could do with elevators at the pool side area up to the rooms as there are a lot of older people who struggle up the stairs and more toilets especially near beach its a long walk to the dining room washroom

The Rui Palace Mexico is an excellent resort. The beach is beautiful with loads of chairs. A little seaweed once in awhile but there were large areas where water was clear. The waiter brings a tray of drinks while you are lounging on the beach with alcoholic and non-alcoholic choices. The food is terrific. Tons of selection. Love that the breakfast is open til 11 am. The a la cartes are great, no reservations required. The entertainment is very good. We loved the layout of the hotel. Areas are broken up into smaller rooms so it's not crazy noisy with a lot of people in one area. Service is great and place is spotless. They are always cleaning something. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious - beds are very comfortable. Staff come in 2-3 times a day to make up beds, load the fridge and coffee stations, turn down the bed in the evening. It was great to be able to tour the other Riu's. Playa del Carmen is walkable and it was fun to explore 5th. Ave. Always felt safe. Security at hotel was great as well. We look forward to returning next year.

I visited that hotel over 6 times before, this time everithing was great the same as all previous vacations there. The place oz beautiful, fopd is great, service is perfect. I love the place, will be coming back for sure

It is great place to go for vacation, all 5 stars. I would like to thank to everyone who is working at this hotel, we had amazing experience staying there. It was our second time at this resort. It was our trip to celebrate my husband 60th birthday and I have emailed to resort informing and asking to prepare some surprise. Everything was done perfect. Also, I have checked out and left my jacket at room, they were not able to find it but next day they emailed to my advising that my jacket is found so our friend who still was in the resort picked it up.

Very good quality hotel, nice pools and gorgeous beach! Service is amazing. Did a lot of resorts in the past but this was the best service I ever experienced. You can find all the food you can imagine at the buffet. The a la carte restaurants are nice but nothing special.

To start, we always stay at RIU's, in different countries. This stay at RIU Palace Mexico we booked the Superior Junior Suites and was worth the bit of extra money for the great view. The room was so clean and spacious. These rooms are like an open concept where you can view the bathroom from the bed which isn't ideal for privacy but our particular room had a curtain divider (which you can tell had been later added). That was nice. Time from airport to resort: From the time the plane landed, collected luggage/customs, waited for the bus/van and arrived at the resort was 2.5 hours. The drive from the airport to the resort is a little over an hour. tip: Make sure you take a washroom break at the airport before you go outside to wait for the bus/van. Things we liked: bottled/can beer and pop in all the restaurants and bars. The grounds were spotless, staff friendly, our room was very clean, bed comfortable, balcony was a great place to relax and with a nice view. Food was plentiful and many choices even for a non-meat eater like myself. We were up and out by 6:30am to get beach chairs saved if we wanted a particular spot. The staff everywhere at this resort were wonderful! The beach was clean other than the seaweed days. The red flag was up the whole week so very large waves. We walked to a wee small market outside one day which is 5 minutes from the resort, the normal souviner stuff. Things that we were not so happy about. The nighttime entertainment was just "ok", nothing great but it passed the time. There was a piano player in the lobby most nights but he was way too loud and same old music each night. The resort bathrooms were awful, not always clean and well they stunk as it's quite humid maybe leaving the doors opened would help. There is only one bathroom for all people at the beach and the pools so there is always a lineup. The pools were just ok so spent our time at the beach instead. We attended the Neon party one night at the RIU Tequila (across the street) but there were so many people there we couldn't get into the theatre. Would we return to the RIU Palace Mexico again? Probably not, but nothing against the resort we just like trying different RIU's in different countries.

This was our first time at this resort. My husband and I will definitely go back again . The staff was amazing, the food was delicious , and the accommodations were comfortable. Furthermore, they keep the hotel super clean at all times. Easy access to the beach. We always were able to find a beach long chair , no matter the time of day. A few things that could be improved was the size of the toilet in our room. We had a Jr Suite, which was very spacious. However the separate toilet area was very small. Also, the ladies bathroom that was at ground level next to the Mexican Restaurant was often not very clean, compared to everywhere else in the hotel. We did not use the pool, because it was extremely hot . Not refreshing at all. We preferred just going to the ocean. Having said that, everything else was great. We enjoyed the night entertainment, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Great resort!

The hotel was beautiful. The staff, grounds, service, meals, presentation, cleanliness & room was amazing. I was very happy & impressed with everything. I even made some nice acquaintances at the hotel. I wasn't once disappointed in anything. This was my first trip in many years & it was so worth it.

