Sunscape Cozumel is a 3 star resort and not a 4 star as advertised. There was one pool and 2 options for meals. There was a very limited number of dishes at the buffet. We had a number of issues with our room including a balcony door that did not lock and a door that that did not seal shut. The entry mecanism was quite tempermental. There was a lack of towels in the room. We had to repeatedly ask for hand towels and facecloths. We had to repeatedly ask for soap at the bathroom sink. There was body lotion but no soap, which meant the need to go into the shower to get bodywash every time we needed to wash our hands.

In 50 years of travel, this was the worst experience to date. We arrived late at night and after a lengthy check in we're left to find our room in the dark by ourselves. The room was dark, smelly, small, dirty and in poor repair with an ac unit that sounded like a 727 landing in the room. I pulled back the bed cover to reveal dead insects and skin debris off someone's nasty feet. We requested a room change and were offered for just $500. USD an upgrade to include use of 3 resorts along with a high pitched sale to join the Unlimitied Vacation Club. We declined and were given a new room that was acceptable. There are 2 restaurants, Italian and Asian with limited choices in each. I was unwell and missed a day of my stay as I was in bed. This was a first for me to get sick while traveling but the food is that bad. You have to save a chairs on the beach by 6-7 am and this does not ensure they will not be occupied when you arrive foe your time on the beach. We had people just take over our chairs and towels and refuse to return them to us. The only positive was the staff, they work hard to really try to please and are working with limited resources . Do yourself a favor and don't pick this resort. I read the bad reviews and thought how bad can it be? Well it was bad!

Rooms rundown. TVs not working in the entire resort all week. Hot water slow to come out. Food not good no taste overcooked few choices. Only 2 resturants lineups at peak dining hours. The Secrets and Dream hotel guests could come over and use our one pool take our chairs and eat in the 2 small restaurants and we could not use their amenities. Staff wanted us to move to Dreams for 300 US dollars and kept asking us daily to sign up for preferred membership. From what we saw it didn't really look much better at the Dreams and Secret hotels. Our pool was family friendly and the beach was nice. Only one bar and alcohol was watered down not tastey . When you are on holidays you hope for good food and drinks not at this resort. I am not a picky person. If you don't mind overcooked greasy food not Mexican then this is the place. If you wanted a beach chair you had to get up at 7am to put your towels down. One morning our towel and chairs were taken while we were at breakfast. Every man for himself. I would not go to this resort even if it was offered for free. I have travelled to many all inclusive resorts and this was the worst. Nothing to do in the evening only one show all week.

I want to start by saying that we’re not picky travelers and usually enjoy wherever we go, but this experience at Sunscape Cozumel was beyond disappointing. This is our second time in Cozumel, and I can confidently say I will never return to Sunscape—even if they offered me a free stay. From the moment we arrived, the front lobby staff was aggressively pushing a $380 US massage package for one hour (per couple). Of course, we declined, but it set a bad tone for the rest of our stay. The worst part was the food. There are only two restaurants on the property. The buffet is only available for breakfast, and for lunch and dinner, you're forced to endure a slow, painful à la carte experience. Each time, we waited 30 minutes just to be seated, and another 30 minutes to be served. I can tolerate the wait if there’s a varied menu to choose from, but both restaurants had just 6-7 options, and the menu never changed. It felt like we were eating the same limited choices over and over again. The lack of variety, the frustratingly slow service, and the overall lackluster dining options were a huge letdown. It’s hard to relax when you’re dealing with such poor food service, and I would never recommend this resort to anyone. If you're looking for a place with decent food and a better overall experience, I suggest you look elsewhere.

