Dreams Huatulco: Pleasant and quiet - very relaxing
If you're looking for a quiet alternative to the Mayan or Cancun, then Haultulco might be a great option. My wife, 2 sons and I just returned from a week at the Dreams resort. Nestled on a bay in the south Pacific, the resort is friendly, small and quiet. Our family enjoyed the authenticity of a true Mexican vacation and would recommend this spot to families looking for a quiet alternative.

Allegro Cozumel: could be a great place if better management
Rooms are OK they are clean but very basic. The grounds are not bad but if you you have a weak stomach you will not be able to take the smell of sewage. The food is very basic necessities. You have to ask for the most basic bacon and although you ask you may not always get it. The service is very very slow especially at the bar on the beach. You may have to wait 20 mins to get a drink. The pool itself needs desperate repair. This is an accident waiting. The liner has bubbles that if you are not [... read more]aware can hurt you. The kids club was the best always ready especially Juliana she was a sweet heart. Dining area was great except for a couple of miserable waiters. Over all it wasn't that great. Could have been better

Platinum Yucatan Princess: CrazyAmazing Resort
Immaculate property, food excellent and very little to complain about. The unfortunate thing was the beach. Erosion has made the water rocky and sea grass runs to shore everyday. If you walk along the beach there are little pockets to enter water on sand.. It is what you make if it. Certainly didn't ruin our vacation
I would recommend this resort to everyone !

Allegro Cozumel: Some good, some bad
Three major pools
- Kids pool (3/5): small slides, water fountains, etc. A number of the watergun/splash features did not work
- Relaxation pool (4/5): Nice and big, mostly used by families with small children and lap swimmers.
- Activity pool (3/5): Has a swim up bar, occasional water polo, volleyball, aerobics activities
Beach (2.5/5):
- Beach is not very long, only has room for 2-3 rows of chairs
- Only has one beach volleyball court
- Has lifeguard on duty during the day
- Sand is very roug[... read more]h
Food (2.5/5):
- Not the worse, not the best
- Nice omelette station for breakfast
- Not a wide range of food selections compared to other resorts
- Restaurants are small vs. number of guests
- Italian specialty restaurant is not recommended
- 30-40% of our group had on/off diarrhea/stomach aches from the food, so be ready with medicine in case
- You can ask the waiters for sausage/bacon and they'll bring you some from the kitchen
Service (2.5/5)
- Receptionist staff were helpful and very nice
- Bar staff were hit and miss, some were very nice, others us weird looks and seemed annoyed at our requests
- Restaurant staff are either slow or understaffed; they keep running out of food, cutlery, drinks, etc.
- You always need to wait for a table at the restaurants even though there are always available seats
Rooms (2/5):
- Most of our rooms had issues
- A few of the rooms had major/minor water leaks, one of the washroom sinks did not drain, the water pressure in the showers were poor, room always felt damp/moist
Other:
- Location (2/5): Requires a $12 (40min) ferry to get to mainland and Cozumel side has less activities and shops
- Sports (4/5): Basketball and tennis courts were nice; abundance of equipment available for use; gym was nice

Decameron Los Cocos Guayabitos Ramada: Great value, location, food and fun!
We have just returned from a lovely one week stay at Dameron Los Cocos!
This was our second visit, my youngest son and I had been there 8 years ago and I had forgotten how wonderful it was! This time our family of 4 went. If you are looking for a very clean and safe 3.5* resort on the beach, this is it! It is a very authentic Mexican resort and every one is very friendly. The food and quantity was very generous, the pools clean and now they even have lifeguards for the pools and beach. During ou[... read more]r one week stay we also went snorkeling, rode the complimentary bikes to the market in La Pineta, sailed the complimentary catammaran and rode horseback up the Sierra Mountains. Our rooms in Cocos 4 were spacious, very clean with beautiful views of the bay.We all had a wonderful vacation and look forward to returning again soon!

