not too much food was limited ,too many cubans in the hotle eating like pigs/travel from cayococo to caricok was too much ,would never go back if they dont change that cayacoco airport.that is one of the reasons the hotel is empty

I really enjoyed my vacation in the caracol hotel and everything was great specially the beach pool and food and I really liked the hotel and services and I wish to be there soon with my family and friends and enjoy our vacation together ?

The Food was exceptional. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Beach is amazing. Tractor removes and washed up seaweed early every morning then beach is raked by hotel staff. Walk almost every day to neighbouring villages without fear. Staff and villagers very friendly

Fast check in .rooms very clean,nice layout with cosy sitting area off bedroom,bathroom updated with rain shower head, small balcony for two.bed comfortable with large pillows. Cold bar fridge .the grounds kept up and well groomed.the dining room a bit small but the food was average .service great pasta station great. The alacarts great ,the Italian the best with super service. The bars 3 all ok but lacked variety ,also ran out of mixes such as tonic water ,lemoned juice ,mint ?Ran out of hot water phoned front desk the service man was fixing it within a half Hr ,overall the service was great and often would go out of there way to help.

Hotel “Amigo Caracol” at Santa Lucía beach, Cuba is newly renovated. The rooms are spacious with an entrance including a sofa, chair and a little fridge. The rooms are with balcony. The buffet restaurant is spacious as well, but it is very noisy(because the ceiling is low). Some times, there are flies around the food. The beach is well maintained.Staff is professional and friendly. We had a wonderful time. We would like to visit hotel “ Caracol”,when the flights from Toronto go to Camagüey (not to Holquin, because of the 4 hrs bus ride).

This was my fourth time in Caracol.The rooms are very nice, everything is very clean...including mattresses, curtains, furniture in the sitting room, the bathroom are spacious and very clean. Personal is dedicated to their work. The food is plentiful.,,In the restaurant you have so much meals to combine. The entertainment staff works practically the whole day, and specially in the evening.Very talented young people. Great service at bars. Beach is good and clean. Great vacation.

Have been to the Caracol a couple of times and Playa St. Lucia many times. The Caracol is a nice hotel, good food, friendly staff. It was pretty quiet with an older crowd in comparison to the Mayanabo the same week which was quite rowdy. That beind said it was the worst bus transfer between airport and hotel. 3 1/2 hrs to hotel and almost 4 hrs back to airport on a road that had long sections of almost impassible pots holes (travelling at 5 kph for a good portion). Will not return via Holguin (was advertised as into Camaguay but re-routed to Holguin) as the additional time and discomfort was not worth it.

We weren't expecting much as it was said to be a 3 star, but it was more worth a 4. The food was delicious, the drinks a plenty.. To bad the water bottles was only .50 cuc. Pool was not excellent but better than all the other resorts in the strip, cool and refreshing and clear-ish. Some staff ( bar staff )could be more smiley or appreciative.. Beach clean and large. The resort itself is spacious , room to roam. Wifi available in 3 areas. Make sure to buy enough internet cards when arriving, they run out. Bring mosquito repellent on muggy nights. Had a great time will definitely come back when i can.😊

As the previous time hotel grounds were nice and clean. More than enough variety of food for not too picky person. Entertainment was better 4 years ago. Beach cleaned every day. Other public beaches in the area very dirty almost dengerous to walk on. Both buses I was traveling in with quite dirty apolstery.

This is my fourth time after a long time. Everything is good with exception of few things. Too much flies in the dinning room. They need to label all the food. They tend to put pork in everything. (eg. Yuca with a little bit of pork) I am not eating pork, so I cannot eat the Yuca. Not everybody eat pork or beef.

Hotel Caracol has the best and cleanest beach. It has the best frontage and the beach staff work very hard to maintain it. other beaches have no frontage and are not tidy, The hotel is very, very clean, the staff all around are most pleasant and helpful. The front reception are most helpful and very informative.. thank you to Naomi and Alena for taking care of me. Rooms - oceanview, are perfect , the bed was very comfortable. The food was fresh and well presented. I was vacationing for 1 week and have already booked a second vacation for January 15 for another week. I recommend only this resort in Camaguey

We have been to this resort several times and as always the trip was fantastic. Looking forward to going back in the future. The staff is very friendly. The animation team are always fun to be around and the overall vibe of the resort is like family. A small resort where you can kick back and relax.

