The staff was all exceptionally friendly and were very accommodating and helpful. The location is perfect for anyone wanting to go out at night as there is free entrance to Havana club while staying at this resort also Calle 62, Beatles bar and la comparsita are all very close amongst others. The hotel rooms were clean and beds comfortable. For the price you really can't go wrong. My travel agent was also a pleasure to book with! Thanks again!!

We were told that we did not have a reservation (yet our flight was confirmed, and our transfer was not a problem). The front desk requested we pay money upfront money during check in which was returned the next day but in Cuban Dollars not Canadian which we gave them. This seems like some sort of scam. You should not feature this hotel in your travel packages.

Awesome place ,3rd time there ...good price, alot of down to earth people stay there..super close to the down town area (Beatles club, Calle 62, Havana Club) Food could be a bit better as in more variety Lobby bar closed at 12 which was kind of a bummer Entertainment was great Also swim up bar was closed ,but that was stated before we booked

The hotel was OK took 5 different rooms to get a OK room. No air mold in two dirty in another, food has gone from OK to terrible this place is not even a 2 star. Same food every day morning noon night nothing changes. Sorry to say but I never will return to Cuba. My first week went to eli-cart and that night food poisoning through up both ways all night sick for two days. And I made sure everyone new.I love the people but they have problems.

Lobby looks very nice with new renovations. Enjoyed buffet meals good variety in food , warm meals, Love their deserts fruits and ice cream. Staff and chambermaid friendly give good service. Warm water for showers. Pool was also very nice and warm. Been there three times would recommend this resort. Good location!

Resort was very fun. I would say it was a party resort but very clean, respectful. People and staff were great. No staff were rude. Pretty much let everyone have fun. Rooms were clean. Nothing was stolen. People serving the drinks at the pool bar and lounge will serve you but just super slow. But I can understand. Long day to serve drinks all day to the same drunk people day after day. We did tip. Did pick up a little bit, but still super slow. lol. So don't tip to much. It won't change much. Maybe $5 a day. Location is the key for this resort. I would go again just for that. You can walk everywhere. Super close to everything. As for the food on the resort. This was terrible. But I have stayed in other low star resorts and its all the same. Unless you go to a 5 star plus the food is not changing. Its all bad in all the resorts. But many nice restaurants near this resort to eat off the resort. Ranging from $5 to $30 cuban dollars a meal. Matters what your looking for. Hope this helps. But "Yes" I would stay here again.

Palma Real is a great resort, it is walking distance to all the good bars and clubs, no need to pay for travel. The beach is a 5 min walk from the hotel, but it didn't bother me because there is lots of little things to see. They have a bar by the beach so you don't have to worry about going thirsty or hungry. The people that work there are great as well. The atmosphere is always good and I liked the food as well. I would recommend this resort to anyone I know.

I travelled solo April 22 to April 29 2017 As I have been here three times I know what to expect the food was a little better this time than it has been in the past that was a great assortment of fresh vegetables and meats The rooms are a bit dated but I always had hot water and a working toilet Some of the staff have been there for a long time and there are some newer staff There were some long lines At the bar and there were some very impatient customers there me I'm on vacation I don't mind waiting There was a chance to do excursions and shows every night and the pools were very well kept Also this hotel is on the main drag in the Varadero so you could spend a lot of time shopping or visiting the different restaurants I was able to change my money at the resort So for those on a budget it's probably a good deal

Very nice, the room was as we expected and the pools were nice. The area and the beach were both great. The Cuban people were very nice, and did their best to help us with what we needed during our trip.

Having stayed last year at this resort we loved it , then we return this year to new owners & would not recommend it. The staff is not happy, the food is the same each day with a little tweak if not for the a la carte restaurants it would be really disgusting. Will not be returning to this hotel.

There were bad reviews so we were a bit worried at first. But to our surprise it was quite nice. We stayed in building three which was centered around Everything. You could tell alot of work has been done to fix this resort up. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We were delayed leaving and had no room for twelve hours. They stored our luggage and let us keep our bracelet so we could still come and go as we pleased, which was nice as this resort is downtown....lots to do off resort and very safe. We weren't crazy about the food, but my hubby is really fussy. We ate off the resort quite often.....had no stomach problems what so ever. I would go back to this resort and recommend it to anyone who likes exploring off their resort and is looking for a budget friendly vacation. P.S. the air conditioning was awesome!

Grounds, facilities and pools were all very well kept. Although the beach wasn't on the resort, it was very close and there was a snack bar there for the guests which was nice. Food was very bland and there wasn't a great deal of variety. As a vegetarian I found it difficult to find things to eat.

I found the atmosphere to be very friendly .l thought the buffet was adequate and the coffee bar was amazing. This was my second stay at this resort and l would go again! I may use this resort as a vacation in October.

This was my first time in varadero and it was wonderful. The resort was walking distance to fantastic restaurants and night life. Rooms were well kept, pools were beautiful. The beach was amazing - the resort even had a beach bar and snack bar!

once again i had a great stay at palma real in varadeo. the staff is amazing and always helpful the beach is fabulous and always have great weather in april. took a while to get hot water in the room but hey this is a 3 star in cuba! i could always find something to eat at the buffet that suited me. the grounds are always kept up and the resort location is second to none. if you want a fun stay at a good price then this is the place for you!

Rooms were not really what we were expected. There were marks all over the walls that should be painted over. Hot water was a on and off thing but I heard problems with this at other hotels. We were there for two weeks and after we knew were everything was we got used to it. I am more of a wine and beer drinker and some bars didn't sell beer and just hard stuff but when you get to know this you adapted. Beach was great but sometimes hard to get chairs or places with shade but you adapt to that also. We prob won't be back but you never know great prices are sometimes hard to pass. Pool was great and always chairs so sometimes the good things outway the bad ones. Always seem to be lineups and you have to wait but hey you are on vacation. There is entertainment in the lounge every evening which was nice but always the same ones playing. Anyway wouldn't advise anyone not to go but don't pay big dollars.

The hotel itself was repainted on the exterior but the same from inside... you should not go to this hotel for the nice rooms... but is Cuba, so enjoy the beach ...the music around the pool in the afternoons and the night club which is owned by the resort so you'll save 1o cuc every time on entrabce fee. Food is also up to the local standards ..so if you are not too picky ..will find something to fill your stomach... Elevators are random.. . Like hot water ... Rooms cleaned daily...tips appreciated.

