Riu Ocho Rios: Great family resort

I was more than satisfied with all aspects of the resort. I visited with three generations of the family, there was something great there for everyone. My young grand-children were particularly happy with the various activities available there. The adults also had a wonderful vacation. The nightly entertainment was excellent.Alic

Riu Palace Tropical Bay: Great resort except for Sunwing Rep

Resort is newly renovated and very clean. Beach is beautiful with lots of chairs. Pools are okay but often crowded with kids. Rooms are a good size with nice modern bathroom. Bars are great and have an extensive drink menu. Coffee bar in lobby and 24 hour snack bar are nice touches. Food was surprisingly good for an all inclusive. Jerk Hut on beach, Japanese restaurant and the buffet were favourites. Staff were really good and went out of their way for you. The rep at the resort was unhelpful to the point of being rude, online check-in for the flights was non existent and our flight was delayed by 2 hours which meant we had to spend 5 hours at the Montego Bay airport.

Riu Palace Paradise Island: Amazing Resort -- but beware of Jr Suite Ocean View - accommodation

Hello, We wanted to share our experience with you about our recent 4-day vacation to RIU Bahamas. We travelled with 7 friends from November 21st to 25, 2019. Before we left for our vacation, we were reading the reviews for this resort and most were very good but it did mention that the Junior Ocean Suite would not accommodate 3 people as described. We brought this issue forward to our Trip Central travel agent – but were very disappointed with her reply. We went thru a travel ag [... read more]ent because they are supposed to experience firsthand the resort and provide their input. Unfortunately, all we received was “exactly what was in the brochure/on-line” it says that the room would accommodate 3 people fine. We also paid more than our friends who shared the standard ocean view room as a double. The travel agent also told us that we three are paying more because we had a larger room. Upon arriving at the resort, the staff at the RIU were fabulous. Immediately after providing our name to the reception desk they advised us that the room would be “very tight” for three people and we could upgrade to the “family suite” for an additional fee. Terry at the Front Reception was excellent. She understood our concerns and she wanted to help us. She suggested that we go and view both rooms and then decide. Well the Junior Suite Ocean view was definitely smaller. It was the same size as our friends’ room. Therefore, we had to once again pay an additional fee. What should have occurred was that our Travel Agent should have immediately suggested to all seven of us travelling that we should reserve TWO family suites. The family suites could accommodate all 7 of us very comfortably (4 in one and 3 in the other). Needless to say, we will never be using this agent again, as she did not look out for our best interest. The RIU Bahamas resort was fabulous --- the staff went out of their way to be helpful. The food was great everywhere from the a-la-carte restaurants to buffets. The grounds were very clean and well maintained. The beach/pool were very nice, especially the infinity pool. In the end after paying a significant amount MORE our room was nice too. We would recommend the family suite to any party of 3 or more. If we had any complaints – very minor one would be the bus ride back to the airport on our way home. There were 4 buses to take all the passengers to the airport and then there was a cube van which transported ALL the luggage. It was very strange not to have our luggage travel with you. When we arrived at the airport – it was a little overwhelming for everyone to try to find their luggage as they were being taken off the cube van. Thank you, Rita, Liz and Sonia

Riu Republica: 9/10 would Pacho Disco again!

Just returned from a 7-day stay with my girlfriend thanks to Marnie's help from the tripcentral team. Overall we were very pleased with the resort, would definitely recommend it for someone looking for a mix of fun and relaxation, especially younger to middle aged couples. Food - 8/10 - some of the a la carte restaurants were a bit below expectations (and not actually a la carte), Kulinarium was the best for us Drinks - 9/10 - pours were generous when prompted, selection was good, would be n [... read more]ice for a 5-star rated resort to have premium liquor though Beach - 10/10 - beach was fantastic, beautiful white sand, little to no seaweed, lots of space. Bit wavy but hey it's a beach and it's fun! Pools - 8/10 - no issues really with pools, good selection, just a bit of a boring layout - big rectangles. Water slides were fun for a bit Staff - 9/10 - had a great experience with the team, they were engaging and fun, bar and server staff were attentive and polite for the most part Room - 8/10 - solid room quality, beds were decent, service was good, again just a bit of a plain boring layout Entertainment - 7/10 - while staff made the most of what they had, the shows were mediocre overall, and everything was too structured - every evening you'd have the exact same schedule - dinner, music, show, bar, disco - rinse/repeat. Would be nice to have a bit more variety as we've seen at other resorts in Mexico. Highlight was the Pacho Disco - lots of fun, except the Saturday night where it was a bit greasy, seemed like more people came out of nowhere. Overall 9/10!

