The Pyramid Cancun: management and service have deteriorated

My husband and I stayed here a year ago. We liked the hotel and everything was fine. A year later, a lot has changed. The staff steals during cleaning! If you're coming here for the first time, don't forget to use the safe if you have valuables or money. When we reported the problem of our expensive items being missing, the manager said, "That's your problem." I also want to point out the bartenders' work; they only respect Mexicans. If I came from Europe, am I lower class or what? This is ridic [... read more]ulous! I'm sorry, it's unpleasant when bartenders only hear Spanish and serve them, even though I was next in line. Grand Oasis Cancun: Unfortunately we won't be coming back

The amenities inntue resort are great. The staff from the activities in the pool are friendly and welcoming. Coffee staff and bar staff are not friendly. Food was ok. Pork and chicken everyday for dinner no fish, salmon barely beef. If you dont have an upgrade to pyramid doesn't seem like they care too much about you. I had money stolen from my room. 4 bills of 50 dollars (second day of my stay) I reported to management, security but they only feed back I hear is, we are looking into it. [... read more] To he honest I dont think they cared.

Grand Oasis Riviera: Not worth it!!

To start with the $125.00 cdn for the environmental fee, ridiculous. The fact they only give you a couple bottles of water and coke in your mini fridge the first day and then you have to pay if you want anymore. Buffet breakfast is terrible, burnt to a crisp bacon everyday. No entertainment at all unless you eat at Mexican restaurant then you can hear a Miriachi band. Grand Oasis Riviera: very nice place

Staying at this resort was nice. Even though 1.30 hr. from airport , we were pleased to observe cleanliness , appreciate the diversity of pools designed and grounds respecting local nature, personnel was accommodating. Restaurants and food well maintained, food not as diverse, sweets do need more improvement ,as well as drinks from bars.

Grand Oasis Riviera: A wonderful relaxing stay.

I recommend the hotel for its beach and restaurants. I would not recommend the Italian restaurant but all others were fantastic. The grounds were very well kept and while some guests valued the regular visits from the local raccoons and coatis in some outdoor dining areas I was not a fan. Staff were very helpful and the day manager Anna was wonderful, helping to arrange something special for my wife and I on our anniversary. I would go back again.

Grand Oasis Riviera: Loved it

Honestly loved our stay. Was truly amazing. Staff was very nice and helpful. Room was amazing, beach was nice pool was nice food was great. Only bad thing i could say was the lack of pool/beach chairs. Could normally find some but two days ended up without but not too big of a deal. Bars opening at 11 seemed a bit late but also not a big problem. Overall loved it, I know it has mixed reviews but I truly don’t have much bad to say at all. Would highly recommend.

Overall, we had a great stay. After reading the reviews, I understand what people mean with their bad experiences. I am not a very picky person, so I take all reviews with a grain of salt. What is bad for some people, isn't necessarily bad for everyone. That being said, we ended up getting an updated room. One side of the resort is updated, while the other isn't. Y [... read more]es, there were some who were absolutely wonderful (mostly at the lobby and coffee bars). But overall, the staff weren't very pleasant. It always seemed like we were bothering the front desk staff - pack your patience. And the rest of the staff barely cared to say hello back to us. The food was good. Nothing spectacular, but average, lots of variety, and we didn't starve. The restaurants were good! The Italian was my favourite ?. The beach was okay. We are used to the beautiful beaches in Cuba, so this was VERY different. And the sargassum came in earlier than usual, which didn't help. Water shoes are a must if you want to go in the water! This was also a pretty quiet resort. Not a lot going on. There were a few daily activities by the pool and some evening entertainment, but nothing over the top. Some tips - if you can bring smaller Mexican pesos ($20 & $50's) for tipping great. But they were only able to exchange some for us once. They say they prefer pesos, but the front desk only have change for US $1. Also, this resort is about a 2 hour bus ride from the airport. Thank you for having us.

The Sens Riviera: Loved this place!

Just the right size with great facilities, rooms, restaurants, and pools. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The timing was a little off as there was a lot of seaweed on the beach for the first few days but the pools were great and never too crowded.

The Sens Riviera: Beautiful Resort but.....

We were pleasantly surprised by the lovely spacious room we received. Even though we requested two beds we were fine with the one large one. Pools, atmosphere and really everything was perfect. Tony and Gastavo went above and beyond with the extracurricular activities. We had so much fun doing watercolor and volleyball with these two. They made Aqua Aerobics really fun and yoga was perfect. We woukd ask for a drink they woukd forget ask again and still not get anything. The day pool and beach bar had one staff and the waits were far too long and sometimes they were there and sometimes not. Didn't know how long would be gone. The fast food restaurant ran out of plates daily. Again one guy who looked like he hated his job and we ended up giving up everyday to try to get something from there. Forget about getting a drink at the buffet you were finished your meal by the time anyone came around. Same with the coffee shop one oetson to service everyone in the morning. Also ypu shoukd have someone vlean uo the seaweed at first we did but then seemed they just gave up. This place could be a 5 star if you just got the staff.

Grand Oasis Cancun: Gran Oasis Hotel

Well, in spite of the fact this hotel has very bad reviews, and we were afraid of them our experience was very positive. Of course, is not a new hotel, rooms look kind of old but they are very functional and also we weren't planning to be inside the room. Food was amazing. Shows and entertainment was super good. Beach is walking distance which is amazing they do not have to much shades and just a few sun seat so we used the big towels they provided to us. Grand Oasis Riviera: Resort needs more staff

Resort grounds are well kept. Lots of places to walk amongst the trees/greenery away from the beach. Resort seem to have way too many guest levels: blue wrist band, black wrist band and clear wrist band. As expected, the color of the band will determine what you have access to. Seems like blue band are the lowest. Plus areas exclusive for Sens, Sian Khan and other... There is no Bacardi rum of any color at any of the bars I visited. Food is a hit and miss. Line-up is everywhere at opening hours for all the restaurants. Beach is very narrow and loaded with sea weeds. They are not removed. Water is o.k. Some rocks here and there. Snorkeling is great. If you are Canadian, a $91 US is payable for a 7 night stay. Watch out...you can only pay it in US dollars or Mexican pesos...What utter B.S. I will not go back.

