My experience at the National Hotel Havana was deeply disappointing. The room was dusty, and the floor had not been properly cleaned. There was no hot water, which made basic comfort impossible. I found a cockroach in the bathroom, which is unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one with this reputation. The issues continued at breakfast: The buffet was of poor quality, with limited fresh options. I even found a fly in my coffee, raising serious concerns about hygiene. Because of these conditions, I left the hotel after the first night and stayed at a relative’s house instead. Unfortunately, the hotel did not meet even the most basic standards of cleanliness or comfort.

It is a very enjoyable place to stay . The pool is was very refreshing and well maintained . The food was good. We enjoyed the Coffee , but it could be served warmer. And the water in the room was not hot and discoloured , perhaps, it was due to the hurricane. The chairs were broken and need to be replaced . The staff was helpful and friendly

Very good location, large and comfortable room and beds, nice pool , very amazing night show, very good breakfast, safe place . Only problem with room was no cofee maker or tea maker, large room and bath, relatively nice staff I recommend this hotel to others, it was already a famous casino and at present it is choice for diplomates

As soon as you walked into the room, you experienced a immediate stench in the room because there's no air circulating. The bathroom was dirty and old. Very dark depressing room. I was given a single twin bed, not even a double when I requested a king bed. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone especially with the price I paid and for what I received. Breakfast was included but incredibly basic. Bread, fruits, pastries, cheese & omlette/fried egg grill. No bacon. The hotel is going through renovation which meant the swimming pools weren't available and the back was a construction site.

The hotel itself has amazing history and a beautiful view of the ocean. Lots of restaurants and things to do. The interior and exterior of the hotel is gorgeous and a rare find. The pool was nice but the chlorine levels must have not been correct as the both of us got an eye infection immediately after we used the pool.

I went on a tour of this historic hotel and it did not disappoint. It had beautiful furnishings and fixtures. The all you can eat buffet breakfast is amazing and indeed filling. Most days it was not necessary for me to even consider eating lunch. The pool setting is nice and relaxing although shaded areas are at a premium so best to try and get a seat there early if you are not there for the sun. The staff are very friendly and helpful when you need direction or information. If I had one criticism it is with the guest rooms. They are quite dated and could definitely use an upgrade. Particularly in the bathroom.

The National was fine ... this is Cuba remember..and it is very hit and miss, the place is well located, but it a bit needs new beds and furniture... the pool was great. The terrace was perfect for drinks over looking the ocean...

My recent stay at this hotel brings me back to the once glamor era of the history of this building. The historical tour gave me a background of the site and the history of the hotel helps understand Cuba and its relation with USA. The location of the hotel is great. I can walk everywhere and the view of the sea from the garden backdrop is beautiful. The rooms like most hotel in Cuba, dated. Everything is old , water pressure is low and there is a musty smell after a few days of staying there. Found used shampoo bottle left beside the sink and cigarette butt in the toilet bowl sealed saying it is sanitized when we checked in to our room. Brought to the reception attention and no reaction or what so ever. Staff are not well informed of the facilities such as towels are available by the poolside and they told me to bring one from my room. Breakfast was great. Has a great variety but no spoons for your coffee or tea unless you ask for it. Met some lovely staff and that makes our stay comfortable.
