Sol Cayo Coco: Great Beach
Very nice beach, both water-wise and sand-wise. Trip to Pilar Beach was also fun. Food was so-so but so is all of Cuba I hear. Very nice staff. I'd go back, given the low price and good value-for-money.
Hotel Camino del Mar: Awesome resort and staff!
Everything was perfect. One of our rooms didn't have proper air conditioning and they got a new one the next day. They were very accommodating for our party of 10. Food was good even if your a Vegan. It was very windy for the entire trip, which was ok to me. It was fun in the ocean and you could still jump off at the end of the pier for a quick dip. Didn't use the pool, but seemed like people were enjoying it. We went to one of their sister hotels, Melia Jardines del Rey for lunch and a swim, th [... read more]
Melia Jardines del Rey: Worst resort out of my 27 visits to Cuba !
I've been in Cuba 27 times, stayed at many chain hotels (including other Melias) , private homes, hostels, Cuban hotels and this has by far been my worst experience in terms of hospitality, service and food. The room had roaches, AC didn't work properly, the hot water didn't work and the cleaning lady made the bed but didn't clean the the sink, toilet, floor or shower. I didn't get served any drinks at the breakfast or dinner buffets. Lunch buffet at the beach staff were the exception. I sat at [... read more]
Melia Jardines del Rey: Awful resort
Suggestions to travel’ agents! Do not book anyone to this resort. 24 hrs snacks place,,no more foods at 10 pm. First day, toilet was broken. Waited 3 hours to move. Sewage smells in bedroom and outside balcony. Toilets paper always run out in resort. Beach towels run out at 9 am at hour open. I was carried my own role of toilet paper. Everyone who worked in this resort, they done good job. They can’t provide the better service Because, resort have no organized.
Melia Jardines del Rey: Lack of logistics in the reception of tourists
tourists have come a long way before arrival and the first thing they need is to get to their room and relax as soon as possible. Especially if they arrived late at night. They should not be collected like sheep in rooms and explain something for a long time. Each room should have a memo about the rules. That's all. This happens in all hotels in the world. On vacation, especially.A tourist should not run to the reception and ask: where is the outlet and what is your voltage. This is written in t [... read more]
Melia Peninsula Varadero: Not Impressed!!
The resort was beautiful and very big. The service was extremely poor. There was no greeting when we got there and when checking in the staff weren't to friendly. Our room had roaches in it so I had to request a different room. The second room we got the shower leaked thought the whole room. There was minimal entertainment and music in the resort. The disco was closed the whole time we were there. It took min. 15 min to get a drink at any bar and when you got a drink there was way too much alcoh [... read more]
Melia Las Dunas: Awesome resort
Had the best week at this resort! Food was good. Always something to eat in the buffet selections. Pasta bar, stir fry bar, grill station. Lots of fresh fruits and veggies. pool was refreshing, beautiful beach! Well kept rooms, awesome entertainment!
Tryp Cayo Coco: Friendly Cuban Staff
The walkways were uneven and the best to walk in bare feet. We found cockroaches in the room and others had feces come up in their bathtub. The room was tired and old. The staff however were excellent and the food was very good with some good variety.
Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Great Resort, Excellent location,Amazing staff
Stayed at Sol Rio Luna Mares right after new years and really enjoyed our stay. The resort was great and the staff even greater. The location is excellent being close to local towns for shopping and exploring. The beach is beautiful and spacious. Even though there was reno's going on the noise was kept to a minimal . I would recommend this resort to everyone.
Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Very Beautiful Resort
Overall pretty impressed with the resort. The grounds where maintained well, staff was very friendly. However the buffet was somewhat bare, stick to the a la carte restaurants if you can book them the line up was always super long.
Sol Palmeras: Sol Palmeras Cuba
Grounds, beach, pool area and rooms all very good. Room attendant (male) did a very good job. The woman booking specialty restaurants was useless, she kept telling us the restaurants were full but when we went to the international there were only 4 tables being used. We could not get a table at the Italian, so one night I talked to the maitre d and he gave us a table. We had the best meal there. We tried to get a booking for the Tuesday night before we left and the woman said it was closed. We wer [... read more]
Paradisus Varadero: Beautiful resort
The resort is very good but the food is not great especially the alacarte restaurants..half of the time they did not have the dishes mentioned in the menu .. the service is great , people are really nice and helpful.. loved their entertainment team.. kept us busy the whole day including evening.. really liked the kids club as well.. the staff is really nice ..
Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Good resort
Need some tlc, corridor was dark at night twice, first day without hot water. Otherwise great service, very friendly people! Very nice shows at night. Food was too salty, needs at least 30-40 minutes to book a la carte dinner
Sol Cayo Coco: Good value, but underwhelming
Lovely staff, rooms are average and have a fridge which is nice but bed is a little uncomfortable. Food is severely lacking and repetitive and disappointing BUT not gross and I never got sick. Pool is good and beach is nice. Day trips are meh. For value, it’s a good resort.
Sol Cayo Coco: Overall a good vacation but training lacking in kitchen
Wonderful Beach, Pool very good for different ages Site of hotel wonderful, Good attitudes from all categories of personnel, Rooms clean -comfortable, Dining Room well-decorated pleasant furnishing Quality of food ok but chefs lack cooking skills & require improvement. Air transat flight was supposed to leave at 3:50 pm and arrive Montreal 7:30 pm. No advice from anyone as to cause of delay no agent at hotel from Hola. Our flight left at 11 pm with arrival at 3 am .Customs &Baggage took almos [... read more]
Melia Jardines del Rey: Resort has gone down
The food was HORRIBLE at this resort, much worse than when I went two years ago. Shower was not working for three days, toilet in room took 24 hours until fixed. Pools were nice, but could use to be cleaned more frequently. Couldn’t get anything put pop, wine, beer or water in restaurants. Al le carte restaurants didn’t have everything on the menu available, every one I attended. Lifeguards were drinking booze and smoking while on duty. Had to move and get chairs off stacks by myself at the [... read more]
Melia Marina Varadero: Resort knew better times
To much complains, but most of them to Cuba itself. Food not tasty at all, and you need “to hunt†for it. Stuff corrupted. One time experience-is Ok. But really don’t understand why people come back here?
Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: good resort
the beach was good and the pool area was very good and clean. The rooms were kept very clean. As to the food for cuba was not bad at the buffet. We went to the french restaurant and the food was very good. We also went to the japanese restaurant and found the food and show they put on was excellent.
Melia Las Americas: Golf Heaven
The Hotel was more modern than I had originally thought. The food was abundant and varied, and the staff were fantastic, warm and friendly. The ala carte restaurants were also a nice change away from the buffet. Ping pong volleyball, and well the golf was outstanding.
Sol Cayo Coco: Other than the beach - disappointing!
My 11th time in Cuba and my first and last time at Sol Cayo Coco. By the 3rd day we transferred to Melia Jardines Del Ray and couldn't be happier. Sol Cayo Coco could be a true 3+ or 4* with some much needed upgrades throughout all areas. There seemed to be such a lack of care with the appearance and services at this resort. The lobby bland in color and lacking comfortable seating, no background music, no beautiful plants, no tropical vibe. Staff was kind and friendly and the beach one [... read more]
