Mangos Boutique Beach Resort: Honest Opinion about Mangos Boutique
To be completely honest, this resort has full potential. It was rated 3 star but in our opinion it would get a 2. My sister and I went to this resort to get away, relax, eat unlimited food & drink and to tan.
We'll cut our review into parts.. Starting with the food: They have set dining times and if you don't attend those 3 sloths, you're not eating. When we arrived (approx. 4PM) we were STARVING. we asked the front desk and said theres no food until 730PM. we had to wait 3.5 hours to eat.
Lu[... read more]nch was our favourite, we enjoyed it. Really good. Dinner was alright, doable.. Breakfast wasn't that great.
Second, The room: we stayed in the Ocean front room. The room and view was beautiful.. It just had poor lighting. The toilet kept running, our sink handle was missing and at times we didn't have warm water. There were no drinks (not even water bottles) in our fridge. Third, the Exterior of the resort: Pictures aren't current AT ALL. Its very run down compared to whats shown on the site.. BUT I do see the vision and as we mentioned it does have potential if maintained CLEANLINESS.. Fourth, the beach/Pool: The beach view and water was nice, but lots of seaweed. The beach had too many locals and so it was hard to have quite time because we kept getting bothered. They did not take NO for an answer. The Pool, slide and hot tub was very dirty. You can tell it's not maintained whatsoever. Fifth, the Staff: Other than the male receptionist, and the female host for the evenings event. The rest of the staff weren't very friendly. They made it seem like we were a burden. Every time we had inquires or ask for more drinks or another plate of food, they would give us attitude and roll their eyes/suck their teeth as their walking away. It just made us extremely uncomfortable. We didn't feel welcomed at all. Staff were also lounging around not really working. During breakfast the staff would enter our dining area and start making a plate for themselves.
Next.. the drinks: It was good, I enjoyed it. Not watered down, good amount of alcohol and made great Pina coladas and Bahama mamas! they claimed it was an "all inclusive resort" BUT the bar is only open from 12PM-11PM.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this resort to anyone. It was just a bad experience overall. I hope they do turn it around because it can be such a great resort if they put the effort and proper training into the staff.
Also, lots of seniors!

Azul Beach Resort Negril: Not for us
My husband and I stayed at the Azul Sensatori Resort in Negril in mid April. After reading so many of the other reviews of this resort, I find it hard to believe we were actually at the same place! I guess it all comes down to expectations and personal preference. This was not the resort for us.
This was our 8th trip to Jamaica. The Jamaican people were wonderful and welcoming, always with a smile on their face and a friendly greeting. The weather was beautiful, the water clear and war[... read more]m and the beach lovely…although there are better stretches of beach in Negril, with fewer weeds.
Our expectation for our vacation was for rest and relaxation and escape from our busy lives. We got none of that at Azul. Our room was in block 8, second floor, overlooking the swim-up bar. So as you could imagine, during the day there was a lot going on below our balcony. After a day on the very busy, crowded beach, we weren’t able to come back and chill on our balcony in the afternoon due to the noise and commotion. Unfortunately for us, there was no end to that at night as the people below us chose to congregate and party outside their room until the wee hours of the morning. This resulted in very little sleep for us. We did mention the issue to our concierge and they offered to change our room but given that there are no rules as to noise at night we realized there was no guarantee that another room would be quieter. This resort has a lot of buildings on their strip of land. Everything is very concentrated with no real open areas or greenspace or areas for groups of people to get together and party….not a good set-up for people who want peace and tranquility!
The food was just ok. The buffets were mediocre at best. The Ackee Restaurant was good, with a nice ambiance overlooking the ocean. We did not eat at the Hua Hin Restaurant due to allergies. The La Romagna Restaurant was excellent but required a reservation. We managed to eat there once, then made a reservation through the concierge for a second night, following the ‘48 hour ahead of time’ rule, and had a confirmed reservation for 8:15 on Friday night…when we showed up for our meal we were told they had no record of our reservation and they could not accommodate us….very unprofessional! We ended up eating off the resort on two nights.
This is definitely not a 5 star resort, and definitely not worth the money. There are a lot of resorts in Negril…stay somewhere else!

Sunscape Splash: Good resort
This resort was nice food was good and rooms were clean. Other than people smoking pot in the rooms and stinking up the floor we were on it was good and security took care of the situation right away. Don't expect a 5 star resort because this is not. After a week there we were impressed with all the amenities and food. We would go back to this resort again with our children.

