Very cute small resort, perfect for families with young kids as they cannot go far out of your site. The hotel has amazing kids activities and the staff were incredible.
There is an issue with space in the pool as there really is only one pool with a small "hot tub" that apparently is supposed to be adults only but honestly the kids hang out in it. There was NOT enough seats arpund the pool or beach. Everythjng was saved for preferred. If you went over to their pool they had almost double the [... read more]amount of seats.
Beach was beautiful, white sand, they have a barrier so the waves and seaweed do not enter the swimming area. Swimming area is very shallow.
The room was good, lots of space- the "pull out couch" though was not great, hard on one side soft on the other and the bottom half would slide apart.
The food was okay, the restaurants were good but the buffet was mediocre at best- always the same foods and it was a small buffet. We always tried to get to a restaurant but if you didn't show up right at 6 or just before 6 it was 1.5 hours wait to get a table. Some of the evening entertainment was awesome! Some were mediocre.
Im not sure we would return here. But my kids had a great first all inclusive vacation.

Well Short of Expectations
Background
My wife and I travel often and stay at many resorts. We are easygoing guests. We do not walk into a room looking for issues or take photos of every small problem. We look for a good overall experience and understand things happen.
This stay fell short of expectations for the price point and star rating. We will not return.
What Worked Well
Transportation, check in, and check out ran smoothly.
The staff stood out as the best part of the resort. Every team member we met w[... read more]orked hard and treated guests with care.
Staff stayed pleasant and responsive even during busy times. When we reported issues, they acted fast and tried to help each time. Their effort and attitude deserve recognition and was the only bright spot.
Room Issues
The room had several maintenance problems.
The bed did not have a fitted sheet. The sheet kept coming loose through the night, which left us waking up on the bare mattress. For a resort in this price category, basic bedding is an expectation.
The toilet had a weak flush and often clogged (which was a common issue for other guests as well). The safe also stopped working more than once.
The resort relies heavily on its mobile app for service requests. We logged maintenance issues through the app multiple times during our stay. Staff responded each time to repair the problem quickly. After several visits for the same issues, however, the situation became frustrating.
Seating and Common Areas
Seating across the resort created one of the largest frustrations.
There were not enough loungers or chairs at the pool, beach (or even seats in the lobby). Guests who did not wake early to reserve spots by the pool or beach had few options, or none at all. I say this even though we are early risers and did not have this issue, but for those who like to sleep in you will be disappointed or feel pressured to set an alarm.
The lobby layout adds to the issue. The space feels cramped, and the bar and café area has limited seating. They have one bartender and one barista to serve a large number of guests, which slowed service through no fault of the staff.
For a resort in this category, having loungers for guests is expected.
Noise at the Pool
The pool area stays extremely loud for most of the day.
Our trip focused on a couples getaway. We enjoy a fun atmosphere and have no issue with activities or music.
The level of constant noise made rest difficult. Organized games, announcements, and loud music ran through most of the day. Guests who want a quieter environment or a nap during the afternoon will struggle.
Food and Dining
Food created the largest disappointment of the trip.
For the price and star rating, the dining experience fell far below expectations. We have stayed at many comparable resorts and expected a much higher level of consistency.
Specialty restaurants delivered uneven, poor or barely edible meals.
After a few attempts we returned to the buffet, which normally serves as the backup option at most resorts. We hoped for more reliable meals there.
The biggest concern involved illness. Several members of our group became sick during the stay from the food. We travel often and follow safe eating habits when abroad. We also spoke with other guests who reported similar issues.
Final Thoughts
The staff work hard and deserve credit for their effort and professionalism.
Outside of the service, the resort fell short in several key areas including room quality, seating availability, noise management, and food.
For the price point and star rating, expectations were much higher. Based on this experience, we will choose another resort for future trips.

Disappointed ☹️
This was our second time to this resort. We returned because our first trip here in 2022 was amazing. However things have gone terribly downhill. First our bed was so uncomfortable, and our pillows were horrendous! We ended putting our pillow cases on the decorative pillows and using them. The food was also not good! Which blows my mind as dreams hotels are usually stellar, but I this is the first stay at one since Hyatt took over. We had the steak at the Italian restaurant and it was like a jel[... read more]ly mush, like zero texture, it was so bad we just walked out of the restaurant and went up town to eat. The swimming area was also disappointing, the sand has washed out of the manmade area and it is now shallow and sharp rock bottomed. I love spending time in the water - not here.