We had a wonderful stay! This is a 3 1/2 star resort, so go with that expectation. The rooms were nice, we were on the 2nd floor with a garden view with a peak of the ocean, very nice. We were thankful we were not on the ground level. The grounds were kept up beautifully and the staff were very friendly. There is a buffet restaurant and an a la carte, food was good, but a bit repetitive. The pool had a kids slide, not a relaxing spot as loud music was normally playing. We were there at Christina,, so a busy time, chair had to be 'reserved' with towels just after sunrise of we would have been out of luck. The swimming and snorkelling was amazing, just off the beach. I liked that it was a smaller resort as well.

The hotel was small, with only 1 pool and 2 restaurants. It is sandwiched between 2 other newer 'sister' resorts that we could not use. The rooms were small, beds were comfy. The staff were outstanding and made this resort what it was. We enjoyed our stay. Food was mostly good, as were the drinks, coffee and ice cream.

the resort was great wish there were resturants to choose from since they only had 2 , the pool was good could have been bigger but was very quite during the day witch is nice and the staff was amazing.

Amazing trip! The hotel looks good. The room are wide and comfortable but need some maintenance. The service, food and entertainment activities were great. What i did not like that there was no wifi service for free of charge at the room. I have enjoyed a lot the beautiful sunset and Mango Tango drink. I highly recommend Sunscape for low budget trips to Cozumel!

Small pools. Chairs broken. No chairs available unless up at 9 am. Buffer is outside and poor at best. Rooms are good. Food is average and room service excellent. Good staff though and always pleasant. Need water shoes for beach. All coral

The beach was nice, don't forget to wear water shoes, you will need them. The grounds were kept nice and clean. Our room was nice, it was located in the section near the quieter pool. The food was so-so. But I read reviews and I was expecting it. What I didn't expect was to get some kind of stomach bug caused by either the food or the drinks. They didn't really clean their plastic glasses very good at the bars, so that's where I think I might have picked something up. My husband got sick as well. The staff were very friendly and I think they work really hard. Would I go back, no. It was not worth the money we spent for this all inclusive.

We traveled to Cozumel with Air Transat, arriving at 10pm and into the hotel by 11pm. We had requested a King Bed. The room we were given Saturday was two double beds. On Sunday they told us they were full but could get us a King the next day. Monday we were given the room with a King. It was quite clean. the bathroom had new tiles in the shower, but the door showed signs of long term damp. The shower was great, both temperature and water pressure. the room was cleaned every day before noon. Since our new room was close to the lobby, we were able to walk over for WiFi. The bar in thP lobby had great Cappuccino that we got each afternoon after the beach. The room was the furthest away from the Portofino Buffet restaurant, but close to the lobby and pool. We enjoyed meals in all the restaurants and were not disappointed. The bar service was excellent, with drinks served daily on the beach. We loved the beach and snorkeling daily. There were lots of chairs available on the beach in the shade and sun. The pools were busy and popular. The older buildings are in need of a face lift, but the newer ones look very nice. The weather was terrific and we thoroughly enjoyed our trip

We were at Sunscape Sabor for two weeks and enjoyed the smaller resort experience. It is older and does not have the sleeker feel of newer resorts. The biggest plus for this resort is the staff – all were extremely helpful and pleasant. The rooms are very clean and the beds are comfortable. Good curtains to keep out the light too. The bathroom could use an upgrade but was clean and tidy and there was plenty of hot water and towels. The air conditioning worked well and the room had a safe, fridge (filled with water and soft drinks), coffee maker, and a TV with a variety of channels. The walkways around the resort are winding and have steps and ramps so they may not be easy for someone with mobility/balance issues. The pools were clean and beach towels were available at your convenience (no chits required). We enjoyed the buffet restaurant for breakfast and most lunches. We also tried the Mexican, Italian, and Grill and all had a nice selection of tasty food. The beach is small, so chairs are closer together than on larger resorts, but there was usually no problem in finding a chair by the beach, or by the pool. There are also hammocks dotted around the length of the beachfront. Swimming off the beach is ok (saw lots of fish) but beach shoes are handy as the water is very shallow and there are lots of rocks and coral underfoot. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Only downside for us were the people who played their boomboxes at the beach and pool without using earbuds (we were not as pleased with their music selections as they were)!

