The resort itself is very tired and could you a complete over haul. The beach is not great and can be quite difficult to get to, very few lounge chairs and very little shade areas. The pools are small so you have to get up very early to get a lounge chair and pray someone doesn't remove your towel. The shows were pretty good at night, but during the day was only water aerobics. Food was good, pizza was very good. The staff are absolutely amazing and go way above and beyond to help make your vacation wonderful. I would go back to Mexico but not this resort.

We had an amazing 8 days at Dos Playas! The view was spectacular, the staff were amazing. Most of the staff have been there for years, and were always smiling and laughing with each other and guests! The food was always great with something different every day. The entertainment was fabulous, and the beach was awesome. We had an oceanfront room, that was clean and the bed was very comfortable! If we go back to Cancun we will definitely return to Dos Playas!

Unostentatious, very well-run small hotel with a human dimension in quaint and charming surroundings. The reception staff members are outstanding in their desire to make your stay comfortable. Motivated, helpful and well- meaning employees who like their job. A special thank you to Cesar Viberes for his mastery of cocktails! Cool, clean rooms, with comfortable beds, amenities functioning as they should. Particularly nice and tasty variety of foods, vegetables and meats to satisfy even celiacs (GF). We are world travellers and rate Dos Playas Faranda as 10/10 for value. Highly recommended.

Staff were the best thing about the hotel. Our safe broke 5 times. I got sick. Puking my guts out. Luckily I had anti biotics in my bag. I had a fever so it was food poisoning. No gloves for food handling every where. It was a 2 star at best. I could go on but do not go here. Really do not go here.

We were in room 1604, second closest room to the main road. Surprisingly, the road noise was minimal. However the fellow with the megaphone trying to sell excursions started at about 7 am, thankfully only intermittingly. Our room was a little dated, but functional. Wifi was spotty. The shower only had hot water, no way were we able to budge the cold water tap. It was fine, it did not get uncomfortably hot. The girl that cleaned our room was super nice and helpful and did a great job. The majority of the staff at the bars, servers etc. were very good. The food was great on certain days, especially the Mexican Fiesta night. Other times I was filling up on salads which is not normal for me. I do not like onions and can be a picky eater, so my view of the food might not be accurate for others. At times there was a fair bit of waiting to eat. The grounds were fantastic and the Iguanas added to the authentic Mexican vibe. The ocean and beeches are very good, the waves never got too rough which they tend to do on other areas of the hotel zone. The pools were very nice and they have activities to get you up and moving.