Grand Oasis Riviera: Truly an amazing stay!

We recently stayed at the Grand Oasis Riviera resort. We had a fabulous week stay. We loved how clean and friendly staff were. The food was very good and lots of options to enjoy. We particularly loved how quiet the resort was. Always somewhere to sit and enjoy a beverage. Our room was on the first floor and our building was very close to the main pool. However just outside the patio doors of our room was a 3.5 foot deep pool and lounge chairs. So most of our time was spent here reading and  [... read more]enjoying the sunshine. We took advantage of the sports bar cafe and enjoyed coffee and snacks from here each day. We have stayed in other resorts in Mexico and found this resort to be by far our favorite. We would definitely stay here again.

Grand Oasis Riviera: Not Great

I did not enjoy my stay. I was charged $2000. In addition to the 3000. I was initially charged for Cuba. I changed because of the Cuba crisis I hoped this resort would be worth $5000. But it was not. The room had air conditioning issues and an actually flooded. We could never get a chair on the beach because people kept putting towels and personal belongings on them during the night and then not actually using the chairs until late afternoon. Grand Oasis Cancun: Amazing but way to big

Excellent hotel beautiful beach and pools. But with the booking we where not able to eat in the restaurants as they where booked for the week and there level that we where booked with was last if there was a space. Never offered the upper levels. So you ate at the buffet for the week. House keeping and bar replenishments where non existent for the week we had to run and ask daily to get towels and water The best part of the vacation was the weather

Grand Oasis Riviera: Very Relaxing and Quiet Resort

First of all we want to thank Beth for all her help with booking our group of 10, she was absolutely amazing!! The Resort was super quiet but nice if you were looking for a relaxing getaway, which we were. We got to stay in the new building furthest from the beach but the rooms were WOW! We had a pool directly off our bottom floor Terrance with our own Sun beds and 4 layout chairs. We had a few issues with the rooms but very quickly fixed up, but we were the first ones staying here. Super cl [... read more]ean, had our own private pool and a full bar which was nice considering we were the farthest from buffet and main pool, but we didn't use the main pool once. All the staff were amazing, some had a bit of a language barrier but very quick to get out google translator and we were good to go! Beach had a lot of coral which wasn't the best for swimming but the guys loved the snorkeling they did. Also a lot of moss on beach. The food and drinks were both top notch, we went to Italian and Mexican restaurants and both were very good. Mike's Coffee bar had amazing iced coffees too We didn't book adult only but we felt as though we did, our pool was perfect and having a bar and pool directly outside your room was a bonus. Our room numbers were 1116, 1117, & 1118 then we had one couple on second floor and one on third, same building. If you go for beach, I would choose a different resort but if you just want to relax at the pool ask for the first building.

Staff were good with guests, May spoke English and only a few did not. Cleanliness NEEDS work. Better description of the resort is required. You must upgrade an additional $400/nt cad to have bacon at the buffet. It’s really 3 resorts on one property. Food variety (there is none). Same food every day but it is cooked well. Only 1 tender at each bar and no blenders for drinks. Had to chase housekeeping to replenish room coffee and floor was not swept once. No option when booking to upgrade to w [... read more]hite or black bracelet. Blue bracelet: access to about 50% bars and restaurants. White: about 75% ($200/nt extra) black: 100% resort access for about $400/nt extra.

Grand Oasis Riviera: Beyond expectations

This hotel seems as though it was plopped down in the center of the jungle. There is plenty of trees, flowers and wildlife to keep you entertained. Our oom was exceptional. First ones in it as it had been newly built. It had all amenities a person would want. His and hers sinks. Toilet separate from the shower which was huge. Out on our patio was our own personal cabana and a pool we shared with 4 other rooms. Outsode of that was the pool for the building and the bar with bartender from the ho [... read more]urs of 10 - 6. It was about a 7 minute walk to get to the restaurants. However for us that was just walking off all the food we over ate. Paths were well lit with lots of fountains. There is a cart that can be called to pick you up if you prefer that. The restaurants had delicious and well prepared foods in both Mexican tradition and European tastes. If you can't find something you like there is always salads, fruit, parfaits, and fresh bread and rolls. The store at the hotel is well stocked with the things we tend to forget about when you are packing. The staff was happy to help, they know customer service. If you need a pick me up stop by the coffee shop. They serve an amazing variety. Try to taste them all. You will also find football and pool tables to keep you entertained The main pool has the kids zone and the taco bar. Dont leave your food unattended the Coati like to steal food if you are not careful. The beach you should be prepared for. There is a lot of reef and rocks to walk around. Take your swim shoes. The staff warned us about urchins as well. Once you get out into that warm and beautiful water you will see all types of aquatic life. Take a snorkel. It is an amazing sight. One we are happy we experienced. Our main downfall other then coming home was not being able to find the sunwing/nexus representative. The hotel has blended the sens and the oasis into one and there are 2 lobbies. We found out the day before we left that the representative is not allowed past the gate and is using a part of the building where u get dropped off at. That is a lobby as well. Our concern was if the representative was needed we couldn't find them. Even the employees at the hotel would not inform you where he/she was. The airport was chaos when we landed but the departure was much better organized. The drive from Cancun is long, be prepared. Overall we loved our stay. To us it was 5 star.
