Beautiful Resort!

We thought everything was amazing, the room; drinks and dining at the Italian, Steakhouse and Asian restaurants and the buffets (our preference was the Goldfish); the pools and the beach. The lights around the grounds are spectacular! We did not upgrade to Unique and don't feel like we missed out on anything.

Nice resort

Clean,large, 2 good restaurants. Buffet food was always cold even when first opened. Nice sports bar. Beach and pools were great. The people working the bars weren’t very happy at times or personable. Even when you gave them nice tips, they didn’t seem to respond. Little disappointed that you couldn’t find a restaurant to eat at between 4 and 6 PM. All the buffets opened at 6:30 besides the American restaurant which had awful food.

The service here was great. Very nice rooms and beautiful property. The beaches are very nice and clean. The pool is huge and although there is a lot of people around the pool it never seemed crowded.

Perfect for all ages.

From the moment we arrived , explored the resort and settled in at night we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The fitness centre , water park and poolside provided exactly what we all were looking for. If there is a negative, the rooms were quite humid, leaving the sheets feeling damp but I assume that’s climate related.

Amazing Resort - Truly had my heart

We stayed at the Lopesan from January 4 to January 11, and I have to say—this hotel truly had my heart. It had everything you could possibly need. There was a 24-hour sports bar in the lobby, along with 24-hour room service, which was amazing. The room hallways, pools, and washrooms were always clean and well maintained. There were also many different shops, including organic stores, duty-free, a candy shop, clothing shops, and a pharmacy with a 24-hour doctor’s office, which was very reassuring. The resort had so much for kids. There were two water parks—one located at the end of the boulevard, which was actually really nice. You could spend a full day or just a couple of hours there, and since it was out of sight, it was out of mind if you didn’t want to go every day. There was also a teen club, a kids club, an arcade, bowling, and three escape rooms. Lastly, the entertainment team and staff were incredible. There was always something going on, and they truly engaged with guests around the pool and during the nightly shows. They were honestly my favorite part of the resort. Beautiful Resort

The resort itself was beautiful, and the staff so incredibly helpful, polite and friendly. My family and I stayed from Dec 23-30, 2025. The rooms were clean, well appointed, and looked brand-new. The bed was very comfortable. We had a pool view over the adult pool, and they were able to put our children (18 and 21) two rooms over on the same floor, which was very much appreciated. If you want a clean beach free of seaweed, then stay here. We saw many other resorts that didn't clean up the seaweed as well or as early each morning. It makes a difference, because the seaweed attracts bugs like noseeums and sand fleas that bite. Lopesan's staff were very diligent about keeping the beach clean, and would collect the seaweed every morning. We swam in the ocean every day, and the water was beautiful and warm. I was worried that the section in front of the hotel wasn't deep enough to swim as per the photos, but it was quite deep by the buoys, and you could swim and tread water without difficulty. The food was decent. There was a huge selection for the buffet. The restaurants were much better. If you can book into the Mexican, Steakhouse, and Asian restaurants, I would highly recommend. Avoid the French restaurant, and the Italian was fine, but basic. The hotel also had a casino with roulette tables, where my family had fun each night. The chips are $1 USD, so you can play without feeling like you are breaking the bank. I also took advantage of the spa, where I had an 80 minute massage for $100 USD, and it was excellent. Overall, I would recommend this resort, and go back again. Negatives: There is a drain/mould smell in the lobby that the resort tries desperately to cover up. I found it really strong on my first day, but by the time we were going to leave, I barely noticed it. I would recommend getting rooms as high as possible to avoid it. We were on the 4th floor, and didn't notice an odour at all.

Amazing Resort

Hotel with amazing grounds , modern and the service and restaurants 5 stars. Rooms excellent very clean resort that meet my expectations. Entertainment was very good . The lobby is Beautiful spacious resort . The theater Chia is bestiful and sound is amazing.

Wonderfull Resort with room to improve

Pros: Absolutely beautiful place, location, grounds and decoration. Cons: Air conditioning system with with a major engineering design problem. Not enough insulation and faulty drain system. Condensation accumulates on the drywall causing mould and leakage. It's heart breaking seeing such beautiful Hotel with that major problem. Staff rush you to eat quickly in the main restaurants due to high demand. The house wine is awful. It does not meet a 5 start hotel standard. The food, the water [... read more], the ice or all of the above are causing health problems. Me and my wife got stomach and digestion problems.

Amazing Stay at This Breathtaking Resort!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this stunning resort, and I cannot recommend it highly enough! The resort itself is a true paradise – beautifully designed with lush vegetation throughout the property, creating a serene and tropical atmosphere. The restaurants are fantastic, offering a wide variety of delicious dishes, and the massive buffet never disappoints. There’s also a 24-hour American diner that serves up huge burgers, crispy chicken fingers, and mouthwatering chicken wings – perfect for late-night cravings. The food options are abundant, and you’ll never go hungry here. I also want to highlight that the bars are plentiful, ensuring you're never too far from a refreshing drink. The room itself was super comfortable, and everything was running efficiently – from the air conditioning to the water pressure in the shower. No complaints here at all! However, the only downside was the condition of the beach water. While the sand was pristine – soft and white – the water wasn’t as inviting. It had a greenish hue with some seaweed floating around, along with debris. This was a bit of a letdown because the beach itself has so much potential. Despite that, the overall experience was absolutely fantastic, and I would return in a heartbeat! Huge thanks to Isaury and the whole resort team for making this an unforgettable vacation. Amazing resort

The hotel had the best staff and the food was amazinging. My cousin was getting married and wedding was perfect. The room were huge and room service was great. My friend had a swim up, which perfect for people who want their own private pool.