Overall my experience was not great. A few good points though.. Food was fantastic. Although not huge rows of options as in larger resorts, everything they offered was delicious. A lot of typical Mexican food in the buffet. They had pizza and sushi snack bar open until 6pm. And another restaurant open different schedules. And then sushi again open for dinner. Very tasty and overall fast service with that most days. Drinks were great at all the bars. They have much better options and flavours vs what you find in Cuba. Beach- Water was swimmable. Some days calm with light waves and blue green colour. Boats come in and causing waves so other days created more waves. Always has been swimmable. Seaweed not a huge problem. Little can be found and was cleaned daily. One day seaweed was noticeable and more in the water by shore so was annoying to swim in but was due to heavier waves from boats. Sand was pleasant and white on the beach just not much beach area. Entertainment- not much going on in the day. They have small team that do little couple zumba dances around the pool or some demonstrations for cooking. Nothing very interesting or entertaining. Would be good if they danced with people in evening as some other resorts do to keep people entertained. No games going on. For families- nothing really for kids. They have 3 pools. All quite cold as surrounded by buildings and shade. So not enough sun and water in pool was usually cold. ( We were there in January 2026). Main pool often dirty with floating leaves and things. Chairs around pool, it's never enough chairs. About 12 chairs and people reserve with a towel and aren't there most of the time. Layout is strange. If you show up with a stroller or wheelchair, not going to be able to use it much. Lots of stairs, lots of bumpy pavement. This is not a resort that is great for people with mobility. They have a paved slope for getting around to a few of the buildings. But you will not be able to get into the main buffet as stairs to get in. You also would not be able to get to the beach at all as plenty of stairs with many holes and cracks and uneven boards. Room- Our first room was disappointing # 1003. Faucet is built to spray water all over counter even when on very low. Shower pressure not great. Soap and shampoo provided. Never enough towels. Always something in the room not functioning well. NOT ALL ROOMS have balconies or terrace. This room 1003 has a window only and felt like a prison cell. The worst part was that my room we discovered had BED BUGS. I will be writing to Tripcentral privately to address the situation to Air Canada Vacations with photos of the little critters I caught and the bites they left on us. Took 3 attempts with the hotel to get room changed. The first time they came in with their own Mexican version of OFF spray and did a little spray in our room. The second time we approached front desk about this they advised they will fumigate while we are out for the day... we continued getting bitten until I believe was 5th night. Woke up to see a bed bug crawling on my son. After picking it up and killing it, we stayed up practically the whole night and found 4 more and killed them too and brought to reception. With this proof they managed to offer change of room for next day. Better room in same category #1403. Much bigger room still on ground level with a terrace. Only downfall is one bed bug traveled with us and showed up later that evening in new room. Location is good. With stops for dropping off/picking up people was about 40 minutes from CUN airport. 15 min bus ride to central square. Overall this is a place to recommend to people that are ok with just the bare minimum. Don't care to get much tan or prefer doing excursions. Like good food and drinks. Don't care for much entertainment. Don't mind possibly sleeping with bed bugs. Not recommended for kids, not recommended to people with mobility issues. The hotel also wanted to charge us for a broken lamp shade that was not our doing. Check out was unpleasant and seems like they are trying to milk money off tourists here and there for things that people did not break.

The hotel is a dump. Unsafe in my honest opinion. Pools are gross. Clientele in the only restaurant is buffet and we saw a person use their hands to pull out food, luck her fingers, then grab some more. Everything was gross, really gross. I tried to get tripcentral to change the hotel prior to leaving after we saw a YouTube video. Tripcentral employee said cannot change hotel, so we chanced it. Upon arrival, we immediately wanted to leave. The air canada guide on site said he would try to make a change for us. He came back with price quotes more than DOUBLE what we paid for the original trip to only change hotels. Total cost if we moved would have been over $6,000 for 2 peeps. That’s a gouge! So we stayed. Air Canada vacations ruined our vacation. Will NOT use them in the future ever.

Rooms were old and outdated, website said mini bar. All that was in it was 2 Bottles of water. That’s it. Was upset as we went as a group of 4 people with 2 rooms. Asked to be side by side. We weren’t even on the same floor. They would not help us out on that. The food was it and miss. Desserts We’re good. Beach was beautiful. The staff for the most part were pleasant.

The staff was amazing. Rooms clean and comfortable. Very nice pool. Loved the pizza snack bar and the Mexican restaurant does an amazing breakfast. The resort is just the right size for anyone that has mobility issues. I would go back

Overall you get what you pay for. For the price I would say it matched the resort. Had a few pools but they are not heated. Pools are clean though. Little lacking in lawn chairs but they do maintenance on the ones they do have which is good. They were cleaning the sarcasm off the beach daily. Buffet was geared towards Mexican but could always find enough to eat. Breakfast was decent with an omlette bar and fresh made waffle bar. Rooms were ok. King size bed was comfortable and they brought so many extra pillows. Wifi is over most of the resort. A little spotty or non existent by the beach bar. Could use another wireless access point there.

