When flying to Paris you can choose to land at the Charles de Gaulle or Orly airports. They are only about 41 km apart. There are a couple of things to consider when choosing which airport to fly to. First would be the available flights from Toronto to either airport. Second would be cost. Third would be the location where you are going and which airport is closer.
This is a balancing act between convenience and cost. If you can find cheap flights going to one airport it may be worth taking a longer drive to get to your final destination. On the other hand you may find more value in paying a little more to land at the airport closer to your destination. If you are unsure if Charles de Gaulle or Orly is best for you then talk to one of tripcentral.ca’s travel agents who have been to Paris. They can help you decide the best airport for you based on your travel needs.
It may make a difference knowing that all flights from Toronto to Orly airport are connecting. If you are flying into Charles de Gaulle airport you have a choice between connecting, direct, non-stop and charter flights from Toronto. Air Canada and Air France offer daily non-stop or direct flights from Toronto to Charles de Gaulle airport.
Between May and December you can also take direct or non-stop charter flights to Paris. Air Transat and Sunwing fly to Charles de Gaulle airport weekly. Air Transat does increase their charter flights from Toronto to Charles de Gaulle airport between June and September to daily.
There are many connecting flights from Toronto to both Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports. You could fly with Air Canada, Air France, Alitalia, American, British Airways, Delta, Icelandair, KLM, Lufthansa, Air Transat or USAir. You can use the flight reservation page on tripcentral.ca to compare the different flights from Toronto to Paris.
If you know what airport you want to land at choose it as your destination and you will see what is available for your departure date. If cheap flights are your priority then you want to check and compare all flights from Toronto to both airports in Paris. You simply choose all Paris airports and flights for both are shown. Prices and the departure times can be seen at a glance.
Fortunately cheap flights are displayed on tripcentral.ca’s flight reservation page as being the best price. Best value airfares are also brought to your attention. It is important to know that there is a difference between cheap flights and the best value airfares. Best value airfares may be a little more expensive than the cheap flights but they are often more comfortable or convenient.
A good time to look for cheap flights to Paris is about four months before you would like to go. If there is going to be any discount airfare it is usually available between one to four months before a flight. As with any good deals discount airfare goes fast, so you want to book sooner than later.
At times charter flights give you the best value for your money. Sometimes charter airfare is determined almost a year in advance. As a result charter airfare may be considered discount airfare.
Seat sales are another option when looking for cheap flights. They can occur any time there are multiple seats unsold. Seat sales normally take place at the last minute, so sometime within 30 days before takeoff.
Waiting for seat sales may seem like a good idea. You could get discount airfare. There are also disadvantages to waiting for seat sales to book your tickets. It is not assured that there will be a seat sale. Most people don’t realise that airfare can go up as well as down. You could wait for discount airfare only to find the price increasing the longer you wait.
Another important thing to consider is that flights to Paris do fill up. You can quickly find yourself going from waiting for cheap flights to not going at all. Be careful about waiting to buy your tickets. If you wait too long there may not be any tickets to buy. Don’t put your trip plans at risk waiting for seat sales.
You may find discount airfare to Paris from Buffalo or Detroit. American, Delta and United offer connecting flights to Paris all year. Delta does fly direct or nonstop every day from Detroit to Paris. Consider where you can get the best value for your money. Always balance the savings from discount airfare with any inconvenience or added expenses getting to and from a border city. Savings from cheap flights in a border city may not be real savings once the actual cost of travelling to the different airports is compared. Cheap flights are only valuable when they actually save you money.