Lopsean Costa Bavaro Resort

Overall experience was great. Some of the staff speak very little English but learning some basic Spanish goes along way to getting great service. Only downside of hotel rooms is lack of iron or hair blow dryer and asked several times and unable to get. Otherwise view, room size and style and cleanliness was great.

Going downhill unfortunately

This was our second stay at Lopesan Costa Bavaro Resort, and unfortunately I have to report that the quality and experience is going downhill. Good points - the room we were given was quiet, and always kept clean. Air conditioning works, however a bit damp in room no matter what you did. The beach was generally good, unfortunately quite busy, and had to get seats - same with pools - just not enough for guests at the hotel. The bar by the unique pool made the best drinks - other bars (Beach Ba [... read more]r, Lobby Bar) were ok. Bad points - the quality of food had gone downhill rapidly. One diner in our party has celiac disease and while they did not get sick, the staff knowledge of gluten free, the options available, the selection at the buffet(s) and basic labelling was extremely poor. The other food was lacking in flavour, in variety and in execution. As supposedly a premium resort and dining experience, extremely disappointed. In addition, staff were slow, a long wait to get drinks in the restaurants. Overall, our experience has turned us off from this resort and we won't be returning.

A pretty perfect vacation

Lopesan Bavaro is a stunning, clean, modern resort, with incredibly polite, friendly, and helpful staff (no, they don't all speak English, but we always figured it out), a gorgeous beach, more pools than you can ever swim in, and very decent food. I had read reviews about warm rooms and fridges (our air conditioning was perfect throughout our 14-day stay – almost too cold!), humidity (none), smell (none to faint in less air-conditioned areas), and food poisoning (never). There were always chai [... read more]ses available by the smaller pools even at 9:30-10:00 a.m. during our January stay, and the noise level is by no means party-all-the-time, which suited us fine. This resort has a lot of activities, but it's not jam-packed with them; it's more of a relaxed vibe. Evening entertainment is just below cruise level but the effort and passion are there, and the costumes and lighting are great. We enjoyed morning walks on the beautiful beach after a fantastic buffet breakfast, where the selection is vast. Restaurants were I'd say a 7/10 (pretty good for a resort feeding thousands of people), with some dishes being amazing (e.g., the octopus at El Asador; the pizzas and spaghetti bolognese at Gondola). The meat is thin and can be tough (not always), but they know a thing or ten about stews and slow cooking (the caramelized plantains at breakfast are already sorely missed). We were always greeted with an "Olla" and a smile by the staff wherever we went, for all 14 days. Managed to catch our NFL football games in the Valley Restaurant and made a few friends. Just an absolutely lovely time and I can't say enough about how great this resort is. It's large enough to be continually interesting, but not so vast that you can't get around without a tram. I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Amazing but needs better maintenance

We stay 7 days and it was mostly amazing, the hotel is beautiful, food is great, general service is okay, beautiful people… but the fridge in our bedroom was not cooling, the drain in the shower was partially clogged, the tv remote was not working. We complained on our first day and they never fixed. We followed up and nothing happened. The replaced the tv remote 2 times but gave us broken remotes again. Also we found roaches in our bedroom. Also, we forgot the bad for my baby stroller in the be [... read more]droom and 30 min after we went back and the was not there anymore and the hotel could not find even knowing that the cleaner was the only person who entered there

Beautiful place

So far this is our favourite resort and one we will definitely be back to. The whole resort is beautiful and very clean. The staff are always out cleaning. The a la carts were fantastic. The rooms were modern and clean. The beds were the best we have had so far. They are not hard as a rock. The beach was clean. There was never any garbage in the sand. We absolutely loved the place.

Amazing resort

I had an amazing time the facilities were well kept and clean. AC in the room was very good. Poole were very clean. Food was okay definitely not the best but good for what it is. Breakfast and the Italian restaurant was my favourite. Beach was well kept and staff was very nice. If you do not speak Spanish there will obviously be a but of language barrier but overall great stay. Would definitely go back

DISAPPOINTED

Very pleased with the resort clean and friendly. However we booked this resort for the kids water park and it was down the whole week we were there for maintenance. We should of been told that this was going to happen and we could of picked another resort. I am sure that this maintenance work was scheduled as there were a few people working on it, this did not happen overnight!!! We asked the hotel for compensation due to the fact that the water parked was not up and running and they did NOTHIN [... read more]G. They told us to seek compensation from you people. So do you plan on doing anything for us with regards to this. It was very disappointing for the kids!!!

Terrible experience

Do NOT go here, especially if you have children or need special accommodations (disability, allergies, etc). I wouldn’t recommend this resort or destination to anyone. The staff was incredibly rude. We spent more time trying to sort out our stay with no resolution than at the pool/beach. The pool decks were covered in cigarette butts and empty cups and the beach front was unkept by the resort.