I have stayed at this hotel 4 years ago. About 1 hour 40 min from the airport. It has since been renovated very nicely..Rooms have been painted, new floors, new washroom, nice modern tiled showers with rain head and hand held shower option, no bugs, I had ocean view room, right on the beach. Buffet nicely renovated, food is o.k. , good breakfasts, good pasta section with pizza. The Buffet also has had major renovations. Looks very nice and modern and clean. The snack bar has good burgers, ask for well done, good hot dogs.. clean new washroom at snack bar area. This hotel has the best beach of all, wide and workers on the beach try hard to keep it raked and clean. good lounge chairs.... I will certainly return before the price goes up later this year. Relaxing resort, well kept attractive grounds, nice staff. For TV programs, no Canadian news or English movies if you plan to watch before bed. 95% Spanish TV. I needed to have repair done as the shower needed a seal near the shower door, it was done same day I requested. There is a small commercial center next door, with restaurant, snack bar, convenience store where you can buy bottled water, etc. less expensive than at the resort. There is also a Bank to change your currency to Convertible Pesos.. better rate than the hotel. You need to bring your passport for the bank. Very safe. There is security on the beach at night.

Great hotel ,rooms new clean and lots of hot water. All of the staff went out of there way to make our holiday great most spoke some English. The food most nights was pretty good with a surprise out side barbecue of pork chops and chicken.The grounds were well kept ,with the beach kept well groomed .Jeniffer always informing us all the activities and events going on during the day.The bar drinks were OK ,lots of cold beer ,service was fast and always smiling.The pool clean all the time ,but the liner is in need of replacement as it has a few tears! Overall great hotel a pleasure to tip as thy really appreciated it .will recommend going to this hotel.

Very nice hotel for the money. Good service. Very good entertainment. Staff was very friendly. The one complaint I had was the room safe did not work and was forced to pay for one ar the desk for duration of stay for the week.

I was in Caracol again after 5 years. The resort is renovated. Bathrooms are nice and new. I had hot water everyday. (Some people complained that they did not). The beach was clean, however there were some weeds and rocks in the water. Food was ok. I like fish and Ihad it everyday. Staff is nice as always. In reality I can only complain about the weather.

Rooms are nice and spacious, food acceptable when there are no local tourists, entertainment poor, beach poor, lots of weeds and stones, no interesting places to visit, will not recommend !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

This was our third visit to Caracol and we had a great time.The weather was perfect, the beach was amazing and the food was very good.We arrived at the resort after 11 p.m but the restaurant was kept open for us for late supper.We were welcomed by the staff like family.This resort welcomes families,couples and older clients who mingled very well together.The resort is "seniors" friendly with ramps,walk-in showers and easy access to all the facilities. We enjoyed every day of our stay and look forward to our next visit. Special thanks to David for great massages and Rosa our maid.

Rooms are great. Food very goods ( strange for Cuba ). Grounds very good. I have stayed in many resorts in Cuba. By far this is the best I have been to. The only negative would be the coffee was not top notch. I do expect this at a Cubain resort

The overall grounds and room was fairly clean people hard working,friendly also entertainers was phenomenal so friendly, l would definitely recommend to my friends and family.l would like also to give a big thanks to Sanchez,Lizette ,mishele,Juan Carlos for making our vacation extra special they are just the best. Will be going back for sure.

The ground is not bad though not perfect. The rooms after the recent renovation are very good especially the shower toilet area. In fact the rooms have three enclosures: 1. the entrance room with a sofa, an armchair, a refer and the exit to the balcony with a small table and two plastic (brand new) armchairs on it. 2. the bedroom with a new AC and a new TV. 3. the wash room. The beach is a good one and they groom it well. The food is way better than it used to be two years ago. There is a good variety of drinks including my favorite Beefeater. The entertainment here is one of the best. One has to take into consideration that the majority of the guests now are from Italy though we got along with them very well. The Canadians are represented by a much smaller number of guests than two years ago.