We had a Pool view Suite room 3623, room was large and very comfortable. The restaurants where good, we liked the Italian and the Mexican always found something to eat. I think the food is the weakest point of the resort as the buffet is small. The beach is nice white sand but it stops at the water, then the reef starts you will need water shoes or very good sandals to get in the water very rocky. For us this was not a set back as the reef is protected so they can't add sand, the diving and snorkeling is great. This was our fourth time to the Sunscape Sabor - Secrets resort. The people are the main reason we return to Sunscape Sabor, Victoria (beach service) is the best always made sure my beer was full after a couple of morning dives. Like everything in life you get what you pay for if you want a higher end stay, then stay at the Secrets. If you want good value for your money and you are vacationing to dive and snorkel then stay at the Sunscape Sabor. We will be returning for sure!!

Staff were AMAZING. The grounds were NICE. The rooms were OK. Only OK because the dresser is very old and we had to ask for it to be fixed cause one of the drawers wouldn't open. Geared to families with children. There were fun activities but a heads up there is NO adult swim bar. Most excursions are close BUT cab fare is not reasonable. There is no sharing cabs to cut fares down you just get charged double if there are two stops. This was our first time in the sun and we were completely satisfied.

Beautiful hotel. Aged, but charming. The water treatment was really quite smelly but that is life, can't be helped. Our rooms were late to move into, that was disappointing but then again, it happens. Very disappointed to not get the rooms that we requested which were the partition walls in each room. We travelled as a family of twelve, so were thrilled that the kids with children got large rooms with the tubs on the balcony. This however didn't make up for the fact that the grandparents couldn't babysit the kids in their room because there were no partitions. The children got kids tv channels, we requested to have our tv fixed but it didn't happen. First room we had the air conditioner was extremely loud, I couldn't sleep. We were able to move the next day but still not the room we requested. They said at the desk that we requested a room with two double beds, no way is that true. Our travel agent said that we would get the same rooms, with the partitioned doors, so why the miscommunication? upsetting, but this did not ruin our vacation. Food was good. We had a lovely family time together.

This is our third time at the hotel. The first time I was not too impressed. It is a 3 star hotel. During our second visit, things were improving. But this time, not as good. Our room needs a lot of work. Everything is old and run down. Very simple. We were travelling with a f group and both of them had leaks in their rooms. It rained a lot while we were there and water came in and soaked beds, floors. One couple was offered another room, the other person was offered a room, but it was in worse condition than the first. Even the lobby roof leaked! Beach is okay, pool fine. Restaurants were fine, nothing fancy. Not much entertainment at night. Staff is ok, but not extraordinary! Don't think we will ever go back.

The rooms were not in good shape, the food was good, service mediocre at best. Not much more to say, there are a few good people at the resort. Two members of our party had to move rooms because it rained and the rain came in their rooms.

It is truly an excellent resort although the only negative thing is that some [ not all ] of the rooms are being up graded and some have not been up graded at this time . The food and restaurants are very good and the staff is excellent . They will bend over backwards in their service . The resort is also very clean .

Sunscape Sabor was a lovely family-friendly resort with something for everyone to enjoy! The grounds were lovely, with beautiful garden and beach views. The beach was beautiful and had spectacular views along the coast. There was amazing snorkelling right off the beach and at the pier and the resort had so many activities for adults and kids alike to enjoy all day, beach or poolside. The food was good and there was plenty of variety; we especially enjoyed the Portofino Buffet, which had amazing views of the beach and coast. Each day had a new theme with local and international cuisine and dishes. Between the buffet, bbq and snack stations and restaurants, you could pretty much eat whenever you wanted! The staff were friendly, courteous, and helpful and we felt welcome and comfortable asking for information or assistance. Check in with staff to know when they're around and they'll be happy to serve you! The staff also organized many fun activities for children and adults alike and our kids loved playing volleyball in the pool or at the beach, a movie night on the beach, ping pong, Mexican games, and the super fun foam party on Saturday night! The kids were well supervised during activities and this allowed us adults to have some time to ourselves while the kids were always safe and close by so we could check in on them. We had a great week overall and wish we could have stayed a bit longer; thanks to Tracy Weldon for helping us book our wonderful Mexican vacation at Sunscape Sabor; loads of fun, sun, adventure, and relaxation for the whole family to enjoy! If we ever return to Cozumel, we know where to go!

