Excellent vacation at Sandals Ochi
Went with a group of 8 for a week in July and joined by friends who stayed one night. From the moment we arrived at the airport till the morning we left we were treated with superb customer service from Sandals staff. Large resort with lots of options for food and we were treated very well at every restaurant. The food was delicious and well prepared. Our rooms were clean and well supplied with adequate toiletries and towels. We didn't have to ask for anything for our rooms which were located in the Great House and in the villas on the Hillside. Staff are always asking if we needed anything and would go out of their way to meet our needs. We spent most of our days at the beach soaking in the sea. Some spots are a bit rocky but we didn't need water shoes as we avoided those areas. We were able to get beds in the shade every day on the beach. We recommend this resort if you are looking to be pampered and want some time away for fun and relaxation. There is something for everyone at this resort.

Almost perfect
The resort was beautiful, the beach areas were well maintained, the food was fantastic, Howard at the Piano Bar makes the best drinks. The housekeeping on the other hand, not great. We arrived on Thursday and our room was not touched until Sunday night, we left Monday. Once our water in the mini fridge was replenished without asking. I had to repeatedly ask for clean towels, our garbage/dishes were not cleared away until the Sunday night. Our bed was not made until the Sunday night. Disappointing considering you go on vacation to not have to worry about these things.

Good resort, Good staff, needs upgrading
This resort has some really bright spots and some things that really need improvement. I’ll start with the bad…. The rooms….. if you’re expecting a stunning room then you are going to be disappointed. The room we stayed in was very basic and kind of reminded us of a run of the mill 3 star hotel. The TV had cracks in it, the water pressure in the shower was awful, furniture was chipped and paint was peeling off the walls. The pool….. the pool was big and the water was a nice temperature but it is in serious need of some TLC. There were pieces of tile missing on the pool wall, paint was peeling on the big sandals tower and there were tons of bugs in the pool. We even noticed a cockroach dead on the pool deck. The beach….. the beach is beautiful but there is no shade at all. No umbrellas, no trees to sit under. The beach is also quite small. Now we move onto the good….. The food…. The food was pretty decent, definitely a step above some of the all inclusives we’ve been to. Our favourites were Kelly’s dockside, the jerk shack and the pizza places. The staff…. The staff for the most part were super friendly. They always made sure that we had everything we needed. They also put a lot of effort into getting people involved in playing games by the pool and having a good time. The entertainment……. The entertainment was good…. Nothing spectacular but definitely not something to complain about either. The silent party on the beach was super fun and so was the couples game show. The drinks….. the drinks were very good. Being able to get premium alcohol was a huge plus for us. The bartenders were extremely friendly and always made sure we had a cold drink. Some bartenders also got a bit creative when we felt like trying something new and we loved that. The bartenders at the pool bar and the beach bar were standouts for us. The rabbit hole….. We went here almost every night. They had really cool drinks that you can’t get anywhere else on the resort and the decor inside is a nice touch. From about 10pm to 11pm it’s a pretty nice vibe as they have a live DJ but the place empties out pretty quick once he leaves. Overall this hotel has a lot of good and a lot of bad. I think that if you go into a trip here knowing that everything isn’t going to be perfect then you’re going to have a good time.

Amazing staff
This hotel needs the guest rooms to be updated as they are very worn.Bathroom mirrors so worn you thought they had a chronic bathroom fog on them. Lobby and restaurants were very current. Food was average at best at most restaurants. My favourite was the Sushi and Italian. Pools needed some tiles work . A no tip policy was strictly enforced but a totally different story when you arrive at the Sandals airport lounge. There the Sandals representative who escorts you to your bus to the resort reminds you strongly to tip both the luggage attendant and the driver. Wow, that was not expected ! I told the representative that I will choose who I will tip and when and I didnt appreciate hearing this from him! I really think this hotel should shut down , refurbish guest rooms and pool tiles, storm damages Then re-open with a splash!! Lovely, attentive staff .

Disappointing
This resort did not live up to the image I had of a Sandals resort. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. But the food was lackluster. The dishes rarely lived up to the menu descriptions. And there was such inconsistency. One day a dish would be somewhat palatable and the next poorly prepared. At times service was non-existent. At one pool, no staff circulated to take drink orders and when I asked a pool person, he responded that I should walk over and down the stairs to another pool to get a drink a 5-10 minute walk. The next day I asked him again if someone would be coming; he responded that I told you yesterday you have to get it yourself. Some of the staff were friendly and helpful but some were downright surly. Upon arrival, we were shown a room that bore no resemblance to the room that was booked. We were then shown another room which was small and dark, and then told that they would find a better one for us the next day. And they did move us over but was that necessary? If you think that i am overly critical, we met a couple at the airport who go to Sandals every year. They were at the one at Dunn River and they had the same experience. Even having a meal that was inedible. They were totally disillusioned by their week. It seems that Sandals has gone downhill since the original owner died. I will certainly not go back to a Sandals.. Finally, I believe that this particular property is not suitable for seniors due to the endless amount of stairs, with no elevators. One must go down at least 3 flights of stairs to access the beach, the main pool and almost all dining facilities.

Great time at Sandals Ochi
Beautiful grounds, awesome staff, good food. The first room we had was a bit run down and needed a reno. We mentioned this to the concierge and we were promptly moved to a renovated villa. The beach was gorgeous - a word of warning, take water shoes as the beach is very rocky and not kind to your feet.

Average resort
The resort was beautiful, but we were not impressed with our room. We received an upgraded room which we were told was bigger but the poolside was shared with three other couples which was not ideal. Our in-room beverage service (from coffee to champagne) was not restocked daily as advertised and briefed; we needed to request this from the concierge each day which detracted from the (advertised and paid for) Sandals all-inclusive experience. We will not be returning in the future; no need to reply. Thank you.