The hotel is under repair in certain areas. However the room my husband and I stayed in was very clean and free of mold and bugs :) The staff were very friendly and did what they could to accommodate guests. The towels and bed sheets are not changed however the rooms were well cleaned. Towels provided for pool/beach are rare and the beach is off resort just a 2 min walk...l Bars were busy and the one in building 4 is the best service least ppl but no cervesa :( Resort is close to all the shopping and tourist desires needed including tattoo shops, Beatles bar and a beautiful park. All in we had a blast and were not expecting a 5 star resort.

Going to Cuba we knew we couldn't expect the same standards as the all inclusive hotels in Mexico. This review is after taking that fact in to consideration. Pros: The location of the hotel is excellent. Even though it was not beach-front, it was a block from the most amazing beach and a few minutes from the Beatles Bar, Calle 62 Club, restaurants and craft shops. There was a wide selection of fresh food, basic preparations but that was expected of Cuba. A few of the restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful, even before tipping. The in-house entertainment was very good for a few days only then it was audience participation. The pools and the pool-side entertainment was quite good. In our building rooms were mopped and cleaned every day. Cons: The staff at the reception were not very friendly. They took for ever to book us in on arrival. They did no advise us what the meal times were until we asked. The dinner buffet closed at 9.30pm. We finished checking in around 9.05pm and went directly to dinner at 9.10pm. The restaurant staff was very rude and didn't want to seat us as they wanted to close up. The snack bar had only a couple of choices. The room was very basic. The lights were so dim that our room was very gloomy. The hair dryer was broken in our room. Our room door couldn't be locked and that night we had to sleep without locking our door. The next day we were able to get someone to fix it after some hassle. Even after tipping the housekeeping on the first day and reminding her to leave our complementary bottle of water, until we complained to the reception a few times, the water was not supplied. Towels were clean but had stains. As the hall ways are tiled, every time someone checks in or out, the wheels of the baggage being dragged on the tile floor makes a huge noise that it wakes you up. We had requested a pool-side rooms, which we didn't get. Subsequently we checked if we could have one and the reception asked us to first go check out a couple of rooms before moving.They were even worse than what we had, so we stayed put. Shall not go there again.

This is a 3.0 star resort...It is okay, a little run down but what can you expect when you have crazy hurricane weather one day and then extremely hot sun the next!...The location of this Hotel is amazing!...you are connected to The Havana Club which is free for people staying at The Palma Real and is happening every night except Mondays and then they open a club called The Cave which is amazing also but a 15.00 dollar taxi ride there and another 15.00 back, also 10.00 per person to get in!...This hotel is down the street from Calle 62 which is always a street party with entertainment and no charge, you continue down the street to a bar called The Beatles Bar and that is also free to get in with locals playing all old time Rock-n-Roll...Incredible voices for sure!!!...This hotel is across the street from the most beautiful beach there is and people from 5 start resorts taxi over to our side of the Island for this beach, apparently theirs is not as nice!...All in all it is Cuba and the food is bland but can be good with hot sauce...lol...bring your own!

Nice to see renovations. We stayed building 4 always had hot water. Elevator works. Location is everything. Buffet was repetitive but could always find something. Lots of nearby restaurants. Barbacoa was amazing. Beatles bar and Calle 62 a short walk to a great night. Get beach chairs early as there isnt many but never seemed to be a problem. Afternoon pool entertainment was great. Pool bar staff could smile a little more :)

as always i had agreat time staying at the palma real. the staff is always friendly and helpful the grounds are clean and the beach is amazing. food is average at best but who goes to cuba for the food. i wish they had new beds but this is cuba. all around it was a great experience.

Great location, but dated. Mold smell in room we were in but otherwise clean. Pool areas clean but needing some tlc. Beach access good. Shortage of chairs on the beach. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

This resort is in a great location in varadero cuba. Buffet was good but no french fries. Some renovation to the room would be needed but the lobby and pool area were great. Overall it was a nice resort, the staff was very friendly.

This time was the third stay in this hotel.! In the past it was somehow acceptable..!..In my past review i have mentioned about tens of dogs on the hotels beach ....But many of them are still there .. Is a real DANGER of contaminating the beach...At this time: No towels for the beach and limit of two for the bath (Sorry ...The Laundry is broken) They say. At the Lobby Bar: If you don't offer higher tip than 1 CUC....You have to wait longer to be served, and served in plastic cups ...Beer alcohol or Coffee( Disgusting) In the Restaurant Buffet: They are asking you to offer them: expensive perfume or other staff ....Same with the Maids....If you forgot to live daily gift on the bed ....You will see a dirtier room after cleaning than you left.Every night drunk people are coming to the rooms at 3 or 4 in the morning with a big noise,fighting or smashing doors...I have complained many times ...But next night was the same ....What else to do if you are not a heavy drinker....Than stop going to this Hotel..!!

We have been to Cuba before and this was the worst place we have ever stayed in. The beach was so far away from the hotel that we were unable to walk to it due to mobility problems. They should have offered some form of transportation as you had to cross the highway. As it was a public beach, it was difficult to get a chair unless you went early in the morning to save one. You had to put a $25 deposit down if you wanted a beach towel, to be picked up when you left. As they did not have enough towels you were unable to exchange it when needed. The food was terrible in the buffet dining area. It was unseasoned and had no taste. The rooms were substandard. The first room they put us in was not for a disabled person and smelt of mold. It was also very dingy and noisy. The second room had no hot water all the time we were there. Nor did we have bath towels most of the time. The cleaning staff were not very efficient. My sister had something in her bed, as she had bites all over her arms and legs, She went to public relations to let them know about a chair collapsing on her the person could have cared less.

This being our third visit to the hotel/resort, I was hoping that some upgrades may have been made with all the Canadian money going in. Heck they could rebuild the country with the amount of pecos being paid out to pee where ever you go. Excursions, Havana excellent, tour guide phenomenal, Sugar, cigar rum way to much driving. Jeep tour painful 90% driving, no information of what or where we were going and again having to put out all that extra money for stops to purchase their goods here and there. NO stops to pee so when you got to the destination and you don't have a spare pecos pee your pants or use the bush. Toilet paper is always optional there to take your own. Room ok, without hot water 3 of 11 days. Water pressure sucked. Food much more bland than past two visits. When they say don't eat off of the resort it is probably so you won't figure out food is better off the resort. Staff mostly great and friendly, encountered some you we taken aback to. Will I go again NO

Overall a nice resort. Our room was clean but the safe didn't have a lock plus there is a 2 CUC per day charge. The service at the buffet was very good however the food was cold. The only time we could find a chair at the beach was after 3 PM and many are broken. A beach towel is only available with a 20 CUC deposit.

Friendly staff, resort and rooms were always clean, food was good. Perfect location to area restaurants, flea markets and Beatles Bar. Only complaint was there was never enough chairs at the beach and were taken first thing in the morning.

