Azamara Cruises

What Sets Azamara Cruises Apart

What sets Azamara Cruises apart is their focus on destination immersion, offering travelers a deeper connection to each place they visit. With smaller ships that access remote ports and longer stays at each destination, guests have the time to explore beyond the surface. Azamara’s curated excursions, overnight stays, and exclusive AzAmazing Evenings create unique, culturally rich experiences. While their semi-inclusive fares, covering select spirits, gratuities, and specialty events, add convenience. With a remarkable guest-to-crew ratio of 1.5 to 1, personalized service is at the heart of every journey, ensuring attentive and concierge-level assistance for private tours, dining, or spa reservations. For suite guests, the perks are even more luxurious, featuring English butler service, priority boarding, and complimentary specialty dining. By blending exceptional service with meaningful exploration, Azamara provides a more intimate and fulfilling way to see the world, where you don’t just visit destinations, you truly experience them.

History

Founded in 2007 as part of the Royal Caribbean family, Azamara Cruises quickly established themselves as a boutique cruise line specializing in immersive, luxury travel. With the launch of the Azamara Quest and Journey, the brand gained recognition for their exotic itineraries and personalized service. Over time, the fleet expanded with the addition of the Azamara Pursuit and Onward. All four ships in Azamara’s fleet are designed to offer an intimate travel experience with around 700 passengers onboard. These smaller ships allow access to less-traveled destinations, offering unique voyages to off-the-beaten-path harbors and scenic waterways. In 2021, Azamara transitioned to new ownership under Sycamore Partners, however they maintain their tradition of blending luxury cruising with a spirit of exploration, making it a top choice for travelers seeking both comfort and adventure.

Fleet

Azamara's four ships offer a uniform luxury experience across the fleet, focusing on personalized service, immersive cultural experiences, and exceptional dining.

Azamara Quest: The first ship to launch in the fleet, the Azamara Quest has been recently refurbished, featuring upscale amenities, luxurious staterooms, and personalized service. Known for its intimate feel, the Azamara Quest offers immersive itineraries to off-the-beaten-path destinations.

Azamara Journey: Nearly identical to Azamara Quest, this ship offers a boutique cruising experience with elegant decor and cozy common areas, designed to enhance the intimate atmosphere on board. With a focus on destination immersion and ideal for longer stays in port, allowing guests more time to explore.

Azamara Pursuit: The third ship to join the fleet, designed for travelers seeking a luxurious yet intimate cruise experience, with a focus on cultural enrichment adding more exciting itineraries and destinations to the Azamara portfolio.

Azamara Onward: The newest addition to the fleet, Azamara Onward, features the same elegant onboard atmosphere, world-class dining and cultural events, including exclusive shore excursions and AzAmazing Evenings, creating unforgettable onshore memories.

Dining

Dining on Azamara Cruises is an immersive and diverse experience, offering a range of options that cater to every taste and mood. The main Discoveries Restaurant serves globally inspired dishes with local flavors from each port of call, while The Patio provides casual, poolside dining during the day and transforms into an elegant alfresco venue by night. For a more refined experience, Aqualina offers authentic Italian cuisine, and Prime C specializes in expertly prepared steaks and seafood. If you prefer a buffet-style meal, Windows Cafe features fresh salads, sandwiches, hot entrées, and desserts, with outdoor seating available for ocean views. The Mosaic Cafe is perfect for specialty coffees, teas, pastries, and light bites, providing a relaxed spot to meet fellow travelers or unwind with a book. And with 24-hour room service, you can enjoy a meal in your stateroom whenever you wish.

Entertainment

Azamara’s entertainment focuses on cultural immersion, with signature events that bring you closer to the destinations.

AzAmazing Evenings: Exclusive, complimentary shore events that immerse passengers in the local culture, featuring private concerts, dance performances, and other cultural experiences tied to the destination.

White Night Party: A signature deck event where guests and crew wear white and enjoy alfresco dining, live music, and dancing under the stars.

Enrichment Programs: Destination-focused lectures, workshops, and presentations by onboard experts, guest speakers, and historians, offering insights into the culture and history of the ports visited.

The Drawing Room: A peaceful library space for reading, relaxing, or working quietly on a laptop.

The Sanctum Spa: A full-service spa offering facials, massages, and wellness treatments, including a Thalassotherapy pool (on select ships) and fitness classes like yoga and Pilates.

The Cabaret Lounge: An intimate venue for live music, comedy, guest performers, and cabaret-style shows.

The Living Room: A lounge and bar that transforms into a lively nighttime venue with live music, a dance floor, and late-night tapas.

Pool Deck: Features a large, heated pool, two whirlpools, sun loungers, and shaded areas for relaxation.

Fitness Center: Equipped with modern gym equipment, offering personal training sessions and group fitness classes like yoga and Pilates.

The Boutique Shops: Onboard duty-free shopping with fine jewelry, clothing, cosmetics, and souvenirs.

Shuffleboard and Ping-Pong: Fun and casual activities available on all ships.

Passenger Demographics

Azamara primarily attracts baby boomers and older generations who are well-traveled, adventurous, and seeking deeper cultural connections. Passengers are typically seasoned travelers from North America, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand, with a small percentage from other parts of the world. This global mix contributes to the cosmopolitan feel onboard, where shared experiences and a love for exploration foster a sense of community.

Family and Youth Activities

While Azamara welcomes families, it does not cater specifically to young children or teens. There are no dedicated youth programs, making Azamara more suitable for adults who are seeking cultural enrichment and immersive travel experiences. Families with older children may still enjoy the cruises, but the focus remains on adult-oriented experiences.

Canadian Resident Rates

Azamara offers Canadian resident rates making it easier for Canadian travelers to embark on Azamara’s enriching voyages. These Canadian resident rates are available through tripcentral.ca.

Solo Travel with Azamara Cruises

While Azamara does not offer solo cabins, they do offer double loyalty points for solo cruisers booking staterooms alone, making their trips even more rewarding. With its smaller ship sizes, welcoming atmosphere, intimate excursions and social events Azamara makes it easy for solo passengers to connect and share in the excitement onboard and onshore.

Private Island

Azamara Cruises does not own a private island, as their focus is on delivering immersive, culturally rich travel experiences through extended stays and overnight port visits. Azamara emphasizes connecting guests with the unique culture, history, and charm of the destinations they visit. By prioritizing these deep-dive explorations, Azamara crafts a journey that feels less about resort-style seclusion and more about global discovery.

Loyalty Program

Azamara’s loyalty program, Azamara Circle, rewards repeat guests with a range of perks, including exclusive loyalty events onboard, complimentary nights, spa savings, free laundry, and more. With five tiers, Adventurer, Explorer, Discoverer, Discoverer Plus and Discoverer Platinum, each offering increasing rewards, such as priority embarkation and complimentary internet. The Azamara Circle benefits are available when booking through tripcentral.ca, ensuring the same loyalty perks.