This resort is not like 5 years ago, this was our second stay there. Quality is way down, very noisy resort, not family friendly regarding the noise at night, no kids activities and the way some groups of people behave even if there are children around. Food is ok, not good selection of alcohol drinks, the resort is clean, so bottom line, this is not a 4.5 stars resort, maybe 3.5 stars.

The grounds were extremely well kept...The washrooms were always clean. The staff was very friendly. As a senior travelling alone i always felt safe. I love RIU for that reason Wish you had special rates for seniors wanting to travel alone. I might be able to come more often

Great staff at all levels. A very impressive and clean facility.. Guests rooms are more than adequate. Beautiful sand and sea, pools and bars. Food at main buffet and pool side buffet.more than satisfactory.

Very beautiful hotel located in the gated community, super safe for evening walks. The lobby gave us that retro vibe. The whole hotel is filled with inspirational art pieces. The atmosphere is very welcoming and warm from all the hotel’s stuff starting from reception desk and ending with waitresses, maids and gardeners. This was the first time when we didn’t feel harassed for tips and people actually did their job. Didn’t spend time by the pool at all as for us the beach was more important. The beach was very clean and specious. No matter at what time you come there are always plenty of reclining loungers available. Food was very fresh and always new dishes. Very big variety, we haven't had a chance to try out everything. We were emptying our plates every time, the food was very tasty and not overcooked. From day one, never had a problem with an upset stomach. We really enjoyed our stay inn and we will be definitely coming back.

To start the experience was great the staff very friendly ther we're always cleaning somewhere on the resort which was great the food was outstanding always had a variety at the three meal sittings never wemt hungry we would consider this resort again. There was a little rain the odd time but didn't last long just a few minutes thanks for helping us out with our travel plans hope to do business with you again.

Our 6th stay at the Riu Palace Mexico was excellent. We love this resort: it is clean and well maintained, beach is beautiful, food is very good with plenty of selections and service is excellent (even better than before Covid). It was all great, except for the endless seaweed, nothing that can be done about it. My earrings went missing, they just left a note to remind me to put valuables in the safe, but stole the gold earrings.

Our room location was adjacent the Yuchatan resort, which was noisy at night. Great front desk people, very helpful and dedicated with any request. Buffet workers, cooking staff, and outfront greeters were very human and personable, hand selected, you can't train people to act and honour guests as they do with humility and grace. Cleaning staff were polite and thorough. Our chose of vacation resorts, wherever, will always be RIU resorts. This is our 3rd RIU resort visit.

Beautiful hotel, well maintained rooms and grounds kept clean. Lots of covid precautions in place with sanitary gel at entry to hotel and restaurants and masks mandatory except when swimming, drinking or eating. temp checks also done before entering restaurants. You feel confident they are taking necessary steps to ensure safety of guests. Front desk was very helpful in arranging PCR test for return to Canada. Test conducted in your room and results come via email next day.

The hotel was lovely but when we arrived there was three adults sharing a room and we were given a king size bed. As it was late we waited until the next morning went to the front desk to ask for a different room. They gave us a room with a pull out couch that was just a foam mattress that would have been suitable for a child. We asked if they could bring in another bed in to the room. They said no but put a small pull out mattress on top of the sofa where I slept for the next 10 nights. We never received a discount for the third person in the room ( I have in other hotels before) and feel this wasn’t a proper way to treat the situation. The hotel staff at the restaurants, bars, ect where great and overall would have been a perfect vacation had they just given us another bed. Thank you.

The trip to Riu Palace Mexico was amazing. We checked out all the Riu resorts and were extremely happy with our decision! Staff was INCREDIBLE especially Mendez (server breakfast and lunch buffet) and Francisco from (lunch buffet & Mexican restaurant). The entertainment team was AMAZING! (Joe, Waleska, Andrea, the assistant manager and EVERYONE ELSE whom I forgot the names of) They were extremely fun, welcoming and always made sure you were enjoying yourself and felt welcome. All the staff were kind, ready to help and incredible. I cannot wait to go back. Thank you to everyone at Riu Palace Mexico for making my trip amazing & thank you to Natausha from Trip Central for always being able to help out with questions and advice.

