Positives - Close to airport. Nice hotel/grounds well kept. Modern clean rooms/amazing cold AC/convenient room key bracelet. No towel shortages. Awesome cafe for coffees and snacks. Great entertainment daily. No sargassum/beautiful beach.
Negatives - Moldy smell in room/no exhaust fan in bathroom/app for restaurant reservations didn't work/wasn't resolved (we managed to book some). Bottled water restocking issues. Some food/drink shortages. Pool water too warm. Not enough beach chairs/umbrella[... read more]s. Smell of sewage on beach. Public toilets broken daily. Guests leaving food unattended attracting lots of birds.
Overall, good experience but not worth the price we paid. Hotel could be great with better all around management addressing key issues.

Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun: Unfortunately, our second visit was a completely different experience.
We first visited Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun in September 2024 as Diamond Club guests, staying in a two-bedroom ocean-view suite with three adults and three children. That first experience was exceptional. From the accommodations to the service, food, amenities and overall attention to detail, we honestly could not have been more impressed.
We loved the resort so much that we decided to return in August 2026—and this time brought additional family with us. Our group grew to 11 guests. We b[... read more]ooked a two-bedroom Diamond Club oceanfront suite for four adults and three children, as well as an additional Diamond Club suite for two adults and two children.
Unfortunately, our second visit was a completely different experience.
What was once a resort we couldn't stop recommending became a frustrating and disappointing stay, particularly when it came to service and attention to detail.
Our issues started immediately upon arrival. We checked in around 8:00 p.m., yet it took more than an hour for our luggage to be delivered to our room. Throughout the stay, basic room items such as coffee pods and coffee cups were repeatedly not restocked, requiring us to contact our Diamond Club concierge. The room-service ordering system through the TV also wasn't working properly, so once again we had to contact the concierge just to place orders.
One example that sums up the level of service was a request for an iron. According to our WhatsApp conversation with the concierge, we requested one at 6:34 p.m. on our second night. By 7:28 p.m., nearly an hour later, it still had not arrived and we had to follow up again. These may seem like small things individually, but when you are paying for a Diamond Club experience, constantly having to chase down basic services becomes frustrating very quickly.
Much more concerning was the handling of our four-year-old son's serious food allergies to egg, dairy and nuts. Despite explaining his allergies and requesting an appropriate meal at the buffet, we waited approximately an hour and ultimately left without the requested meal ever arriving. For a family resort, we expected much greater attention and communication when dealing with a young child's food allergies.
The atmosphere around the resort had also changed considerably since our first visit. There was relentless solicitation throughout the property—photography sales, spa/massage sales, excursions, people walking around with parrots and other birds for paid photos, and other sales pitches. Instead of feeling like a relaxing premium resort, we often felt like we were constantly being approached to spend additional money.
There were also significant renovations and disruptions during our stay. Approximately half of the buffet area was under construction. The Diamond Club check-in lounge was under renovation and had been relocated to a secluded conference area. Water slides were periodically closed for repainting, and we experienced resort-wide power outages on multiple days during our stay.
We were also disappointed to discover that the Cave restaurant experience now came with a mandatory additional charge of approximately $65 USD because a themed show had been attached to the dining experience. For an all-inclusive Diamond Club stay, these types of additional mandatory charges were disappointing.
What makes this review difficult to write is that we genuinely loved Royalton Splash after our first visit. Our 2024 stay was everything we wanted in a family vacation. We were so impressed that we returned two years later, upgraded to an oceanfront Diamond Club suite and brought additional family members with us because we wanted them to experience what we had experienced.
Unfortunately, they didn't.
We understand that resorts undergo renovations, equipment needs maintenance and occasional service issues happen. We don't expect perfection. But the number of issues we experienced over the course of this stay—from housekeeping and room service to food-allergy handling, construction, amenity closures, power interruptions and constant solicitation—was far beyond an isolated inconvenience.
The biggest disappointment was seeing how much the overall level of service and guest experience seemed to have declined between our September 2024 visit and August 2026.
Our first stay made us want to return and bring our family with us. Our second stay has unfortunately made us question whether we would return at all.
We truly hope Royalton Splash takes guest feedback seriously and restores the level of service and attention to detail that made our first visit so memorable.