Sandal’s Ochi - bring ear plugs
Very desappointed in this Sandal’s resort in particular but also in Sandal’s in general. We selected this resort for what we thought would be a trouble free and relaxing vacation so that we could rest and enjoy ourselves but we’re we wrong. The first thing we noticed arriving there is that the wifi was down. It stayed down for the entire week. I had set up cameras and various systems at home that I wanted to monitor but couldn’t do it unless I did it over the cell network which I had not planned on. Sandal’s with thousands of employees and multiple resorts couldn’t fix an issue that affected all of its resorts. No wifi, ok. Let’s relax then. Oh wait, the pounding music. You can’t really escape it unless you go to the ‘hidden pool’ ( that’s the real name). It is very small and well hidden, you won’t see a server there. And by the beach? Well you can still hear the music but you need to get up early to ´reserve ´ your spot. 8:00 is too late. But hey, we came here also for scuba diving. Not a great experience here either unfortunately. Basically, on most of the dives, the guides were with people getting their certification. So, we went to the bottom and waited and waited for the guide to arrive with the students. Then we had to end our dives because the students air supply reached 1000 psi which is to be expected with people who have no experience diving. The food. The Italian and French restaurants are quite good and the Jerk Shack is also noteworthy. The rest are not at all at the level of a 5 star hotel. After our second day we complained to the appropriate staff member who took notes. She said someone would contact us in the afternoon. The next day, no one had contacted us. Back to the Customer center, they said they tried to contact us. I responded that there was no note under our door, no message on our room phone. They apologized and said to come back the next morning to talk to the manager. That would be the day of our departure. But, apparently the manager was not present that day. Our first experience with Sandal’s was at the White House a few years ago which was great. And that is why we returned but needless to say, no more Sandal’s for us. Good luck. Oh, get ready for a 2 hour drive from the airport.

Not bad, but not amazing.
So to start, I did enjoy this getaway. Would I spend the money to do it again….no. First off, the staff were really pleasant. The entertainment staff were fun and engaging. The restaurants had pretty good food and the bed was decently comfortable. The resort itself is beautiful with its lush gardens and it’s pretty easy to get a place to sit and watch the ocean in the sun for the day. They have beautiful coves and the beach is kept clean and groomed. Things I didn’t like: it’s a long transfer from airport to the resort..1.5 hours. The entire resort could use some maintenance. We had a king room Rivera side and although it was decent, I wouldn’t call it luxury. Things like the magnifying mirror in the bathroom was broken, the closet doors were broken and wouldn’t stay shut, the balcony railing was rusted and moved dangerously when leaned on so we stayed away from it. The air conditioner worked and made the room lovely and cool but dripped constantly on the carpet below, causing the room to smell musty. There are lots of stairs on the resort to go anywhere, it didn’t bother us at all but could bother some. Beach Towels were hard to find in the mornings, we went searching often for them. Everywhere you go, someone is trying to upsell you. Whether it’s to get you to book the spa or buy pictures or book a table at an event which costs more, it got tiresome being approached constantly to ask you to spend more money. Breakfast Buffett was good and booked dinner restaurants were good.. but there are no snack options. You can’t just quickly grab anything. The pool has a pizza place that takes an hour to get a tiny pizza. I ordered 2 tacos one afternoon and waited 45 mins for them. There is no haste for anything and seems disorganized. We started to joke while finishing breakfast if we should order lunch right away so we could actually eat when we were hungry later. The bar frequently ran out of cups to serve people. The coffee urn was empty a few mornings which didn’t destroy my day or anything, just a little frustrating when sandals sells “luxuryâ€. The speakeasy is a super cool vibe with fun drinks. We went to watch the entertainment … which didn’t show up. We enjoyed the piano sing along one day so checked the schedule and went a second time and guess what?…. They didn’t show up. So overall, the break from work was still nice and we enjoyed the beach but I wouldn’t do it again. It even kind of put me off the sandals brand as other people we spoke to told us they have been to nicer, much cheaper resorts.

Just Above Average
Grounds: overall quite good, lots of vegetation and little pathways which added a sense of exclusivity and an overall tropical feel. However, the resort was dated and I believe is the oldest Sandals, which is obvious from the more compartmentalized entrance and foyer. Also, way too many steps to get to beach on Seaside and to get to Ochi Beach Resort. Food: Below what we expected for a Sandals and for the $3900 each that we spent for this trip - so we were disappointed. Portion size was miniscule and in many restaurants, the food was too salty, and even cold on presentation of the meal. Room: The room was good overall with a nice view. The biggest disappointment was the bed which gave both of us little support and added to lower back pain, not good on a vacation. Please upgrade the mattresses! Sandals personnel were hot and cold. A number of their people were rude at the Airport reception area and in the hotel, which is not expected at a higher end resort. Upselling: There was a constant barrage of sales personnel continually trying to sell you trips, return visits, etc... in the main foyer, which was very tiring. Overal trip we would give it a 7/10. Would not go to another Sandals unless the pricing reflected a much better deal.

Great vacation
Lots of great dining options and top shelf booze available. Grounds were plentiful, well manicured and had many great pools to relax around. Butler service was impeccable. Rooms have not been updated but they are clean and in good working order. Service could be very slow at times and we did experience hot water issues in room. Maid service inconsistent. Overall- a great option to experience Sandals on a lesser budget.

Not as advertised
Sandal's perfected the advertising and deceiving industry. They sell their resort as the most luxurious vacation that one will ever have. In all honesty that could be not more farther from the truth!! The resort is very outdated thou in my rating I didn't considered it. That didn't bothered me nor the very fact that climbing in the bed requires some acrobatic skills! I am 5.5" tall and getting in the bed was challenging every single time. My rating of 2 stars is given because of the way this resort operates. I've booked a room with a balcony. Guess what my room had no balcony. It took about an hour to get the room that was paid for. I've always wanted to try Sandal's and at our 30th anniversary we decided to book it. We wanted a vacation to remember. Well it happen but for all the wrong reasons. I have had the opportunity to visit different islands in the Caribbean and I can testify that any other resorts you can get luxury for much less money than here. Here they use the cheapest raw materials that can be purchased on the market and they serve it in very small portions. If you ask for chicken your portion is 2 drumsticks of the size of chicken wings and be happy. If you try to get more that always ends in an argument because there no way that they will honour your request! All the orders are mostly hit and miss. The resort has no mineral water, nor a canned club soda! The alcoholic beverages are questionable. I never saw anybody open a seal on a bottle (except on sparkling wine). When you go to eat you have to give your room number. I found this to be a try to intimidate you so one would not complain. If that doesn't work they send in the managers who try to smooth things over. I found this to be degrading because my intelligence was insulted. They are smiling as long as you don't want anything from them. If you have a question or complain they make you feel small and stupid. One example of this: one morning I went to the wending machine to get my latte. There is no freshly brewed coffee on the resort you have to help yourself at the machine. So I started the procedure. The machine could not finish my order because there was no milk. I saw an employee and asked for his help. He came there and explained to me how the machine works. I've asked him to demonstrate it. Well he had no more success than I did. Even than I could not get an 'I am sorry'. Somehow he got into the clear while I ended up being in red. I've got so much lecturing in those 5 days that I don't even want to remember. They are doing it wrong, it's their fault and still they make you feel stupid and they lecture you all the way. Every single interaction for food or drink was a challenge! On our anniversary at dinner we asked for a bucket with ice and a bottle of sparking wine. After about 2 minutes the server comes back asking what kind of wine we want?! I am very sorry that I booked this vacation. I've spent a lots of money and got not much except bad memories I would never return here nor visit any other Sandal's resorts. My dear fellow travelers do your home work and try other resorts where you will get value for your money. I feel ashamed that I've let the commercial of a dream vacation fog my judgment and not investigate the place before I booked it. Hope my review will help others not to make the same mistake that I did.