We just returned from the Riu Palace Mexico ,overall we had a very good Holiday, we had spent a vacation there seven years ago and enjoyed it then so we brought our friends and family down this visit. The travel agent Jenn Black was good setting up our trip,but we where to have a room set up for three people and when we got there we had two double beds and a couch with no pull out. We had to wait a day to get a room with a pull out,not sure who was at falt there all I know is we paid full fair for all three of us No Discount! The resort is beautiful and the grounds are kept perfect,pools Resturants are clean and well kept. The best part was the staff they can't do enough to help make your trip enjoyable, the Bar/floor manager Hermain went above and beyond to make our every day special,please let the Riu resorts know what a valuable employee they have in Hermain (not sure of the exact spelling of his name) We do plan to return to this resort again. Lovely wide, long beach which is groomed everyday. No reservations needed for a' la carte restaurants and can go as often as you wish. Food was very good. Service was excellent. Rooms are starting to show their age, but still comfortable. Felt very safe and bonus being able to visit nearby Riu Hotels for shows and food. Nice being able to walk to Playa del Carmen.

The hotel is very beautiful, clean , the personal are great and helpful,the food is amazing,so many different dishes and very tasty, food for everyone. We will definitely go back there.We have been in many all inclusive vacation in different places, but this one is the best.

We stayed in this resort June 18-25, 2019. The weather was beautiful and we really enjoyed our stay. The beach was fabulous and very relaxing. Even though there was some seaweed and the shore wasn't always pristine, we noticed workers constantly cleaning and working hard to keep the beach clean. The food was delicious and seemed as if it was made out of the highest quality ingredients. However, the most enjoyable part of every meal was admiring the presentation of the food, and every single decorative piece in the restaurants. The front lobby staff were all very accommodating and helpful. They answered all of our questions, gave us excellent suggestions, and overall made our experience flawless. The rooms were always clean - we loved the special touch of leaving little chocolates and folding our towels after every cleaning. All personnel were very helpful and overall we had a wonderful time. This is our second time staying at a Riu resort, and we would recommend it to everyone!

The staff and ground staff were all excellent. Everyday things looked prestine. The buffet had great selection and we were all very content. The steak house had very good steak which I had not really expected in these areas. The other Alcarts we did not visit as you had to have long pants,and I would think dress type shorts would be fine with most people. Weather was the best I have enjoyed in many years, have stayed at this RIU about 5 times and the surrounding RIU's another 6or 7 times. Overall was an excellent vacation from the snow.

Clean, well-designed, great beach, delicious food, nice staff. Great layout and all the amenities are easily accessible. Water in the pools was a bit cold, even during the day. Fun shows at night and animation staff are very nice. All resort staff were quite attentive to needs of guests

The rooms were amazing and always cleaned nicely daily. The grounds around the resort were always tidy and clean. The beach was nice lots of chairs and many shaded areas. The food was amazing and lots of different items to choose from ther was something for everyone.

My spouse and I went to the resort for 1 week this March. It was our third times at Riu Palace Mexico and our fifth times at the Riu complexe in Playacar. So no need to say that we appreciate very much spending our vacation at this resort. The main reasons: the food is excellent and the beach has a lot of space for everyone whether you want to be in the sun or in the shade. The rooms are comfortable and the staff very welcoming and friendly. I just want to say a special thanks to Miklos who has been very understanding about one of my concerns. When we arrived, we were assigned a room with a balcony that had no glass but a concrete wall. I had request, if possible, an upgrade because it was our 5th times at the complexe but mainly because I was also celebrating my birthday during my vacation. Reading on the balcony is very important for me during my vacation and I do so every morning while my spouse keep sleeping. I also do some yoga on the balcony. Not being able to see the ground, trees and sunset was upseting for me. Some people may like the privacy of a concrete balcony, but I don't. The day after my arrival I went to speek to the manager. Miklos listened very well to my concerns and made sure that I had a room with a glass balcony for the next day. Thank you Miklos for doing everything to make my vacation more enjoyable. Everyday I had a surprise when we came back to the room at the end of the day , whether, flowers, chocolate, Happy Birthday sign and even a Tequila bottle the day of my birhtday!. Thanks again to all the Riu Palace Mexico staff for making my stay a memorable one !

Well kept hotel and grounds, excellent staff and service. Amazing beach, lots of palm trees for shade and beach service was excellent. Food was very good, breakfast and lunch buffet style. Five a la carte restaurants for dinners no reservations required, just show up. All were very good with lots of choices, decent wine and excellent service.

the ground the building and restaurant were very clean. The beach was amazing. Only issue at the beach was the beach bar was too far. The people are friendly and willing to help. Very good services. Some people did complained about the air conditioning in their room, we had no problem.