This was our first trip to Cuba and our first stay at an all inclusive. We were told, 'travel to Cuba for the people and the beaches but not for fancy rooms or dining'. From the moment we landed the hospitality of the Cuban people was outstanding. They were warm, personable, and helpful. The hotel staff, Cuban shop owners and anyone we passed on the street was genuine in their desire to ensure we enjoyed their Cuba. The water was clear, the beaches clean and never over crowed. We were impressed with the level of respect shown to the beach and other beach goers. A book or pair of glasses placed on a lounge chair was enough to show it was occupied. Personal music and conversations were kept appropriate and within a group. The space was made for all to enjoy. An impressive accomplishment given the variety of cultures, age groups and personalities that were in attendance. As for the hotel and food. The 'warning' we were issued for friends and visitors was moderately accurate. The state of the hotel as not pristine and the food not extraordinary. But the entire hotel was clean, our room comfortable with air conditioning, hot water and a tv with English speaking channels. There was a wide variety of food for both those who wanted to be adventurous and those who wanted to play it safe. There was casual dining and quieter more intimate options. We were never hungry. The layout of the hotel was excellent. There were two pool areas. One that offered games and music the other, on the other side of the resort, allowed for quiet readying or resting. This is a family resort so the pools were closed at 6pm which seems early but guests either lounged in the main lobby or walked into town. We never heard a complaint about it. We were also surprised that despite the 24 hour bar the atmosphere remained family friendly. Our only struggle on the whole trip was with the flights, delayed both directions. The fight out of Toronto boarded on time, pulled from the gate but during checks found that a battery needed to be replaced. The crew was apologetic and prompt in the repair. As someone who does not enjoy flying I did not mind the delay as I figure the best time to discover a faulty part is on the tarmac prior to take off. The return flight was also delayed but the reason was not disclosed. On the whole we will defiantly be returning to Cuba, and Hotel Palma Real many times in the future.

The facilities are very clean and the rooms are clean also. However, the food is absolutely awful. Cold and always the same thing. Even the a la carte restaurants (if you want to call them that) are the same. The staff is NOT friendly at all, so you don't have to worry about tipping if you don't want to. Never met my maid, but she was excellent. The beach is extremely small with broken chairs. If you want a chair, get there before 8:30 as you will have none. Air Canada Vacations are the worse that I've been on. Me and my husband never got to sit together all the way back on the planes. Luggage was ruined also.

All in all for the money we paid: this resort was clean, the staff was pretty friendly (considering how much they have to do for the guests) and the beach was just a 2 minute walk away. The food was so much better than 2 years ago (owner change) and the pool was clean. The downtown location can't be beat as we were so close to many restaurantstudents, clubs, market places and the carnival (awesome fried chicken there) I was greeted by the same friendly staff from 2 years ago...they remembered who I was!!! Location, price, hospitality and all inclusive can't be beat at the Palma Real!!

The hotel was definitely nice enough! Service could have been a bit better, and it isn't exactly close to the beach. Buffet food was very repetitive and not the best, but that can probably be said about most buffets. I got a super saver room, and I think the stay was worth the money I paid.

The room was kept clean by the cleaning lady. She was very nice and helpful. She even gave us a parting gift. The dining staff was very nice and very friendly always with a smile. The staff on the door and bar were also very nice and helpful. The food was very good for the country. There was a different choice in the evening, ham, fish, roast beef. roast pork, mutton and more. The salad was very good and the ice cream was to die for. Overall for the money it was a good stay and we would go back again.

The hotel was overbooked upon arrival due to Reading Week. They were sending people to another hotel. We chose to stay here as we love the staff here and they are like family to us. As well, you couldn't get a chair at the beach as there were about 50 chairs and about 900 people registered at the resort. The lineups for food were longer than usual, but with the number of clients, it wasn't so bad. They have been doing upgrades and the resort is looking great! Already booked there for our next trip in April.

Their staff are amazing. Nothing is too much to them. The lady at the beach bar remembers everyone's name. The front desk is available and polite with everyone. Because the resort is not right on the beach they make up in so many different ways. I'll keep going back.

Our only other visit to an all inclusive resort was 10 years ago in Punta Cana so we don't have much to compare Palma Real to. Read lots of reviews before going, but still weren't quite sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised by our room. It was certainly outdated but functional - clean, fully functioning 3 piece bathroom, toiletries and towels replenished daily, working A/C (we did however talk with another couple whose A/C was broken for the week), no bed bugs, cock roaches, sand flees, or mosquitoes. Room safe costs 10 CCU. Beach was 4 minute walk from hotel and was amazing but there are very few chairs so most guests were forced to sit on the sand. Pools were OK but run down - broken tiles, loose ladders, very dirty bottoms, towel rental seems like a racket so we just used our own. Building exteriors have been recently painted but grounds could use some upgrades. Public washrooms not well kept. Missing toilet seats, broken urinals, no paper towel and broken hand dryers. Lobby bar always busy and very smoky. Dining at Speciality Restaurants was pretty good but choices were limited. Buffet food was disappointing. Not much variety from day to day and unless you got food from the grilling/carving station, the food was always cold. Desserts weren't very good but always had fresh fruit and ice cream. Nightly entertainment was good. The best thing this Resort has going for it is the location. Just a 5 minute walk takes you to downtown Varadero where there are lots of restaurants, bars, shopping centres, and other attractions. Disappointed by the staff. We always heard about Cuban hospitality, but it wasn't found at this resort. Other than our maid, smiles were rare and helpful staff were scarce. We are definitely not seasoned travelers, but would not consider this a 3 1/2 star resort and would not go back.

The hotel definitely needs some upkeep which they are currently doing, the hotel location is super close to other bars and entertainment in the city .. the staff were great and super helpful. We were booked through air Canada vacations and their representative osualdo was amazing to deal with and helped Us book our excursions.. the beach wasnt too far. Drinks were always full, the food in Cuba is bland but I think that's just across the board wherever you stay in Cuba .

Resort was nice overall. Across the street from the beach (i didn't know that before I booked), decent food everyday, and good drinks. Friendly atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, and the pools and grounds were clean. Resort is close to the town area so it's easy to walk and go explore day/night if that's your thing.

Hotel was poorly maintained. Food was limited and lacked staff. Only 1 key card for two guests. Safety deposit boxes archaic . Staff good. Located too far from beach. Close to town. Reception staff were difficult to deal with.

The Hotel was in pretty good shape , bars and washrooms available ... Clean pools big buffet area, close to beach and lots of help from staff. I would definately would be going back to this hotel and recommend friends and family.

