Super Resort

We thought the resort was amazing, food good, entertainment good, staff and sunwing personnel great, rooms were amazing, my only complaint was not enough shade around the pools and beach, buffet was always busy but food was always replenished at all times, speciallty restaurants good,

Ifa Villas bavaro

I stayed at this hotel for 1 week. It is good price for value considering it is under construction. The grounds are very clean and the food was good. I did get a rash on my legs and also what appears to be mosquito bites but I did not see any bugs. I have heard about sand flies and that could be it, or bed bugs, not sure. It is very uncomfortable and I still have the rash 1 week after coming home. The only thing we did not like about the hotel is the front reception staff and the night shows. T [... read more]he staff at the front desk gave us other people s room and did not aknowledge you or smile or have any client service skills. The nightly show was always the same singer every night. There was always room on the beach and chairs available. The beach is not a quiet place as Ifa has he daily tour boats and local boats right at the beach, so sometimes we hear different kind of music very loudly on top of each other and smell of gas from the motors. I rate it 3 out of 5.

Mediocre Hotel

Not the best not the worst, you get what you pay for. Entrance to the resort was through a residential area which was different. No drinks upon arrival which is not a big deal but a nice touch at other resorts. Lots of bussed arrived at once which made check in fun. Line up for carte meals was long and hard to get reservations. The one restaurant had crap service. Buffet was generally good. Walk to the beach or taking a trolley cart was not ideal. Entertainment at night could have used some vari [... read more]ety other than the people dancing every night. Room was recently renovated but cleaning could have used an improvement. Bed sheets were not changed once over a week, dresser and counter tops were not wiped. Overall, I would spend the couple extra hundred to go somewhere nicer and closer to a beach.

Ifa bavaro BEACH with no beach

The resort itself is great, my room was 1247, far from everything, (15 m walk)but we didnt mind, was big modern and clean. Ala carts were nothing special. Buffet always had a line. Pizza bar was awesome. Anamation was best ever. Generally food is good. A LOT OF CONSTRUCTION...! TOTALLY OBSTRUCTED VIEW OF BEACH, THE BEACH IS WHAT WE PAY FOR RIGHT!?

Great resort

We just returned from IGA Villas Bavaro Beach Resort and we really enjoyed our trip. Our rooms were wonderful (We chose Superior rooms) which were really clean and fairly new. I saw the regular rooms in the older building and they were awful. The buffet was average with not much diversity. It was always the same every day but we did eat at the restaurant à la carte which were great! The beach was not nice, there was lots of boats in the water. Almost seemed like a marina. Very nice resort

The hotel is really nice and the staff is helpful and friendly. It is ~7 minute walk from the reception but they have carts going to and from the beach very often. We did not find this an inconvenience at all. The evening show was AMAZING! I would go back to this resort.

Disappointed

When Greeted at the Hotel the person at the front desk made a rude comment about my name .The people at the front desk were abrupt and not pleasant or welcoming . The glass door in my room were not put on properly and made a loud cracking noise .The sliding door on my closet was off the tract .The food was so so to bad. Good Resort

We work in the hotel business so I know a little on what to expect. We enjoyed the IFA Villas Bavaro during the week of January 20th, 2018. Our rooms where well taken care of by Maria in the main pool, which we nicknamed the Loud Side. She changed our towels daily, cleaned our room and left us water when asked. The resort grounds where spotless, not a speck of garbage to be seen, a few cups here and there but they where quickly picked up. The quiet pool was quiet nice and not very busy. The P [... read more]ikalo Pizza hut was good, we ate there almost every day or the lunch buffet. The breakfast buffet was pretty much the same daily. I am picky so I pretty much had the same thing daily, but there was a lot to choose from, BUT it was never different. We did eat at two of the specialty restaurants that where good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Overall the bedrooms, pool area and the restaurants where very clean and comfy! Only issue I saw was a little mold in the shower area. We did go to the beach one morning but we are more pool people. The only thing regarding the Loud pool is it needed a paint job and handles for those that have trouble walking or the elderly and the quiet pool needed handles also. The only thing that caught my eye as soon as we got off the bus was the staff did not connect with people. This is the first resort that we have ever been to and yes we have been to a few that the staff where like robots, there just to get their pay and not interact with the guests. It was very odd as there was tons of staff around. I feel that if the resort management is to work on the friendliness of the staff, as a genuine smile and OLA goes a long way. As for the food, you make due....oh the booze was a plenty!!!

