You can find daily flights to Vancouver all year round. Air Canada and West Jet have non-stop or direct flights to Vancouver from Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Calgary and Winnipeg. Connecting flights are available from Halifax. Sunwing offers charter flights from Toronto to Vancouver in the summer. It is easy to see and compare the different flight times, dates and airfare on tripcentral.ca’s flight reservations system and organise your trip.
Non-stop, Direct and Connecting:
Non-stop: you go straight from one airport to Vancouver with no stops.
Direct: you stop at other airports to pick up or drop off passengers but you don’t change planes.
Connecting: you have to get off one plane and board another plane.
Connecting flights can be inconvenient but they can give you flexibility. It is a quick and easy way to add a destination to your trip. You can choose to spend time at the connection location. It is often possible to arrange flights so you can spend hours or even days there before continuing onto Vancouver. You can also use the connecting flights to your financial advantage. You can always pick and choose your flights based on price. Always compare scheduled and charter airfare when looking for cheap flights to Vancouver.
Scheduled:
These days airfares are very competitive. Air Canada and West Jet sometimes have ticket specials such as discount airfare or last minute seat sales. If cheap flights are important then you should book early and not wait for a possible seat sale. The best time to book is between one to four months before your trip or holiday. Usually discount airfare sells out fast. You want to book before all the cheap airfare is gone. It is not recommended to wait for a seat sale. They don’t always happen.
Charter:
Flying to Vancouver at the last minute can be expensive. Usually any cheap tickets have already been snapped up. Sunwing‘s charter airfare might save you some money.
Sunwing offers several weekly flights from Toronto to Vancouver from mid June to mid September. Flight times and departure dates are not as flexible as scheduled flights. The benefit could be cheaper flights to Vancouver. Charter airfare is set months in advance, usually the fall for the following summer so Sunwing may have cheap flights before any seat sales or discounts.
Many people only take charter flights as part of a vacation package and are not aware that anyone can fly charter and get discounted airfare. You will want to book early because they usually don’t have many seats available. Charter flights often reserve seats for people booking with tours, guides or part of a vacation package. Occasionally there may be last minute seat sales, but not usually. This only happens when the seats held for vacation packages have not sold a month before the departure date.
Seat Sales:
Cheap airfare is NOT always available at the last minute. There is a chance of seat sales a month prior to the departure date, but not likely. They are not as common as people like to think. Also, there is no telling when or even if a seat sale will happen. When you hold out for seat sales you risk the flight you want booking up. It is also possible that the airfare might increase with demand, not decrease. You can always call a tripcentral travel agent and discuss the best options to get your desired departure date and the lowest ticket prices.
Travel Advice:
A tripcentral travel agent will be happy to examine all your options with you, including seat sales and discount airfare. They will give you advice so that your travel experience is based on your departure, budget and comfort needs. Your experience is just as valuable, if not more, than any cheap flights they might find you.
Flying from border cities:
Occasionally cheap flights can be found at border cities. If it is more convenient or less expensive for you to fly out of the border cities you may wish to explore that option. Just keep in mind any expenses or inconvenience involved with getting to a border city. Savings from cheap flights in border cities may not be real savings once the cost of getting to the different airports is compared. Discount airfare and seat sales are only valuable if they actually save you money.