Rooms were excellent grounds were well maintained, food were somewhat repetitive but 2 main dishes were daily changed, staff were very friendly, very close to beach and central to all the main attractions including the Beatles calle63

The resort could use a lot of work. We were told that management recently changed so hopefully this means things will improve. Beds felt like sleeping on a box spring. Mold in most rooms. Hours were very odd for buffet with minimal to no food options in between. Very slow service at the bars. And we were never offered beverages at meals. On the bright side, we went with a great group of friends, made tons of friends, and enjoyed that we were located on the main stretch in Varadero.

Location was awesome. Beach was nice. Pools were nice. Staff were okay but not overly friendly nor helpful. Very hard to get pesos for tips. Hotel is rundown. Mold in certain areas. Towels in rooms stained and or with holes. Only change towels and sheets every 2-3 days. Plus our sheets had nasty stains...didn't even sleep directly on them. Drinks were not to my personnal liking...way too strong! Very hard to get a reservation at the à la carte restaurants but was better than buffet. It is a party hotel so not great for everyone. Got accused of steeling a towel from the room when we checked out....cleaning lady didn't look properly. REALLY did not appreciate the accusation!! My worst vacation so far. Will NOT be going back here.

The location is good. The beach is across the street & it's easy to walk into town. If you're low maintenance you'll have a great time, but If you want fancy, don't go here. The service isn't amazing, & the food is bland, but there are no bugs & you can drink whatever you want 24/7 & you get to eat. The coconut ice cream was amazing. Cuban standards are lower than other places, so you get what you pay for.

The hotel was an average hotel with lots of amenities...it as any other resort in Cuba as all inclusive offered a buffet that was basic Cuban food. There was a small kitchen off the side which offered good sandwiches and fruit. Staff were amazing and so kind and accommodating. We took our daughter (14) this time.2nd time going and one grounds keeper went out of his way to take a coconut and made a drink and handcrafted a grasshopper for top garnish for her which she cherishes to this day. Swim up bar..volleyball tourney...good music played at the 2 adjoining pools and quiet at the other side for down time at the other 2 pools. Construction was happening for elevators while we were there..which will be an added bonus later and housekeepers always left our room with fancy towel decorations everyday. Always looked forward to see what they would do each day. Balcony with amazing view of the ocean and the sun wing rep gentleman was amazing at helping us when we met with him to make our arrangements for the jeep safari...big thanks as it was an amazing tour. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip at an amazingly cheap cost. Hotel needed some work but we went for the sun surf and sea...and only sleep in the room. Big thank you to Elana w sunwing/TripAdvisor for all her assistance as she was there to help w all our call concerns etc. A wonderful family trip that will be remembered for the rest of out lives!👍

Hello this is our second stay here and we love the location of this fine hotel. Its 1 block to a beautiful beach and 1 block to Beatles bar which is an amazing place to go. They have since 2 years ago have landscaped and painted most rooms really looks impressive. The food here is fine and have great variety of things to do nice pools and bars are friendly. The money you save here you can eat off resort and have pizza or steak or whatever you like. Unfortunately I was very sick and was hospitalized for most of my vacation but must say also had best care and am thankful for the excellent care I received. I am sad I did not make memories I wanted to make next time I guess .

It is the 20th time back to this hotel it's the best for location and the staff is the best always there to look after you from the bartenders the maids the Buffett staff the security and the front desk staff especially Samira she is the best

Quick 4 day girls trip to Varadero. Dont expect to check in until 4pm, even if you get there by 1030am...like us.... The staff is very helpful, special shout out to the fabulous bartender Orelsi at the Black and White Bar in the 4th Building. The grounds are clean. The pool bar is good, the pool cold and the cement/patio all around pool in desperate need of painting. The food is ok. Remember, this is a 3star in Cuba....which is like a 2star in Mexico or DR. Limited bars....only the pool bar, lobby bar and the Black and White Bar in 4th Building. There are often lineups but the staff works hard to deliver and will remember you and treat you well. The room is very basic. Cold showers sometimes. 2 twin beds pushed together. Broken dresser. However, who spends time in their rooms? The beach is spectacular. A short stroll....even though you have to walk up a street and cross a street it is still closer than alot of larger resorts. And there are not anywhere close to enough lounge chairs at beach, most are broken, but if you get there by 8am, you will get one. Best location ever in Varadero if you want to be near the night life. Next to Calle 62, steps to the Beatles Bar (great live band) and ate at the amazing steak restaurant (across the street) called Barbacoa. Everyone was from Quebec, a younger crowd. Would I book again? Yes if less than 750$ per week, then a great deal.

I want this to review to be helpful and not a complaint session so hope it helps!!! The weather our week was very poor which negatively influenced our vacation but is not the hotel's fault so I will do my best to be objective!! Rooms: amazing and huge. Very clean, the women cleaning the rooms were awesome and a large balcony. Always had hot water and water pressure wasn't bad!! Hotel: needed work....broken lights, ripped awnings and the beach chairs were old and many broken. Poor service in the dining room, long waits to have plates cleared and drinks refilled. Often toilet paper was not refilled and they ran out of towels both room and pool towels, they said the laundry was down. It appeared they were understaffed which may have impacted this but the staff who were there were kind. They had started to fix things on our last day. Food: I have been to cuba before so was ready for the food. Not a lot of choices,less fresh fruit then I was used to, no French fries!! Really small buffet for the number of people , long lines often. A la cartes: Italian was awesome, International was average and Cuban was awful both for food and decor. Snack bar: great burgers and hot dogs. Beach snack bar: also great food, even had French fries for one lunch!!! Bars: again understaffed so line ups but booze is booze!! The pool bar staff seemed unhappy and very unengaging!! Pools were cold but again this may have been influenced by the crappy weather. Beach: awesome and warmer then the pool!! I would return to Cuba but not to this hotel they did the best they could but it was not enough!!

Hotel needed a great deal of maintenance. Ceilings in halls appear to have mildew. Halls poorly painted with no cutting in. Glass railing cracked leaving a safety hazard. Service staff very friendly and helpful. Room was clean. All in all, hotel appeared very tired. Observed very few people maintaining the property.

