Verified PurchaserOutstanding Staff and Service
This resort is small in comparison to most, and if you are looking for fancy lobbies and thick plush pool towels then you might want to go elsewhere. But this resort has a heart of gold and it’s the staff, and by the end of our stay we felt like family and will definitely be going back. Food was great and the staff will go above and beyond to make your stay amazing.

It was very clean, the staff, amazing, food was basically the same, however, it was local which was nice. The hotel is, 60's era. One day of hot water in room but the jacuzzi was very hot, pool and grounds where well kept. Is very central to sight seeing. Very relaxing and quite. I would go again.

Verified PurchaserGood week here
the place is older.. that did not bother me. was there room for improvement well i saw efforts being made and that was good enough for me. it was very clean and very adequate and i was not bothered by the other issues. the main one was the water, but no problem mon, i figured out how to work it. im easy, others not, i get that. my room, up the stairs from the lobby in one of the honeymoon rooms, was comfortable, had a great view, nice big bathroom. very nice jamaican food hit the spot. my needs were simple, and were met. no luxuries here, as others have said, do not expect fancy. saw both good and bad reviews and wanted to see the place for myself, was curious about this one and having found a fab last minute deal with sunwing, glad i gave it a try. didnt want tours, activities or excitement.. what i wanted was a nice week to relax and that certainly was achieved. being mid-july there were not too many other guests here during my week. what else can i say. enjoyed this beautiful quiet spot on the north coast. bus to the airport for my return home was alittle late to arrive, but we managed just fine. my bug spray was liberated from me at the airport.. that was a first. thank you andrea, and from the front desk, to the bar, and kitchen, and dining room and everyone else, great staff, thank you all.

Verified PurchaserWonderful staff and atmosphere
This hotel is outdated, when you first get there and you see it you think oh my what have I gotten myself into. You enter and the warm welcoming atmosphere and the staff make this a great place. There are some flaws with the food but the staff definitely make it worth while. We would definitely go back there, and will next year!
The staff was amazing at Club Ambiance. The food was good, but a little more variety as there was chicken every day. The bar did run out of some of it's most popular liquors. The resort needed a lot of repairs and upgrades. Lights were broken or completely missing. There was no water sport as the kayaks had holes, the peddle boat had a broken seat and peddles. Not many activities but the staff did try with the few people that was there. The pool bar was not stocked, it just a place to store pool floaties. The ocean gazebo bar was deteriorated and not really safe to hang out. The rooms were very clean, but the satellite TV only had 5 channels, when taking a shower the hot water was hit or miss and sometimes we lost water pressure so there was no water at all. The owner needs to invest in this resort and maybe more visitors outside of Jamaica would go.

The people at the resort are great. Everything is dated and not kept up. Simple things like fixing broken outdoor lighting doesn't get done, The huts could be re thatched easy as the material is there. The rooms had a trickle of hot water, thus hard to shower or shave. The food was good, as long as you like chicken, fish and goat. The only open bar kept running out of beer and mix. We only had one night of live music for 3 hours. I liked Jamaica, but wouldn't go back to Club Ambiance.
The resort itself was definitely a 3 star but the staff were more than helpful and went above and beyond during my stay to make me comfortable!! The pool staff entertainment people and the food and beverage staff were all amazing and housekeeping was the best they decorated my room for my birthday!! The resort was very quiet and relaxing and we had s great time !! Would definitely return !!!

Verified PurchaserHuge Disappointment
This is not a 3 Star hotel!!
We were dropped off at entrance which was on the road BC it's so small that a bus can't drive in there. This place is right beside a very busy highway and the semi truck use their engine brakes throughout the night while passing by.
Cement on the entrance is all broken up and we had to push our suitcases on it to get to the front desk.
You have to use stairs to get to your room. Everything looks super old and out dated. Towels in the room were stained and they had the thinnest old small towels at the beach. Oh right, which beach?? Tiny little man made beaches. Water In their man made lagoons was up to you knee and very rocky.
No service at the beach for drink refills. Only 27 people there and by the time we had left after a week then was maybe 5 people left there.
Staff does their very best with the limited resources they have. There is only 1 restaurant which is only buffet for each meal. They have burger & fries in the afternoon. The food was simple and good.
No bottled water anywhere.
There was very little Entertainment every night.
We would say this place was way over priced!
Had a great week. The staff is very friendly and it is like you are with family in some ways as we have come to this location for a few years now. We were there in the off season so it was not to busy which is okay with the wife and I as it is very quiet and the staff has more time for each individual.

