Martine Reid No beach but an abundance of beautiful pools. The only con: one worth noting-is the lack of a diversified menu. There were several restaurants, but the selection was limited. The food wasn’t bad, except for the Italian food. The pros are many: Excellent staff, exceptionally clean and modern rooms. If food is not your prime concern, this is a worthwhile space.

I was so impressed with the quality of accommodation and selection of amenities including the spa and gym which we used daily before our 1 hour walk down the beach. The resort staff were above and beyond and very friendly. The restaurants were amazing and the food was the best I have ever been served at a resort. Mexico has a 8000 year old history and there are archeological site you can also visit.We look forward to our next visit to margaritaville in cancun !

We had a wonderful time at the resort and loved the boutique-like feel. We found it super clean everywhere. The staff were all amazing, friendly and went out of their way to help you. The beach was really nice, though breezy every day. They were cleaning sea weed on the beach twice daily when we were there but you could easily avoid it in the water. All the food we had was great and the drinks too! We really didn’t like the chair hogs, however that comes at every resort. And the locals that came in twice through the week to sell their wares we found to be extremely rude and pushy when trying to look at their stuff.

When I booked our trip to Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancun Mexico from Hamilton the Trip Central website showed a morning flight. However it immediately changed to an evening flight, when I brought this up to my agent, I was told they don't see a morning flight on their end. However I showed them a video that clearly showed the time change, they replied by saying that's strange but did not offer to look into what happened or fix the issue. I did not want a late day flight as we lost the entire first day of our vacation. My next issue was with Transportation. We landed in Cancun at 8:15pm yet did not arrive at our hotel until 1:30am. Why? A minor issue with our planes gate being occupied (1 hr), an average wait for our baggage (30 minutes) and 3 hrs waiting for Nexus the transportation company that WestJet works with to get you to your Hotel. After exiting the airport we made our way to the gentleman in the orange shirts in charge of getting us onto our shuttles and to our hotels. They had an IPAD with a spreadsheet with all the reservations and hotels. We approached one of them to check in and to be directed to our bus. They took our name said wait here and they proceeded to leave 2 full planes worth of passengers to wait for hours as they walked in circles constantly looking at their lists with confusion platered on their faces. When they finally did put us on a bus there was no guide welcoming us to Mexico, explaining the currency or when to meet your rep at the resort like we usually receive during the drive to our resorts. there was only 1 driver and too many bags. he had to stack them at the front of the bus, and remove them with each stop so the passengers could get off. We were the second stop, They took us to the wrong resort. There are two Margaritaville's both Trip central and WestJet need to learn about the resorts that their customers are staying at, and ensure they are delivered to the right place and that their paperwork matches this. We tried telling this to the driver however he couldnt wrap his head around this, so we wasted another 20 minutes as the security at this resort tried to explain it to the driver. My last issue was that there was no representative to speak to about our return trip home, no note under the door to tell us when to meet with them. So on the last day when we checked out at 11am we asked when our pickup would be for our 9:30pm flight home. We were told we should have came to our meeting? What meeting? SO the man at the desk made me call and arrange pickup for 5:50pm we were told to be waiting no later than 5:40pm. They did not show up to get us until 6:30pm, most likely because they went to the wrong resort to get us. I have used Trip central many times to book our vacations, I often tell friends and Family to use trip central. However with so many issues with timing & transportation. I likely wont use them or WestJet in the future. Why use a travel agent if they don't offer any added value? anyone can book a flight, a hotel and private transfer online. An agent is supposed to make these things easier. Not this trip!! The Hotel was fabulous! I would return, but I would book and plan very differently next time!

The hotel was really nice but very limited activities. Food was ok. Limited restaurants that close early. Service was ok. for a 5 star I was expecting exceptional service and food. The beach is small. two steps from the Canbana and your are there and lots of seaweed. They could at least clean it up. The hotel is beautiful.The entertainment wasn't that great. If you like an older crowd 50+years and couples old this place is for you. It is a quite hotel if that is what you are looking for. I found the hotel to be a lot cooler in terms of temperature than other places in Cancun. If you want to stay at a really nice hotel with not much to do, This is the place for you

Our experiences at this resort (first visit) was exceptional. The staff were amazing... Especially Diora (events coordinator) and the poolside DJ was so friendly (we played some very eclectic music together) and were a hit with the bar crowd. The food was very good. we were surprised at how long and hard the landscaping crew spent keeping the beach clean and (somewhat) free of seaweed. Our butler, Ericka, was exceptional and meet our every need, including getting me a personal cushion for my pool lounger. Will definitely return to this resort.