Dreams Sapphire Resort and Spa: A great family vacation!
My family and I just got back from Now Sapphire and had a great time. My daughters are 6 and 12 and neither can wait to go back again. We went on March break and found lots to do. Pool area was large enough so everyone had their own space, but lively enough to feel a part of the fun. Restaurants were wonderful... Buffet was perfect for breakfast or a lunch out of the sun. A fabulous room service breakfast was available even at 5am when we had to catch a shuttle to go home. The entertainment staf[... read more]f was great and though I never thought I would, I completely trusted the fabulous kid's club staff who welcomed my girls for a bit each day. Service at restaurants and at the pool was exceptional. All staff worked VERY hard to make sure we all enjoyed our stay. The evening movies by the pool were a big hit for the girls. The tennis lessons were wonderful, daily Zumba and pool volleyball were memorable to say the least. Rooms were very large and comfortable. Having cold water and pop restalked in mini fridge each day was great! We arrived at 11 am and room was ready for us to enjoy the entire day.My only complaint was the Beach. Nice to look at, but a crazy amount of seaweed made it a no go for my girls to enjoy. Snorkeling.... Forget about it! We did understand that this was a strange year for the amount of seaweed and staff sure did try their best to get rid of it off the beach, but couldn't control how much was all along the coast! Only 20 minutes from airport. It was an expensive holiday but....We would return again for sure!!

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Azul Fives is Luxury Plus Plus!
I have travelled extensively and stayed at many all-inclusives. Azul Fives on the Mayan Riviera exceeded all expectations. We were greeted in the lobby by tasteful and elegant modern decor, friendly and efficient staff and a glass of champagne! The grounds are beautifully kept with walls of colourful hibiscus.
Our room was the nicest I've ever seen! A full kitchen with stainless steel Frigidaire appliances (not needed as we ate at the many excellent restaurants.) We had two bathrooms, two tvs a[... read more]nd a comfortable king-sized bed. The living room sported comfortable leather furniture and the sectional couch turned into a bed (maid prepares it every morning and night.) The generous-sized bedroom contained a jacuzzi, and walk-in shower with a waterfall shower head. There were also two balconies with comfortable outdoor furniture, facing one of the many quiet pools located around the resort.
The food is varied and excellent. I enjoyed seared tuna for lunch at the Beach Side Grill. Unlike many resorts, you didn't need to make reservations at all the restaurants (only the Italian and Thai) and they also had "adults only" nights. I was impressed with the freshest guacamole and well-prepared dishes. The goat mole at Flavours was excellent! The chefs and servers are constantly working to ensure a perfect dining experience. We were never disappointed. If we ate early and wanted a night-time snack, room service was always prompt. We even pre-ordered room service for breakfast the day we left, as our flight was very early and the restaurants were not yet open.
The activity pool and area by the beach always had fun happenings, including a "bull riding competition" for the kids.
The drinks at the swim up bars were the best I've tasted at any all-inclusive resort. The margaritas and pina coladas were real (no fake stuff). The spirits were top quality. It is also the first time I enjoyed the house wine at a resort! The bartenders are all so friendly and remember your name and preferred beverage.
The beach is beautiful! My son enjoyed jet skiing while I lingered in the clear, warm ocean water. There are always plenty of beach lounge chairs. Even the beach towels provided are great quality!
The excursions recommended by the Transat Holidays representative were all top-notch and well-priced. We had an unforgettable experience at Rio Secreto: a beautiful walk and swim through a cave discovered several years ago. We were provided with everything required including wet suits, helmets with lights, and an excellent guide. A lunch of traditional Mexican food was delicious. This excursion was a highlight of our trip.
Overall, I found that many things that cost extra at other resorts were included at Azul Fives. I would not hesitate to recommend this resort to even the most discerning traveller. I can't wait to visit it again and to bring all my friends!!!
Thanks again, Tripcentral.

Hotel Emporio Ixtapa: Beautiful Resort and Area
A small lovely resort meant for my 8o year old mother and myself. Very accommadating with her needs. We loved the pool and the beach was the nicest beach I've seen yet! The only thing I found difficult was communication. Not many spoke much English and the area only takes Pesos not Canadian or American money.. Otherwise a great vacation!