The beach is incredible. Clear blue water with a reef close by so you see a ton of colourful fish just standing in the water. The service is very slow. Sometimes it was taking 1+ hour for the food to arrive. They also ran out of key menu items much too often.

Less than Stellar
We have been at a number of Sandal resorts and quite honestly were disapointed with our Ochi Rios experience compared to others. Food and service were both less than satisfactory. There certainly seemed to be a lack of communication amongst employees and management. In summary, this was not a typical 5 star Sandals experience.

Great couple time!
We stayed in the Butler Village and had a private pool. Although it was shared with 3 other rooms in the villa we had the pool to ourselves almost the entire time. Food OK. Of each the meals, portions were very good and then other items not good. It would appear that the cooking vegetables appeared to be quite a challenge. They were not very tasty (or cooked in some cases). Service in restaurants at dinner left little to be desired. For every one smiling person 4 others disengaged. Some areas of resort a little dilapidated but there was a spot to chill for everyone depending on what pace of interaction or privacy you desired. Butlers were great! We had Reynaldo and Roger-niel. They were very attentive and went above and beyond to ensure we had a lovely stay.

Wedding anniversary at Ochi Beach resort
This was our fourth time at this resort in the last 5 years. Numerous improvement were done and some more are in the works. Ochi Beach resort is Sandals biggest resort with 2 separate sections and hop bus system that is wonderful. The staff at this location are still amazing and so are the five star restaurants. We had the butler villas which we selected because of the cost for sure but our last experience was so outstanding this is the way to go. Any thing you want, desire it will be done. On our anniversary day, open the front door to see roses on a white towel with happy anniversary written, spent day at our semi private pool then cap of with a tremendous supper on our patio. Spent 7 glorious days with little rain on 1 day in the morning, pools were cleaned and very soothing, plenty of drinks around (would recommend Caribbean Blue which is made of vodka, less sugar so you don't blow up) Entertainment every night whether at both auditorium (outdoors) or watch a movie on soft sofa while getting some nachos, popcorn or pizza and our favourite is at Mama's house (Rabbit hole) she sounds like Adele. I would definitely go back again, lot's of water sports to do, contest every day if you wish, beach or pool volleyball, rock climbing, croquet, basketball, tennis, golf. The staff in this location are extremely happy and helpful no matter your issue. Best thing is put your wallet away, no tipping at all.Fantastic food throughout the resort at any time....

The hotel was a dream come true. Upon arrival, we were met with cool towels that were lightly scented with a mild relaxing fragrance. We identified our luggage and it was taken by or porter. We were asked to check-in which was not your ordinary hotel check-in process, we were escorted to comfortable chairs and met with champaign while we checked-in. We went to our room and it was exactly like the pictures we saw online. It was clean, beautiful, and fully stocked with amenities. Beautiful grounds in an excellent location.
Resort is very large, spread out, does not have an intimate atmosphere. A shuttle ride operates between the two different sections. Staff are extremely pleasant and efficient, very attentive. Entertainment was terrific, awesome dance troupe! Rooms at the Riviera Seaside Village were clean & well maintained by the friendly staff, but a bit dated. Lots of stairs need to be climbed in order or to access the beach and some restaurants. Beach area is pristine, very well maintained by staff . Swimming area cordoned off made it safe and accessible. The food was somewhat disappointing for the level of the hotel, especially the Terrace steak house. It is also difficult to get booked for the specialty restaurants due to the large number of guests staying at both sides of this resort.

Great time
we just returned from 7 days at this resort and had a wonderful time. The staff were phenomenal. These workers put in very long hours day in and day out with a smile on their face and always trying to please their guests. We ate at all the restaurants and while one doesn’t specifically stand out as a favourite each one offered variety and the food was consistently excellent. We stayed in a riviera bamboo grove premium room which was located in the lily building. We found our room not very luxurious compared to other 5star resorts we have stayed out. The room was very dated and the reason why I did not give a 5 star rating. The nightly themed entertainment was average but the entertainment at the rabbit hole was a favourite for us. We went there 3 nights to enjoy phylia “mama†perform. There are two private beaches. The riviera beach which a little more quite than the beach club. We loved both beaches. All in all I would recommend this resort as a great destination