When we first got to this hotel I was very surprised at the size ! It was small villas which we found more cozier. Rooms are cleaned everyday, towels changed ! I love where the safe is situated , easy for me to reach ! There is the main buffet dining room , there is an a La carte Mexican restaurant , pizza place and Japanese. The food isn’t bad in main dining room, lots of varieties. suggestion for the japanese restaurant to have ramen noodles on menu and also sake to drink ! 2 days in a roll , they didn’t have gyoza

Location is great, beach is pretty good. Rooms are OK - very clean. Staff is mostly super friendly, especially cleaners. Special thanks to the chef from Sushi restaurant - cool guy, the lady from reception is also so nice! Food: depends on a day. Some days they had pretty decent food, especially fruits and vegetables. Some days food was not fresh. Recommend to take some plates with you (I did luckily lol) as their plates are reusable and are not cleaned very well. Meat is mostly not edible :-(. Great thing is that they have unlimited pizza from noon to 6 pm which is quite delicious (though pizza folks are not super friendly, but that’s OK - they make great food)!!! And they have sushi too (though not super fresh).

We were apprehensive but after arriving we were pleasantly suprised with this resort. Small and packed with amazing entertainment, five restaurants that were all good (sushi bar, pizza bar, a la carte, buffet and the hamburger, hot dog bar) open hours coincide with most tours. I don’t drink so can’t speak of the bars but there was three of them. beach was great. you won’t be disappointed.

Had a wonderful time at dos Playas Faranda. Weather was warm, people friendly, food varied and tasty, activities from 10-9 everyday. Close to the city, and just great all way round. Will book here again

The rooms were clean, the air conditioning worked well, bed was comfortable and there was always hot water with great pressure. The resort is older and could use some maintenance (holes and uneven in some of the walkways). Food was good, although a little more variety would have been nice. However, you could get hamburgers, hotdogs, pizza and sushi during the day. Nightly entertainment. Beautiful, swimmable beach. Two things we would like to have seen is more chairs on the beach, however we always got one and a place to go at night that was covered. The buffet restaurant closes at 10:30pm and there is no where covered to go after that. It rained one night so people just went to their rooms.

What do you think about your stay? The facilities and the services were excellent. The beach had sea weed but the general view was great. The big pool was under construction so we made do with the smaller pools. If you love Mexican Food and drinks then it was fantastic.

Let me first start by saying if your uncomfortable speaking spanish or trying to speak spanish then this might not be the place for you. We have very limited spanish and most of the staff doesnt have very good english but we always made it work and got what we needed or wanted with a little extra work. They had mexican night (all in spanish) but it didnt matter we had such a blast watching the dancers and the comedian. Everyone had a really great night. The food signage is in spanish but we knew the basics enough for a good idea of what we were eating... and it was really good! I have been to all inclusives before and the food is generally boring and blah to accomodate a multitude of palates... but this was flavorful! The selection was small but there was always something good to eat! The crepe cart was dessert for the evening nightly. The beach was really nice and not a lot of people on it. Rooms were clean. It was a 3star but a solid we would 100 percent go back to 3 star. Next time my husband and I will learn more spanish though so we can communicate with everyone better.

The resort is nothing fancy but the food is good, the rooms are clean and air-conditioned, and the pool area and the beach is tidy. The staff are nice and helpful, but it's best to come prepared with some basic Spanish. And don't forget to tip! The location is a short bus ride away from the hot spots of the Hotel Zone and downtown. There is also a tour sales agent hanging out in the lobby and the Isla Mujeres ferry terminal is next door. So if you're looking to add more variety to your experience, you have a lot of options. Overall, a good budget getaway and I had a positive experience staying there.

Staff is chill. But the hotel rooms are small. Our room had many problems like broken A/C, leaking toilet, no hot water and no shower door. The beaches weren't good either and there's no 24hour service

A few positives... the food is good, the ocean is beautiful, and it's a pretty good location. The negatives the beds are extremely uncomfortable, the bars close at 12 and unless you are willing to throw a few pesos for every drink and meal the service is subpar. Pools were freezing, we didn't see anyone in them all week and the walking paths are not in the best condition. All in all it's what you would expect in a 3 star..you get what you pay for.

The hotel rooms were spotless and the food was excellent. I have not visited Mexico before and was most impressed with the people not only at the resort but outside. The whole population seems t make a living from tourins but I was never hassled. The total package was extremely economical but if you want to go outside the resort then be prepared to pay American prices. Altogether you can't beat the value. The entertainment was also very good.