Couples Sans Souci: Home
Couples San Souci is a lovely sprawling 150 room resort. The grounds are one of the many features that keep us returning year after year., that and the staff. It truly is like going home, as you are remembered by staff members after only one trip. It makes returning an amazing feeling. Rooms are functional, not all glamorous like some other resorts, if you are looking for glass and marble this is not the resort for you, however if you are looking to reconnect with your significant other, hav[... read more]e great food, and ambience then this is the place for you. Beaches, there are two, one clothing optional, an the other a regular beach. Both are on the smaller side, however there is no public access to them both, so you do not have the vendors on the beach, which can be both good and bad, if you like people watching. Food is great, they will go out of their way to make sure all dietary needs are met, if you are gluten free, vegan, allergic, or vegetarian, regardless of your needs your covered. This resort has a 90% return rate for a reason!! Gym, inside and air conditioned. Spa, amazing! Room service, prompt!! Again its like going home.

Couples Tower Isle: Wonderful romantic holiday at Couples Tower Isle!
Almost everything about this resort was nothing short of wonderful! It was worth the long drive from the Montego Bay airport (~90 min), still got a nice scenic drive. The resort is well taken care of, the room we had (deluxe ocean view) was spacious enough for us and I like a nice room! The dining choices were all exceptional, even the buffet was amazing (and I have never said that of any buffet choice at a resort). The only thing that I found bothersome was the veggie bar by the beach. This[... read more] was one of the reasons we booked at Tower Isle, this was promoted as having healthy smoothies and juices with some meal choices as well (we are veggie people) - well, that much was true but the service was horrendous. Not sure why, everywhere else had fantastic service. Disappointing but we made do. The entertainment was always exceptional. And I cannot say enough about the staff - they worked tirelessly to set up, tear down (and so on) each new event taking place. Amazing!

Legends Beach Resort: Fantastic Hotel
We decided to step out of our comfort zone and try a little boutique hotel for our first trip to Jamaica. So glad I did!! From the front desk staff to housekeeping to restaurant and bar staff everyone was very welcoming and very pleasant. Kendrick in the dining room is a great asset to the hotel, from the first day he greeted us by name and always had a huge smile and welcome for us. We did the all inclusive and were never disappointed by the delicious, home cooked food. We had a ground flo[... read more]or room on the garden side the first night and found it very noisy with the street traffic so the second day we switched to a second floor balcony room and were very pleased with it. Very clean, very comfortable king size bed and lots of hot water. The air conditioning worked well and we loved sitting out on our balcony at night listening to the peepers.
It was never an issue to cross the street as the crossing guard was always available and watching. Very small beach area so best to reserve your spot early in the morning. We really enjoyed our daily walks up and down the beach, very beautiful. The water was warm, nothing in the water but soft sand, it was great. When you got tired of people bothering you on the beach you could spend the day at Samsara which was peaceful and relaxing. Good snorkelling there and excellent food there as well. The free shuttle was available to take you and bring you back.
It was a wonderful week and I only have great memories of Legends, Negril.

Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach: Amazing Resort
First time staying at an Iberostar and we were not disappointed. Room was very clean. The air conditioning in the room was amazing the fridge was well stocked. We stayed in room 1249 and we were close to everything. The beach was only a couple of steps down from the pool. The sand was nice and clean and the water was crystal clear. Food was amazing. I am a picky eater and they had something for everyone. The al la carte restaurants were great. We thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment during the d[... read more]ay as well as the evening. The staff went out of there way to ensure our stay was perfect and they exceeded our expectations. I would recommend this hotel to all my friends and family and look forward to going back.

Riu Palace Jamaica: Room WITHOUT a view
Beautiful hotel BUT there is a 40 foot wall separating the hotels. My view was the WALL. no water, no green, not even a palm tree - nothing but WALL. I did complain and was moved the 2nd day.
Beach service was hit and miss. Towel service at the small pool opened at 10:00 a.m. not 8:00 a.m.
The buffet was ok nothing spectacular but enough variety. Ala carte restaurants were SMALL and dark. As a single person travelling it was too intimate and dark.
DENA the server at the buffet restaura[... read more]nt - morning and lunch was FANTASTIC - very attentive.
For those who smoke, there is a small area which had overflowing ashtrays and empty glasses every time I went by.
Turn down service happened 2 x during my 10 days.
Sugar/stir sticks in the room were not replenished.
there was supposed to be a "breakfast order form" for room service in the room each day. I saw one, asked for another and never got it.
Also there is no hospitality room for changing before flying out. Just a room with two showers and sinks. NO Privacy at all.
I will go back to Montego Bay but will choose another hotel.