Riu Emerald Bay: Great Resort

Resort was great in all it had to offer, rooms, pools, beach, food, staff. Bigger balcony then usual, great ocean views from balcony. No line ups for food or drinks. Only downside was elevator wait and too many restrictions at water park, no zippers, jewellery, drinks, food etc etc.

Riu Bambu: Wonderful holiday

My husband and I visited the riu bambu Nov 14th to 21st 2019. This is a very lovely hotel rooms were great beach was superb! We have been to the riu hotels many times in the past and always found them to be good resorts. If I had anything negative to say about the resort the only thing would be that the beds were like sleeping on a slab of wood. Very hard!

Riu Palace Paradise Island: Excellent Resort

The RIU is in a very nice location. The view is beautiful from our balcony. The friendly staff is always willing to meet your needs. Delicious food and drinks are always available. The comfortable room is great for relaxing in.

Riu Palace Paradise Island: Wonderful Adult Resort

This is a really lovely compact all inclusive hotel. The whole place is very well kept and clean. In addition, I found that all the staff were welcoming, friendly, obliging, and very grateful in accepting tips - unlike a lot of other all inclusive resorts in the Caribbean where staff expect tips for everything and are surly if they don't receive them. The food in general was very, very good with a lot of variety. However, the system of booking the special restaurants needs a rethink on reservations. I think that Sunwing is at fault here. They should hand out a paper upon arrival of the dates and times that each of the special restaurants are available. No one on vacation wants to line up at 5:30 for a special restaurant to be told they only accept the first 50 people in line. I was lucky enough to get in at the Steak Restaurant and the lobster was fantastic. For night life, being right next door to the Atlantis has its advantages. Besides gambling, there are bars, a movie theatre and a comedy club available at the Atlantis. For a quick, five day four night holiday, I would definitely go back to this hotel in Nassau.

Riu Palace Antillas: Great Service!

My sister and I were very impressed by the service and friendliness of the staff. The resort was very clean as the buffet had different items everyday. Many have mentioned that the rooms are getting a bit dated which is true but the level of service makes up for any cosmetic shortfalls. I would definitely go back to this resort.

Riu Palace Costa Rica: Fantastic resort!

The RIU Palace Costa Rica was nothing short of amazing. The hotel is beautiful, the pools are big and the layout is great. The food was great as well!! If you are a beach go-er.. this resort may not be the place for you as there were very few beach chairs on the beach (I think the resort is more so for pool people I’d say). Then again, CR isn’t known for their spectacular beaches. I personally was OK with it but others may not be. The only thing that I wasn’t a fan of was the “restaurant [... read more] policy” if you will. You have to show up VERY early.. like 5:30pm to get a chance of being seated and if you don’t, you may be denied and there’s no second seating. That was extremely frustrating for me and my bf. The food at the restaurants was good but the “get there early” thing was very annoying!! But, overall a fantastic resort; we had an amazing time!!

Riu Palace Tropical Bay: Great resort!

Resort was beautiful- Beach was gorgeous and warm, sandy bottom, Although had jellyfish lots in our party were stung. Food was amazing. No complaints. Didn’t crave anything. Italian restaurant could’ve had better options. Rooms great. Spacious, clean, comfy beds. Love the two-part shower (regular handle and rain style). Very touristy - many vendors on the beach and lots of water activities (parasailing, fishing boats, bar boat etc) too busy- not quiet and relaxing. But still beautiful [... read more]. Need more public bathrooms at resort. Too far from beach and pool. Although they were kept spotless. Servers in main restaurant were great and remembered us and what we liked to drink. Very welcoming. Shows were ok. Some great- the African show not good, the dating show hilarious! Reggae and the Rock show was good too. After dinner music boring - should be more exciting rather than put you to sleep. Should be better and FRESHER snack bar food at 24hr place. Animation team great! Spotlight was fantastic at pool for entertaining / band that tune and hosting games.

Riu Palace Paradise Island: Our Go to

Hotel has become more of a party destination... had to change our room because being in the middle of a 50th or 40th bday gathering . Two double beds side by side suck and the pillows even with 4 each were really bad , woke up stiff and sore every morning. Staff is still amazing !! Food was good, spa massage was very nice 👍

Riu Palace Tropical Bay: Amazing resort!