Royalton Habana: Don’t do it.
It’s not lost on me what the Cuban people are going through and this review is in no way a reflection of the staff. That being said, it’s disgraceful what this hotel charges and how they claim to be a 5 star hotel. The pool was ice cold, and there was often no clean towels. The coffeemaker in the room never had coffee available and no power point to plug it in. It’s like it was there for decor. Bottled water wasn’t refreshed each day and many food/wine items at the restaurants weren’t available[... read more]. I have a laundry list of issues from my stay and I understand the socioeconomic issues Cuba faces, but please don’t stay here. If you must travel to Havana, please stay at a private residence. You’ll have a much better experience and potentially save hundreds of dollars and you’ll actually support the Cuban people. This hotel was a joke.

Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: Not a good hotel for family
I stayed at this hotel from August 18 to August 26 with my wife and two daughters, and unfortunately, the experience did not match the 4.5-star rating at all.
The biggest disappointment was the food. There was very little variety, and many of the dishes were served cold. The selection of fruits and pastries was also very limited and not what I would expect from a hotel in this category.
The restaurants were extremely hot because the air conditioning was not working properly. It was honestl[... read more]y very uncomfortable to sit and eat, especially with children. During the first two days, all four of us were badly affected by the heat, which made the beginning of our family vacation very difficult.
The pool was another disappointment. The water was very warm, so it was not refreshing at all and did not help with the heat.
The room itself was acceptable, but the TV and internet were unreliable and did not work properly.
Overall, I expected much better based on the hotel’s rating and reputation. I would not consider this a true 4.5-star experience, and I would personally rate it around 2.5 to 3 stars. I would not recommend this hotel to families with children or to anyone who cares about food quality, comfort, and reliable amenities.

Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: Very average
Overall, I would rate this resort three out of five stars, rather than four point five. While the room itself was decent, the overall experience was disappointing. The food had very little variety, and most meals were served cold. Fruit options were limited and not very good in quality. Housekeeping mostly just, tidied up rather than properly cleaning. The floors and bathroom were often not cleaned well. The Wi-Fi was unreliable and kept disconnecting, and the in-room TV internet rarely worked. [... read more]One of the biggest issues was the pool. The water was extremely warm, which made it uncomfortable to swim, especially in the heat.
Overall, I had much higher expectations, and I don’t think this hotel deserves a 4.5-star rating. I personally wouldn’t stay here again, and I would recommend that anyone who values good food, cleanliness, and reliable amenities consider other options.
They only positive experience was the staff. They were very nice and friendly and they try their best to help.
The Royalton Chic was a nice fairly small resort. Easy to navigate around. Loved that it was a quick ride from the airport. We stayed in standard room, was small but clean. Housekeeping was great. Food was good but buffet was always the same. They did run out of some food and drinks at times especially at the food truck and pool and beach bar. But always something else you could get. Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: Royal Bávaro — Aug. 26 ? | Our 6th Visit + Current Thoughts
We’ve been to Royal Bávaro six times now, so I thought I’d share my current thoughts on the resort. Overall, it’s still a fun family resort with lots to do, great room options, and the convenience of being oceanfront and all-inclusive.
? PROS
• Lots to do: lazy river, FlowRider, shallow wading pool, mini water park, mini putt and playground.
• Food available throughout the day: two food trucks, outdoor grill, pizza window and Diamond Club food options.
• Great room options: one-bedroom s[... read more]uites and swim-up rooms are available, and the couches convert into pull-out beds — great for families.
? CONS
• Rooms are starting to feel rundown: our room had no alarm clock, the shower barely drained, and there was rust on some of the cupboards.
• Menus have changed: unfortunately, three of my personal favourite meals have been removed. ?
• Dinner reservations: can be frustrating and difficult to get. Diamond Club definitely helps with this. Also very warm inside the restaurants
• Nightly entertainment: not a ton happening in the evenings, especially for kids.
• Pool maintenance: we noticed quite a few broken/missing pool tiles. We also seen a young boy needing stitches after cutting his toe in the pool, which was concerning.
• Tons of seaweed. Obvi that can’t be controlled but there was nothing being done to try and tidy the beach.
? FINAL THOUGHTS
After six visits, I’d still say Royal Bávaro is a fun family resort with a lot to offer.
That said, I do feel like some areas of the resort are starting to show their age, and there are a few things I’d love to see improved.
Would we come back? Probably yes. The overall experience, location, activities and family-friendly setup keep bringing us back. ❤️?
We had an Oceanview Jr. Suite in the Diamond Club Hideaway section (adults only). The hotel is close to the Cancun airport and easily accessible. The hotel is grand and contemporary in style, without excess bling. The spa is excellent as are the food options. The entertainment was less interesting, but the poolside afternoons were lovely. Great service from all. Unfortunately the beach was not attractive, with much sargasso, despite efforts to clean it, the water appears dirty.