Verified PurchaserDiamond in the Rough Resort
Club Ambiance is a great small adult resort to relax and escape from the stress of the real world. Most of the staff try very hard to please guests. The rooms are clean and large and there is good customer service for the most part. The resort needs a make over or refreshment in areas like paving parking lots and entryways. Painting throughout entry ways to room and needs a refresh too. The Nude, Clothing Optional, and Prude are cute but man made and not large or real beaches. The grounds are beautiful. The buffet food is average and repetitive but safe. No food poisoning here. Selection was repetitive and minimal daily. Dinner was at 7pm..but the set up of the buffet was never ready on time...Expect Jamaican time. Otherwise there is not much to see directly outside the resort. Excursion trips are fun and worth doing. Jamaica is natural and beautiful. Most of the staff try really hard to make guests happy and are very pleasant. If you need reliable Wi-Fi this is not the resort to go to for that. I would return to this beautiful resort if it had a few upgrades to make it a diamond. For a three start resort you certainly get your moneys worth.
More of a straight folks resort. Gay friendly perhaps but no gay couples or single guests evident which for me was a negative.

Verified PurchaserBudget Vacation -- Keep in mind this is a 3 star
The brochure is very misleading.... no a-la-carte, 1 bar (others have been close for years), food OK but every meal has only Chicken and fish often no cutlery, or plates..... need to wait up to 10 minutes or more.
Bar runs out of stuff often...... including Jamaican Rum.
Beach OK, but small. Has Nude section, Optional Section and Prude Section.
Forget about WiFi..... need to actually stand at the reception desk to access it and speed is almost dialup quality!!
If you keep you expectations in check (3 star) this place is OK.

Verified PurchaserA relaxing time can be found here.....
Nice place in the middle of Runaway bay, it's not the big 5 star hotel, but you do get what you pay for. The hotel staff are extremely pleasant and will do just about anything to make your stay enjoyable. I was by myself and spent many hours simply laying around or finding myself a spot to be "alone" with my thoughts and the staff (including security) often came up and asked, if I was OK and if I needed anything. with a smile I simply answered "Going great" and they went away.
The hotel is very clean, I had a Honeymoon suite (room H08) to myself, great Ocean View, very quiet, nice deck, simply one of the best rooms in the resort.
The beach is in 3 sections, the Prude, the Clothing Optional and the Nude section, all 3 beaches are separated by a simple sidewalk to and ocean lookout. The biggest beach (yet still not big) is the clothing optional beach, this is where beach sport activities took place. The biggest problem with all 3 beaches is that they are protected by the ocean by a manmade seawall and the water is a little stagnant, an exit through the seawall does exist but the ocean on the other side is not appropriate for easy swimming. So if you want to spend time playing in the waves, body surfing, long walks in the sand then this is not the place for you.
The food is not bad, you have to be patient in the AM to get your eggs for breakfast as only a 2 burner stove is used to make omelettes, eggs and the sort. The buffet style is pretty small but offers enough to make you full. Every day some type of Chicken was available and also some type of fish, also included where pastas, veggies, soups, salads, fruits, and yummy deserts. After 7 days I was pretty tired of the same stuff being repeated!! No "a la Carte" is offered, the afternoon snack bar is hamburgers, sausages, sandwiches and very very very slow service. Each night at 11:00pm the hotel took out a "snack" that was usually very tasty, but by 11:20 it was usually all gone.
Fantasia disco is like going back to the 70's, but, if you want to dance and enjoy others then it is what it is. You can even use the Pole to show off you pole dancing skills. It opens at 10:30 and heck, I do not know what time it closed.
Area, well Jamaica is Jamaica and like all other countries you should use common sense. I took several long walks in the city in the daytime and had no problems at all, sure the offer for Ganga is here and there, but nobody bugs you about it and lets you be. a small public beach was found about 20 minute walk to the left of the resort, not bad, but again, not great (make it what you want).