As this was my 9th time staying at the Palma Real, my review might be a little biased, but honest! First off, remember this is a 3.5* hotel in Cuba, not a 5* in the Mayan Riviera. I have been to both many times, and it is simply not a fair comparison. Due to the longstanding embargo against Cuba, they just don't have access to many of the luxuries you may be used to. At least not at the price point of a 3.5* Cuban hotel. However, if you can live with the drawbacks, you can't beat the experience of the Palma Real. The good: LOCATION,LOCATION, LOCATION!!! It's so close to all the best nightlife, great restaurants, shopping and local culture. The facility is older, but has been kept up as well as I think is possible for them. It has a fresh coat of paint on the buildings, and many of the rooms are being freshened up too. The grounds are nicely kept, and the rooms are sparse, but clean. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful. The pools are nice enough. There is a "quiet pool" with a kiddy pool beside it, and a "party pool" with a swim up bar, along with afternoon activities. The lounge chairs can be hard to get in the afternoon, so be early! The beach is across/down the street a few hundred feet, but it's NOT a big deal. It's definitely worth the walk. There is also the beach bar that serves some snacks too. The beach and water are beautiful. The sand is powdery soft and the water clear and blue. My personal opinion is that it's one of the nicest beaches in the Caribbean. It's the reason Varadero has been such a popular vacation spot for 70+ years. The "Okay": The food. The food is okay! It's not gourmet, but I've always found something I actually enjoyed eating. If you like spicy food, pack a little of your favourite in your suitcase. The whole resort is older, but well laid out for it's time period. Yes, you have to walk to the lobby if you need a bathroom, which is a bit of a pain, but not enough of a pain to bypass staying there. The rooms could use some new mattresses and pillows, but are otherwise quite satisfactory. Nothing fancy, but adequate....much like everything there. The bad: The last 4 times I have been to the Palma Real, I've had some issue or another with the bathrooms. Either no hot water, or very little, or a missing toilet seat or shower wand bracket. I consider these things an inconvenience, but again, not a deal breaker, The elevators in buildings 1 and 4 were not working on this visit, but there was a service elevator that could be used in either building. Again, not a deal breaker if you don't mind some stairs. Overall: The Palma Real is not for everyone. If you desire gourmet food, luxury rooms and fixtures, everything working and available for use, it's not for you. If you don't expect all these things for what you should be paying(at least half of ANY 5* hotel in the Caribbean), and like to get off the resort and explore, then it's a good choice for you.

We certainly enjoyed our stay at the Palma Real, The hotel was beautifully clean and the the hospitality was great! The staff at the hotel treated us beautifully each day and made us feel special! We enjoyed the large bathroom! The king size bed! and the view of the ocean! Our room had a light out in the closet area which was difficult to see or use the area. There were tiny bugs crawling, that bit my legs. The welts blistered in the centre. I would have hesitated to say this, but the one pair of socks that I did not wash, once we were home, I had 3 more bites around the ankle. We would certainly recommend this to our friends! hotel was okay food great but bad timing fidel died night arrived so lots was cancelled no shows music ect had to change rooms as no hot water then no water at all staff friendly and helpful would stay there again

Hotel was very nice .The price is right for a group of people to go and have fun for a week . Can walk to the Bars at night . Food was not bad for Cuban food. Needed more chairs on the Beach. I would go back again.

this was the second time I've stayed at this hotel.I think the food was a little less appealing this time .I stopped eating the meat after the 4th day.the rooms were cleaned daily ,everything was clean and tidy but everything is well worn and it shows.it was disappointing that Castro death put a damper on all activities in the resort .there was no entertainment on the resort at all .if I had not brought down my dock we would have had no music at all.yes I would go to this hotel again but it would have to be a better deal.

It is My second time at this hotel, and coming back is not an exclusion. The buildings are in renovation at this point . and after that I am sure it will look good.....The only big problem we had in the building # 1, was a terrible noise created by few young people That were always coming to the hotel between 2 and 4 in the morning; Fighting ,yelling,kicking doors etc. Even after complaints to the Management: We didn't have any chances to sleep more than 2 nights of 7.We are proposing the Management to ask security personal to check every floor very often and stop noisy people to enter the building....Most of the people are going there to relax : Not to wake up at 2 or 3 in the morning..No comments about all hard working people at the resort ....Thanks for their efforts ....The food totally acceptable for the price we pay. ....Also no bad comments about cleaning everywhere .The beach is permanently full of dogs ....Can you find the way to get rid of them ?

Hotel is just ok but what I didnt like is the attitude of the hotel workers, especially receptionists, security guys and bartenders. They dont give a good service, never a smile! They treat customers as if were stupids when we ask for something. They dont make us feel good. They seem to be mad all the time. Dont care about the customer! I heard the same from other guests.

We stayed at The Hotel Palma Real in Varadero Nov 7-14 2016. The resort is not located directly on the beach but that wasn' t a problem ,we enjoyed the 3-5 min walk . The beach is beautiful . The first 3 days were unable to get beach chairs so we had to pay to have chairs and a shelter ($10 cuc )over to another resort on the beach.(no sure if we should have paid as this was the first time anything like this happened since our travels to Cuba. So we started to get up early and mark our chairs(7:30). Never any problems after that. The resort was very clean and well laid out .We stayed in building 1 it is close to everything pool ,main lobby ,a la carts .The ground are well cared for . There was a bar on the main level in our building and the staff are very friendly . The room had a king sized bed . We never had any problems with hot water it was always available . Rooms are a good size. The resort is close to the markets ,The Beatles Bar, Havana Club nightclub and the beautiful park . We enjoyed walking Varadero it is very safe even at the night and so much to see and do . Our only issue with this resort is the food at the buffet . It is very repetitive . Its good but it needs to offer a better selection .There is no bacon offered in the mornings and the food that was offer at supper was there in the morning . I usually had something that was being grilled by the chef . The ice cream is the BEST . There was always lots of cakes ,desserts and fruit . Overall we enjoyed our stay at the resort and would go back in a heartbeat . The staff are awesome .

The people here were super nice and accommodating! The hotel room we stayed in was kind of outdated and dingy, but always kept clean. Can't expect too much in Cuba. I heard that not all the rooms were like that though. The hotel was gorgeous on the outside, awesome pools and a swim up bar! Super close to downtown for local shopping and also to the beach, which was gorgeous!

this was my 5th stay at the hotel. it is by far the best 3 star in varadero. the staff is great and always treat me like a king. a few tips daily goes a long way at this resort. the resort is clean and the grounds are kept nice. the buffet is repetitive but who goes to cuba for the food. breakfast is my favorite. there are many fine restaurants within walking distance of the resort. there are 3 clubs within 3 blocks. havana club on site if you are in to discos and calle 62 one block down for an outdoor salsa party if you prefer and my personal favorite the beatles club which is 2 blocks down from calle 62. there you will hear live rock music from the sixties to todays modern hits. the beach is a short 3-5 minute walk from the resort there you will enjoy one of the best beaches in the world! stop at the beach bar and get some cold drinks from kierena, she will always have a warm smile for you. when you can go to a beautiful country for 2 weeks for 1200 dollars all inclusive why wouldn't you give this fun 3 star a try!