My partner and I stayed for 4 nights. We loved how clean the resort was, it was well maintained. The boutique style made it easy to access all the services. We stayed in the backend on the balcony it was cozy and private.The staff was personable and friendly. If you are looking for an intimate resort, Margaritaville is it. We noticed that staff checked the water quality in the pools every morning. It was the perfect getaway to relax and reconnect. The food was incredible, everything was gourmet style although the portions were smaller we noticed the food was rich and good quality. We also took advantage of the late night room service. We made lifelong friendships at the resort because we felt safe everyone there was kind and genuine. The entertainment was late night karaoke and themed nights, please note this isn’t a hardcore party resort it’s more of a chill and intimate space to reconnect. We also enjoyed that it wasn’t too far from the airport.

The resort was very beautiful and well run. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Check in and out was a very smooth and quick. We were greeted with a glass of champagne. It was a pleasant experience. The gardens were very well kept and lush. The beach unfortunately was not very nice with tons of seaweed on shore and unable to swim in the ocean with red tide most days. We did not see anyone in the water. Our room was in the adult section, building two. The room 2423 was very nice. The view was beautiful overlooking the pool area and we could see the ocean from our balcony on the 4th floor. Unfortunately the view from our door to the room overlooked a sewage treatment plant. The plant spewed methane gas and the sewage smell was nauseating. We would not recommend staying in this wing of the adult section. The adult pool was limited in lounge chairs and there was no shade after 11 am. It was difficult to get a place for the day unless you woke up at 6:30 am to claim a chair. The food was very good in all the restaurants. Le Chique restaurant was truly a wonderful experience. A definite must if you stay at this hotel. The tours were well planned but we had an unpleasant experience in Playa del Carmen. We were scammed from a vender into buying a necklace that was supposed to be 14K gold and found out it was silver with gold plate. Not what were expecting. Beware of anyone that approaches you saying he is your pool bartender. On a positive note we did like Mexico, the people and our resort.

First time in an all inclusive resort.The resort was fantastic an the staffwas friendly an courteous,an they treated our entire family with respect, an they ensure my daughter who had a severe peanut allergy was taken care off .Not many activities for my teenage son.For a family friendly resort Azul beach resort is the place.

It was our first all-inclusive experience and it was a fantastic one! The service was impeccable. The food was great. Rooms were lovely (although I would have like to have known how much for the rooms that have the swim out option). The sofa bed was very uncomfortable but we got a roll away bed that was great. Very convenient that room service was included. You could not beat the staff - very friendly and accommodating but not over the top and in your face.

Our experience was beyond expectations. We stayed at Azul Beach Hotel from January 29-Feb 5 2018. We received impeccable service starting with our concierge Jacob, and the dining was five stars. Very gourmet and healthy. Don’t think you will be receiving American style huge portions. If you are hungry order an appetizer too, the menus are designed as multi course experiences. Drinks were awesome. Lots of signature drinks with fresh fruit and herbs. Our kids (6M and 3Y) had a great time at Azulitos play area and we used the nanny service twice. The ladies there (Tonya, Azi) were so great. The beach was glorious with white soft sand and the beach cabanas with butler service were a real treat. You can reserve one once during your stay and it is lovely. The pools are well maintained and the kiddie pool is awesome- large and lots of lounge chairs for both adult and kid sizes. We never were short of towels or beach or pool chairs. We are definitely going back.

The grounds were clean and well groomed, the pool was clean and the rooms spacious. The food was not the best we have had, but the people made up for that. All of the employees are so friendly. They could not do more for you. The beach is not great as the seaweed is thick, but they are working at keeping it as clean as possible all day long. I gave pool/beach a five star because the pool was fantastic.

The best part of this hotel for us was the room. We had a one bedroom jacuzzi pool view that enabled us to lay my son down in his crib in the bedroom, and still have use of the room and large balcony. There was also a zero entry pool that was great for him to splash around and play with a few toys at. We even had a visit from some monkeys one day! The food was good, all the restaurants had high chairs and different food options for our toddler. We stayed in the older section which was centrally located to everything. Very good for families with young children!