Mediocre at best

The renovated rooms were nice accommodation beds were comfortable for a change. The pool areas really require updating. The food needs work. We had booked a superior room and we had a three story walk up that had absolutely no hot water and no channels on the tv. And on a normal vacation that would not have been an issue but one of us was very ill and was bed ridden for the first few days. We requested a move and had to ask several times but were eventually moved to the first floor. Where hot wa [... read more]ter was plentiful and a huge array of channels were available. We were looking at the back of a worn out building but having the hot water was worth it I guess? The pool was very much in need of some updating and a paint job. There was construction surrounding the whole complex. So NO direct access to the beach you have to take a real detour or a tram to the beach and not really sure what was available to you once you got there. Ended up paying for water when we finally arrived??? Food was identical every day for lunch and breakfast at the buffet. And the speciality restaurants were really not worth waiting in line for a reservation for, food was reconstructed from the buffets just plated and served to you at your table. Bar staff really don't cater, I always felt like I was interrupting they when I was looking for something to drink whether I tipped or not. When you tip a couple of bucks for two half glasses of beer with no smile just a sort of get lost look it is not encouraging to swim back up for a few more or to hang out around the bar. Don't forget anything on your vacation because the stores within the complex will gouge you with abandon. 6 oz of sunscreen for $19 American. My astonished look caused the two girls behind the counter to break into hysterics. I'm glad I could be there for them. We enjoyed our holiday regardless because we payed good money to spend a week in the sun. So go with eyes open and all will be well. Enjoy your holiday

Great resort!

IFA Villas Bavaro Beach Resorts was a great place to have our week long vacation in the sun. The resort is newly renovated and we loved it. It was so clean and the staff were always so happy and courteous. The only thing that was disappointing was the distance to the ocean, but it was still amazing to be in this paradise. I would recommend this resort to anyone looking for a smaller more quaint resort. Exceeded expectations

I honestly have nothing bad to say about this resort. They are doing construction, but it didn't ruin my experience at all. It just means that your room is New and gorgeous. They are constantly cleaning, the staff are very very friendly and help you quickly. The food and drinks were excellent, and because you can't drink tap water they always had lots of water available. Would definitely go again.

Great resort! IFA BAVARO

The food was awesome.Lots of variety.Staff was excellent.Our room was great.Besides a little drip from the ceiling when it was raining it was great.The building we were in and I think 4 others are original from the 1990's.They have to be renovated like the windows etc.60% have been renovated.The shows at night were incredible.The stage was unbelievable.Lots of screens.I would go back in a heart beat.In our beach area there were lots of weeds.

Just so so

We had a great trip, very hot, the rooms we were in were renovated, we were there in 2006 or 7 >Liked it much better will not be returning, The worst thing of the trip was the Pearson airport coming back, it was crazy busy, so next time I will travel through Hamilton airport. Thanks Karen

Nothing amazing for the price

I was a bit disappointed in this resort and would not travel here again. Beach was not groomed well..tonnes of seaweed on beach. Not much entertainment during the day, the entertainment board showed lots of activities but they do not do all the things advertised on board. Long walk to get anywhere. Food was not good. Not many English guests or employees...would not recommend this resort! We had NO running water our second to last day of trip and NO HOT WATER final day of trip.

Nice trip

Not a bad resort. Fook OK but a bit boring. The a la carte restaurants are quite bad. Drinks OK but made with powder mixes that are overly sweet. Stick with beer. The only decent cup of coffee is at tha Café Dominican and they don't open untill 8:00 AM. Staff are mostly good but some are a bit surly and cranky. Jorje at the front desk is VERY GOOD. Got a massage which was nice. Pools are nice and one is quiet and the other is lively so it is good for everyone. Servers at pool bars are very nice. Villa rooms are far from the beach. All in all pretty good place as long as you get it for a good price. Very popular with Europeans.

Beautiful beach

This smaller low key resort is situated on the most amazing beach in punta cana on Bavaro beach. Although the IFA is not your typical mega resort it still buzzes with things to do daily and a show in the theatre every night,although it should change the entertainment a little as some of the same music was there when we were there two years ago. The food although palatable was very limited not a lot of selection but still tasted good.,one buffet and one beach buffet for lunch which made trekking  [... read more]for a drink a little far but it still was good. The people in the Dominican are very genuine and friendly the service in and around the resort was excellent.

Resort in decline

Where to start: This resort is rated at around 4 stars and shoud be downgraded to 2 stars at best. We stayed Jan 18, 2015 to Jan. 25, 2015 and were a group of 9 Adults and 2 infants. 7 of the 9 including the 2 babies got a virus that had us very Ill for 2 or more days and after chatting with many of the other guests on the resort it was affecting many others to the point where it became mandatory to use hand sanitiser(Purell) when entering the buffet Restaurant. Seen kids being held over garbage [... read more] cans being ill. Now about the Resort: Staff for the most part were fairly friendly. Most of our group were housed in the villas and although they appeared nice from the outside they were far from it once inside. Leaking or non working AC's lots of mold on the shower stalls and no ventelation for the washroom areas left the rooms with a musty/moldy smell. One of the couples we were with had to argue to be moved, 2 times for no working AC and a 3rd time for AC water leaking all over the floors. We asked to be moved twice to the Hotel because the mold was affecting my breathing/sinuses and had to bribe the front desk in or to get into one of the hotels with were much more recently renovated but far from Fancy. No face clothes, tissues and the worst Beds I have ever slept in. The food was not great and they often sprayed Pesticides just before the food was taken out in the buffet restaurant. The booze was watered down, but at least nightly stage shows were good. Upon leaving everyone at least 3 checkpoints with long lines at the Airport and forced to pay $20 per person(even for Babies) Everyone we spoke to on the plane ride home were happy just to be returning to Canada, how much fun does it sound like we had.