Great resort!
Overall great place. Great staff, great food and drinks.
Areas of improvement could be the beach sand which is hard and rocky. Pillows in rooms were terrible. Musty smell in our room. Decorative ropes hanging in rooms could be eliminated.

Wonderful for Kids, but Not Great for Adults
Not recommended for adults without kids but great for families. The resort is small. There were 5 restaurants for dinner, with one closing once per week, so that really limited our choices. The buffet served breakfast and lunch only. The Japanese restaurant was being renovated so the buffet restaurant served as the Japanese restaurant at supper time. However, we got there one night to enjoy Japanese food only to see that the World Cafe (buffet) was closed down. There was a big "official" note on[... read more] the door, in Spanish, that basically said the restaurant was closed due to "sanitation" problems. We scrambled to get a seat for dinner at another restaurant and when we were done, noticed that the buffet had re-opened (in less than 1 1/2 hours). We were told there were sanitation code violations in the kitchen which were since rectified.
Also, worth noting, is that there are "leaks" in the buffet restaurant and window ledges in the hallways. These were not patched up but towels simply placed everywhere to dry up the water leaks.
No gardening staff outside at all so many of the trees/shrubs had many dead leaves on them. World Cafe had dead plants inside along the window ledge. Not a good sign when you see this - makes you wonder what they are hiding.
The staff were amazing. They made our stay better because of it.
However, for the reasons above, we won't be back

Dreams but not dreams
Grounds nice, landscaping could be better, rooms are clean, beds comfortable, service good. Hotel inside is very poor; in the hallway is only 5-7 tables to sit; if it rains guests stay in their rooms. Early flight no coffee, no food provided; not organized at all. Line ups for food, they wait for guest to tell how many pieces of chicken of fish in the mean time people pile up waiting in long lines. Buffet was only breakfast and lunch, for dinner you have to go to restaurant of your choice and wa[... read more]it to be served for hours. I am not exaggerating; this is for real. Unbelievable!!! Very disappointing with the choice this time, never again.

Always under construction
Pool was nice but swim up closed for 2 days for construction.
Beach was nice but very rocky once in water.
Food was delicious but some restaurants closed including buffet during our 10 days stay. No notice in advance as to which would be closed each day. Even music/sports bar closed two nights. Front desk didn't even know.
There was construction somewhere in the complex for almost all of our vacation. and we were never notified at time at complex nor when booking (through our agent).

First room had great location - especially for sitting with a coffee and watching sun rise. Got moved a few days in - told there was a water issue close to our room - second room was supposed to be an upgrade but it wasn't. Room was identical but ceiling was cracked, lamp shades were stained, view was blocked by trees and floor never got washed (in bathroom) for the entire stay. All that was good was the clean towels daily.

Great resort.
We were two couples who went for a 2 week stay. We had been there previously 15 years ago. The other couple had not.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.....loved the fact that you didn't have to book for the a la carte restaurants.
Upon arrival, our rooms were to have been with king size beds and we were initially in rooms with 2 double beds. However, as soon as they were able to change us over, which was 2 days later we had our rooms with king size beds.
The other couple had an issue with th[... read more]eir air conditioning and that too was rectified.
We partificpated in various activities and noted that their entertainment in the evenings was much better than any other all inclusive we have been to.
Overall it was a great vacation!
The hotel was very good--not new but met all our needs. Air conditioning good. There was alit of moisture in the air that left clothes feeling damp.
Entertainment every night that met each age groups needs.
Restaurants very good! They were able to accommodate my daughters gluten allergy.
Staff pleasant and helpful.
Lots oof free water sports.
Beach area mod size. Enclosed in with partial barriers to control waves.
I would have preferred a larger open beach.