Another great group trip with Kim Hartlen to a Sandals resort
We recently arrived home from a great 10 day vacation at Sandals Ochi.. It’s a long trip from the airport to the resort, on most days 1 ½ hours, but the day we arrived it was a 3 hour trip because of the annual kite festival, which tied up traffic. The resort itself was very nice, however seemed “cut up†because of 2 distinct parts – below the main road near the ocean and above the main road. It was hard to walk around the resort much because it is very hilly and the roads and paths do not connect well for a long walk. The food was excellent, overall the best of any of the 7 different Sandals we have stayed at over the last 7 years. The main pool at the upper level was great and we spent a lot of our time there, but did spend some time at the “quiet pool†on the upper level as well as at the beach. We found the playmakers fun and full of energy. Service at the pool bars was good. We always wonder about the thoroughness of cleaning of the drink glasses at the pool bars, maybe more care could be taken there, but we have seen that at all the resorts -- possibly one of few weaker points of Sandals. We found the staff very friendly and helpful, overall the best staff of any of the Sandals we have stayed at. We have to mention our room attendant, Sashana Campbell, who kept our room very clean all 10 days we were there. She was definitely the best room attendant we have seen at Sandals. She was very friendly and continually surprised us with her “towel animal creations†each day. Restaurants -- for evening meals -- we enjoyed all evening meals and ate at all restaurants except for The Southern Table. Our 2 favourites were the French, Le Gourmand, and Italian, Valentinos, restaurants. We ate at both twice and had fabulous meals with great service every time. We had Jenthrow for a waiter 3 times (both times at the Italian restaurant and for breakfast at the French) and he was excellent and went over and above to make sure everything was perfect for us. The sushi at Soy was excellent and the meal at Kimonos was very good – but the “chef show†there was short and just average. The only meal we had that wasn’t up to par was at Kellys and it was because they had run out of some of the ingredients, which we only found out about when the meal came. We had ordered the penne with peas and mushrooms and a side order of mixed vegetables. The meal consisted of just penne – as they had run out of peas, mushrooms, and mix veg, quite disappointing as we had heard such great reviews from others in our group. Tip – eat early in the evening there to ensure they have all the ingredients for the meals. Lunch – The buffet at Sky Vista was very good, the buffet at The Southern Table didn’t seem as good. The pizza was good at Bella Napoli, as was lunch at The Mariner, and The Great House Café. Breakfast – Mostly we ate at The Southern Table for breakfast. The omelets there were excellent as were the smoothies. You have to ask for a smoothie but they will gladly get it for you. The buffet breakfast at Sky Vista was also excellent. A pleasant surprise was the meal and service at the French restaurant for breakfast. Our experience at other Sandals has been that at the a la carte breakfast restaurants the service is very slow and the meals inconsistent. However we ate at Le Gourmand three times for breakfast and the service was good and the food excellent. Other waitresses / waiters we found exceptionally good and friendly were Meldon and Melissa at the French, Kimoy at Southern Table and Manor, and Massian the maitre’d. Royan from the loyalty desk was always very friendly and helpful and we seemed to run into him every day. Evening entertainment was very good on most nights; we especially enjoyed the steel band and the staff talent show. The Rabbit Hole was fun and worth a visit at least once or twice. We went on a catamaran cruise with “Island Routes†which was very enjoyable and well organized. Definitely worth checking out. The gardens didn’t seem to be as colourful as some of the other resorts, but there were plenty of trees and shrubs. Maintenance – we had a few minor problems which were fixed up quickly by maintenance, however a few in our group had more issues which were not fixed as quickly. Concierge service was inconsistent with 2 calls one day for a request resulting in nothing happening. Also we didn’t have any white wine for 2 days and had to call concierge twice in order to get this fixed. A couple of suggestions:  Garbage cans around the resort were very hard to find, a few more would be nice.  It was very hard to walk down to the main road as there were no sidewalks once on the resort once you got closer to the road. A good sidewalk plus a pedway going over the main road would make the 2 sides seem joined together more, and be a nice walk to get a little exercise. (the shuttle does travel between the 2 sides every 10 minutes and is easy to catch). Overall we really enjoyed the resort and would rate it in the top three of the 7 Sandals resorts we have been to.

We stayed over on the opposite side of the resort from the beach club side and was amazed at how great all staff where on this resort, always in a great mood and upbeat, food was excellent and drinks great. We where in a butler unit with 3 other rooms and your own small pool outside our deck, the other couples in the same complex as ours where with our group so worked out great for us as we all hung out around the pool and on our deck.Rooms in this area are idue for some freshening up,but where always clean and exceptable.bed was extremely comfortable.Always lots of beer and drinks in the room and snacks, our butlers did an awesome job with looking after all and we our not the type that where constantly calling on them to get things,This side of resort is built on a bit of a hill so there is a bit of walking up and down ,so can be a bit of a pain if you don't like hills, but there are tons of little shuttles and golf cart running aroung that will pick you up if you wait.On the beach side there are 3 small beaches,I you like big beaches and walking them there is none of this here but there was always lots of chairs and staff around to serve you if you need anything, the beach side was a lot busier than the villa side. Over all this is a beautiful resort with excellent staff, a bit on the bigger side than I like but we had an awesome time with our group from the Kim Hartlen Trip Central escorted trip.

Feels like home
We have been to this resort 8 times. The service and the food are first rate. Lots to see lots to do or places for quite if that is your thing. The rooms are clean and well maintained. Beach is great but could use a few more shaded spots. Staff are helpful and upbeat.

Dissappointing
Dissappointing! Room Service took 2 hours for food to be delivered. Our beverage fridge was never re stocked, always had to call which was very frustrating Beach towels never replaced unless we asked Our pool was dirty on arrival, we had to remove debris from filter daily So noisy with the golf carts n Hop vehicles driving, So fast up and down the hill with loud mufflers French restaurant chicken Cordon blue so dry n burnt. Was not the typical wow factor of Sandals Resorts that we are accustomed too. A few guests had Glass beer bottles in pool and at swim bar , nothing done. (Drunk as hell) Rules ... No glass bottles in pool area ummm I guess it's ok! So sad we feel we wasted our money ! On a good note we had a great time with our great friends and our BUTLERS WERE AWESOME Moira and Sheana

Great Vacation - Nice Resort
My wife and I enjoy our 7 day vacation at Sandals Ochi. Personnel/Staff are awesome, friendly, genuine. Food was excellent, with lots of choice. Drinks were also very good. We didn't really go to the beach and spend the majority of our time by the pool and it was very nice, clean. Rooms were good, but there's a little room for improvement - we had some issue with lack of hot water, noisy ceiling fan, pool with some algae - rooms were clean and bed was comfortable - but a little bit more emphasis need to be put on room maintenance, making sure all is functioning properly; maybe time for some renos. Bottomline, we would go back again, as we enjoyed ourselves - great vacation.

Loved every minute of it !!!!
The resort was amazing....our butlers Alshane and Ormondo were super, especially Alshane. All the staff were very helpful. The highlight of our trip was the catamaran excursion. Absolutely loved it!! The only issue we had was the Southern kitchen restaurant, specifically the ribs I ordered, all fat, no meat. Other than that the restaurants were great. This was our trip of a lifetime as we cannot afford Sandals but we wanted to go all out this time.....Sandals did not disappoint !!! Hopefully someday we can do it again :)

I absolutely loved Ochi and would go back in a heart beat. Loved all that they had to offer. Only issue I did have was dinner at Kelly's was 7:15pm and didn't get out of there until 10:15, way to long.