I loved everything about this resort! The staff, the food, everything was amazing. I highly recommend this resort. I can not wait to return. The best service we have ever received. Ever!! Cannot say enough good things about this property.

Riu Palace Tropical Bay: Great Holiday at an Amazing Resort

Attended a destination wedding which was wonderful, the resort did a great job. The grounds were immaculate and rooms were very clean. Actually the whole resort was very clean including the public washrooms, it was very impressive. Loved the 24 hour snack bar which included hamburgers, hotdogs, sandwiches, nachos, pastries, fruit, beer, coffee, tea, juice, pop and fresh popped popcorn which I ate everyday!!!!! We traveled with a vegetarian and he was satisfied at every meal. Entertainment was great and the beach was the best on Bloody Bay. My only complaint would be our room. It was at the back of building 2 on the ground floor close to the road and beside a utility room that was used by staff so it was very noisy and had a sewer smell. We were surprised we had such a bad room considering we were one of the first to book months ago where people who booked later had fabulous rooms. Other than that we loved every minute of our vacation.

Riu Palace Tropical Bay: Pleasantly surprised

This hotel was excellent. Room, service, amenities, cleanliness, and food. Couldn't ask for better. Normally I would try to avoid the large buffet style restaurants, and eat at the smaller specialty dining places, but Riu Palace's buffets are amazing. Attended my daughter's beach wedding, which was organized by the hotel. It was perfect. A wonderful experience was had by all. Thank you for recommending this facility.

Riu Republica: Amazing resort

This hotel was very very very nice. From the welcoming to the service of the friendly and amazing staff I can say I will be back. The restaurants and buffet were very catering to the needs of the clients. Food also stocked, freshed and well seasoned. Im glad i made the choice to come to this country and stay at this Riu.

Riu Republica: Beautiful Resort

Beautiful resort, everything was always super clean. Well air conditioned. Nothing ever sat on tables too long at restaurants they were very quick to clear plates off for the next guest to sit down!!!

Riu Playa Blanca: Amazing Resort

I would like to start off by saying when we got in to Riu Playa Blanca resort we received a warm welcome at the very beginning we were offered a glass of rum punch and a sandwich to eat as soon as we got there. My group and I was blown away by the welcome treatment we received there. Also check in process was very smooth no problems. the resort was very clean and all the staff was willing to help in one way or another Mr. Domingo at the front desk was extremely helpful to me and also he went  [... read more]out of his way to help me in terms of a little issue I had with my room also Felix at the front desk was very helpful to me by arranging for us to get a rental car. They both was amazing and I am happy to say good word about both of them. The food was amazing and we had nightly entertainment which was assume also the disco was pounding well to have lots of fun at nights the only thing all the music was in Spanish we would of love to have a bit of mix music as there were lots of us from Canada. The hotel was keep clean every day and room service was good at all time in terms of getting my room tidy on a daily basis I have no regrets going to this resort and I will certainly go back again with my family we were there from November 7th to November 15th,2019 Thanks Khamrajiee Singh

Riu Flamingos: Not that great

The rooms are okay although we tried on three different occasions to get our safe unlocked (it was not able to be used from the get go) and never managed to get them to come to the room to fix it so we never had the use of the safe. We went with a party of 8 age ranges from 17 to 80. The very worst part was the pool although it says there's a kids pool don't be fooled both the pools are kids pools and there are a LOT of kids there in the pool with soggy diapers on, jumping and splashing when [... read more] you're just trying to relax. There's more kids at the swim up bar than adults and it's very hard to get up there to get a drink. There is no poolside drink service. The pool also feels gritty on the bottom and if you swim through the water you get hair caught in your fingers. The kids are everywhere when you try to have an adult game of volleyball the kids are swimming between your legs and all over the place. The food at the resort is pretty good especially the Italian restaurant, at the steak house don't order the top sirloin it's really tough but the food was good and it's nice not to have to make reservations. Most of the staff are not that friendly unless you jiggle your boobs in their face then it seems to be effective from what I saw. Overall I would definitely pass on this resort, I've stayed at other RIU properties and this one is by far the worst.

Riu Santa Fe: Mucho Fun!

This was our THIRD time staying at the Riu Santa Fe, and we know it won’t be our last. It really is like the adult version of Disney Land. Drinks and food all day, fun and sun. Not to mention the Vegas-like pool parties they throw 4x a week. They have something for everyone, relaxing areas and party areas and water slides! It’s always so hard to go home.