Hotel was very good people were very good to all, grounds are amazing pools clean and music amazing. Location of the Hotel Palma Real is perfect Next street Cali62 Cuban music every night, three blocks away the Beatle bar music from the 60s to 90s Havana club next door for club dancing and excellent restraunts within blocks.People front desk very helpful every night place still under renovations but things are still under control

The grounds and pool were perfect. The beach was a short 2 minute walk away. I am an extremely picky eater and I found something I liked to eat at every meal. The staff were attentive and friendly! I plan to go back to this resort in January.

I have been to Cuba many times but never to Veradero. This trip I was travelling with my daughters 34, 22 and 20. I was pleasantly surprised by the resort and the surrounding area. The room was clean and the a/c worked! The building itself, we were in # 4 was in a bit of disrepair, but hey that shows they are working at making it better right? There are two pools, one quiet, one loud. We spent all our time at the loud pool, had a great swim up bar and lots of fun music and activities. When we visited there were two a la cartes open. Not sure if there are more. The Italian was really great!! The pizza was thin crust, fresh ingredients and so good!! The international was just ok, nothing special. You are a very short walk into town, the Beatles Bar and the Havana Club bar. You can also walk downtown and see many shops, restaurants and an outdoor shopping mall. The beach is a short walk across the road and has it's own bar with washrooms close by. The drinks were ok, typical Cuban. The coffee in the buffet in the morning was excellent. I found all the staff very friendly. I would definitely recommend you visit this hotel!

This was my third time at Palma Real and my sixth time in Cuba. My friend was in Cuba for the first time. While the hotel is dated, it is obvious that they are trying to update it continuously. The rooms are ok with good air conditioning. If you are not happy with your room they will gladly change for you. The pools are crystal clear but need work in the tiling and general appearance. The staff are pleasant and polite. We especially liked Alexander in the dining room. The food was not our cup of tea and we had difficulty finding things we liked some days although breakfasts were always good with fresh omolets and fried eggs. But having said that it was still a good value even if we ate of site a few days. The location can't be beat with walking distance to Calle 62 and the Beatles bar and Jonome park.

This hotel is the only one l go to in Veradero now it is all about the location the super friendly staff and the cleanliness of the hotel that brings me back it is just a super place to go l been for one , two, and three week stays l would highly recommend it

Hotel going through renovations but grounds were excellent place clean pools were perfect. Restaurant food was very good. Service excellent Location of hotel is perfect with everything around it.The people working there were amazing polite and always made sure you were been taken care of. Walking everywhere you need to go Cali 62 the Beatle bar and Havana Club all within 2 or 3 blocks.

We had a great times at the palma real resort ...food his good room is remodel in block 4 ...the only thing négatif is the pool guy he was unpolite and boosy and didn't like canadian ...ok but we love the place and going back novembre the 11 2016...it's the 5 time there and it's a beauty full am placement ..no taxi to paye ...sorry for my English I'm french ...

Overall good place to stay, nice people! good service in restaurants, bars.They were doing renovations, and there are lots of improvements done, and lots to be done still. Wish the foods were a bit more spiced and seasoned.

The hotel is very tourist feels, food was 3/10 they more variety and need better quality. The hotel is very nice and quite. Need more entertainment music. The facilities closed early need to have it extended. such like the pool at the bar closed at 6pm. The hotel is going a major renovation during our stay the main bar was closed but alternative one was open to the other building. The place is vey nice and safe but they need to maintain everything, food, facilities, buildings etc.Location is Great very close to the entertainment areas beach is just 2mins walk!!!Location is 8/10

Amazing pools, if you like clubbing it's the place to go as clubs are nearby. The rooms are spacious, beds are comfortable. The food is alright be sure to bring your own spices as it's pretty bland. Very big resort. Staff is nice. Daily shows and participation games in the afternoon.

THIS RESORT WAS AMAZING. STAFF WAS FRIENDLY AND THE ROOMS WERE CLEAN..I WOULD STAY HERE AGAIN..ENTERTAINMENT WAS FUN ALSO.. I WISH THERE WAS ALITTLE MORE AVAILABLE FOR CELEBRATING A WEDDING TO A CUBAN. IT SEEMS UNLESS U HAVE 10 TRAVELLERS FROM CANADA THERE IS NOTHIONG AVAILABLE ALTHOUGH I WOULD GLADLY BRING IN 10 FAMILY MEMBERS FOR THE DAY TO ENJOY THE CEREMONY. WE HAVE HAD TO RELOCATE OUR WEDDING FOR THIS REASON. WE GOT ENGAGED AT PALMA REAL AND WOULD HAVE LOVED TO HAVE OUR WEDDING THERE

This resort seemed nice from the outside. However, our experience at this resort was poor. Our A/C didn't work in our room; the bar staff at the lobby and pool area seemed pained to serve us, they were grumpy for the entire time we were there. We foolishly thought that tipping generously would change their attitude towards us; but our money seemed to add insult to injury when we tipped; seemed like we offended them with our tips. All the staff were unapproachable and extremely unprofessional, except for two lovely waiters, two waitresses and Jesus. We went for breakfast a morning only to find all the dishes that were put out for service filthy. We had to bring this to their attention and wondered how in the world they could have missed that. There were swarms of flies everywhere. Added to all the other stuff, our maid gave us one roll of toilet paper for our entire trip good thing I took my own; she even used our phone whilst we were in the room and spoke about us (thinking most likely that we didn't understand Spanish fortunately we do). I know you may be thinking that this was just my experience etc. but I'm from the Caribbean originally; it takes a lot to phase me. Take my advice and book another resort. This one needs new management and a heart.

I found the hotel quite basic and the food was not so good. I am not a foodie but we ended up eating out in the evenings There are plenty of restaurants near and not expensive There are many markets near but they close quite early in the evenings The beach is about 7 minutes walk and is lovely