We stayed Mar 30th-April 6th 2017. We received a warm reception from check-in staff and porters.The free bottle of sparkling water was appreciated but needed a bottle opener.(none in the room).This was my second visit to Caracol and the 4th for my companion so we knew what to expect from the suites which are newly renovated and up to date.As I have mobility issues the walk -in showers were a must for me and thanks for the rubber bathmat.Thanks to Rosa our maid.The beach was beautiful and easily accessible.We swam every day. Thanks to the beach staff who set me up with a chair ever day as loungers are difficult for me to use. The Animation team was terrific,very friendly and provided lots of activities on the beach every morning.Something for every one from darts to dance lessons.Night time entertainment was very good.Plenty of choice at the buffet and great wait staff.Had 2 great sessions with David the masseuse-highly recommend. Everyone we met were also enjoying their vacation at Caracol. Thanks to all the staff .We are eagerly looking forward to our next visit.

The Caracole rooms have been given a face lift since my last stay and look great with a nice upgrade in the bathrooms. The safes have also been updated . As always the maid service was great. The dining room was fine, linen always fresh and the staff attentive. There was always fresh fish and shrimp on the menu and you can always find things to fill your plate with. Lots of fresh salads and veggies. They have the most amazing ice cream that's made locally. The coffee is excellent and all the bartenders make a mean cappicino. The grounds are emaculatly kept and the beach was fabulous, the loungers seemed to have been recently replaced. Security keeps the beach side vendors from bothering you. The evening show put on after dinner was enjoyable and they change it up nightly. The front desk will change money for you so you don't need a trip to the bank. This is a great place to just relax and hang out at the beach. The snorkeling is excellent.

Bravo to the staff of the resort. The most wonderful place to be. Small quiet and calm. Very friendly. The beach/pools are very nice. The food is the best we had in Cuba. Can't wait to go back.

We just loved the resort. The staff, entertainers and guests are all great ! We made many friends. The resort is beautiful, clean and friendly. The beach is nice , there is some sea weeds in the water but it is soft to walk on. The food is the best we have ever had in Cuba, very good italian style food. Would go back in a heartbeat.

The newly renovated rooms are beautiful.Very stylish and the bathroom is tres chic ! I appreciated the walk-in shower as I have mobility issues. .Our units in the 500 block were central to everything with easy access to the beach The beach .was clean,plenty of umbrellas & loungers .The water was clear & warm. The entertainment was very good and all the staff were friendly. The food was fresh & plentiful but a bit repetitive,but since we have been to Cuba many times we know it depends on the hotel chain as what to expect. We had a great time

Rooms were the best part of the resort. The food was the same the Italian animation along with Italian Chef and customer relations were rude didn't even bother with you unless you were an Italian from the mother land Italian Canadian didn't cut it. The beach bar was slow half the time no food there always said"he's gone to get more good" returned an hour later. The beach was nice but I will not return I gave it a chance and I will never spend money for this resort again nor will I fly Cubana airline ....no soda, just a warm drinking box seats small terrible experience...I'll stick with what I know and out of the 4 hotels in this area the Italians can keep it because it will never work for them oh last thing the Italian chef should be careful to speak Italian and trash Canadians you never know who's listening and what they understand. Disgraceful and bad representation of Italians because I know that's not what they are like just these people

I've been to this resort a few years ago, from what I remember , my group went back for seconds at dinner! This time, as a vegetation, EVERYTHING HAD PORK IN IT. I went for he seafood sauce, and asked if it contained meat in SPANISH, chef said no. Giant chunk of pork the first forkful I took out. I left pissed off and hungry. My nephew also got a plate with some mystery white sauce that tasted RANCID. Renovated rooms were gorgeous and had a nice big bathroom. The service was great, the same bartenders as before were always the sweetest, and this one lady would not serve my boyfriend at the bar! He said he stood at the barfor 10 minutes as she ignored him! My sister went to the shop, and the women were all sitting around talking smack about my sister in Spanish!!!! Little did they know, she understood every word they said and was very hurt. They were lucky it was not me in that shop.... we tried to book a fishing trip, and they fishermen said they couldn't take us out until the day we were leaving, even though their itinerary said their schedule was from Monday to Sunday. The hola sun rep sat there and screamed at them on the phone and got all shaky and frustrated. again, I'm on vacation and this left a bad stressy feel to the trip. aboard the catamaran (I went fishing on this same boat with the same crew) they lied to my face when I confronted them about not taking 7 of us out(my entire family was let down) out fishing ..he lied and said they used a different boat that was destroyed in a storm. They were also gossiping and talking vouy me in Spanish on the boat. Staff needs to be retrained it fired because that is absolutely unacceptable, and I feel very insulted. At some points I felt like the cubans were racist and resentful towards us, and I've been coming there since I was 2. I am now almost 30. I'll never go to this resort again.

