We had such a great vacation at the Caribe. Absolutely the best staff at this resort. So happy & friendly & kind 🤗. Beautiful beach. Fun activities. Food was good. Staff made meals in front of you and just the way I wanted it. We have been on many vacations and would recommend the Memories Caribe. Upgrade to the suite. And have a delicious Cappachino at the piano bar with amazing staff 😊. Amazing vacation will return.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Awesome resort
The hotel and room was really good. No issues. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We made friends with quite a few staff there which was nice. The food was decent but I found that there wasn’t many options for breakfast, but all other meals were good.

Melia Costa Rey: Great Resort!
Very close in proximity to the airport, first off the bus on arrival and last on when heading home - huge bonus, this makes the bus right 10-15mins which is so great after a day of traveling.
Check in was good - you have to ask for the free wifi code, and it only works in the lobby and some very close room to the lobby. They initially give you 5 hours but you can request more for free. You do have to type the very detailed code in every time you login. It worked great and everything loaded n[... read more]o problem.
Room was great - no complaints at all, the bathroom is great new tiles and a great stand up shower as well as a big bathtub - which was very clean. New towels and all bathmats etc daily. One complaint was that the walls are very thin - we had some partying neighbours late into the morning hours and we could very clearly hear them.
To continue with the noise level, the pools are amazing beautiful and clean. One is very shallow - more so suited for children only mid thigh deep on an adult so not great for swimming. that leaves us with two more pools for the adults, one is the infinity pool which was beautiful - with a swim up bar - unfortunately it was closed due to covid. The one remaining pool was the "entertainment pool" and it was extremely loud. The resort is pretty small and you can hear the activities going on from anywhere in the resort. My biggest issue was how loud the entertainment was if you were trying to relax by the pool. Ideally there would be a "quite" pool so people who didn't want to be around the noise could go there.
There is a "collections" side to the resort which is available for booking at an extra cost, they did have a quite pool, but If your booked in a regular room you cannot go to this area.
Food was great, probably the best food I've had in Cuba. There is an omelette station every morning, as well as a smoothie bar.
Coffee bar in the lobby was amazing, defiantly a highlight.
As far as covid protocols go - the staff were always masked and professional. There wasn't very many hand sanitizers throughout the resort, which I think could be improved upon. Not to mention that I did not see one single table be wipped the entire time we were there, they would just reset the buffet tables with new cultery and carry on. That being said I didn't feel unsafe, the staff had to on a number of occasions enforce mask wearing to many of the Russian visitors.
PCR testing was easy and efficient - 30USD, results the next day.
A la cartes were delicious, I was a bit put off at the Japanese one where they had us sitting at a communal table, eating with our masks off and no social distancing. But the food was great at all of them.
Overall great resort - would go back, probably would book collections next time, but great value.
I had booked a lakeview room because I'd heard poolside was loud. I was given poolside. Nice room however, but loud. I had arrived after a long day of traveling, so was hungry. The food was cold. Ok, maybe better tomorrow. Went to grab a drink. Only beer, wine, rum
I don't drink any of them. Checked online and seems to be an ongoing issue. Switched resorts the next day.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Solid 3.5 star
I have previously travelled within the Royalton chain, staying on their properties 4 times in the past. This resort, while completely suitable for a family vacay is not up to typical Royalton standards. If luxury amenities and first class service is important to you I would recommend the Royalton Punta Cana, as you would still have access to the amenities at royalton splash (ie: the water park).
Pros : MYKAL the waiter at the buffet was amazing - he really made a difference in our stay and [... read more]in fact almost all of the buffet staff was fabulous! Including the hostesses!
The rooms were well appointed. We had a family suite and there was lots of room. A/C worked well and our housekeeper was great. Room service took a long time but that’s to be expected - you’re on island time!
The food at the buffet was repetitive but good. Although 2/5 of us did get food poisoning one night - we narrowed it down to a chicken skewer from the buffet - no big deal could easily happen here in Canada as well!
Grounds were well kept and the kids loved the tennis court, teens club and water park.
We hung out at the main activity pool and the servers from the swim up bar were great! Super friendly!
The entertainment “vibe†team was..meh. They lacked any real vibe and we’re hot and cold as far as friendliness and engagement are concerned.
The beach was AMAZING! So pretty, white sand and turquoise water, no seaweed at all. Walk over to the beach was easy (about 7-10 mins but we walk fast) there is a shuttle but we didn’t use it.
Cons: getting into a restaurant was such a chore, in fact we only got in on our last night. We went to the Mexican and the service was absolutely atrocious! Probably the worst service I’ve ever had. We ate quickly and left immediately. I was really disappointed.
Could use more entertainment and engagement from the vibe team.
Service at the front desk was ok. Definitely not 5 star.