Couples Sans Souci: Beautiful Resort and people
We stayed here from April 17-24. We absolutely loved this resort, it's our 3 stay at a Couples Resort. Everything from the staff, grounds and rooms were just perfect. We can't wait to go back. The food was amazing, especially on the special nights. The return guest dinner was amazing. our only complaint was the distance from airport, but totally worth it if you are prepared ahead of time.

Sandals Inn: Sandals Inn in Montego Bay, gave us the best service we have ever had in a resort.
There is limited space and a small beach area, however if one is looking for intimacy with guests and a peaceful setting with very friendly staff. Then this is the place. If you are looking for more excitement this hotel will shuttle you to any other Sandals Hotels in the area.

Royalton Negril Resort And Spa: Some growing pains
A new resort that has some problems with communication - but make a good attempt to resolve issues. Staff were the friendliest that we have encountered and food was excellent. Issues arose around promotions on the hotel TV that staff were unaware of, difficulty booking large group for dinner, special services, loungers reserved and cabana rentals.

Grand Palladium Jamaica: Great Resort!
This hotel was HUGE! It was so nice and clean. Lots of places to eat and great food at each restaurant. The staff was amazing and so nice. We had such great weather and made the trip even better! I would recommend staying closer to all the amenities as some of the buildings were pretty far to walk each day, but not a big deal. Overall, great vacation!

Azul Beach Resort Negril: Great resort for very relaxed
Everything was very good. I believe it worth at least 4 stars for sure. Our suite was amazing: big rooms, huge balcony, amazing ocean view. I'm not a foody person so food was very satisfying for me. I do not drink alcohol but people who are into it told me selection and quality of mixed drinks was quite good. Also it worth to mention well-equipped gym. Beach is very nice but water is a little bit too shallow for comfortable swimming. Now, if you are looking for late night entertainment this res[... read more]ort is too tranquil.

Grand Decameron Montego Beach: First time in beautiful Jamaica!!!!!
Arrived at Royal Decameron Montego Beach for our very first trip to Jamaica check in went smooth front desk staff were very welcoming. This is a small resort which I enjoyed, has everything you need. There always seemed to be lots going on for entertainment through out the day. I will say though I was expecting a little more for a 3 1/2 star resort in Jamaica as far as appearance etc the resort itself is quite dated and in need of some repairs and updating in order to be considered a 3 1/2 st[... read more]ar. I usually vacation in Cuba and have read many reviews comparing the 2 destinations, many say a 3 1/2 star in Cuba is like a 5 star in Jamaica, I found the grounds at any Cuban Resort I’ve stayed at 3 1/2 star to a 4 star were much nicer and in better condition then this resort. I booked our vacation in early November for April and got it at a decent price so there for got what I paid for, if I had paid anymore I would have been disappointed. If you could get a decent price at the sister property next door which is newer you can use both resorts. If you get this resort at a decent price then it’s worth the stay. We stayed in room # 423 in the main building right above the main pool it was a great room with a beautiful view. Note: if you like to go to bed early request a room away from the stage entertainment area because it would be very load and goes sometimes until 11:00pm.
Pros: only 5 minutes from the airport
- Things to do within walking distance, such as Margaritaville. Restaurants, Doctors Cave beach, hip strip etc
- all but 11 rooms are ocean view (I booked run of the house rooms and got ocean view :)
- Beaches are nice and could always find a chair with shade pretty much anytime of the day.
- Enjoyed the food
- Enjoyed the nightly shows/entertainment.
- Enjoyed late check out until 3pm $25pp
- great AC
- Rooms are clean
Cons: Buffet tended to run out of things and took awhile to be replenished.
- waiting staff has to go too far to get drinks soda’s etc which takes away from their ability to give good service to other waiting guests, would be easier if they had self serve pop machine etc, not enough staff working the buffet at times.
- Shower Water temps were all over the map sometimes could turn very hot while in the shower then water could suddenly stop not returning for a few minutes.
- Definitely bring your own insulated cup for drinks.
- Have to pay for wifi
- Have to pay for safe
- No fridge in room
