Loved this place

We really enjoyed this place!!! The food and service and location was amazing. If you want a beach, they don’t have much of one at the resort, but we knew that going in. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone who asks.

Amazing Resort

This hotel was awesome! Very clean, the best customer service and the food was delicious. There isn’t really a beach in the property. However, there is a public beach beside it. I prefer the pool and loved it. Everyday there were activities going on at the pool and every night there was entertainment. The staff were amazing. Very helpful and friendly. It was very close to the markets and bars etc. We were able to walk around each night with no worries.

Not all it’s cracked up to be

We did enjoy our stay but it was not the same as it was 2 yrs ago The food in the buffet was recycled every single day from dinner to breakfast from breakfast to lunch and lunch to dinner Same crap every day . The only restaurant we went to was Brasso steak house The steak was good but way under cooked and had to send it back As for smokers there is no designated area on the street in front of hotel no chairs or benches and no ashtrays They made us feel like criminals I found the st [... read more]aff was not as welcoming as our previous time except for Lydia at the coffee shop still amazing lady Wait staff was horrible stacks of plates before they would pick it up and we were great tippers , and the beach sucks If you just want to lay on a cot the water was rocky and slimy I would recommend going else where When our flight got delayed they said have a nice day but we have no room for you they need to take a lesson from the staff and cooks at the moon palace where Sunwing sent us because of a 2 day delay , they sure do know how to cook and treat people, the wait staff would bend over backwards for you

Party Central

Great hotel if you don’t want ocean beach to lay on and are into social gatherings and like to party. Very nice staff, very clean and spacious junior suite room, food is average, but again, there was no ocean/beach front to lay on - you only have the pool. The advertising of this resort is a lie.

19th Time

Great staff as always, reason we keep returning. Exceptionally clean throughout. Food better than before. Almost no beach now, Music at the pool is usually for 18-20 age group, very few there. Background music in the lobby bar is the same beat 24 seven? BIGGEST PROBLEM Outside pool bar hours 11am - 07pm only. Forced to be in the loud boom boom lobby bar at night with loud shows, drunk loud people. Have been lobbying for years to keep the pool bar open until 11 pm (like it used to be ) n [... read more]o such luck ??? Many people upset at that, most want to be outside on vacation not stuck inside with the afore mentioned situation. Will not return Will we return, probably, only because we have known a lot of the staff for 17 years.

Whyndham altra was a huge disappointment and sunwing selling and advertising queen beds yet the hotel does not have one room with queen beds My agent at trip central is awsome and he's trying to help get our money returned Been one headache after another

Nice place

Nice hotel, great service. Employees are really nice. Bedroom are nice with good mattress. Great sushi restaurant.Downside no beach and not enough seating place around the pool and general area. I would go back.

Great Place

We stayed for 10 days at the beginning of March. The location is excellent. One block from 5th avenue. The resort was clean, staff was friendly, food was excellent whether you went to the a la carte or buffet, and the rooms were spacious. We had no problem booking a la carte restaurants. We went to the restaurants 6 out of the 10 nights. One night we did the romantic lobster dinner. Highly recommend to pick the gazebo option. We went at 6:30 which was a perfect time to watch the sun go d [... read more]own. There are only a few downfalls to this resort. One is there isn't much of a beach and you can't swim in front of the resort because of the rock. If you walk one minute down the beach there is a nice swimmable area. There are no umbrellas at the beach so no shade if you are sitting in loungers unless you can somehow chase the shade under a tree, which are few. The pool area isn't the best. One side of the pool is filled with very crowded lounge chairs and the other half of the pool has cabanas that you have to rent at a costly daily fee. Tip - the cabanas on the beach that don't have a reserved number on them are first come. No charge.

Great experience

The resort was very clean and maintained. Excellent service. Very close to 5th Avenue and other attractions. Food was good overall. The resort is an ideal size so walking to the rooms are nearby. Would recommend. The resort is almost on the beach, but is quite rough so I would not recommend swimming.