we were privileged to visit Bravo at the opening A lot of changes , in the last 6 years since we go to this resort ,we like BRAVO , CARACOL for a lot of reason it is small, family oriented , friendly ppl , this year we took our family of 7 ppl , for this reason and we had a vacation they will not forghet soon , The ages from 13 to 66 years old were happy , IT need improving in the area of food , , ex,, more greans more fruits and vegetables , it is the seasons of, avocado and NO avocado in site also local fruits that we Canadian travel there for , also ,, for the temp , at this time of the year to much mixed cold salads , also NO variety of breads , , deserts , limited to Cuban cakes , NO Italian deserts at all being a mixed Cuban Italian we expect to have a coffe with biscotti hope it will be available at our return to the hotel in the winter ,

Much better than expected. Very comfortable and accomodating almost anybody's vacation needs. Food was a daily show of visual esthetics and quite good tastes. Entertainment was like having Brodway quality spectacle everyday and different from the previous one. Who need to go to heaven if You could go to Caracol and be surrounded by that nice people. Sports to address your needs and adrenalin level. Ocean or Coral reef are self-explanatory. So if that is not enough then nothing will ever be enough.

The hotel is not that bad but not that good either.The food not so good. The time we went they were always running out of food.Cannot seem to get hot water in the restaurant the water is tepid.Not enough servers . We have to help ourselves.

The grounds were pristine, the staff amazing, so helpful, friendly, kind and just all around wonderful. The entertainment and entertainers was amazing, sooo much fun. Our trip Rep was always available and so helpful, and very friendly. Thank you.

The resort was ok. The grounds and property well kept. The food lacking but ok. VERY limited selection probably due to the resort being at less than a quarter capacity. Hola sun rep was awful. Seemed miserable all the time and avoided clients and found it an inconvenience to answer any questions you may have. The beach was nice but water very weedy. The entertainment staff was awesome.

No Hot Water. Rooms very dirty. Food is horrible. Service going down hill. Save your money. Go somewhere else. We complained about our room and nothing was done all week. The guy at front desk doesn't even acknowledge your presence.

This resort was great at one point. it has since deteriorated. Food was not good and staff seemed overworked. The beach was full of seaweed and not pleasant for walking. There is absolutely nothing outside the resort.

This resort is excellent for kiteboarders. Steady wind for 11 days non-stop (April 5-17). Resort itself is great too. Friendly people, good food, comfortable room. Will definitely back as soon as possible.

Beautiful grounds, very friendly staff, family and child friendly. My only complaint is I found the tour guide lady gave a very enthusiasti welcome on the bus but afterwards she was not very clear about how to set up any excursions or to reach her on the phone. I also highly recommend that anyone who loves swimming the ocean takes a trip to Coco beach - because the reef isn't there the water has less seaweed and is a nicer swim.

an amazing resort. The entertainment staff is top notch. They made everyday a great experience. The nightly show was great. The beach and pool were great. The buffet was ok, however the sandwhich bar made up for that. The service was amazing. We would go back anyday.

Hotel was ok and the food not the best but who goes to Cuba for the food? Our room was great like the idea of having 2 separate rooms. Staff great fun and really enjoyed the disco. Excursions are offered and had a great time at the King Ranch. Beach was great alittle windy but still got lots of sun. Great value for the price for sure I would recommend this resort for a vacation.

This is the first resort that I have had things stolen from my room. I brought 23 kG with me to give to the locals apparently that wasnt enough approximately 100.00 worth of my personal stuff was liberated from my room and gas was stolen from my scooter. The first scooter that I rented pulled hard to the right and stalled and wont restart after stalling. One of the locals helped me and I returned the scooter after i paid 6 CUC to fill the tank. I was then taken to another resort to exchange the scooter. After wasting half the day refueling the new scooter and doing the paperwork I was on my way. I retuned the scooter 3 hours late after a 5 day rental and was charged extra money. What a joke. This is my third trip this year to Cuba every time I booked with tripcentral, every trip i have requested a ground floor as I have problems with stairs all three trips I have been placed on the top floor. I guess its time to try a different travel agent.