The People are What Makes it 5 Stars
My wife and I just returned from Sandals Ochi Beach Resort. It was the third Sandals we've been to and we had a great time but it wasn't the resort itself that made the trip memorable, it was the people. This was our first trip to Jamaica and we really didn't any preconceptions as to what to expect. My wife's parents and another couple went along with us and we were just looking to relax and enjoy as much as we could. The vacation ended up having a mix of very positive and partly negative elements. I'll break it down fore review: Getting There Getting to the resort after landing in Montego Bay was painful. It's a long drive. On a good day it's probably 90 minutes. When we went, there was a kite festival going on which jammed traffic and extended the trip to over two hours. It was somewhat entertaining to watch cars, trucks and big buses passing us on both sides of our bus while police at the side of the road just let it happen. It's amazing there aren't far more accidents. The Resort Layout Sandals Ochi is two resorts in one. There is the hillside butler village and great house, which used to be a separate resort until Sandals bought it. Then there is the original beach resort. The two pieces are separated by the main road that runs through Ocho Rios and you go back and forth using The Hop, which is a shuttle bus. The system runs well and we never waited long to go from one side to the other. Even though the Hop is efficient, we found this division in the resort to be a real impediment to taking part in a lot of activities. Most of the nightly entertainment occurs on the beach side. After an active day in the sun, we often did not have the energy to wait up, get on the bus, go beachside for the show and return. I much prefer just being able to walk to whatever is happening. This element is probably the one that will prevent us from returning to this particular Sandals resort. The Resort Facilities The resort provides a wide range of service and activities. Everything from a spa to water sports, golf, other games and activities has enough to keep you as busy as you care to be. Even just staying around the pool or the beach can keep you active as the Playmakers roam around and engage guests in various games. We had no complaints at all in this area. Guest Rooms We stayed in the butler village in a four unit building with it's own pool. Of the three Sandals I've been to, this one was probably the most dated as far as the accommodations were concerned. The suite we had felt "old" and while comfortable was not what I would consider luxurious. For the first couple of days we had no hot water and the air conditioning system had a hard time cooling the living room. We raised these matters to staff and they worked quickly to resolve them. We eventually got some hot water but it was never really sufficient for a good shower and certainly not a bath. We heard that some units had problems where they had too much hot water and couldn't make it cool enough. It seems that the upper units got less hot water and the lower ones got more. Our private pool needed a good cleaning before any of us would use it and on the third day we were there someone came by and scrubbed the algae off the walls. Restaurants There are a lot of restaurants available serving different styles of cuisine. Overall, the restaurants and the food quality were very good. Each restaurant had its own distinct styling and ranged from glamorous to casual. We ate in a different one each night and had no complaints about any of them, other than for slow service in one, but we were on vacation and in no rush. The People When we went to Sandals Halcyon years ago we fell in love with the people who worked there in St Lucia. Then we went to Emerald Bay the year that it opened and had a distinctly different experience as the Bahamians seemed far less outgoing and engaging. The staff at Sandals Ochi brought back the magic. I have to say that everyone we met who worked at Sandals Ochi were simply amazing. They were incredibly friendly and approachable. My wife and I got to learn a lot about Jamaica just from speaking to the staff every day. By the end of the week it was like talking to old friends. And they weren't just friendly, they tried really hard to make sure that anything we needed was provided....from the resort General Manager through to the grounds keepers. I can't imagine a better team to work with than the Sandals Ochi team. They were simply awesome. The Best for Last We stayed in the butler village and were incredibly lucky to have Shenae and Moria as our butlers. These two ladies were the highlight of our vacation. To say they were our butlers is a disservice. More accurately, they were Jamaican ambassadors, cultural representatives and great new friends. Shenae and Moria provided anything we needed and many things that we never even thought to ask for, working invisibly to us, setting up little surprises that made us smile. They would stop by to see how we were doing and then stay and talk, answering all of our questions and giving us insights about Jamaica and the Jamaican people. My wife and I renewed our wedding vows while we were at Sandals Ochi and Shenae attended the ceremony after driving us over and walking us to the gazebo where it took place. At the pool, we also had cabana butlers. Richardo and Odeon also were incredible. Basically, anything that comes across as a negative in this review was far overshadowed by the incredibly positive experiences we had interacting with the staff at Sandals Ochi. Final Impression We loved our vacation and especially the people that we met. You will not regret staying at Sandals Ochi, but I'm not sure that I would go back. The split resort concept and the drive to get there are the two factors involved. I suspect that we will go back to another Sandals in Jamaica. We are thinking about Sandals White House...though I hear the drive to that is pretty bad as well, but there is a helicopter option which we might try.

Great Resort from the rooms to the service and the pool area. Loved the restaurants we ate at: Kelly's, Valentino's, The Sky Terrace, Southern Table. We spent most of our days at the Great House Pool and enjoyed the daily activities. Service was outstanding at the restaurants and the swim up bar.

Great Resort!
The best feature of Ochi is the staff. Always inclusive and making sure your having a great time. The grounds are beautifully kept as well as one of the beach areas. Food was very good as was the drinks. My only negative comment is on check in we did not get the room we paid for. They did fix it but this seemed to be a common problem amongst many people we talked to. As well the rooms are quite small.

Disapointment
There is not enough room here to list all of the problems we had with Sandals Ochi. 1. Concierge Check-in, took about an hour and a half. 2. Reserving dinners, took 2 days to get this done, with lots of arguing with concierge. 3. Room was in the "babbling brooks" section, water not running, disgusting smell, trees being cut down all week, brooks empty of water. 4. Dislocated my finger while there, nurse had no water, ice, bandages or interest in helping. 5. Almost no drink service, and when we went to the bar, mostly ignored by bar staff. 6. No seating at pools unless you get up at 6am to claim your spot. 7. Dinner service very slow, waited 3 hours one night for dinner. 8. Twice ordered Crown Royal, whatever came out of the Crown Royal bottle was not Crown Royal, some sort of scotch. 9. In room bar was the cheapest alcohol I have ever seen. 10. By far the tiniest resort room I have ever seen. Overall, our group will not be going to Sandals again.

Sandals Ochi Beach Resort
We went to this resort with 3 other couples and stayed in the honeymoon hideaway rooms on the beach/sea side of the resort. The airport shuttle bus was a full size travel bus that we waited to be fully loaded before leaving the airport, then travelled a few hours to the resort. (The bus made a 30 min stop, encouraged people to get off and have a 'look around'). We were met on arrival and told to wait to be taken to the concierge. After some time we were herded with several other couples into a small waiting room and checked in after about an hour or so. Sa-J however, was incredibly helpful and tried to improve our experience and get us food and drink while we waited. We were led to our rooms which were not much more than a basic hotel room. The advertised 'babbling brooks' were not babbling, the only thing in them was a bad smelling sludge until the last day of our vacation. There was a small balcony, but we were on the ground floor near a walkway. When we opened our balcony door passer by's were able to see directly into our room and we heard the very loud sound of service carts clankering by our room at all hours. We attempted to make reservations through the concierge at a few of the restaurants where this was required. We were met with resistance and a lot of 'no, that's not possible' comments stating that they were unable to accomodate group reservations. This did get done after several hours of persistence and speaking with manager after manager. The food (other than room service) was quite good and other than it took 3 hours or so to have a sit down meal, I thought it was really good. Drinks were good, again-other than the fact that it took quite some time to get a drink and some staff seemed quite inconvenienced by the request. We did meet a few service people that stood out and were really fantastic (Reginald at the Polo lounge, Milton who seemed to be a manager of the restaurants on the hillside and Natoya that we seemed to run into at every restaurant sea side). Unfortunately most of the other employees we met were evasive, avoided eye contact and not friendly. The pool at the hillside was large, clean and well maintained (along with the grounds), the pools on the beach side were not nearly as large or maintained. If you choose to go, I would highly recommend staying hillside. We thought we would want to be closer to the action (restaurants, night life, etc), but we ended up taking the hop hillside almost everyday-it is just generally nicer. The playmakers did an amazing job at entertaining. They were inclusive, funny, engaging and made our experience better-this particularly goes out to Chad who was incredible. Also...there are random cats (some pretty mangy) all over the resort. It's a bit bizarre and kind of put us off. I do recommend the snorkelling and stand up paddle boarding...well worth doing and the self proclaimed 'Fat Albert' that water shuttled us to the snorkelling site just off shore was great. We witnessed one of their swing benches by the manor pool hillside break with 2 people on it. They fell to the ground hitting their heads off the concrete. We ran over them to see if they were ok, the lifeguard was more concerned about getting them up from the pool deck before anyone else seeing the incident than ensuring the people were ok before moving them. We are Paramedics in Ontario and had huge concern with this incident (probably more than any other concern we had), both of them had pretty large bumps on their head and the man seemed quite dazed. Overall, we were able to find places in this resort that we enjoyed and had a great week. We are really not that hard to please as a group (despite this rambling review) and can have fun anywhere, but after quite a bit of travelling I consider the price point for this resort quite high and the value lower than what you would expect from a 5 star resort. It's more like a 4 or solid 3 1/2 star kind of place. Based on this travel experience, I would never travel to a Sandals again and would be hard pressed to vacation to Jamaica again.