I booked this resort for a cheap and quick 4 night (3 days) last minute getaway. I knew it was only a 3.5 star, so I went with low expectations as this is Cuba. Except for the food, everything was as expected for a 3.5* (simple lobby, basic older room, basic entertainment, small pool, tiny bugs crawling on the sink and furnitures etc… As for the food, I think 1 star is too high! You have to leave a $20cuc per towel deposit...which is $120 cdn for 4 towels...of course when you sell back your cuc, you don't get back the same $120 cdn. Bring your own AA and AAA batteries as both my room and my daughters room remotes had no batteries. When I asked at the front desk, they said we needed wait for the next day cleaning staff... we left and still no batteries for the remotes. I asked for a wake up call at 4 am not to miss the transfer to the airport... and of course non reliable, they did not make the call... thank god for our reliable phones. Now for the generous 1 star for the food!!! It was by far the worst food we had in about 12 trips to Cuba… mostly had stayed at 4 or 4.5 stars, what a difference a half or full star makes! The Buffet had absolutely no variety and what they had was mostly awful. It was really hot in the Buffer as I don't think they turn on the AC. The Beach Bar serves hot dogs, hamburgers and ham & cheese. So we decided can't go wrong with hamburgers. Oh yeah you can!!! All 4 of us had ants on our burgers so after taking a few bites we each found a few ants! As for the drink, it was the hottest rum lemonade or rum strawberry we ever had. The slush was water and we got 1 ice cube! (stay away from the beach bar) We tried to reserve for a la cart resto and was told they were full but to try and show up and hope for a cancellation. When we showed up and asked, they responded that unfortunately there were no cancellations so they refused to accept us. at 7pm there were a total of 6 people eating in a resto that seems it can hold at least 100 people??? We actually went to have pizza at the Plaza America mall... so image how bad the food was to actually go out to pay for a meal! The best part about the trip was we only had to stay there 4 night... thank goodness!

For the positives first. The place is clean, they are starting to put some money on the look of the place mainly decorating, the grounds are well groomed considering the temperatures in July, the majority of the staff are both warm and accommodating. The hotel beach area across the road is good with lots of sun beds, and an area where you can get limited food and beverages. The negatives. The food was very dire, lots of flies in the restaurant, even in the Italian restaurant on site so called "a la carte". Best place to go is the "La Fondu" just around the corner on the main drag where you are able to get reasonable sea food at reasonable prices and friendly staff.

Very clean resort, staff was friendly and very accomidating to your every need, food was good for most of the part but honestly a good barbecued steak back home was well appreciated! No complaints what so ever, great weather, great pools and beach:))

I do keep in mind that this is a 2 * resort. But there is no need for it to be dirty. I did not think of this when I booked it. But because it is a cheap resort, the people that are there are more trashy group. (Not being mean or rude. Its just a fact. I wish I would have thought of this befor we went.) Mind you our room was very clean. Just the public areas were dirty. (Washrooms ,pool) the lift is rotten and very dangerous they need to fix it before someone gets seriously hurt. The front desk wanted to hold my pass port for 24 hr. I had an argument to keep it my self. Service was very unfriendly. We had one worker ask us for our shoes at the buffet, we said no. She walked us over to the table. I had to ask for cutlery that same server came back and she thrown the cutlery at us. We were both in disbelief. great weather.

This resort is right in the thick of it, next to many attractions including nightlife (Havana Club, La Comparsita, Block 62 and 59), as well as Jasone Park. Food was good, and the resort staff were friendly, would definitely recommend this resort.

Received a welcome drink on arrival while we were waiting to check in. Check in time was quick. Pools clean. Room very clean - hot water available, air conditioner worked, blow dryer worked, attentive maid service every day, plenty of towels. Lots of healthy different food, fresh grilled fish every day, no processed junk food here, i.e. French fries. Close to Beatles Club for nightly entertainment and renowned Varadero beach. Great excursions available. Fourth time here... want to go again!

The resort was dated but what resort in Cuba isn't. The staff was friendly the grounds where kept up and a lot of updates were being made while we stayed. I would recommend this resort based on location beach was 5 minute walk (Canadian time not Cuban) The food was very good the one thing I really enjoyed was the fact that each lobby of your complex had it's own bar very nice. The burger bar was great for that late night snack or after a long day and night of drinking.

I feel this resort was great for what I was looking for. I don't go on vacation to get pampered like a queen, I go for the vacation. Good was good compared to others I stayed at in Cuba. Room was decent to lay my head when need be and the grounds 23rd perfect. Not too large but jus enough.

front desk people rude. rude,rude!!! would not even look up when we went to speak to them! the food and service were barely passable. if you like bikers,this is the place for you. in full leathers and colors on their bikes around the pool deck and in the lobby as well. we also got to watch the biker mama pluck her eyebrows while sitting sipping her espresso in the front lobby!!!tacky tacky!never again!!

Hotel is in need of some repairs but clean. Pool and beach were great food was a good variety every day Elevator broke down twice but was fixed quickly .there is a great flea market just around the corner of the resort and they also have some great local bars just a short walk from the resort

Couldn't be happier! Moncton, Cuba flight direct 2.5 star hotel are the best! People that go there are well aware at what to expect and not very difficult to go to. So we went and dropped or suitcase into the room, rented a car and traveled down to Vinales and up to Cayo Jutias both paradise that you should go in the world. This was a great resort, the ground were beautiful. The rooms were nice, good size, and clean. The food was good, with a large selection, we brought some spices with us but did not us them, there was a lot of dishes that we didn't what they were, so you had to try them, most of them were good. Great swim up bar and 3 other pools to use. Beach was great, just a 2 min. walk, once there you didn't have to leave because they had their own bar and food service on the beach. All the staff was friendly. Great location, you could walk down town from the hotel. We would go back again.

This was my first trip to Cuba and the Palma Real was a great place to stay. it is an older resort and it shows it places but the staff are wonderful and more than make up for the hotel. the hotel is well located with the beach, shopping, restaurants and bars all within easy walking distance. I will defiantly be returning.

I was there from March 22th to 25th.This was my first time to travel by myself. It was safe and very welcoming.The lobby was great for all drinks.I meet so many people from Cuba.My new family. The beach was beautiful.

I read so many reviews about this hotel and a lot of bad ones. I am glad i did not take them into consideration. We went for the week of April 4th 2016 and the hotel was very decent,the room was clean, the bedsheets were clean and we had an ocean view room! The service was great. The food in the buffet was actually pretty good! Better than the Iberostar in Varadero. My only advice is bring your own facecloth and a beach towel cause sometimes they run out. And lastly this hotel is all about location location location! Best location in Varadero.

This is more an old hotel trying to be a resort. It has some positive and some negative aspects but if you get a great deal and want to use this hotel as a base of travel to see a bit of Cuba (as we did) then you will be OK. Food is not bad for Cuba and the staff are hit and miss. The beds are not very good (ask for room 816, best on the resort). Buy your own booze and mix as they don't have any variety at all.