Royalton Splash Punta Cana: Amazing Family Resort for littles!
This was our first family trip with our 4 year old and 1 year old and Royalton Splash Punta Cana did not disappoint. There was always somwthing to do for both kids, whether it was the pool, the beach, or the water park. The rooms were fabulous and well maintained. Only thing that could be fixed was the showers did not drain well and would leak from the side to the floor. The restaurants were delicious and service was impeccable, particularly at the Mexican Restaurant. Overall, amazing trip and w[... read more]e would come back with family/friends!

Royalton CHIC Antigua: Horrendous management
Did our group of 8 have fun? Yes. Did we encounter some BS... yes. The staff is great. Under staffed though... so they run out of drinks at the pool bar all the time, and cant get drinks you wanted. Made reservations for dinner, then get told they have no food other than fish. Were we able to eat yes...eat what we want? No. Room serviced called 3x... how many times did they show up? 0. Had to call and yell and scream. Did i get it? Yes... 3 hours late... cleaning staff is the best part of this p[... read more]lace, and as i said staff in general is great, its terribly managed and owners clearly trying to save a buck. Warning to owner. These bad reviews WILL sink your business eventually. Endless potential there. Wake up.

Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Disappointing Experience – Beautiful Beach, Terrible Service
The only positives about this resort were the beach and the cleanliness. The beach was beautiful, clean, and well maintained, and while the rooms were on the smaller side, they were clean and comfortable.
Unfortunately, everything else was a major disappointment.
The service was by far the worst part of our stay. While there were a handful of friendly and helpful staff members, the majority were extremely rude, unhelpful, and seemed uninterested in providing good customer service.
The r[... read more]eservation system for the à la carte restaurants was an absolute disaster. The app only allows reservations for two people. If you're traveling with a larger group, you're forced to line up every day at 10:00 a.m. to book with a representative. People start lining up as early as 9:30 a.m., meaning you're wasting a significant portion of your vacation just waiting in line. To make matters worse, the representative often arrived late, reservations could only be made two days in advance, and even when we were first in line, many of the desirable dining times were somehow already unavailable. We were repeatedly forced into late dinner reservations.
The buffet food was very underwhelming, with limited variety and mediocre quality. Service there was equally frustrating, as servers frequently ignored requests or took an unreasonable amount of time to respond.
The food truck was another terrible experience. Although it officially opened at noon, they rarely had food ready, resulting in yet another long lineup. The staff were disorganized and incredibly rude. When I asked to speak with a manager about the situation, I discovered that the manager was just as rude and dismissive as the employees.
It also seemed obvious that management was completely unprepared for the number of guests staying at the resort. Restaurants constantly ran out of menu items, sometimes very early in service, and the ice cream shop regularly ran out of ice cream well before the day was over. Running out of basic food items at an all-inclusive resort should not be a regular occurrence.
Overall, this resort has a beautiful beach and clean rooms, but that's where the positives end. The poor service, frustrating reservation process, disorganized operations, and consistently disappointing dining experience made this one of the least enjoyable resort vacations we've had. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend staying here.

Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Poor Service
The scenery at the resort was beautiful and the bar, cafe service and entertainment were excellent. The performers did a fantastic job and made our stay enjoyable.
Unfortunately, our overall experience was affected by several service issues. At the gourmet buffet, some of the waitstaff were not very friendly or accommodating. For example, when I asked a waitress for an espresso, I was told I had to go to the café to get one instead of being assisted.
The reception area could also do a better [... read more]job of creating a welcoming first impression. When we arrived, we weren't greeted or welcomed and throughout our stay it was difficult to get assistance with maintenance. We reported a leaking shower that needed additional caulking three separate times, but the issue was never resolved. On one occasion, a maintenance staff member even rolled his eyes when we mentioned the problem, which was disappointing.
Housekeeping was also inconsistent. Our room was often not restocked with enough towels and the drinks in our minibar were not replenished regularly.
While the resort has a stunning location and excellent entertainment, the customer service and attention to guest requests need significant improvement to match the quality of the property.

Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Disappointing
The resort itself esthetically is beautifully layed out with plenty of trees, flowers and bushes overlooking ocean. However the receptionists were not very welcoming. We had issues with our shower and after many times of having to tell them they just dismissed our concerns. They kept forgetting to replenish our fridge and l had to keep calling for towels. The beach and pool very nice, including bartenders and loved their entertainment and water aerobics. The waitresses in the buffet "marche" ne[... read more]ed a lesson on etiquette. Royalton Grenada Resort and Spa: Royalton Grenada Resort & Spa
Lovely hotel, though not a five star as advertised. Four star.
Positives: Lovely grounds, clean rooms, good views, friendly staff, nice pools, tasty food, good wi-fi.
Things that could be improved upon. - Our balcony, while it had a lovely view, there was some garbage on the grass. The drinks were tasty, somewhat weak, lacking fruit garnishes. Signage in the restaurants should include "out of respect for other patrons, please keep cell phones on silent". Never have we experienced so man[... read more]y people on their phones on SPEAKER in the dining rooms. We feel if this was a more upscale resort, management would have addressed this. The air conditioning in the French restaurant was so cold, patrons were wearing Coats!. The reasoning was that the humidity make the floors slippery. We understand that, but there should be a plan for better comfort.
All in all, a good week away. Would recommend with a few tweaks.

Royalton Saint Lucia Resort and Spa: Worst Royalton Ever
Completely under staffed and it showed. Constantly running out of stuff, IE, Butter, ketchup, napkins, cups for drinks, cheese and bacon for omelets and more.
Stayed for a week and not once did we see someone check chlorine levels, add chlorine or even clean any of the pools. We had a swim out which had flower stems at the bottom of the pool, busted balloons floating around, amongst other stuff in the pools from day 1 and still there when we left.
Buffet was consistent, basically the same [... read more]food everyday and didnt have much flavor.
Staff, extremely friendly. Treated us amazing!
Needless to say, we would never go back to Royalton St. Lucia!

Royalton Hideaway Saint Lucia: Disappointed in my honeymoon stay
My wife and I chose this resort for our honeymoon, expecting it to be one of the most memorable experiences of our lives. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we’ve had.
Having stayed at other Royalton resorts in the past, I expected a similar level of service and hospitality. Sadly, that was not our experience here. From the room assignment to the overall service, we often felt overlooked and undervalued. As honeymooners, we hoped for a special e[... read more]xperience, but instead we left feeling disappointed.
One of the biggest letdowns was the room itself. It was not what we expected based on what was advertised and what we had hoped for when booking such an important trip. The beach and water conditions were also very different from what we anticipated.
What troubled me most was observing service differences throughout our stay. While I cannot speak to anyone’s intentions, there were moments where it appeared that some guests received noticeably faster and more attentive service than others. It created an uncomfortable impression that left us feeling unwelcome.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but I believe honest feedback is important. This was our honeymoon, a trip we invested significant time, money, and emotion into, and unfortunately the experience did not live up to the standards we expected from the Royalton brand.
I hope management takes guest feedback seriously and works to ensure all guests receive the same level of service, respect, and hospitality regardless of who they are. No couple should leave their honeymoon feeling disappointed and unheard.