Wonderful resort

Very clean, has attentive staff, excellent food choices and quality. A great location right in the middle.of Playa Del Carmen. The rooms are large and look very nice. The little beach is also very nice and kept clean regularly.

Really nice resort!

First time in Playa Del Carmen, and first time at Wyndham Alltra. Resort is a boutique hotel with really nice amenities. Only 3 specialty restaurants, but can have dinner every night at these restaurants. Most resorts only let you book 3 nights with specialty restaurants. Pool is really nice, but have to wake up early to get sun beds. Beach is rocky. Beach at the north end of resort is nicer, but still rocky. Walked a few steps to Hilton next door or Grand Hyatt for sandy Beach an [... read more]d free of Seaweed. Night entertainment is average. All employees are friendly and willing to help. Beach towels were not available one afternoon.

Our favourite for a reason

Good food, friendly staff, great service, great location. One of our favourite destinations for all these reasons The only glitch was that our room was not available upon arrival. They gave us a one night upgrade -which was ready and waiting- and moved us at our convenience. Other than that minor inconvenience, another great stay. We’ll be back.

Adult Only Resort ???

18th time at this resort, ( Gran Porto Real - Panama Jacks ) The staff is amazing, the food up & down, no beach anymore. Junior suits are spacious & lovely. Nice size pool, hot jacuzzi, very nice sushi bar & small pool. Two minute walk to 5th ave, shops & restaurants etc. The outside pool bar 11am - 7pm !!! Adult Only Resort ? Each year, NEVER disappointed!

This is our third year staying at this resort~ it was Panama Jack’s for the first. Each and every year, the Wyndham Alltra in Playa del Carmen is improved upon, and their standards are impeccable. The beauty of the rooms, the cleanliness of the pools, the delicious cuisine, the little ‘extras’ provided, the entertainment, and the sheer effort to have the highest standards for the guests, is impressive. Don’t go here!

This resort smalls so bad from all the Rotten seaweed, that washes ashore. You can smell it as soon as you enter the resort. The resort has no beach the swimming pool is small and there is never any chairs and as soon as you arrive, they hit you with timeshares for the Hilton. The bars don’t open and will not serve you until after 11 o’clock. The Buffay is small and has the same food almost every meal. 2 Star at best

Standard rooms are so tiny. No windows for natural light other then the shower window in some. There wasn't a place to even put our suitcase. The toilet backed up overflowing sewage all over our room. Desk manager offered to switch out the toilet that would be a 4 hour job or switch to another standard room but it wasn't clean yet so we would have to wait hours for cleaning. I packed all our belongings walking through 2 inches of sewage water. Tears streaming down my face in pure frustration. Ma [... read more]nagement idea of a resolution was a 25 minute massage with the signage of a social media silence disclaimer. I felt this was a huge slap in the face. I wasn't looking for any compensation only for the resort managers to do better for the guest.

Great location!!

Location was amazing and staff was amazing. We got a standard room and it was a little room in a corner, nowhere to put our luggage. If you are going here upgrade your room. Buffet was small and not much options. You need to be up very early to get a chair as there is not enough and people reserve by 6am and door come back down until 10am. There is no beach and the little beach on the north corner is rocky. So if you love beach then this is not the place for you. Amazing reasirt

Absolutely loved the Wyndham alltra playa del carmen resort. The staff were super friendly, the room was excellent, the buffet and AL a carte restaurants were excellent. The public areas were very clean. Highly recommend

Beautiful resort

The rooms are spectacular, outside the grounds are really clean. Everything well maintained. The staff is awesome and very helpful. The food is not bad but always the same all week. Need to change that for me to go back. The pool and beach are good.

Wyndham Alltra Playa Del Carmen

This hotel is a perfect size with amazing staff! Very close to 5th Avenue for any shopping needs. The food is abundant and always fresh. If you would like something different and can't find it in the ample buffet just ask the chef & he/she will try their best to accomodate your request. The only complaint I would mention is the lack of lounge chairs around the pools. It's a race every morning to get chairs.
