Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: A lovely getaway
Nice pool, nice beach, surprisingly good food (fresh fish everyday!) While there were a lot of repetitions with regards to rice and egg dishes, the chef attempted to introduce variety, especially in presentation, from day to day. The rooms were spacious, but could have benefited from more storage areas, especially shelves in the bathroom. There were some minor maintenance issues: lights that didn't work out, sliding doors that didn't slide, but overall cleanliness was good. The staff were [... read more]
Sol Palmeras: Sol Palmaris Resort in Cuba
The resort is very clean and the staff very friendly. The food was excellent at all restaurant's as well at the buffets. Water activities were very good. I did have trouble locating the instructor that teach you to wear and use the deep sea diving equipment in the swimming pool. I never did locate this person. The swimming pools were excellent. We were book in a bungalow which is very far from the main lobby and all the restaurants. I did request something close during my booking but did not [... read more]
Starfish Jibacoa: Paradise
For my first time in Cuba it was awesome, no complaints at all. One just needs to adjust to Cuba being poor. I do want to return maybe next year . Have talked to friends about it and next year 3 want to join me and my husband.
Melia Las Americas: Great Resort
Hotel had beautiful grounds , friendly helpful staff, and lovely rooms . We stayed at the level area. Food was good. The beach and ocean were amazing . Pools were very well kept . We definitely will come back again.
Hotel Bella Costa: Terrible resort but people great
This hotel needs major work. Air conditioner broke, door wouldn't lock and cockroaches in room. No ice machine broke, no white wine, gin, vodka and butter only at breakfast. Food was awful. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Only good thing was beach and weather. The people are very friendly but don't have a lot to work with.
Melia Internacional: Hotel and property was nice
The hotel was nice and the staff was great. The food was so so but came as no surprise. Selection is tough to get in Cuba. Not the hotels fault. The only issue we had was when we tried to eat outside the hotel. You run out of cash quickly and there is no restaurants in town that will take any credit cards.
Melia Peninsula Varadero: Not great!
The best part of the holiday was the warm weather:) we arrived very late @12:30AM . the guy dropped us to the place where the building was, there was no light to see where we were going (We are seniors! )Plus they put us on the 3rd floor! We had problems with the safe , the shower as the doors couldn’t close so water accumulated on the floor outside, the balcony door was impossible to open , etc…. This cost us half a day , breakfast and lunch ,as we had to wait for maintenance!. The front [... read more]
Iberostar Selection Varadero: Great Resort
Friendly staff where ever you went. Whether you were at the beach, restaurant, bar or any facilities there was always a helpful hand. We booked restaurants in advance of our arrived and our reservations were ready for us on arrival. The rooms were clean and well maintained. A great beach with lots of chairs to choose from and the pool was clean and inviting. Had a wonderful time.
Paradisus Varadero: Could be better!
Staff was friendly and some amazing people. The food wasn’t great. We were supposed to be in adjoining rooms with my Mom never happened we were in different buildings. We waited until the night before leaving to finally get extra pillows. There were no hand towels or face cloths only bath towels. They constantly running out of coffee pods for the room. We always had to ask for more water for our room. We tipped every day too.
Melia Peninsula Varadero: Ok resort
The hotel was not what was advertised in the vacation package. The place was quite run down and needs a facelift. The food was good and plentiful. The staff were amazing and helpful. The Beach was lovely but definitely could have used more beach loungers as all loungers were being used or saved with a towel.
Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Great Trip South
The hotel was nice. Grounds, pool, facilities, restaurants and food were all good. The beach was great! Many of the people working the resort were also great! This is what keeps us coming back. The reason the beach was great was the soft white sand, wide beach that goes on for miles, safe, no vendors, very shallow water that gets deep very slowly, no undertow, nice breeze to keep us cool, lots of available shade and chairs, no need to save seats at 6am, beach bar, quiet and peaceful on the Royal [... read more]
Melia Internacional: Perfection!
The Melia Internacional Varadero is a newish property. Rooms are modern bright and spotlessly clean. Our room bar fridge was stocked daily with beer, cola, bottled water and even cava at our request. The staff are impeccably trained and all are friendly and lovely. Please tip these hardworking people generously. We felt extremely safe everywhere. The pools are meticulously kept. There are several pools to choose from with the main pool hosting a daily activity program- it's fun but loud. A quieter [... read more]
Grand Memories Varadero: Amazing Resirt
I found the grounds to be so beautiful. The staff is beyond helpful and friendly The pools and beach were perfect and easily accessed. The nightly sows were also very entertaining. Rooms were very clean and everything worked perfectly. I would have liked regular schedules for the carts but there were alot of benches for resting
Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Amazing Vacation
This is our second time at this resort although it was a different name and we love it there. Everyone is so friendly. The first time was in 2020 right before Covid. A lot has changed since then. The resort was very empty. We stay in the beach club because it’s quieter there but we were disappointed to find out that they are no longer using the buffet there and we had to walk all the way down to the main one. The grounds were very clean and well kept. Every day the gardener would give me a flo [... read more]
Hotel Los Cactus: Great Relaxed, Pleasant Resort
This was my 3rd time to this resort -- I found it was very typical to have repeat guests here. Amazing people and beach. The other guests were all very happy, friendly and easy to talk to. The food was on par with other Cuban resorts -- healthy and fine by us but limited to what Cuba can offer. I look forward to returning next year.
Roc Arenas Doradas: Amazing time
Leaving tomorrow. Enjoyed everything this hotel had to offer. Roc plus rooms had great showers and plenty of hot water. Bring snacks and condiments. Pool and beach amazing. The staff was super friendly and very appreciative of gifts we brought. Varadaro is close by and has a ton of markets. Took the bus from here and came back in a lemon car for $15. Bring American for tips and canadian for everything else. Excursions take credit card only same with gift shoppe in hotel. Bring lot [... read more]
Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Amazing beach and waterfront
Overall, We spent a fantastic week. There were some amazing areas that we enjoyed. The staff are friendly and amazing. However, there are many services to improve. The resort is a bit outdated and to get the superior rooms, they ridiculously charge you per person per night significant US dollars. The food was of limited quality and repeated every day with the same choices! The beach service for food and breakfast is very basic and limited and not a 5-star hotel. A discriminatory service calle [... read more]
Melia Peninsula Varadero: Do not go to this hole of a hotel
just keep looking. consider dominican republic or perhaps communist china before this hotel. food is crap, service is a dirty word, buildings are in disrepair, and the employees could not give a shit.
Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Perfect beach
The resort layout and exterior appearance were very nice. . Rooms were very clean, but just needed a bit of updating. Especially the door locks, safes, and bathroom fixtures needed updating. Staff were friendly, but were very busy and it seemed like they needed a bit more training. The beach was the best part of being at this resort.
Iberostar Origin Tainos: Gone downhill
The staff on the beach, at bars, and in restaurants and buffet were awesome. I was disappointed in cleaning services and the lack of variety of food choices. The rooms looked tired. I have stayed here a few times. Might need to look elsewhere for next year.