The room was clean , outdated , small and a queen bed for two. The local people have all the vip oceanfront rooms. Food was good but repetitive and they all waiting for tips .... pretty intimidating... the guy who prepares the ags on spot was never there in a week ... only for those who tip or for local people was there. I didn t expected this demande on tips in mexico ... once you tip they give you better service and then next day they expecting more than you give them today ... Beside that is not a bad location, the beach is small but ok . The advantage is that there were no waves compared to the hotels located on the front of cancun strip. The beach is facing the island Mujeres which kind of blocks the big waivs comming from the shore in this period of the year . Overall satisfied but for sure a better deal in dominican for better stars and cheaper...

The hotel's personnel is very professional and friendly. Very clean rooms and all waitress always were ready to serve us , Ms.Brenda always very nice and her big smiling on her face welcome us to buffet room. The food excellent, fresh fruits, veggy and fish, meat tasted deliciously. The cook shall get the biggest award price and top salary for what he did on regular days in kitchen, as well as made delicious of Thai food. The manager of resort was very nice and always ready to give help. The entertainment was very nice and the group of local dancers impressed us very much, the African's acrobatic dancers did the amazing show which i can compare to the best show of acrobats in Las Vegas. We would like to say thank you for wonderful time and we plan to come again at the end of this year 2018

Ground was super clean and beautiful. Room was spacious with a balcony view of the lagoon and a window view of the ocean. The food was continuously cold and everybody had their little glass for tips which was very intimidating leaving the impression that if you don’t tip you get bad service and in some case was true

We had to cancel our trip. Due to a medical emergency . I hope that the place will be good for people that will spend their vacation there. Trip central staff have been helpful in order to help us cancel our vacation. Next vacation I will book with them again.

Two great beaches (hence the name Dos Plays), clean, warm water, no undertow, several nice clean pools, great friendly staff, pizza and burger options all day, cold drinks, rooms clean and more than ok, hotel close enough to the party zone (~30 min walk) but far enough away that there's no noise or stupidity or traffic, lots of locals and families enjoying themselves at the adjacent public beach (Playa Tortuga). Great value.

Once again I am writing about DOS Playas in Cancun 🌴. I am impressed with the new management for the dining room.more personable people.the hotel staff is very friendly and the place is always clean.its in what I think it's the perfect area.the beach is lovely.

We had an amazing time at this resort, the staff were awesome fun and friendly the atmosphere was great the room was clean and perfect for us the resort was very well groomed and clean the only place we seen that could be improved is in the food department it would be really nice if they had some guacamole and chips and real orange juice and real coffee not the powdered machine stuff we bought some BBQ sauce to offset the blandness of the food but all in all we really enjoyed ourselves there

If the weather had been better, I wouldn't have noticed as many minor things. It was very clean, some staff were friendly and provided good service. It's a small place so had it been warmer, there would have been much more competition for the few chairs at the beach and pools, but I had no trouble on the cloudy and windy days. They don't have food warmers so the buffet food was not kept hot and variety was limited, but adequate. No guacamole was a disappointment considering the region. Francisco works hard making omelettes at a pretty fast turnaround. Javier at the beach restaurant was friendly and provided great service. Go there at lunch for a la carte orders because it comes to you nice and hot. Great tacos there. Esteban and Jacquelina on the animacion team were both wonderful. She was super friendly and a great karaoke host. Esteban is a fantastic dancer and wonderful with people. Weather prevented me trying the spa services as they are in an outdoor tent. Room was basic, but adequate and kept clean. On the last day however, after I checked out I was questioned about a broken night table lamp shade. It had been like that when I checked in, but I was being accused of breaking it. Somehow the cleaning lady only noticed it on my last day. But there was no glass, so it substantiated my reasoning. I did not appreciate being accused. I have heard of this happening in other reviews. This was my turn I guess - so folks, take pics of your room right when you arrive to note any damage up front. They dropped it based on my reaction. It had been written in pencil on my check out card. I imagine if I had paid some kind of charge, that money would disappear and the note erased. Anyway, it was sorted. I recommend this place if you just want beach, sun, and cheap and cheerful accommodations/meals. If you are used to more, you won't be happy. One other thing, seems in the main restaurant, at lunch and dinner when I dined alone, no one ever came over to offer me a drink. Only if I dined with friends. Every other table around me every day was served drinks, several throughout their meal. Not sure why they shun single diners, but it was noticeable. I think it was a world apart from the 4 star I stayed at a few years ago though, so I think calling it a 3 star was generous. I would say 2.75 max., but again, it was adequate.