Fabulous Vacation - First Time at Sandals
My husband and I travelled to Ochi Beach Sandals resort for a fabulous vacation. You do have to take the hop to get from the hillside to the beach but it runs every 5 minutes and is only a 2 minute ride. The beach is not long but they do have multiple sections of beach front with floating docks. The pools are everywhere and always lots of activities happening.

Not a trip...it's an experience!
Just got back from Sandals Ochi to the freezing cold. Once you get over the 90min bus ride, the pampering starts. Winsome (housekeeping) was an amazing person. Garfield (front entrance) looked out for us everyday. Fruit plates and desserts showed up at our door constantly. The grounds are immaculate and there is always something to do. The beach is never overcrowded and your glass never empty. We never encountered one single unhappy or unfriendly staff member. During your entire stay, if you want/need *anything*, just ask. you won't wait long until your request is fulfilled. If you return home unhappy, it's your fault, no theirs. Can't wait to go back! PS.....if you book through Tripcentral.ca, speak to Jackie. There isn't much she doesm't know about Sandals and her advice can give you a big head start before you get there!! Thanks, Jackie!

Best vacation ever
I would first like to thank Krista Shaver for helping us book this amazing vacation. Definitely made things so much easier for us to decide where we wanted to go when she found this amazing deal with Sandals Ochi Beach Resort in St Ann's Bay Jamaica. With her help she made sure we had everything we needed to make this a vacation right from the start. We had upgraded our seats both ways which I would recommend to everyone traveling. Well worth the extra money. We also were told to upgrade to the mobay club. Which upon arrival we were greated right when we got off the plane to by pass the very very long line. She had let us know ahead of time that it sometimes could take 2 to 3 hours to get through. Again well worth the extra money. From there we had no issues coming in. All in all this took us about 20 mins max from getting off the plane to going through the airport to enter Jamaica. From there we were taken to the Mobay club were we right away were welcomed by all staff. They offered us a drink of our choice and food. It was nice to sit back and relax while we waited for our ride to the hotel. I had read in some reviews before traveling about some having issues with having to tip people. (Which to us was not the case we did not find that people demanded tips right from the start.) We were called from the lounge they had already had our luggage and were ready to take us to the private car they had waiting outside for us. The guy that helped us with our bags had let us know it was $1 a bag which we had no idea but nor did we have a problem giving him the $1 per bag. This is his way of making a living. We understood and were happy to give it to him. We had the whole car to ourselves which was very nice. The driver was very polite and professional. We were told it would be about an hour and 45 mins to get to the hotel but we were told to relax and enjoy the drive. He was pointing things out to us along the way which was nice to see him show some love about his home town. He did let us know that the best jerk chicken to try was at scotchies. Although we did not have a chance to stop and try it you definitely could tell it was a great place to stop very busy. We made it to the hotel and we're greated right away they took our bags and right away gave us a glass of champagne. We were taken through the lobby for a short walk through the garden area to the next building were our room would be. Room was very decent nice and clean. Nice little patio area overlooking the hillside. We ended up at the reef Terrance for dinner that night. Amazing food and a beautiful view to overlook the ocean while you eat. That evening we went down to the ocean bar which is were we needed up most nights before heading off to bed. Food review again there was not a bad meal that we had amazing food at all places that we ate at. We had sky terrance and vista gourmet, Valentinos twice it was that good, the southern table which had the best ribs, kelly's dockside seaside bar and grill that was our last dinner on the beach the Monday night before leaving for home on Tuesday. Tapas on the riviera if you want to grab a quick bite to eat this was the place. Dino's pizzeria pool side which you could order and take to go. Everyday we would see people taking pizza boxes to the beach. Nice little treat. By far though my favourite place would have to be the kimonos oriental cuisine where they cook infront of you. So much fun and a very tasty dinner. The jerk shack on the hillside was very nice for their fish sandwich they had different specials everyday. Nice quick lunch. Drinks were all premium labels as well as there own too. They were not shy when it came to pouring you a drink. Doubles all around. Wine selection was nice for the house all Robert Mondavi. Our favourite after dinner spot though was the rabbit hole. Be sure to ask for the password every night. This place did not disappoint. Service show and drinks all amazing. We had gone 5 nights out of the 7 . We did do one excursion on the Friday at Dunn's river falls. Very beautiful place be sure to bring water shoes not sandles. It was only two hours. We are not one for the all day trips so this was just perfect for us. Entertainment nightly with different themes. Something to do for everyone. Beach and a view for days. We loved both sides to the hotel. Again if anyone of looking for a hotel that has a little something for everyone this is the one for you. Best vacation by far we are already looking to plan our next one. Krista we will be calling you for our next trip thank you again for putting this together for us. Shane and Linda

Very nice resort
Pros: Well kept grounds, beautiful landscaping, great hotel room, comfortable bed with good quality linens. Many restaurants to pick for both buffet or a la carte dining. Cons: We stayed at the great house and we had to get the 'HOP' - the bus to go to the seaside. The buses would come every 10 minutes, no waiting time involved...but it would have been nice to just take a walk to the beach rather than bussing.