Loved the hotel. Beautiful. My only complaint was the weather. Very very hot and humid. I would only return in the Winter months. A friend's allergies were bad because of a moldy smell. I loved the shopping at 5th Avenue but again it was too hot to enjoy. The food was the best I've had at any of the resorts I have been to.

We were very pleased with The Riu Palace Mexico. The staff were extremely friendly and very accommodating. The facilities were beautiful. The food was amazing both at both the buffet and the a La Cartes that we went to. The rooms were spacious and the bed was very comfortable.. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

From the food to beaches, everything was top notch. Will definitely come here again. They have tons of food choices and dessert items. In room service is great! Everything is close by so you don't have to walk alot.

The Mexico Palace is beautifully situated and very impressive, our room was close to the beach and overlooked the grounds. The only draw back for the week was the noise at times it was loud as they were hosting weddings but it was usually quiet by 1 am. The food was unbelievable and the Jacuzzi tub in the room was well used, we did have a few ants in our room as I think the previous occupier may of left food out but they came and sprayed and it was fine after the first night.

This is my husband and my 17th time to the RIU resorts in the Mayan Riveria. We decided to stay at the RIU Palace Mexico for the first time and we found ourselves constantly comparing the RIU Palace Mayan Riveria to the RIU Palace. The air flight and transfers to the Hotel went without any problems and the smaller vans that are now being used allows you to arrive at your Hotel quicker which is a huge improvement and very much appreciated. This also was a first for us travelling in March as we have always visited in October. To compare weather you can have rain either season.The sea was very rough. It is warmer in October. The food, the service, the cleanliness was excellent. The RIU Palace is a larger and more modern resort but my husband and I feel more at home at the RIU Mayan Riveria. The entertainment team during the day was disappointing at the RIU Palace as we were use to the team interacting more with you and trying to learn about you and entertain you. The shows at night at the RIU Palace were very entertaining. I only wish that a 10 day stay could be arranged., 2 days are lost travelling leaving only 5 days to relax and enjoy everything that there is to offer. However our much needed get away was everything we expected and I am already looking at booking in October. You can never go wrong with the RIU Hotels.

We have been here before and will be back again. There was absolutely nothing that we would criticize. One day while we had our afternoon coffee in the lobby Cafe, departing guests came to embrace the employee who runs the Cafe - they were just like family. Waiters in the specialty restaurants exchanged names with their guests and talked about seeing them again "next time". My husband and I are seniors who travel quite a bit and who enjoy quality service, and this was it. Other reviewers will tell you about the great beach, the friendly activity staff and the waiters at the beach who served drinks non-stop.

The room was very clean, the food was delicious, the staff were very accomadating and very polite and friendly! We stayed for two weeks and loved the resort and the location. We went March 29, 2016, the weather was beautiful. It was quite damp when sleeping at night. We will definitely be back!

Pool water (too) cold; WIFI at pool (and at times elsewhere) usually not available. Other members of party were taken 2-hours out of their way because driver went to wrong hotel, but these are relatively minor inconveniences to a nice vacation.

Riu Palace Mexico was an amazing experience. Not only we had convenient access to all amenities in our resort, we had the benefit of accessing ALL other Riu resorts within our proximity (there were at least 3 others from receiving our gold band). At the same time, none of the other resorts were able to access ours, which meant that all the facilities and services were strictly given to the Riu Palace Mexico visitors. No line up, no crowd, there was always space on the beach no matter what time, and the amazing staff are only attentive to YOU. We are now definitely looking into staying at other Riu Palace in other resorts & countries for vacation. Not worthy to stay in other resorts. The location was amazing too. Just walking along the shore, Riu Palace Mexico had the least seaweed (evident enough since the crew cleans it everyday) in comparison to the other Rius. It was also a 20 minute walk from Playa Del Carmen or a 4 minute drive. Across the street, there are nice little boutique stands & shops that provide cheap Mexican authentic artifacts. The food was great! Not once we complained about the food (and we are very picky eater). We love our food fresh and you can tell the ingredients they use are definitely fresh. The spices and such were amazing and right on (didn't need to put salt or anything on them to add flavour). The cleanliness of the resort including the rooms were beyond average. Never complained about a single bug and etc. The crew constantly cleaned the whole resort every second, every minute. The staff's service was amazing. They were sooooo attentive to each person. I've seen people not leave any tip for the crew, yet the crew still treat them like they've just received an amazing tip. Everyone smiles, and everyone remembers you. For their hard work, it's hard not to leave them any tip. We had servers that see us and automatically puts us on a beachfront view at the restaurant, and then brings us our beer and juices that we normally order. They are very, very attentive. The entertainment isnt the best at Riu Palace Mexico since it ends quite early (around 11). But they definitely make it up as they offer transportation and pick-ups after the resort entertainment to go to a club with the crew. Also, just right across the resort are the other resorts known for livelihood and crazier crowds (you cant just go there too and take advantage of their entertainment and drinks). This resort is really meant for some peace, quiet and relaxing nights. They do have entertainment going on ALL day, so it's perfect for the early birds.