Lack of access to the buffet at royalton PC was a disappointment. We were literally told to use it we had to pay $15 pp per meal. I knew that we couldn’t access their restaurants but the buffet?! Seemed bizarre.
Covid protocols: testing was on site at royalton PC and was really seamless. We had the results in less that 24 hours which allowed us not to stress too much.
All employees wore masks even outside. We felt super safe. That said many (the vast majority) of the Europeans that visit do not wear masks, not even inside at the buffet and it was not enforced by staff despite signage that said it was mandatory to wear them. We are not all that worried about Covid so it didn’t bother us but I think it’s worth noting for those who are concerned.
Overall would we return? Yes, if we got a great deal but we certainly wouldn’t rush back.
I would recommend it to anyone looking for a family vacation in a safe and fun location. Just manage your expectations and don’t over pay just to get away - that way you won’t be dissappointed!
Cuba and it’s people are not only dealing with Covid-19 but also years of The Embargo. Yes there are shortages and there are cosmetic issues but nothing will slow or stop the smiles and endless kindness of the staff on all levels at this resort. I truly hope the best is yet to come for this beautiful property. The lack of tourism is having its affect across the entire Country. If your willing to travel to a Country with beautiful safe beaches and clear blue water Cuba is calling. Make su[... read more]re to take a few extra bottles of Advil, children Advil, extra toothpaste reading glasses, anything medical, there in total shortages.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great Beach. Resort is aging.
4th time at this resort and it's been getting worse with every visit. On a good note a new director general was appointed 3 months ago and I'd promising to make great improvements. I don't recommend the resort at this time. Maybe after the improvements have been implemented. The rooms needs lots if improvements.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: I won't be visiting this place or anywhere in Cuba!
Where shall I start....yes, the bed bugs. I was covered head to toe - literally. They sprayed the bed twice, changed my pillow and eventually changed my mattress. Toilet in our room did not flush. I had to manually reset the pump each time. Power went out twice with no generator back up. No running water anywhere one morning. There was only one functioning toilet on the resort at each of the nearby restaurants. The other stalls either didn't flush or you couldn't close the door for privac[... read more]y. The hinges didn't line up! Bring a screwdriver if you plan on visiting so you can easily fix the alignment because the maintenance crew are incapable of doing that simple task.
WIFI was dodgy. Only accessible in the lobby. If you veered 10 feet from there, you lost connection and had to sign it again. It was mayhem when the weather was bad (it was cold - 2 days 17 degrees C - and raining - beyond their control) everyone was in the lobby using their devices, connectivity was definitely overstretched.
Food was actually tasty (they finally had salt shipped in!) when you could get it. They ran out of everything. The al a cart restaurants would ask you to take a picture of their menu, but when it came time to order, they didn't have what was on the menu. What's the point of that!!?? Just tell us what you have when you take our order. The wait staff were rude. They should learn how to speak english as most of the guests speak it!!
We upgraded to Diamond Club, paying extra for upgrades they ran out of!! No premium drinks were to be found at any bar. VIP service - right!! I still had to wait in line at the reception desk just like everyone else. I'm not saying I'm more important, but when you pay for a service, you expect to receive it. Private beach was fine. The private bar on the beach didn't have premium drinks and neither did the Diamond Club restaurant. All I wanted was a good scotch! Not one bar tender was capable of making a decent margarita - and that's not a premium drink!!
The hotel needs a complete renovation. The grounds are nicely kept - but I don't sleep outside!. The rooms are clean but need a serious update. The lobby needs new furniture. The fake leather couches are ripped, torn, cracked and have cigarette burns. The pictures on the website were taken when the hotel was built and nowhere near what the place looks like now.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: A Peaceful Retreat
The staff at the Iberostar Daiquiri are excellent. They wear masks for their entire shift and remain pleasant. I know this is not the easiest thing, and I appreciate that they have such great care for their guests health and safety.
The resort had just recently re-opened. Although all of the usual amenities and services weren't always available, we were well taken care of. There was plenty of food to eat - above normal Cuban standards, but not a culinary experience if that's what you're l[... read more]ooking for.
The room was refreshed; everything worked and we had a lovely view of the ocean.
The beach was excellent as usual. We took our own chalk and played pickleball on the tennis courts. The bicycles were in great shape and the riding was the safest it has ever been. They have finished building all of the hotels on the Cayo Guillermo strip, so the roads didn't have all the construction trucks we had become used to.
Thank you, Iberostar Daiquiri. We will be back as soon as possible.

Gran Muthu Imperial: So much fun!!
The resort was absolutely beautiful, the beach was a a little far from the rest of the resort but the walk was nice. They always had something going on around the pool, and everyone was so friendly. Went on two excursions, the Sea Tour and Ciego De Avila. They were so much fun and definitely recommend these excursions. Had an ocean view room with a huge king size bed. Nice beach and pools. Beautiful large room. Food was ok. Hotel Playa Paraiso: Terrible customer service, moldy room and mosquitos bites.