We just returned on February 1st from a week stay here and definitely would not return! There was mold growing behind our bed and in our bathroom and the tub felt like you were going to fall through it not to mention the air conditioner leaking water all over! We do not require fancy or modern but draw the line at black mold growing behind your bed and. Your bathroom!!! We asked about an upgrade thinking maybe some rooms had been renovated they took us to view another room which was exactly the same except ocean view and they want $300 US for this? Even talking to some of the staff they indicated it is the bottom of the barrel Sunscape resort as they then try and sell you a timeshare

Overall a very clean resort. Personally did not like the buffet food, and beaches were very rocky, but staff was great and still had a great time... FOOD & STAFF Staff was amazing, (Victor, Rusbel, Enrique & Maria) as well as front desk staff and ALL bartenders were a pleasure to chat with daily. Sunny Side & El Patio were the best restaurants. We did not try the Italian one since I eat italian food way too much, but overall, food was delicious and many options from the two listed above. Not a fan of the buffet for any meal, just found the options were minimal and picked over. ROOM: Stayed in 2031, 3rd floor - Room was cleaned and restocked with non-alcohol beverages daily. Only complaints - one mirror that was in the bathroom which would steam up when showering so bring an extra to do your makeup! Bed was a little on the firm side, so be prepared for some stiffness in the morning. Other than that. The AC worked WONDERS! Better than the one I have back home and the ceiling fan was super quiet. Tiny ant like bugs in the washroom on occasion but barely any. Doors are not insulated very well so you can easily hear conversations of the loud drunks walking by at 2am, but not horrible enough to pay for the upgrade to the “adult pool side” POOL & BEACH: Pools were fairly clean, but overall hard to keep super clean since we had a bit of rain when we went and it was windy. Cool temperatures kept me out of the pool but the activities seemed to bring everyone in to play. The beach was cleaned daily with lots of seating and hammock options, though the waters are ROCKY! Be prepared to walk very slowly or just sit on the edge like i did. Waters were like bath water. Staff would come take drink orders right from the beach too. NOTES: We went dec 17-24 in room 2031 - it is windy and cool at night! Bring a jacket since many restaurants sit outside and entertainment shows are all done by the pool at night (i was freezing!) - rainy days will also call for a jacket as temperatures cool - for a beach that you can actually swim at, rent a scooter (right outside the resort) for $40USD for 24h and go to a spot named “miami beach” (the next beach and bar past the well known rasta beach bar) - bring a mini speaker for the room or beach to listen to your own music, there’s no speaker included in the room - don’t pay for wifi, head to the lobby for free connection and do what you need to, paid wifi apparently had a bad connection said people we met there - this is a small resort so set days for excursions like playa del carmen or downtown cozumel - this is a resort for families (mainly younger kids) or couples, if you are single looking for a party spot, this is not the place Overall we had a great time and would recommend it for a relaxing and lay low trip, we loved everything we ate at Sunny Side and El Patio and LOVED seeing Victor & Rusbel from sunny side and Enrique, and Maria from el patio daily. Thank you Sunscape Staff for a great time in Cozumel :)

hotel was awesome...service was spectacular and food was delicious. The cycling along the ocean is amazing and very safe. The grounds are kept tidy and the entertainment provided on the resort was enjoyable. We were a group of 8 and everyone were impressed with the resort. We will be coming back again next year for the bike race and relaxation on the beach.