The location is great close to everything and room was clean always had night performances and had awesome food buffet. The staffs were very friendly and attentive. My husband and I had an awesome stay here.

As usual Andreas and the front desk crew are awesome and every one here makes me feel at home and welcome.Upgrades to the property are ongoing and everything is looking good... Can't wait to go back in May

In general the hotel was okay I mean to be a three star hotel was pretty good but there are some aspects I didn't like, like the pool floor was peeling and because of it I cut my toe. From 1 to 10 I would say it's a 7. Although I highly recommend the place beside in the beach is a snorkel place and it's amazing .

This resort is great value for the price. In no way was my room luxurious, but I wasn't looking for luxury. It was a comfortable stay away from home. The grounds of the resort is absolutely beautiful and the beach is fantastic.

We stayed at Dos Playas back in 2008, it was ok, but last week on our second visit, it was terrible. We booked again 7 days all-inclusive, me my wife and daughter: Arrived last Monday-only 2 towels in the room, 2 bottles of water, we phoned reception - we still waiting for them till this day. Tuesday-they never cleaned our room so again no towels, no toilet paper and a blocked toilet, Wednesday-no towels no water, no toilet paper, the toilet was blocked again. Thursday-we left for Xcaret at 7am, came back around 11:30pm, exhausted, we were locked out of our room, they changed the locks on the room doors in the hotel, what a joke, they replace locks that are still good, but there is no face cloths in the hotel, you need to wait for towels out of the tumble dryers because there is a shortage, they remove our 2 chairs on the balcony and stole one of our personal beach towels, after speaking to one of the guest service ladies of the hotel the towel make its appearance the Saturday. The Sprite cool drink at the beach pool was not working the entire 7 days. The food has no taste, every day the same food, every day the same desert, terrible terrible terrible, no service from the waiters, no napkins and cutlery on the outside tables, my wife asked the waiter for forks and knifes, he told her go get herself on one of the other tables inside. There were no Whisky or Brandy in the hotel, only Vodka and Beer. The entertainment is much better than our last visit, nice shows every night especially the aqua show in the swimming pool. Last year we went twice to Flamingo, first time also was ok, that is why we went back, but the second time the same thing happened. Also, we always go around February, this year we went in April, never again, the hotels, excursions are all in Spanish, and even the tour guides spoke only in Spanish.

This hotel is a gem if you are prepared for the non-standard package. You will not get an amazing room in an amazing resort, it could be noisy by the road, tourists there are mostly Mexican so little English spoken, and everything is basic. But it is reasonably clean, the food is better than you get on any small island, and if you do not need big entertainment every night, but a clean beach and plenty of chairs under the palm trees on the grass, then this is perfect.

nice simple and clean rooms. public washrooms always clean, updated, great five pools on site, staff very friendly, easy access to the hotel zones, great location excellent beach view from both sides, food was good too.

I holiday here every year. my kind of place ,not pretentious ,very friendly staff, lovely grounds. the rooms are clean. and best of all, no elevaters.. meet up with people from the previous year.. there are a few that also come every year.. . and also its a small place so everyone gets to know each other. people from all over the world come here.. last year was russians, this year it was columbians and argentinians..everyone sits around after dinner and has a few libations and talks. wonderful!