A wonderful resort, excellent staff. Beautifully kept and maintained, the food and service excellent. .Catered our nephews allergy issues, our grandchildren had fun. We will definitely be back Restaurants were amazing, shows worth seeing

The grounds, upkeep and cleanliness of the resort were fabulous. Service very attentive and top notch. Staff wonderful and Food excellent !! The beach staff and Concierge were very attentive and service on the beach was over the top. The only thing I would have asked to change was that the entertainment in the evenings should begin earlier - 8pm rather than 9pm

I love the resort concept of the pools winding through all the villas. The food and restaurants were all excellent. The service staff, were for the most part, friendly and accommodating. The grounds were impeccably clean and beautifully manicured. I love the beautiful flowers and variety of plants and trees that perfectly framed the villas and public areas. I wish the groundskeeper are compensated for their hard work which often goes unnoticed, unlike the servers and bartenders that get tipped every time.

Nice small resort, very good food and service; on a level higher than typical Mexico resorts which are already good. beach has seaweed, but cabanas were very nice. Rooms were well kept and clean, room service was fast and very good. Family friendly.

The best resort I have ever experienced. Food was amazing, the rooms were nice, and the service was great. They have a great kids club, which has various activities for kids that are 4 or older. If your child is under 4 you have to stay at the kids club with them or pay $20 a hour for babysitting.

We went on this trip with our 18 month old. The resort was small which was really great getting around with a toddler. The supper menu and service was very good. The kids menu was not great but the restaurant was able to make whatever you needed for kids (for us that usually included fish, chicken, rice, peas, avocado ...). Restaurant didn't open until 12 for lunch and did not have a buffet which was challenging for us due to our child's nap time. We used room service quite a bit - the food was good but very inconsistent (something would be missing or different than what we ordered), and sometimes took over 30 minutes to get breakfast. The beach is great - clean, calm and warm water. It was perfect for kids. None of the pools had an extended shallow shelf so that was a bit challenging. We had a 1 bedroom swim out room which was great during nap time, and gave us enough space as a family. The swim out pool was connected to a swim up bar and was heated and extremely warm. All in all, we had a great trip!

Very family and baby friendly! Vacationed with a 9 month baby and very accomadating to us. Small quiet resort, beautiful grounds and great food. Staff is incredible, friendly, quick and always remembered our names.

very good. rooms and food could use an upgrade but this is just a suggestion not a complaint. excellent service. lunch buffet might be more convenient. shuttle service to town also suggested. overall excellent

Travelling solo to the Mayan Riviera first time. The resort was truly a 5 star. Up there with Sandals. Lovely staff, great food, right on the beach (not a 15 min. walk like other larger resorts) spa, relaxing lounges/ beds right on the ocean. Clean, modern rooms with fab concierge service. And plenty of excursions to keep me busy. Did I mention the great staff? I am taking my kids back next year!

This was a lovely location for a wedding. The resort is small (approx. 130 rooms) and there are a lot of places to relax, eat, drink, or just lounge in the sun. The service was terrific - attentive but not overbearing. I especially appreciated the restaurants - at the door, we were asked about food allergies and substitutions or changes were made for each person.

We travelled to the Azul Beach resort in early February and were completelly satisfied when we left after 7 days. The staff clearly has been picked knowing they will be interacting with children most of the time. Everyone was extremely nice. Food was always good, sometimes amazing (Room service beef burritos were a favorite). No need for reservations for dinners / lunches and always plenty of booster seats and high chairs. Not once did we wait more than 2 minutes to be seated for dinner, and the breakfast wait was less than 5 minutes. The crib / bottle warmers / steamers and strollers were in the room on arrival. Access to a doctor was incredibly fast when our son fell ill from a bug he caught on the flight there, and treatment adequate. The beach was wavy and windy first few days, but the last 4 were amazing. Clean up crew is on the beach each day to minimize algae. Access to covered beds on the was a slight annoyance, needing to stand in line for 30-60mins for access the next day, but well worth it. Concierge service was without reproach. The playrooms are a must to get out of the sun / occupy the older than infant/toddler stage. We didn't meet anyone having fell ill from food/water. Exceeded our expectations. We will be travelling back to this resort in the very near futur.