Caracol very good; management trying their best esp. public Relations Ladies Outside, which used to be the charm of Santa Lucia, now reduced to Policia being a corrupt and harassing force killing any sympathy any Canadian could have for the Cuban way of life . A disgrace to see "Adolf" pick up and arrest Cubans all over. The tourist beach party used to be called "White Party" now called Blue Party (more Police then tourist). Caracol Hotel still the better of the two Amigo resorts but the Food and Beverage policy should be reviewed

Stayed at theClub Amigo Caracol this past November for a week.Hotel was well kept and clean, staff were nice (especially the towel lady). Never got to know or see our housekeeper. Food was Cuba usual, very good pasta bar. Very yummy pina coladas at the lobby bar! Beach was cleaned every day but big seaweed problem at the shore. Recommend water shoes for the ocean.

Last year (November/December, 2013) we visited this hotel for the first time (I wrote a rather extensive review on TA on December 16, 2013) and we decided to come here once again, booking our vacation over two months in advance through Hola Sun. Two weeks before departure we emailed the hotel, asking for an ocean-view room on the upper floor, in the 500 section. Since Air Cubana allows almost 50 kg of luggage per person, packing was a breeze! The flight departed on time and after exactly 3 hours and 30 minutes in the air, we landed in Camagüey. The buses were already waiting for us and the ride to the hotel went smoothly. ROOM We were assigned room #514 (last year #510) which was almost as good as #510, we even had the same maid as last year, Marta. Since the water was heated by solar panels (located on the roof), sometimes we had plenty of very hot water, at other times it was just lukewarm, yet it was not a big deal for me, but Catherine missed a hot tub bath. The air conditioner worked great and sometimes we used it, although we preferred sleeping with the windows open (maybe because of that we had a couple of critters visit us-we found a small crab and lizard in the room, both totally harmless, and gently moved them outside). Most of the time it was very windy and we did not find mosquitoes to be a problem. The small fridge kept stuff cool, yet barely. Last year we could watch CTV from Toronto — this year the only English language news channel was CCTV (Chinese, in English), which I did not like. Although neither of us has/watches TV in Canada, we were a little disappointed that we were unable to watch Canadian news and only several days after the municipal elections found out who became the mayor of Toronto and Mississauga from newly arrived tourists. The maid did an excellent job cleaning our room. We approached one of the gardeners and he was very happy to supply us every morning with 2 freshly plucked coconuts; they were delicious! Unfortunately, when it was raining, water leaked in through the window seals, flooding part of our bedroom. BEACH During our stay (two weeks), we had at least 3 rainy, very windy and cloudy days, yet there were enough sunny and hot days allowing us to spend a lot of time on the beach. Due to the reef, located several km from the shore, it was possible to swim even when it was very windy. The tractor collected sea weed from the beach every day, thus keeping it clean. From our hotel room we could see a boat stocked on the reef; according to several Cubans, it had been there since the end of December, 2013, when a group of Haitians tried to flee to the USA and instead ended up off the coast of Cuba. The government of Haiti was supposed to come and get the boat, but I doubt it will ever bother. We left our towels on the beach chairs and they were always there after we returned. Plenty of security guards patrolled the beach and we felt very safe. From time to time we saw Cubans walking along the beach, selling hats, shells, jewelry and sculptures. I bought two very imaginative sculptures, carved in one piece of wood; the seller was happy to accept, as part of payment, a t-shirt and my backpack, although he intensely eyed my Coleman watch, wanting it very badly! We met the ‘famous’ George, who speaks English and French, he was always willing to arrange various services to tourists — in fact, he made several phone calls on his cell phone to a few casas particulares in Camagüey and later we gave him a lift to Camagüey in the taxi. We also gave him a bunch of Canadian, American and British magazines and newspapers. Last year (2013) there were about 50 kite surfers who overtook not only the beach, but the swimming areas along the whole beach, making swimming very risky and unpleasant. This year there were plenty of signs on the beach, indicating ‘kite surfing free zones’. There were just several kite surfers, yet on at least one occasion, they deliberately were kite-surfing in the swimming area, just meters from the shore, yelling out expletives as they were flying by. FOOD As always, the food was good and plentiful (although repetitive) and there was always something delicious to pick. Most of the time we skipped lunch, instead going to the beach bar (El Velero) for a hamburger, fish & chips and cold beer. It was possible to have dinner at the adjacent hotel, Gran Club Santa Lucia (get a voucher from the hotel) and we had two of them. Whereas the dining area at the Gran appeared to be more expansive, with much nicer décor, the food selection was, surprisingly, inferior