This is our second visit to the Sunscape Sabor Cozumel. A lovely resort with wonderful staff. There have been improvements to some of the restaurants which made our stay better. Very clean and nice grounds. Great entertainment.

This hotel had good and bad features. We were upgraded to an ocean view suite when we arrived which was fantastic! The views were beautiful. The beach was nice, you totally needed beach shoes to get in but you could see fish 10 feet from the shore. No need to go on a snorkeling adventure if you didn't want to. The staff was very friendly. The only issue we found was with the food. Breakfast buffet was great and we really just had lunch everyday at the Seaside grill for a hamburger and that was good. The dinners were not that great. I think they were trying to hard to be fancy at the expensive of portions and taste. The pizza restaurant was the best; good pizza, good pasta. Steak was bad and buffet next door was okay. Not a party hotel but really good for a restful vacation.

An older Resort, with lovely walkways, beautiful gardens, and extremely clean. Rooms are older, but spotless. Everything worked well in our room. We had a fridge stocked with beer, soft drinks, drinking boxes and bottled water. Bottles water was replenished everyday. The maid did a great job of cleaning the rooms. We were surprised how good the food was. Freshly squeezed orange juice at breakfast and excellent buffet breakfasts. They had an excellent variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. No reservations needed at the restaurants. We enjoyed all the restaurants especially the seafood grill. Our only disappointment was no espresso machine on the Resort. The coffee was fair. There was a main bar( which was on the beach and close to the pool). Another bar at the end of the beach which was close to our room. Excellent drinks made individually from the blender. White wine was different at each restaurant(I preferred the wine at the Market cafe.) No bracelets or towel cards needed at this resort which was a plus. No problem getting a lounge chair on the beach unless you wanted shade- best to choose one before breakfast. A lovely, long beach, water usually calm and clear however very rocky. Water shoes are a must. Snorkelling was great; beginners could snorkel in the shallow water. A very active beach, lots of snorkellers, kayaks, paddle boards, diving boats,etc. Entertainment was outside close to the pool- had a stage and some nights they had singers and dancers, and a band. Movies for kids. Very kid friendly Resort- a kid's club, soccer games- all the kids seemed to have a good time. Excellent on site diving was available with a special diving pool for scuba divers. We really enjoyed this resort except for the rocky beach. Staff were most helpful and friendly.

Had a blast at this resort second time around had some troubles with the room but they were quick to take care of the problems and discounted at checkout for our troubles food was great and staff were very friendly . Izzy was the best and funniest bartender ever all and all would love to go back a 3rd time some day

A very quaint resort . Everything is close by. Food is good and they offer different menus at the three restaurants. Hotel rooms very clean, but can use a bit of updating. However while we were there, we noticed that they were renovating certain rooms. Service and all the employees are excellent and very helpful. Always had clean towels and no problems finding chairs at the beach or pool. A very nice stay.

Have traveled to Cozumel 4 times and the last 3 have been at Sunscape Sabor . You will not find a staff that is any better than at this resort . They make you feel as if this is your home . They are so friendly and helpful . The accommodations are great and so is the choices on the food menu . I would recommend this resort to anyone and I will be returning there again next year .

We had a great vacation at Sunscape. The best thing was the snorkelling right off the beach. The room was average with a poor view (staircase). The bathroom was in need of new fixtures and water leaked all over the floor when using the shower. Maid service was good. They need more people during check in. We met many friendly people from Canada and the US.

We had a great week at the Sunscape Sabor Cozumel Resort Apr 9-16. Transfer from airport very smooth, checked in without a hitch and our room - although garden view (parking lot view mostly) was in a very convenient place to all amenities. The air conditioner was not the best but we don't spend much time in the room anyways. The resort itself was beautiful, all restaurants oceanside and the sunsets gorgeous. Food was great, drinks plentiful and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We will go back and recommend to our friends.

