were dealt with. When we arrived in our rooms we noticed a foul smell which was coming from the pipes outside our rooms, [... read more] good thing was is that we did not smell it once we were in our room. We had no air conditioning in our room, (was 26C in our room our whole vacation), no hot water. There were so many stairs and inclines, so if you have immobility problems do not go, also very difficult for families with strollers. I would also recommend that you avoid A-la-Carte restaurants, as the two we ate at, my husband and brother-in-law got sick, also was told by others that they did also, stick to the buffet if you do go. On that, I must say that the pools, beaches and the entertainment during the day was fantastic, shout out to Julio Nice, Mosquito, Chichi, Champion and Superman. We did go to the front desk, guest services and our contact for Transat, Freddie, about our room problems, not a thing was done. I also sent an e-mail to TripCentral and only received a response the day after we returned home.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Bitterly Disappointing

My wife & I decided to vacation this year in the Dominican Republic with my wife's sister and her husband (B&L) as a result of their enthusiastic recommendations. Unfortunately the resort they usually book with wasn't available, but we found an opening at the Cofresi Palm Beach Resort at a very attractive price, so made a booking there instead. We noted there was an option to upgrade the room when we made the booking through TripCentral, but the basic room looked very pleasant in the photos, so  [... read more]we didn't bother. We should have. The first thing we noticed when we arrived at our rooms was a foul septic smell permeating the air in the immediate area coming from improperly sealed 12" pipes laid in a concrete trench close by our building. Once inside the room, we turned the "air conditioning" on full and set the thermostat to 16 degrees Celsius and tried unsuccessfully to turn the ceiling fan up from a lazy slow-motion waltz to something a little more energetic. My wife then went to turn on one of the bedside lights -- and received a strong shock from an exposed bulb-switch. My sister- and brother-in-law had similar problems with their air conditioning, and also no hot water in their sink or shower. We reported the problems to the front desk, to Guest Services, to Trip Central and to the AirTransat rep and eventually returned to our room to find the ceiling fan turning a lot faster and the room a little cooler, but certainly nowhere near 20 degrees, let alone 16. The cord of the bedside lamp was now laid across the night-table with an inline switch added into it. B&L had no such luck with their A/C and had to move their bed under the ceiling fan to get some relief from the heat. On a couple of occasions when it rained hard, water poured from the bathroom ceiling in both rooms. B&L did report patchy periods when there was warm water in their shower, but basically the rooms stayed the same way for the remainder of our 10-day stay, despite calls from the front desk to assure us they were working on the issues and requests to give the A/C time to "get up to speed". As well, the clothes iron in our room didn’t work. It's a shame about the extremely substandard rooms, because the rest of the resort has much to recommend it, including decent food and wonderful staff, if you don't mind climbing interminable steps everywhere to get to where you're going, and notwithstanding the fact that my wife cut her foot on a piece of glass in one of the pools.

Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort: Pretty Resort

The resort is beautifully situated with a great view of the ocean. The staff was very friendly and ready to assist. The resort it self is in good shape the buffet and spa were also very nice. The lobby needs sprucing up and gives a bad reflection of the rest of the resort . The room that we had did need some work. The air conditioning dripped all over the floor and there was a moldy smell in the future.The matrices were very hard and need to be replaced. With a few upgrades I think the resort w [... read more]ould definitely be up to a 4 and 1/2 * standard.

Paradise Playa Dorada: Ok resort

Resort was very clean. Beach was clean and you could walk a long way. Staff very friendly. Italian restaurant was terrible. Took 1/2 hr. just to get a glass of wine and 1 1/2 hrs. till we got our meal and it wasn’t that good. We went to the other a la carte, the grill, and it wasn’t that great either. Furniture certainly showing it’s age. We requested 2 rooms adjoining, with 2 double beds, and on the main floor as we had an 80 year old. We didn’t even come close, first room had a king bed, second floor, and the second room wasn’t adjoining, it was also second floor but it did have 2 double beds. They wouldn’t budge. Very disappointing. We’re not fussy women, but found a few things just not up to par. Would we go back, no.

Playabachata Hotel: Lovely resort

We loved the grounds , very close to the beach from rooms and buildings. They left so many palm trees, so it's very pretty and you can have sun and shade everywhere. We liked the smaller more intimate style of the buildings. Everything was clean and comfortable. Not the most updated but lot's of charm. Staff was friendly and very efficient. Highly recommend this resort.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Nice small resort

This is a nice , clean ,smaller size resort with nice staff and large rooms.it's is not located on beach , there is about a 10 minute walk down path to beach would not suggest for elderly or infirmed as it's quite a walk back and forth from beach to your room.