Great trip and awesome service.
We appreciated the family atmosphere and activities this resort provided. The family pool was heated and close to the ocean and rooms. The restaurants were all within a good distance and provide a selection that kept us satisfied for 9 days. The area outside the resort was safe for our young family to walk or rent a golf cart from the hotel.
Kids were entertained by activities, including daily dolphin shows.

Great trip, okay resort
Mexico = awesome, resort = just okay.
There was some great things about this resort that we loved but I think the cons weighed out the benefits.
Pros:
1. Amazing and friendly staff who actually remember you and take time to chat with you.
2. They had daily dolphin shows.
3. There was a rock barrier on a part of the beach which blocked off predator fish so smaller fish would stay in there giving you the opportunity to swim with fish.
4. They had a bar on the side of the ocean with s[... read more]wings - enough said!
5. Mexican food in room service or in Mexican restaurant was really food.
Cons:
1. Rooms were damp and musty, they smelled bad, lamp shades were rusted, sitting on furniture you would get up and your bum would be wet. We complained after two days and they brought a dehumidifier which we appreciate but it only helped so much. We had paid extra for preferred club so I also do feel like we should have been more accommodated then just being given a dehumidifier.
2. Beds were small and uncomfortable, the rooms with a king size bed were sold out so we got a room with two queens but they weren’t queens they were twins and the bed were hard, the pillows were like bricks.
3. The resort was run down, elevators needing maintenance daily. Lights often didn’t work, at one point the lights didn’t work in the room and they spent an hour fixing it. They shower head often wouldn’t work, had to play around with it for 20 mins to get a shower, we didn’t complain about this because we honestly were getting tired of having to complain and waiting around to get things fixed.
4. Disorganized - bars that were supposed to be open until 11pm would close randomly at 6pm for no reason. There aren’t many bars to begin with so this was really annoying. They also don’t really have a good spot to hold events so they would hold them at the oceanic restaurant which was next to the adults pool and bar so that means Tuesday and Friday’s they would close this at 4pm. That also means if you want to see the show you have to eat at the oceanic restaurant (and if you want a guaranteed seat you need to buy a bottle of wine). On Tuesday when they had one show they would close the buffet and on Fridays for the other show they would close the Mexican restaurant so if you had no interest in the show that means 2/5 restaurants for dinner weren’t an option. It may seem like a small thing but when your paying for an all inclusive resort with 5 restaurants you want all the options available to you. Especially if you end up not liking one of the restaurants.
5. Very small beach.
6. Besides the Mexican food the other food was not great, not bad but not really good.
While I really enjoyed my time and appreciate the staffs friendly outgoing attitude I think they need to get better management and give the whole place a renovation to address these issues. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Above Average Service
As return customers to the Dreams chain we were excited to visit despite some less than positive reviews. Turns out some of the negativity was warranted. Keeping in mind this is the oldest resort in the dreams chain most drawbacks were made up for with exemplary service and attention to detail. This resort is definitely showing its age as the rooms are musty and in poor shape but very clean. Our standouts for service were Ronnie and Nataniel at the front entrance, Edgar in the Seaside Grill and [... read more]Julian at the World Cafe, they made our stay. Giuliano with the VIP Club was amazing as well, so helpful. It turned out to be a great vacation with the help of these key people, they more than made up for any shortcomings the hotel had. Would I return here probably not unless the pricing was adjusted to reflect the state of the resort. My bottom line here is that the resort needs a very strong investment by the AM Group or to be sold off to another chain.

Amazing staff...outdated hotel
The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. The resort is very dated...although clean. We were expecting more as other hotels in this chain are very upscale...this is a 3 star hotel with 5 star staff. Food...buffet and al a carte...was just ok...not hot...just warm. Location is good for walking g around the marina with the shops and bars...but far from anywhere else. Included golf comes with many fees...was cheaper to book on golf app.

Nice resort - bad beach
If you are a beach lover then pass on this one! Due to the high amount of seaweed we were unable to use the beach. Not happy as I am allergic to the swimming pools due to the chlorine.
Not much to do in the evenings after the show.