The property is very nice, very lush grounds. Nice swimming pools, lots of lounge chairs by the pool and beach. Our room was old but clean. The A/C was ok, not great. Our room was very humid and everything was always damp but that's what you get in 100% humidity. Dehumidifiers would be great. Restaurants were decent. Only had the outdoor BBQ once and wasn't impressed with my very undercooked burger. The beer was good but I found the blended drinks to be very artificial/chemical tasting...gross to be exact. Beer, pop, wine and water were good choices. We liked the Seaside Grill at night, the pizza place and the international buffet were all very good for dinner. Breakfast was decent and similar to other all-inclusives we've been to. The staff were very friendly. The area in front of the resort is great for snorkeling, paddle boarding and kayaking. I loved that we could do these activities with no extra charge. I would stay here again.

the hotel grounds were green and lush. The pathways were well marked and easy to find our way around. Our room was close to the beach. There were always lots of beach chairs and towels. The rooms were in need of redecorating but ours was always very clean. The bathroom need some redecorating but it was always kept clean. There was always plenty of water in our room. We dined at the Market Cafe for most breakfasts and lunches. Food was always very good and well marked. The staff at the hotel were always very friendly and helpful. We dined at the 2 a la cartes. The food was very good and lots to choose from. We were a big group and they were always very accommadating for dinner seating. The entertainment was good with a variety for all.

Sunscape Sabor Cozumel is a lovely resort because of the people working there. The grounds are beautiful, the beach clean with lots of palapas for shade, the restaurants are great with delicious food that is well-presented, the wait staff is friendly and most accommodating. The Market Cafe is the best place for breakfast. It is situated at the edge of the beach with indoor and outdoor seating, beautiful view of the water, and the hostesses Wendy and Marisol will greet you with big smiles. Christian, Moises and Gilberto will cater to your every wish and Roxanna will be sure to come around to ensure your comfort. There is no need to make reservations at the a la carte restaurants - just arrive and the staff will seat you as quickly as possible. We were fortunate to have some special waiters - Frank and Roger among others. Be sure to try the Mayan coffee in the El Patio restaurant. The resort is not new and some wear and tear is evident but every problem is addressed immediately.

This is a smaller resort so everything is handy, well laid out. The activities were enjoyable and the staff encouraged guest to join in a pleasant manner. Children would enjoy the different activities. The resort was clean and you could see workers cleaning throughout the day. There even was an older fellow wiping the small tables at the beach, picking up glasses, and wiping chairs throughout the day. The meals were tasty and plentiful. The entertainment was typical but the length was good ( enjoyable but not over kill) If you want to have an outside balcony you should request one as some ground floor rooms were on walkway's. A lobby bar that is open all day and pleasant in appearance would have been nice.

our stay was great overall. When we arrived we didn't have a king size bed which we requested. It took 2 nights to get one. We were a little bit upset a first, but we got a room we were right on the beach, maybe 100 ft from the ocean. Rooms were clean (micro ants. 1.5 mm long, but who can keep them out). Food was great for the most part. Patio restaurant was the best. Dont expect a great variety, the menus don't change (This maybe something to work on) so if you are there more than a week you will get bored with the food. The part of the beach thats not in the water was ok. The part thats in the water was rocky. Its cozumel what can you expect. May not be the best for kids but if you snorkel its great. The staff was always friendly. Overall we had a great time. Not a five star but it wasn't advertised as one. Great value for your money.

The best part of this resort was Maximilliano at the Seaside Grill. His service and personality are absolutely top notch!! Aside from his excellence the rooms are not as advertised. The room service was less than satisfactory. Towels were forgotten on several occasion. Bar fridge was not stocked unless complaints to front desk. This is not what I paid for.

Stayed March 2014. Smaller resort, Service was good, room ok, housekeeping good, food ok, activities minimal, bartenders at pool bar slow if not tipping. In all very happy for price paid.Took jeep tour, was worthwhile.