My experience here was a very bad one. I was assigned an moldy room and had to live in few days before moving to another. Second room was on the third floor and we did not have shower water during pick time. We were bitten by the sand fly or mosquitos and it turned out I was allergic but as the medic at the resort said "Cuba pharmacy is poor, no medication". For $20 I was applied a cream from an opened bottle, to release the itch, and let go. Everything in other places you get , here was gold. Y[... read more]ou had to go to the reception to get water in the room and towels. At the buffet you had to ask for a glass of water, wine or coffee. Seconds, were very hard to get. The meet was hard like an shoe's sole even at "A la carte". Cockroach were marching freely in the kitchen and everyone were touching the plates in a search for a clean one. All this put Cuba last on the list of vacation's destination.

Gran Muthu Imperial: Nice hotel but COVID is the problem!!
There is what you need to know. This isn't the first time at this resort. Our previous visit was one of the best experiences I ever had in Cuba and this has been the worse experience I ever had anywhere.
Resort ground well kept and maintained.
Pool clean and beautiful.
Rooms are nice and our maid (7102) did a good job. Only issue is we never received beer or pop after the first day. We did receive water daily.
Food and very scarce and limited. Last time we were here there were[... read more] pasta stations, pizza stations, fish and meat etc.. This time three was only fish and meat(pork and sometimes beef only) stations. The hot buffet had 3 or 4 different rice dishes, a bean dish maybe and potato dish. Also something they repurposed with hotdogs and a pork dish you could dump over your rice. Breakfast was the best meal of the day. You're not allowed to serve yourself so you are always waiting for a staff member to put your requested food on your plate if they could understand you. During our stay there was no butter for the first 3 days, no vodka at any of the bars, no chicken and the list can go on and on. We were lucky and we were able to eat at the alacarts most nights(thanks to a staff member getting us in Yoan).
We arrived on Wednesday Jan 19th and we were able to enjoy our selves beside the food issues until the Monday night when our COVID test results can back (this is when the nightmare begins). I will try to keep it short and to the point, but I could write a novel.
I SUGGEST NOT TO TRAVEL TO CUBA ANYTIME SOON. THEY HAVE A MAJOR COVID OUTBREAK.
They tested us Sunday morning and you get result back late Monday night for Wednesday travel back to Ontario. I went to the desk at 2200 to find out our results and told that my girl friend tested positive for COVID and I was negative. At this point we had to pack up her things and she was taken away to another room in the same hotel(I choose to go with her so she wasn't alone) . She did 2 rapid tests and both were negative and she had zero symptoms. There were also 9 other people from the same plane that we were at our resort (not counting other resorts) that tested positive. Once you were put in the COVID rooms you were treated like you didn't exist anymore. The Air Canada Rep at the hotel through this whole experience was no help at all. They didn't even check on there customers to see what they could do or if you approach them they just talked in circles and said to deal with the hotel. Air Canada was the ones promoting this place and should be held responsible too.
Customer service would call your room to see what you wanted to eat 3 times a day. If the food even showed up it was normally cold, you might get a fork or knife, a nice salad but no dressing. Lunch one day came at 1600 and another day dinner at 2200. How is this acceptable? After you're finished with your dishes you put them on a table out in the hallway. Most days the dishes would sit there for the majority of the 24 hours before someone would pick them up. This was attracting very large cockroaches and animals.
There was no maid service. If you wanted your room clean you had to beg and tip to get cleaning products from the maid. Then she would stand there and watch you clean your own room. My girlfriend's sister and myself had to keep calling the resort to help get her the basics like food and water. The resort refused to give you any beers or alcohol and when you ask why they said because you have COVID.
I asked for her to be retested because she had no symptom and was wondering if it was a false positive and they said not for 5 days. I said I'm paying for the tests and should be able to be retested. They out right said no. The only time you saw the Doctor and nurse was once a day when they would show up to listen to your breathing. Most days they didn't even know my girl friends was. No paperwork with her name on or chart. Other peoples names, but not hers.
Now came Wednesday when our flight was to return. I had to leave her there after a heavy heart, as if I stayed and tested positive later in the week, I would be forced to stay another 10 days after the results come back. Now she was all by herself in isolation. It just got worse from here. Thankfully we had bug spray as she was getting eaten by bugs in the room. She sprayed the balcony daily as there were ants everywhere as well.
The front desk at certain points were purposely not answering the phone we she would call to request water. I know this as when I called from home they answered immediately. Her sister had to keep emailing as well as calling. Even then most the time they said they would look after our request and nothing happened.