Dreams Sapphire Resort and Spa: Amazing resort
We just returned from a wonderful 7 days at Now Sapphire Riviera Cancun. Our room was close to the beach and we always were able to access beach chairs. Elidio our waiter for the beach bar was awesome. He is clearly one of the greatest assets to this resort. He has personality plus and a great sense of humor. We looked forward to seeing him every day as that is where we spent the majority of our time (from dawn til dusk). He anticipated our needs before we even had to ask. Thanks Elidio!!!! We w[... read more]ould also like to acknowledge the superior service we received at the Lobby Bar from the following guys: Filiberto,Alejandro,Jesus,Manrique and Pedro. You guys rock!!!! Also, we would like to compliment the entertainment staff especially Omar, Miguel ( #1) and Louis. Thanks for the bike tours, beach volleyball and water aerobics! The overall atmosphere and quality of service from all the staff was superior. We would definitely recommend this resort.

Friendly Fun Vallarta: The name says it all!
We recently returned from our first stay at The Friendly Hola Vallarta. The staff were amazing! Each time you passed, they would smile. I couldn't believe how many return visitors were greeted with hugs, they truly have built long term friendships with many staff. We had asked for a specific room and when we arrived realized that it did not have enough sunshine on the deck for us. We requested a room change and in two days were thrilled with a magnificent view and plenty of sunshine! Each day a [... read more]special treat was provided, fresh donuts, bbq mahi mahi and snapper and my favourite, shrimp cocktail! I couldn't believe how clean the resort was, there was constant care taken to provide a wonderful environment for us. A fabulous holiday, thanks!

Seadust Cancun Beach Resort: Great Family Resort
Love this resort, we've been 5 times now and will continue to go back. The one reason why is because of their amazing baby club (18months-4years) When searching for a resort to stay a baby club my daughter could attend so mommy could relax was my number one priority, the staff is fantastic and I know my daughter is safe when she's there. She loves it just as much as we do :)

Azul Ixtapa Resort: Large family resort with lots of daytime activity
Past Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa by the Playa Linda beach so at least half an hour from the airport. Resort is very clean with lots of daytime activities for all age groups. Gym, climbing wall, kayak trips over to Ixtapa Island and lots of bikes to ride . We had a king bed room with a balcony but had to pay an extra 2000.00 pesos for that. All rooms have a view of the ocean. Their is a safe in the closet , a wall mounted tv but only a few english speaking channels. There are disney channels for the k[... read more]ids though. Fridge in the room but no drinks in it. You get 2 large bottles of water in your room every day but you only have to ask to get more. Water pressure and air con . very good.
Staff are very friendly and go out of their way to try to assure you get what you need. Pools are large and well cared for as are the grounds surrounding the resort. Entertainment at night was better than most resorts. They had a local dance company put on shows every night at the Forum which is about a 5 min walk from the front lobby and inbetween the Azul Ixtapa and the Azul Grand. They share the entertainment venue.
Beach is a let down as the dark clay like sand is easy to walk on but not for kids to dig to make sandcastles. There little plastic shovels were no match for the clay llike wet sand. The only shade is from a long tarp canopy with lounge chairs lined up in two rows and side by side under it. No palapas. Pool nearest the beach is the 'noisey' pool with loud music and activities and a swim up bar. We opted for the 'upper' pool which was a little quieter. Walk along the beach to the pier [5 mns] and take the boat over to Ixtapa Island for 50 pesos.
Food was ok in the a la carte's but the buffet food was not up to much. We have had better in Mexico and were dissappointed in it. It was clean and plentiful but catered more to the mostly Mexican clientele. Breakfast at Colours is best as there is a toaster and you can get fried eggs or omellets and bacon for breakfast. Lots of fruit also. Try room service for club sandwich and fries , quick and very good. No fries at the buffets. Veggies anywhere on this resort always cold even when in the chaffe dishes.
Crocodile natural swamp habitat is on right just before the pier and you can see them lying in the sun a few feet from you. Only a chain link fence seperates them from you. Make sure your little one doesnt put their hand through the chain link fencing!
Good clean family resort with childrens water park and playground.