Fantastic resort and a great time!
We travelled to sandals Ochi in July 2016 (July 5-12) for our 10 year anniversary. We are a couple In our 30's who have travelled to many all inclusive resorts and this one was our best experience! The food was phenomenal everywhere. i wish we were there longer to have been able to try every single spot! Our faves: vista/sky terrace for dinner (lobster tails, scallops and oysters!), Le gourmand is the French restaurant on the hillside. Portions were bigger than other places and the taste was like a 5star restaurant in France. We also loved soy for sushi dinner. But all in all, the restaurants were fantastic and we didn't have any complaints. The daytime entertainment was fun. If you don't want loud games, drinking and laughter, stay away from the main pool on the beachside. The hillside has the grand pool but you need to grab the 2 min shuttle to get there. Not a big deal but we just preferred the beach side as there were more options and our room was there. The evening entertainment was probably one of the things I wouldn't bother mentioning-it was kind of cheesy. A couple shows were good but overall I enjoyed the couples games they did before the main show more. The rooms were nice, clean. No complaints. Beds were comfortable. Some spots showed their age, like in the shower but it wasn't dirty and I didn't come there to hang out in my room. They offered turn down service every evening as well. The beach was small but again, clean. Can't go for a nice walk along the beach like you might in other carribean islands and at first this was a sore spot for us but as we relaxed into the second day we enjoyed the privacy of the beach and.not being harassed by vendors. We did a private tour to dunns river falls with Lorenzo. He is on the resort but he is his own company. He has a small boat near the beachside restaurants and he's there everyday. We were the first people at dunns river at 9am and there wasn't a single person on the falls. It was a beautiful experience. After that we took a car and went to the blue hole, which was a blast. So much fun there enjoying the crystal clear fresh waters. Overall we loved that day trip. They offered us a sunset catamaran cruise on the last day we were there (it's just how it worked out for space) and we were completely rained out. The only drop of rain all week and it came down all. Day. Long! We still made the best of it and enjoyed our day under the beach bar and playing pool, making new friends :) I would definitely return to this resort and plan to book another sandals holiday the next time me and my husband can get in a romantic getaway:)

Great service, Staff are friendly and they always attend to your needs without any expectation on tip, some even refuse tip. Good selection of alcohol at bar, from remy Martin to Appleton. Food is great, a lot of a la carte options available. Pools could have been cleaner, however the beach is great for Ochi Rios. Quite and not too many people at the property. Most guests, if not all, are couples. Don't expect too much during the night past 11 PM.

Chilled Jamaican feel with intimate couples atmosphere combined with exemplary service and food with very clean and comfortable surroundings made this a really relaxing trip. More restaurants to choose from than we could find time to dine and same goes for the pools. The weather was awesome for August travel. Beaches were quite average however. Overall would go back for the great friendly service.

Fantastic resort
We loved this resort. It is huge. It was at full capacity when we were there and you would never know as the places you went had no line ups and no crowds. In the room category we had unlimited room service and fully stocked bar and semi-private pool. Our own private paradise away from the rest of the resort. The pools were fantastic however we wouldn't consider this to be a great beach resort. Not that it is an issue as everything else makes up for the lack of beach. Would highly recommend getting a Butler as the service really puts the icing on the trip.

Fantastic vacation
We had a great time. The drive from the airport to the resort was 1 1/2 hours which was disappointing but it was worth the drive. The grounds and pools were amazing. It was a tropical paradise. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. All the restaurants were very nice with great views of the resort especially the outside dining. We had a villa up on the hillside with the butler service and private pool. The private pool was a disappointment. We had to call for someone to come and skim the pool and the ratan furniture around the pool was broken with holes in the tables and lounges. We never used the pool area because it was depressing to look at and uninviting, but yet our two neighbours, their pool area was great. We regret not complaining about this but it did not lessen the great vacation that we had. We would definitely go back again but would book in the Riveria Seaside in one of the small villas. They are very private and are surrounded by a tropical paradise and it is very central in the resort to everything. We would also never have a butler again. Nothing personal, we are just private people and like to do our own thing and not be bothered.

Very Good Resort
We just returned from a week at the Sandals Ochi (formerly Sandals Grande Riviera). Sandals is doing a great job of improving the property - there is some construction going on, but it did not interfere with our vacation at all. We stayed in the lowest category of rooms in the great house, and opted to not have butler service. The room size and layout was comparable to a higher end North American chain, with nicer furniture and a balcony - not especially luxurious, but the it was clean and comfortable. The view was not great - looked over the golf-cart parking. We were almost over the lobby, and initially we were concerned about noise, but through the night it was fine. We are early risers, so the early morning activity did not bother us. If we wanted to sleep in, it probably would have. The food was very good in most of the restaurants - Reef was our favorite spot for dinner. We also really enjoyed the French restaurant and Soy. Transportation between the 2 sides of the property was quick and easy - we never waited more than 5 minutes for a ride. The watersports were amazing. We never had to wait for a paddleboard, kayak or sailboat. We did the snorkeling tour once - we are experienced at this and were a little disappointed with how little there was to see, but we ventured out by ourselves from shore (near the Ochi Beach Club) and had an enjoyable time. I would recommend that only strong swimmers go beyond the roped off area. The beach is divided into 3 areas - we spent much of our time near the watersports centre where there were always chairs in the shade, or in the water near the beach club - not much shade at that end. I cannot say enough good things about the staff. Almost everyone was friendly, helpful and very pleasant. Unfortunately I cannot say the same for many of the guests - many of them were rude and demanding and displayed poor manners. The employees never showed anything but professional behavior when dealing with those guests, for which I applaud them.

When the renos are done, this will be 5 stars
It was our second trip to this resort but we stayed on the hillside, not the seaside. The jack hammering was intrusive and downright awful at times. Other work includes painting and woodworking which of course are not really a big deal. If I had to do it again, I would go to the seaside. It's an individual thing, but I didn't find the butler service to be exceptional; we used it mostly to get around the resort which is not an issue if you are staying on the seaside. I suspect the renovations will be done by mid-May and it will look spectacular. The food is delightful; lots of healthy options, including for a Ceiliac. Top shelf liquor is available without extra charge (to an extent), you just have to ask for it. If you are looking for high-end wine, you will have to pay for that. If you are a golfer, bring your own clubs; you can play three times with a cart and caddy for $150 per person. Renting clubs is expensive though; approximately $50 per round. The golf course is about a 20 minute drive away and the shuttle goes every hour. If you are a quick player, you can get a round in 3 hours. (so, get up early, go play and be back on time for lunch and then beach/pool time) The beach is non-existent (almost) other than the Ochi Beach club which is really fun.