Friday came along and they retested her. Again we had to wait to the following night(Saturday) to get the result but they never did arrive until Sunday morning. At 0830 Sunday morning we received the news she was negative. Now the race was on to get her on the only flight Sunday(no others till Tuesday)to get back home. The only flight was a Sunwing flight because Air Canada reduced flights to only to 2 days a week. The Air Canada rep just pushed her over the Sunwing rep. They Sunwing rep said there were lots of seats on the flight so she jump in a cab to the airport. After the cab driver ripped her off for $70 to driver her one way(could have got a ride from the airport when we arrived for $35 CDN) she now had to wait out side the Airport until most people checked in and for Sunwing to process payment. During this time the Sunwing rep was playing around with his friends outside the terminal watching videos, screwing around and burping loudly (very unprofessional). After a bunch more hops she made the plane ride home at a cost of $495.00. Lucky we purchased COVID insurance.
Side note the Sunwing flight she was able to get on, 47 people missed there flight home because they tested positive in Cuba.
There is a lot more to this nightmare, but I have given more than enough information to paint the picture.
The resort could have done such a better job to help you through this experience and they just refused.
I will be a very long time before we travel to Cuba again.
We absolutely adored Melia Cayo Coco! Lovely pool! Nice restaurants! Good morning yoga/stretch! And very nice, clean rooms! The beach was great! The service was awesome! Quiet, peaceful relaxation at an adult's only resort was exactly what we were looking for. We also net a lot of really fun, friendly other tourists!

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Great Resort.
We found rooms and generally all areas clean and maintained. Ala Cart restaurants were very good. Staff were friendly and attentive. Drinks and bars were also good ðŸ‘. Pools areas lots of seating. The beach area is also quite nice. If we have any complaints it would only be the pool side entertainment as well as the nightly entertainment was very poor. Otherwise we'll pleased with Muthu

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Nothing but problems
Upon entering the property we had encountered issue after issue in which were not resolved in almost any matter and when they were supposedly taken care of we came to realize that we would just run into another issue. The property was not well maintained and found that broken glass that we spotted on major pathways on day 1 was still there in our last day. We choose this resort because of all the great reviews and I’m not sure what happened but not one of the reviews I read supported our exper[... read more]ience and in saying that I had met a couple that was at the resort back in November and they said them selves that when they came than it was great and that’s why they decided to take the family there for Christmas vacation and that they weren’t sure what happened but after this experience they would not return. It was like a completely different resort this time than last.
The grounds were well kept and the employees do the best they can with what they have. I had a suite 605. The view was beautiful but that’s it. The sliding doors were extremely hard to slide open and you could not lock them. One of the screens were immovable. The curtains were dirty and had paint on them. Both our toilets did not work properly. I had to remove the lids and fiddle with the valve to get them to fill up again. The ac was leaking into the room. The ac in the bedroom barely[... read more] cooled the room and we sweated every night. I slipped and luckily I didn’t hurt myself but it could have been very serious. I went to the bathroom half asleep and stepped on the puddle and slipped. My maid never cleaned the toilets or sinks. The bed was so bouncy and felt like you were sleeping in a jungle gym. The pillows were flatter than the prairies. Our sheets were changed on the day before we left. They turned yellow from all the sweating we did before they were finally changed. The fridge froze my water but I’ll take that over too warm. We didn’t have towels to shower with fir a few evenings. I had to keep my beach towel for a whole week cause no towels were available. There was no milk, no gin, no vodka and no olive oil on most days. I won’t mention the food because what’s the point. The place is run down and in need of serious maintenance. It is not a 4 star and more like a two star at best At the spa, the pool had an oily slick and didn’t filter properly. The steam room had a pipe spewing really hot steam at your ankles which can cause a very bad burn if you weren’t aware that it was there. Honestly, an accident waiting to happen. I was happy to go home. I went there for the beautiful blue water but this was my last trip to Cuba. I realize they are having hard times. I wasn’t expecting it to be this bad. I was looking for a bit of pampering and oh boy, there was none to be found. I can’t believe the amount I paid for this vacation. I feel duped. I heard other folks paid a third less. So feeling like a fool for believing the reviews.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Fantastic Stay
My partner and I had an amazing stay over the Christmas holidays, met lots of lovely people including tourists and staff. The staff in particular are extremely wonderful and kind! Things I would recommend:
-Bring lots of bug spray. Keep your room door closed at all times, the gnats are too small to spot but you'll get bit a lot.
-Bring more cash than you think you'll need. Canadian is great, American is good also. The only currency you can get while you're there is cuban, which is fine (not as[... read more] good) for tipping but not good for much else.
-The food is a little plain, as with most Cuban resorts. I stuck with fish, seafood & veggies. Some people bring ketchup, hot sauce, garlic salt, etc. if you're really picky.
The beach, the coffee, the staff, the entertainment and the value are all absolutely incredible.