We had another great trip to the Grand Caribe Sunbeach. This is a no frills hotel located in downtown Varadero. It was our third stay in the hotel and this year I'm happy to report that our room was clean, our lovely housekeeper Judy gave us fresh towels and did a wonderful job of keeping our room spotless. The food had improved since last visit (the toaster is now fixed - yay) so that was a pleasant surprise. The location of this hotel is great because if you choose to dine out some evenings there are lots of good, inexpensive restaurants nearby. The cons for our visit this time was the presence of lots of virile cats (that were in heat - not pleasant) roaming around in the lobby and in the gardens outside. The staff did try to take control of the situation but from a sanitary point of view this needs to be corrected. The other con was the constant influx of Cuban visitors staying at the resort. The staff cater to them and ignore the other tourists. It used to be that this happened on weekends only but this year it happened all week long and was quite frustrating when trying to get bar or food service. Overall a good trip and we found that Osmandy (Manager on the front desk) continued to be extremely helpful and customer service focused.

We are a family of 4 with 2 children - boy 7, girl 16. They don't allow more than 3 people per room so we had to get 2 rooms. We all stayed in the same room and used the second for extra showering, bathroom, napping, sleeping etc. Don't expect a 4 star because you will be disappointed. We went with low expectations and although we were surprised by how run down the place was, our rooms were clean and that is the most important thing to me. Yes the rooms are dated and the furniture old and rickety, the bathrooms we had were renovated and very nice. Ask for an even number room if you want a balcony, there is always so much to watch outside. We were facing the street at the end of the entrance and got to watch guys playing stick ball every night. We went for long walks and felt totally safe, do make sure and do the orientation because Kenia has very good information and can answer any questions. People who say the food is no good, that is just their opinion. I found the food to be fine, some of it very good (chicken skewers, fried rice, plantain chips etc.). The good thing about the buffet is that each meal they offer something new. Be warned that because there are 2 grills in the buffet, you will be sweating. If you don't like to try new things there is something for everyone even bland plain white rice, salad, fish etc. Be prepared to wait in lines most of the time and you are waiting "Cuban Time". There are 4 bars, lobby, pool, snack bar and beach all of which you can wait in a line or get there at the right time and not have to wait, there are ebbs and flows to it all. The beach is a short short way across the street and there are lots of lizards in the grass off the path and on the rock walls. They were a treat for all of us. I hate public washrooms and never used these because my husband said the mens was disgusting. Don't be surprised if there is no toilet seat (at all) in your room we had one in the room we stayed in and non in the other. I was most impressed with the nightly shows. The dancers were great, the costumes colorful, the music upbeat etc. On 2 different nights we played a game where the announcer asks "Name the song, name the singer?". It was so much fun! If you got it wrong you had to give up your sandal. I won't give away anything else but the whole family played and we had a ball. There are snacks at the snack bar, ham & cheese grilled sandwiches, pizza, hots & hams. They often run out and you will wait a long time to get your food. They have one person cooking in front of you and they only make 1 thing at a time on demand. I found that most of the employees don't speak English very well, so they may get your orders wrong or misunderstand you. We met so many nice people who work there, Raul (buffet), Ariel, Lazaron, Luis, Leandro (bartenders etc.) Everyone was so nice. The beach was beautiful! The water clear and we didn't even need our water shoes because there was no coral there just soft sand. We were able to take out the paddle boats and kayak with no wait any time we wanted. There were always enough lounge chairs on the beach. Another story at the hotel, there were so few and people would go down early in the morning and put their towel on them, then you wouldn't see them all day. Good thing I brought an umbrella or I would have roasted because there is very little shade at the pool. The pool is ok and not too deep for children, there is a basketball net and you have to ask at the entertainment hut for the volleyball in order to play, you have to sign it out. There are tv screens in the lobby, pool bar and snack bar. People were really into the soccer games. There are a bunch of little things that most people complain about, table in the room was old and falling apart, tv didn't work, door got stuck etc. We also had issues but we made the best of it. Our A/C leaked onto the balcony so we ended up with a pool as soon as you stepped out the second day, we simply took one of the garbage cans and put it on the balcony, wiped up all the water with a few towels and voila! We had to empty the garbage can everyday but the low price we paid for a family of 4 it was worth the money. I couldn't go to the Best Western here for 5 nights for the price we paid per person for 7 days. Yes, it was run down and old looking in areas but it's right in the heart of the city and the flea market is literally next door, you can buy any souvenir you could possibly think of for great prices. We walked all over and again I thank my umbrella, or I wouldn't have survived the scorching sun. There are cats/kittens in the hotel, stray dogs walking everywhere even on the beach but they are friendly and not scrawny looking. There are chickens and roosters walking freely about and horse drawn carriages everywhere. Do take one of the coco taxi/3 wheeled scooter, they are fast and fun, plus it was so cool with the breeze blowing on you. The banks offer a better exchange rate than the hotel but they are a 20 minute walk in either direction which is worth it because you also get to see where the restaurants are. You can eat for very cheap if you don't want to go to the buffet. Keep in mind that the bank experience is not like here, enough said. There are pelicans on the beach, people catching crabs in the canal, people fishing etc. This place is perfectly fine and it IS WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT! We had a blast and would definitely go there again for that price. We ate, swam, danced, laughed, rested, ate some more and slept little. All in all, we had a great time!

Grounds were very kept. Food was fantastic. But limited. To eggs in the morning. I have taken my family to Cuba 12 times. And always craved Wendys when returning to Toronto. But for some reason. This time my self and the group of 8 were satisfied.on the drive home.All and everyone working at this resort.Are super kind and do there best to please with a smile.Not an inconvenience. To have you visit there resort. I have friends that have been there at least 30 times. And i will be returning there in 3 weeks.If work allows. at the very least i will be sending my children. 600.00 all inclusive. What more could u ask for. being on a budget. With 2 kids in collage.SPEND TIME ON THE STRIP LIVE BANDS PLAY FROM 12.00 NOON TILL MIDNIGHT. 2.00 a drink free pour. There is a pile to do in Varadero. unlike santa lucia cayo coco santa clara santa maria. Not being stuck at a resort playing 50 games of cards. Personal preferences. Great food at Fondue bar on calie which i believe is call 63 but expensive. Barba Coa right at the beach entrance is excellent . Travel down to call 49 at noon live bands. to call 63 all day fun. thanks Troy

This was my 3rd stay at this resort so I know and am not expecting a 5 * resort and I like to have a good time while on vacation. The customer service and building/room maintenance has declined dramatically since my last stay. Good: Location; Entertainment; Restaurant Staff & Chefs and Cleaning staff; Food Choices Bad: Long line-ups at lobby bar; Many rooms/Buildings in disrepair - mould/dampness and smells, holes in ceilings, no lighting in halls and hallways with pools of water, no more entertainment in the lobby before dinner BUT good entertainment at pool & evening shows. Terrible: Front Desk check-in and customer service was the worst. My experience checking into our room after a day of flying was so bad that I will NEVER stay at this resort again. Reception staff were less than honest and helpful.