An absolute beauty....
This resort is absolutely gorgeous. It is a 90 minute drive from the airport which to us was a fun ride but I noticed some people clearly had not done their research and were moaning and groaning about it. This is not the resorts fault, it is your own :) We stayed in the butler village which felt like a little home in the hill. The room was clean and we had a little patio to sit out on. There is so much to do, many different pools all over the place, if you keep exploring you keep finding them. If you prefer beach over pools this probably isn't the resort for you as the beach portion is quite small. There is definitely no shortage on places to eat. I liked that there wasn't a typical "all inclusive buffet" with mediocre food. All of our meals were amazing, but we didn't bother with the Japanese or French restaurant. When in Jamaica, we love caribbean food so we preferred dinner at the Manor. The portions aren't too big so you can try a lot of different things. At night there are a lot of things going on, loved the beach party and another night had a chocolate buffet party. If you go in with the mindset to have fun and enjoy yourself, you won't be disappointed.

Entertainment at its best
Stayed Feb 11-15. Beautiful resort with plenty to do. The service and staff fantastic. The resort is huge a little to big for our 4 day escape As we felt that we missed out on a lot. I love along stretch of beach and the beach here was nowhere near what I had hoped for. During our stay there was construction all day making for a not so relaxing atmosphere. We stayed on the beach side as we prefer to be closer to the beach. The room itself was clean and comfortable but the moment we walked out to the balcony all u hear is a loud air conditioner. All in all our stay was a Good One - Will we be back, No!

Fantastic service!
We had an incredible short stay at Sandals Grande Rivieria! We had a poolside Butler room up on the hillside with butlers Richard and Jeremy. Food was excellent. Staff were all friendly, and service was excellent throughout the resort. Although the actual beach was small, the pools were great. We look forward to returning next year!

Excellent resort and staff
This resort was well groomed and maintained, there were a couple areas undergoing reconstruction at the time of our stay, any noise and inconvenience was kept to the absolute minimum and did not affect our enjoyment in any way. Every aspect of this resort was very professionally handled. The staff were amazing from housekeeping staff to the butlers, all appeared to enjoy their jobs and had a smile at anytime, they made us feel very welcome which added so much to our enjoyment, for this alone the stay was worth it. The food was very good at any of the many restaurants and service was never an issue. If you want a vacation in a place that caters to you this one does it right.

Nice resort
We had a nice vacation. Some things to know: but we didn't let it dampen our stay at all. Resort Grounds are under construction/renovations Noisy traffic throughout resort, construction in some areas of the resort, landscapers leaf blowers and gas whipper snipper tools going constantly. Staff golf carts running constantly. Very noisy not peaceful at all while laying at our villa pool. A lot of stairs, resort is broken up. Shuttle to & from both sides of resort across busy roadway. Small beach area Staff are friendly Butlers are very helpful. Food is amazing, lots of choices Room service - 45 minute wait. Call breakfast in the night before to avoid the wait. 2 hour drive from airport. Quite long. We did receive the room level that we expected. Honeymoon package was nice. Breakfast in bed or on patio, room decorated with flower petals, champagne, bubble bath with petals, fruit and chocolate. Overall, the only reason we might not return is because we would like to see other places.

Fantastic Trip!
This was our first trip to a Sandals resort and we will for sure be staying with the chain again. This resort is huge! We stayed in a butler room. It was the first time having a butler and it was interesting. We probably didn't use the service as much as we could have but we did enjoy what we used. Best thing they did was set up a housecoat man in our bed. It was awesome! The food was amazing. Our favourite restaurant was the Manor. Yum! We spent most of the time at the Ochi Beach and it was gorgeous. Wish the towels were refilled a bit more frequently but we always were able to eventually get one.

Beautifull resort
Very pretty, staff are always friendly and helpful, check in takes too long, we pre registered on line, but had to go all through it again. They insist on putting a $400 hold on your credit card. Not fond of that. Food is good, service is good, but won't do a Sandals again.

Awesome Experience!
The food was second to none, the staff were so very kind and attended to our every wish! We originally wanted somewhere that we could explore and not be tied to a resort, this place is big and varied enough that it allows for that. The gym, spa and golf were perfect. The beaches are small but the mariner and water sports made up for the lack of beach.

No Hot Water!!!
Stayed on the beach side of the property between Dec.22-29, 2014. I travel 5-8 times a year and was just in Ochi on Dec.3/14. Room was fine, but by my first morning no hot water, complained by phone, complained by phone later and in person to front desk, still no hot water at bed time. Morning number two, no water at all, phoned and in person again. Water back on, still no hot wTer by late afternoon, finally had a tech come out...that's when I found out that the whole building has no hot water (was in #2055) and hasn't all week. So I was put into a room and put off knowing full well this was an issue all along! Finally had a sit down with a manager, she was skilled at resolving my issue after showing me 3 rooms (two also had no hot water, different buildings...wouldn't take the room w/out trying the taps first). The experience regarding service, quality of food, professionalism was at best mediocre and inconsistent. Things like towels in the gym 2 days out of 7, asking for fridge restocking ignored 4 days out of 7, bathing item restocking requested also mostly ignored, had to tip wait staff to get somewhat consistent service, breakfast items often out of stock, getting coffe/water refills at breakfast was cumbersome, pool towels often out of stock for large portions of the day, list is endless.

Amazing trip to SGR
Just returned from Sandals Grand Riveria and we had a wonderful trip. Resort plantation is beyond anything we have ever seen on our vacations. Staff goes above and beyond to give you a wonderful stay. Food is awesome! Drinks are premium quality. We stayed by the ocean and loved it. We enjoy being by the water and the sounds of the ocean. The beach area is small but the rest makes up for it. We will definitely return to a Sandals resort :).

Not what you would expect from Sandals
Second time to Jamaica, first time at a Sandals. Love Jamaica and I expect we would like other Sandals locations but this one seemed to come up short for us. Ultra all inclusive isn't really accurate. Little things like wifi you had to pay for. We asked to visit the resort adjacent and was told there was a fee. When we went to confirm our visit was told we could not even visit but if we were staying at the other we could come to GR?? just seemed weird. The resort is huge but you do not get that feeling, especially on the beach side. It's very confined when it comes to waterfront with really very little beach front. If you like long beach walks, plain and simple, stay somewhere else. If you have mobility issues, stay somewhere else as there are a ton of stairs on the beach side of the property even to get from one section of the beach to the other. As you can probably tell I'm not a fan but don't let that stop you form Jamiaca or other Sandals in Jamaica but I believe there are far better options...especially at this price point. All the whining aside, the food was good, no complaints there.