and limited. The Club Amigo Mayanabo was closed during the first week of our stay; when it opened, we also succeeded in having one dinner there. There were very few guests, but the food was good and somehow different from ours. We also went to the a ’la carte restaurant twice; the first dinner was very good, the second one (return guest appreciation dinner) was very limited buffet-style and below average. One night the hotel was celebrating its anniversary; the tables & chairs had white tablecloths and there was a grill set up outside. Catherine was in awe at the amount and selection of food. By the way, in 2013 there were 13 cats in front of the restaurant; this year we did not see more than 3 — supposedly they (were) moved to other hotels, but somehow we did not believe that-we joked that they were in the cat heaven… Except for an occasional mojito and cold beer, we hardly ever had any drink at the bar. It is a good idea to bring a bigger cup, as theirs are small and flimsy. On weekends the resort was full of Cubans; some of them stayed there for a night or two, others only came for a day. I was told that most of them come from nearby communities. HOTEL STORE/MONEY EXCHANGE The hotel store (tienda) had rum, liqueurs, beer and many other items and souvenirs. I wanted to exchange money at the airport, right after we arrived, but after lining up for a while, I gave up. It was possible to exchange money in the hotel, but we went twice to the commercial center between the Club Amigo and the Gran (Cadeca at Centro Commercial Santa Lucia). I was told that a copy of the passport was OK to exchange money; for VISA card advances original passports were required. There was a small room with three computers & internet connection in the lobby, but we never had a need to use it. There were at least two pay phones: one at the lobby bar, another in the block ‘400’. For 10 Cuban pesos (Moneda National!) we purchased a phone card which worked great! The card could be purchased from a telecommunication company located very close to the gas station north of the hotel (near the tall communication tower). ENTERTAINMENT We never went to see any show nor participated in any other activity (i.e., bingo). But from our room we could hear loud, obnoxious music every night and often during the day — and most of the time it was NOT the traditional, Cuban music that I had come to associate Cuba with, which is such a pity! Very often the activities during the day were so ear-splitting that we did not find it pleasant to sit in the lobby bar. Once we were using the pay phone at the lobby were almost unable to conduct a meaningful conversation. BIKES & BIKING TRIPS FROM THE HOTEL There were about 10 bikes for rent and the first hour was free. Unfortunately, most of them were in bad shape and needed simple maintenance tasks such as putting more air into the tires or adjusting screws. Teresa, the lady in charge of bike rentals, told us that somebody from the nearby village was supposed to come every day and fix the bikes, but he never did… We rented them many times, riding to the village of Tararaco or in the direction of the gas station. In Tararaco we went to the “Organic Restaurant and Gardens” whose remarkable owner, Braulio, we had met last year. We spent a few hours chatting with him, drinking his delicious, organic juices, having dinner and wandering in his amazing garden. We also visited his booth in Tararaco, where fresh sugar cane juice was served (see a separate review). One day we hired a horse carriage and went to the picturesque village of La Boca, which we had visited in 2013. Many Cubans told us that Russians were planning to build two luxury hotels in La Boca and eventually relocate La Boca’s residents. I hope the hotels will be nicer than the notoriously ugly hotels built the by Soviets in the 1970s and 1980s (think the Mayanabo, Havana’s Tropicoco Hotel or the ‘barracks’ in the Club Amigo Guardalavaca) and that local residents will be properly compensated. While the carriage driver was waiting for us, for over two hours we were walking along the old coral beach, in front of the houses. I managed to find some of the people I had met last year and gave them their photos and they were thrilled to get them! We met an older gentleman who was making fishing hooks, using a piece of metal wire. There were a few casas in La Boca and we wanted to visit one of them, but it was closed (see a separate review). RANCHO KING AND CAMAGÜEY Since we booked our vacation through Hola Sun, we enjoyed extra benefits: we were staying in the Hola Sun section, had a free safe in the room as well as enjoyed a free trip to Rancho King. Even though we had taken this trip last year, we decided to take it again. Once we arrived, we were welcomed by the same horse-riding team of 5 cowboys as last year and given very interesting, informative and humorous presentation on topics pertaining to the rancho & its history, herbs, plants, sugar cane, agriculture, hurricanes and local residents and their way of life. We visited a school, Cuban village, a house where Fidel Castro had once stayed and later had lunch whose main dish consisted of a roasted pig (see a separate review). This was NOT a party resort - it was quiet, clean, nice. Staff was good. I slipped on the pool deck - very slippery when your feet are wet - might want to wear some type of footwear. Minimal activities, but enough if you are willing to participate.