Perfect Wedding
This resort makes dreams happen for a fantastic wedding. It was above and beyond what we were expecting. They treat all guests with pure respect and very genuine. All staff in any and all departments were phenomenal. The customer service and the service was exceptional throughout our stay, The beach was full of seaweed but that cannot be helped - its been a rough year no matter where you go. The staff was removing it as fast as it was coming in-the pools were perfect

Where wedding dreams come true.
My youngest sister brought along 28 of us to wed her long time boyfriend at the Dreams Puerta Aventuras in Mexico. This resort excels in service and weddings. Many in our family have backgrounds in hotel restaurant mgt., catering and culinary arts. We were treated to a smooth and faultless 2 days of wedding ceremonies. The decor, buffets, service and staff were exceptional. I found myself many taking pictures of the food, wedding facilities, and decor for future reference. If you are plann[... read more]ing a destination wedding, this is the place to go. The seeweed was out of control despite the resorts best efforts to provide a clean beach. Thankfully Mexican waterfront is public and we walked a few minutes away or had a free resort driver take us to another location to swim after our shopping tour. By the way the snorkling was par none. A tremendous variety of exotic fish, including Baracuda, sting rays, jellyfish, lobster all in 6 foot deep water.

Nice resort - very family oriented.Limited sandy beach area
The grounds were good. The adult area was exceptional. The service was great in all the areas with regards to friendliness cleanliness, and the employees doing the bars, rooms and restaurants were great. The front desk team need some customer service training.
When we entered the resort, the first stop is the security. As we had used Canada Transfers, the person working security informed our driver our room was 639. Of course, knowing how room numbers are most often numbered, we knew this was a[... read more]n upper floor.
When we got to the front desk, the receptionist told us we were on the ground floor as we booked the deal of the day package? We explained that we would prefer an upper floor room. He said that would be an upgrade. For ocean view, it would be $400 US. By the way, the ocean view overlooks the 2 kids pools and the bars and restaurants...not much ocean. As we were not ready to shell out $800 US for the ocean view, we elected the dolphin view which overlooks the adult area and the containment area for the dolphins. This was only $160 US. We took this and they said to come back to the front desk in about 2 hours for our room information
As our room wasn't ready yet, they said we would have to wait which was understandable as we had arrived early. They told us we could use the bars and restaurants. When we went to the restaurant, we gave the hostess our name and told them that our room wasn't ready yet. She found our name and said that we were room 639.It seems odd that in 2 areas where we had contact with other areas that we already had a room assignment that matched but the front desk had other plans? We paid the $160 US just to get on with the holiday...When our room was assigned, we were given room 639. As we said this wasn't an upgrade, as numerous areas already told us that we had this room, they re-assigned us to room 635. Only difference they said was a king size bed. Don't get me wrong, the rooms are very nice and comfortable.
Later in the week, because we had made a bit of a fuss over paying for the upgrade, we had a call from the front desk and said that they would like to see us. On the same day when we returned to our room in the late afternoon, we turned on the TV. The picture was gone and was just coloured lines running up and down it. it was an LG flat screen and about 46". As we don't watch much TV, and we had to see the front desk as requested, we figured we would hold off and mention the issue with the TV at that time.
When we went to the front desk, the manager came out and offered us the usage of the lounge on the 7th floor as a benefit for the upgrade for the last 4 nights of our stay. She then went on to say that we broke the TV as it was reported by the turn down service. She said that we had either punched the TV or we had pulled it off the wall. As a note, we are 60 years old and not ones who get rowdy or even drunk. I was very upset with this and they even informed us that we would be paying $600 US to replace the TV we broke. Of course, we got into a debate with the manager at the time and ended up not having to pay for the TV. But the manager did say that in that case, the maid would have to pay for it?
When we went back to our room that evening, we noticed that in the lower right corner of the TV, there was a perfect circle in the screen. There was no visible damage or holes but a perfect circle in the area.
The key point in the review is that the front desk and the staff in this area really need to work on their customer service. This is the first people you meet and they are the first face you remember. As the rest of the staff, they are amazing and are always friendly and work very hard. This is the people who do the rooms, servers, hostesses, bartenders.
As for the beach, and we were well aware of the issue with the seaweed. We as tourists are the primary cause of it. I wouldn't complain about it. It is what it is and anyone traveling there should be aware of it in the first place.