The hotel was great and while smaller than resorts I have visited, it was lovely. The hotel was very clean and our room was always maintained very well by housekeeping staff. The food in the buffet was always very good and most importantly, did not cause any upset stomachs for our family. We travelled with our 11-month old daughter therefore would suggest that families travelling with young children request rooms away from the entertainment stage as loud music will occur until 11 pm each evening. The hotel has 4 pools and there was never a problem finding chairs in the shade and sun. The beach was nice however had a lot of waves. Overall, the trip was memorable for our family.

this was by far the most amazing trip we have taken the resort, service and staff the food and the day trips, the beach and shopping all excellent, My wife and I are already counting down the days when we return for next years vacation.

Great food, grea staff, wonderful nighly entertainement, beautiful decor, great view from our room. Great shopping withim walking distance. The alacarte restaurants were fantastic. The maid service was great.

We loved the riu palace mexico. The room was modern, clean, and more then enough room. The shower was amazing, two shower options and a spa bath tub - never ran out of hot water. The serive is great, as we find at all riu palace resorts we have been. Food was great, no complaints. We love seafood, steak, eggs, cheese, fresh veg and fruit - so it was all good. The entertainment was great. Fire show, native show, Hollywood, casino, it was a to of fun. a/c gym was great and so was the 24/7 which I got a mocha from every morning after the gym :)

This resort is by far the best one that I have ever been to. It was very clean/spotless, the grounds and the hotel are beautiful, the staff are so friendly and can't do enough for you, the food was incredible and the restaurants have a great décor. The beach was perfect, beautiful white sand and lots of mature palm trees for some shade if needed. We will be going back next year.

The resort was beautiful. The beach was gorgeous. There was a fair amount of cigarette buds on the beach which was pretty gross, and a bit of garbage too from people not cleaning up after themselves. I didnt like our room very much, only because it was right beside the theater so on the night we went to bed early, we couldn't sleep cause there was constantly loud music. The room was also very moist. Clothes that were dry, became damp and nothing every dried unless you put it outside. The food wasn't the greatest either. There was alot to choose from but nothing tasted good.

Food is really good. Staff is tremendous, but we have found the staff in Mexico to be good everywhere. The resort is smaller than some others, so there is lots of seats, tables, reservations, activities and loungers available.

Unbearably damp room. Ugly new color scheme and bad bathroom design. Cheep and bad table wine, even in the specialty restaurants. It is not the resort it use to be, even in the service and the visiting crowd. Stay away.

The grounds and gardens are beautiful and well-manicured. The cleanliness and attention to detail is really admirable. The rooms were very nice, spacious with comfortable beds and superb showers. We did not find the open concept in the rooms to be an issue. The only negative aspect about the rooms and our general stay at this resort was the slight musty smell in the rooms. They put us on the 2nd floor in the rooms facing the water fountains. I was told 3rd floor rooms don’t have that musty smell. The food is incredible, we have stayed at all inclusive in Cuba and DR and I can say this is hands down the best. The food was changed on a constant basis with theme nights at the Don Julian, the large buffet dining area. Everything was tasty and well prepared for dinner. Breakfast items are vast with made to order omelets and eggs prepared in any style possible. If the dining options at the Don Julian become old, there are 4 specialty restaurants to choose from. There is a diverse choice of a la carte restaurants available. The Steakhouse was our favorite restaurant, had a great location next to the beach and the food was top notch. The alcohol is abundant and high end. We enjoyed watching the World Cup during our stay. The bar staff was constantly walking around ensuring everyone was OK for drinks and appetizers. Pool areas are clean, although we spent most of our time at the beach. The beach is amazing, surrounded by palm trees, white sand, clear/turquoise water. There was never a struggle to find a beach chair in the shade or sun. This is was my first time at a Riu Palace Resort and I shall return.