This was my 5th visit to Santa Lucia but 1st stay at Amigo Caracol. I have a Cuban friend who worked at this hotel and recommend to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised, the check in went smooth and well organized. First impression was that the resort appeared more inimate than next door at Gran Club. Most staff I met were friendly and helpful as I was on my own and not framiliar with where everything was. The lobby bar was well stocked, but I am more of a straight rum and beer guy and did not look for anything fancy. My room was close to the to the gym facilities and was well appointed with a nice balcony view from 2nd floor. Housekeeping was excellent and I appreciated the attention to detail, as I am not the most tidy guy while on holiday. Dining room facility was well prepared and food selection was as expected. I am not the most adventrous when it comes to resort food but found my choices well prepared and plentiful. Coffee cup was always kept full and much appreciated in the morning because I always needed a wake up. Entertainment I cannot comment on to much as I was rarely in resort in the evenings but, the nights I stuck around it was lively and energetic even though the crowd was thin. Next visit will be at Brisas with some friends but would not hesitate to recommend and return.

A magical little spot with the best most welcoming people. Weather is warm, beach has lots to see. Pool bar is amazing with great fun staff. Always feel very safe. Hotel is clean and comfortable. Food is just fine, if people stop saying the food is awful they will realize it is actually good with lots of healthy choices. Bread is amazing, fish is wonderful. Haven't had a bad meal yet.

I have been going to this resort for the last four years, and I enjoy my stay there every time:) It is the best resort in the area. The staff are so friendly, and kind to everyone. keep up the great work!

Throughout our week vacation at Caracol we were continuously entertained and had the time of our lives. Caracol is a great place to to do just about anything! Already planning to go back! Cannot wait!

This was my second time to Club Amigo Caracol! The weather was beautiful and the staff were fantastic! They have made some really great changes such as relocating the snack bar to make it closer to the beach entrance. Our room was perfect and very clean everything functioned well and we always had hot water. Overall a great resort with lots of bang for your buck! I hope to return again soon.

This is not a 5 star resort, but then we didn't pay for a 5 star resort. We stayed at Club Amigo Caracol the end of November 2013 and were pleasantly surprised by our room, the food, the pool and the staff. Our room was bright and clean with excellent A/C, and updated bathroom, the food was excellent, truly delicious and reasonable variety,(make sure you try the grill on the beach) and the staff were friendly and anxious to make sure we had a good week. The beach is not my favourite beach in Cuba but if you are a wind surfer, you will love it, but the pool was clean and spacious with lots of lounges and shaded areas, so we didn't mind. The evening shows were fun and for those that like the night life, there are two local clubs right at the end of the driveway so you can just walk to it. We travelled with Hola Sun tours and flew on Cubana Air. Our tour company agents were very helpful and the complimentary excursion was well worth taking the day from the resort giving a chance to see the nearby countryside and understand how the average Cuban lives. The only problem with the flight was the stop in Varadero ended up being twice as long as it should've been making it very late getting to the resort. Fortunately the resort kept the buffet open late for us and were very quick to get us registered and to our rooms in a timely fashion. If you are looking for an inexpensive vacation where you can have a lot of fun and make some great new friends, then give Club Caracol a try. It is very important to remember, that any trip is what you make of it.

this place is not where you want to bring a better half, food is lower end Cuba, its clean, frig is a keeper? not cold at all.they try but it just doesn't happen. Been all over Cuba, this place "trys"
